Railay Rapala Rock wood Resort in Krabi
Description
Clean rooms at very affordable prices. Staff is super friendly. Restaurant also serves good food
Morethe beds are really comfortable, the rooms are clean and the staff really friendly. I really liked everything about the Place.
MoreI stayed in one of the newer, deluxe bungalows. The room was quite nice and clean with aircon, a mini fridge with water, a kettle and a big bathroom. The common area/restaurant is very cosy, with a viewing platform looking over the bay. The restaurant offers decent meals at a more affordable price than the main street. Great location. There was a 2cm slit between the top of the door and the wall, meaning mosquitos could make there way inside. I sprayed repellent around it each day, which did work to keep them out. Be prepared to be woken up by the resident rooster at sunrise. You can follow my travels @revelintravel
MoreThe price is suitable for the room. Maybe a bit old but very good service.
We loved our stay here! Some of the cheapest in Railay, and although basic accommodation the vibe is really cool. Balcony and hammock are a nice touch and the staff were lovely. Great view from the restaurant as well. Sometimes you can even see monkeys in the trees above
MoreView was good and bungalows were overall ok. It wasn’t very clean, especially the bathroom :/. Shower didn’t work well in the beginning so we needed to have it fixed. It’s Very loud at night as the party hostel and the music bars are next door. wifi didn’t work in the bungalows so you had to stay in the common areas for semi working wifi. Lots of mosquitoes especially in the bathroom :/. Food was ok but you get better (and cheaperfood in Railay. For more or less the same price we moved to another resort which was way better (Avatar).
MoreSuper cute place!! Even post pandemic, they have world class service. Very clean and cozy. Hot shower, spacious rooms. Great rooftop hangout in the trees. The restaurant is also wonderful! Food was VERY good and they have the cheapest prices around. Really enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay here again when we come back to Railay. Arguably some of the best views of Railay East beach as you are up high in the trees.
MoreAmazing accommodation on a hill in the Dschungel. The surrounding noises from the nature are fascinating. If l could I would go there as often as I can. For couples its a very romantic experience
MoreThis was a really good spot to stay while we were in Railay. Because of covid, a few things are not as nice as they used to be - the pool and grounds need some maintenance, but the room and bathroom were good. Its high up, so its fairly quiet. Its also close to the Railay East Pier - just a 5 minute walk!
MoreSuch an amazing place. This is where I will be staying when I’m in Railay from now on. The owners are wonderful people who care deeply about every guest’s experience. I stayed in the cheaper room with shared bathrooms toward the back of the resort, as well as one of the nicer private rooms closer to the lobby and restaurant. The beds were super comfortable in both rooms, and you really don’t need hot water when the ambient temperature is always warm. The view from the restaurant is stunning, overlooking Railay East, and the food is always delicious. The local restaurants and bars are also excellent - be sure to check out the Jamaica bar right down the street for some organic herbs or a trip to the moon!
MoreGreat place to stay, gorgeous view, restaurant has awesome food. Staff helped us with everything, bookings, trekking tips and more. We will definitely be back!
MoreThe bungalows are lovely and the vibe in the restaurant is so nice! Theres a fun cart that takes your luggage up the steep climb and a great view for breakfast. Hostel vibes but with class
MoreLive staying here when I go to Railay. Awesome atmosphere, right up at the top so when you sit at the restaurant you get a gorgeous view. The bungalows are all you need when you stay at Railay as you are out of the hotel most of the time. Highly recommend if youre on a budget. Nice little pool too, which is great when you feel like dipping into some fresh water after long days on the beach.
MoreBeautiful stay! We stayed in one of the new cabins and it was really lovely and comfortable. Staff was very friendly. Easy access to all the restaurants and beaches in the area. Note: you do need to walk up a large outdoor staircase to reach the resort area. Additionally, if you arrive to ao na mao pier later in the evening you may need to pay a bit more for a long tail boat to Railay East since they’re not regularly running after 6:30pm (we were able to get a boat around 9:30pm but it cost 800 baht total).
MoreThe standard bungalows were really gross. The only saving grace for this place is the nice staff, cute dog and the soft mattress. Everything else is just poor. The bathroom is atrocious (see picture). If you decide to stay here, just go with the newer bungalows. For budget options you’ll get better places for the same price elsewhere.
Morebeautiful place, Just wish all the rooms had AC and temp control on the shower. within my group we reserved 5 rooms, all for ther same price. 2 rooms had AC and a temperature control on the shower. the other 3 did not. they had a fan, which is helpful at night, but during the day barely makes a difference. ironically, the shower only has cold water without a mechanism to change the temp. overall, it wasnt a bad deal. but I will definitely make sure to get AC next time I book a trip!
