Description
Privilege
MoreFirst there is no place to buy ticket online also Google said it was open on a Sunday till 4pm. We got there around 2:15pm and the man at the gate said it was closed and they would be open on Tuesday. My advise is to update the hours. The 1star is for the lack of accurate information on the www
MoreExcellent place well maintained railway musium
Waited like 15 minutes to enter although it was only a couple ahead of us.Place is dirty it seems they don’t have the funds or the staff to clean the space.Bathrooms are somehow clean.Didn’t stayed longer than 30 minutes as there’s no tour guides and some wagons can be visited only with tour guides
MoreThe museum was interesting and a cool stop but no tour guides available due to government funds. They do allow a walk through the train cabins.
MoreInteresting place to spend a few hours. We paid Q15/person. Only confusing part was figuring out the exit since we didnt stick with the tour.
MoreWent on a date here, the history of guatemala through its railways is truly fascinating!
MoreYa know, I didn’t come to Guatemala to visit the train museum, but I found myself on Friday at 2pm thinking: I don’t want to start drinking but I want to do something, so I ended up here. It’s actually super well done and entrance comes with a free super-knowledgeable guide. 15Q for nationals and 30Q for extranjeros. With the tour and a little wandering of the museum we spent 1.5 hours here. Definitely recommend.
MoreRich Historic site from to the early 1900. For train lovers!
Interesting
First thank you to all the employees for making me feel safe and welcome. As a tourists they were nice enough to translate and give me a great tour through the history of the railway in Guatemala but also some Guatemalan history. I still cant believe it was only 25yrs since the trains stopped running. This was a great place to visit and learn. A must see for any train lover.
MoreNice place for those who like trains
The tour is well worth it, nice collection of antique steamers and diesels locomotives Locals pay 10Q and tourists 30Q.
MoreI realy loved it
Well worth the 2 quetzals admission!
A little gem to travel around the old times in guatemala
Great
I was not bad, but you will get bored very easily, plus there seems to be an unspoken rule about not been able to take pictures to the wagons with a camera unless you pay $200 Quetzales, just your cell phone. I understand that in most Museums you have to pay to take pictures but they tell you in advance. The people there are rude and not pleasant. I do not recommend to visit more than once and 1-hour max.
MoreThis was a lovely, interesting suprise in the city alongside a vibrant market. This would have been a spectacular way to see Guatemala, bring the trains back!!
MoreBeautiful.
History
Nice place!
A really neat place to visit, especially since Guatemala does not have trains running anymore
MoreBack to the past
Well worth a visit if you like trains.
This place is kind of small but have a lot to show love it all this memories took me back to my childhood times
MoreFirst of I want to thank our tour guide Julien, he was very knowledgeable and took time to answer many questions that we had. We spend at least 2 hours here and were very engage. The railroad history of Guatemala is fascinating. Also great pictures to take .staff is great and entrance is affordable. Even if you dont speak spanish, definately check this gem out.
MoreNice little museum - worth the Q2 entrance fee just to see the military relief map of Guatemala just inside the hall to understand how the lowlands and mountains contrast.
MoreNeeds more locomotives in exhibition. They have a lot of boring model trains, and only few real locomotives to see. Its a pitty because they have a lot in.storage, but visitors cant see them. Was a disappointing visit to be.
MoreIt is an amazing place !
Interesting small museum, you can learn history of Guatemala railway here and reasons why railway was closed. You can spend no more than one hour here.
MoreIts historical.
App good
Nice museum
Nice museum to spend a lovely afternoon.
Good history can use some investment
If you have any interest in the "golden age" of Guatemala, then this place is surprisingly interesting. Some great historic relics.