MoreSuper friendly staff and good location. The rooms are exactly as advertised. Cold showers, no ac and thin walls are fine. Theres a good well placed fan so the room wasnt to warm and the cold showers are welcomed after a hot day. The rooms come with a bug net, balcony and a hammock. Very relaxing and a good price.
MoreThe staff were incredibly friendly. Excellent location. Rooms offered a mosquito net and fan which was adequate enough. Hammock on balcony was a nice little touch. Breakfast was good and cheap.
MoreWe slept in the bungalows with shared bathroom. Its okay if you dont have money, but if you have money better invest in a private bathroom bungalow. Because the shared bathroom and the room itself are not so great and many animals go inside. Frogs, snakes, etc.The terrace and common space are great. The kitchen is good. Drinks overpriced, I think.Communication is difficult.Got my order mistaken once and paid more.Overall its a good stay at railey.
MoreStaff are so friendly, the resort is great and really quirky. This is a budget place though so whilst everything will be clean it is a bit worn and dated, literally wooden huts in the jungle, no hot showers, that kind of thing. They are building newer better accomodation that will suit flashpackers but theyre not finished at the time of writing.Worth going to the restaurant even if youre not staying as the views over the beach are great and its very reasonably priced.
MorePros:Very authentic feel to the bungalowCleanStaff is niceFood is goodHip place to stayFree conversation and cooking classesNice lounge area in the lobbyAnd best of all really cool reggae bars downstairsGood vibesCons:Bathroom is a pale flush! (Common theme on island though so you have to get used to it)Chickens wake you up at 4am and 7am ( I didnt mind it at all it was a good alarm clock but if you like your sleep beware)Bugs ( what else can you expect in a cabin on an island though wouldnt say its the resorts fault)Overall:Would stay again for a night or two
MoreThe basic cabins were as we expected, very basic. The room was a bit dusty, the walls are very thin and the mattress is more or less a layer of foam and be sure to bring your own blanket and pillow covers because the beds dont have any.But this all came with a certain charm, we had no issues with any insects (no bedbugs), the shared bathrooms are quite new and clean and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The location is stunning and the restaurant has an affordable menu and we enjoyed the breakfast and lunch and if youre lucky you get a visit of a cute squirrel who demands a piece of banana.Fun novelty, they have an elevator for your bags so you dont have to drag these up the stairs. In the end we had a great stay here, good value for money.
MoreRapala Rock Wood Resort was not for us...it was 1 star accommodation. It taught us the hard lesson that no matter how cheap accommodation is, if it crosses the line of what you’re comfortable living in then no amount of savings is worth it. Communication with the staff via Airbnb was slow, short, confusing and unhelpful - by the time we arrived we had no idea where we were going, despite weeks of trying to work it out. Arriving by boat to Railay West, it was a hard 10min walk with our luggage across to Railay East - luckily the signage was easy enough to follow, even though the paths were a bit rough and we passed by gross smell after gross smell. The accommodation is definitely not in a convenient location, but luckily things in Railay aren’t too far away. When you arrive at the bottom of steep, long steps up to the reception, the staff kinda ignore your presence until you are right in front of them to avoid using the electronic pulley system to help you bring your luggage up...so prepare yourself to lug your luggage all the way up and then to your room (no help there either). At check in you get a cup of something red and refreshing - thank gosh after that climb! Some of the staff are very friendly, while others seem lazy and uninterested in being helpful in anyway. You have to leave a deposit of 200THB for the room key, and then they walk you to your bungalow - it’s a pretty expansive area, so it may be set quite far back. There is also a lot of rubbish, cats and chickens around the grounds. The bungalows are very, very basic. There’s a tiny sitting area out front with a hammock, a very small room with a very hard bed and hard pillows, but a decent mosquito net. The room was sandy, and there was a note that they are “short on janitors” so things may not be clean...the step over the line for us was the descent down some steps into a dank, damp, mosquito-filled adjoining bathroom that smelt terrible, was just gross to use, and didn’t have a toilet that flushed. After one night there and no shower (too grossed out to use it), we bailed down the road to a resort. Best. Decision. Ever. I should note, check out was not great either.Despite all of that, the food at the restaurant was surprisingly delicious and well priced, especially for Railay! I’d avoid anything deep fried though - something went wrong with my stomach after eating their tempura vegetables. This type of accommodation is definitely for certain types of travellers, and we were not that.
MoreIs basic but well located and cheap !Quiet.Rooms with shared bathrooms and towels are included in the price.Toilet and bathroom are clean but the tourists are less clean...The food prices are very correct next to all others on the island !Very nice coffee and good food too.Gentle staff
