Railway Museum in Mysore is a famous place among the places to visit in Mysore in one day of your Mysore trip. Rail Museum was established in 1979 by the Indian Railways authority to exhibit the railway collectibles. The Museum portrays different pictures of the railways and collectibles. Children find this museum as an interesting spot. Rail Museum presents steam engines, wooden pillars, vintage rail lamps, lights, tickets, ticket machines, railway clock and many more are found in Rail Museum.

Best place to know all about trains. Adults and kids entertained alike. My son, all of 3, enjoyed the toy train ride. Knowing from NG, MG and BG to how steam engines work, to how there existed car train, crane train and bus train is mind blowing! Spent a good 1.5 hours here. Fantastically maintained, even the restrooms were well maintained. Not at all crowded on a weekday unless you bump into little ones from school on a picnic. Must visit. Ample parking. Closed on Tuesday.

Surprisingly a very well maintained museum. Very clean, lot of greenery and tons of interesting artefacts, like the engines, coaches and of course the Maharani’s saloon.Can easily spend around 2 hours there. Very close to the railway station.The store in the museum has a lot of good souvenirs too.Great place to learn the history of trains.

This place is good to get insight of rich indian rail journey. Good exhibits for display. This place is not as big and as much exhibits compared to National Rail Museum at Delhi yet it has its own charm and knowledge to share with visitors. Definitely recommended to enjoy with kids. This place offers a two round toy train journey with cost already included in entry fee. This place also offers a cafe inside a train compartment.

This is my second visit to the railway museum and during Dasara time. There was not much rush, given we reached at around 11 am. After renovation this place is awesome. The place is well maintained, tidy and staff is very helpful. You can easily spent more than an hour and for sure your kids will enjoy their time. They have a joy train tide included in the ticket. They have converted one of the train into a small cafeteria that serves snacks and juices - Prices are slightly on a higher side but it’s ok given its inside the museum. There is a small park for kids to play around. Toilets are clean & well maintained. Adequate parking space available and they charge Rs. 30 for car parking. Please do visit the museum if you are in Mysore and especially if you are with kids.

Museum is simple good. It is near the railway station, ticket costs around 50/- per head. We can get a ride on a toy train for once and the ride will be two rounds ,it would be nice. There are some earlier railway equipments in the museum to watch which now a days people may feel new. There is railway inside the museum but it was quite costly.

There is a rail museum in Mysore. This place has been filled with general knowledge. The museum as many old trains , but has only one running train for tourists. We have to take a ticket in the beginning (entrance). And the lower portion of the same ticket is for the running train 😊. The waxed statues are like TTE ‘ Railway officer’s, luggage carrying man statues are very attractive. The main point is the museum is cafeteria is also in train 😀This is also one of the famous place to visit in Mysore.

Clean and well maintained place. Great ambiance and doesnt give a stuffy feeling of museum.Can cover the place in 1 or 2 hours. Perfect to go with little kids. The back fence is adjacent to Mysore railway station pl. no. 6, so you can see a live train or two too if lucky.

Another attraction, especially for kids is a model Railway Station at the museum entrance named ‘Central Park’ with a model ticketing counter. The kids will be allowed to ride in a battery operated Toy Train on a round trip from this ‘Central Park’ station. En route, they will be greeted by a ‘Toy Band’ created from scrap materials by the staff of Mysore Workshop, a tunnel, model railway crossing and railway signals. Each gallery has a touch-screen monitor with information about the collections there and the history of these collections at the museum.👌👍

Its a must-visit spot to visit with your kids if youre around Mysore. There are lots of still models of trains used in various eras. Theres a toy train to roam around within the park. A small coffee shop is there. Have to pay a fee for parking your vehicle. The ticket charges are Rs. 50 per head. You can have a view from the watch tower accessible through a lift.

Loved the place. well maintained. Has plenty of info about the railways and rail equipment.Gives us a glimpse into the history as well as the evolution of the train system in India. It can be coved in 1 hour and is conveniently located next to railway station. Do take out time for this one when in Mysuru

A must visit for all. Got to see a lot of old British era trains too..The museum has great exhibits, a toy train, beautiful open spaces. Fault is we visited in night & we regret that decision..This is one of the best maintained & designed museum I have ever seen...So nostalgic....❤️

Mysore rail museum takes you back in time.Maharanis train is really interesting. Tickets are priced at 50 for adults and 20 for children.You do have pay and park facility too.You can easily spend 2 to 3 hours here.Do hop into their toy train.Its a well maintained museum. Definitely a must visit while in Mysore.

Different types of engine are present here. It is very much cleanAlso , you do get a small train ride (2 rounds.There is a lot of information present on different types train/engine.Even , there is a TV present inside it which shows different types of information (like how a train tire is built)There is also a cute snacks shop as well that is also inside the teainVery much recommended.

Very well planned Rail museum. It’s small, beautifully designed with old Rail engines.Toy train ride was fun which was included in the ticket.Ticket price is too low. Lots of photography spots.

Museum was so maintained and good part this place is less crowded and go spend good time. They provide small train ride with 100 meter this ride for everyone , everyone enjoyed .Ticket - 50 rupeeClosing time 5:30pm

I couldnt give justice to my visit to this place due to paucity of time.It is located just close to railway station.This place will surely enrich your knowledge on Indian rail, its history, evolution of equipments etcVery well maintained. You can have fun learning here. Theres also a toy train ride.Some really good spots to click pictures.I would like to give a detailed visit to this place in future.

There are more items showcased in museum. Self operate screens for videos and photos for railway related concepts and information. Toy train available, we can spend 30 - 60 minutes in museum.

Fantastic place for kids especially. A place where history is depicted. There is train ride inside and kids will enjoy. A good place to visit and learn few things how railways has evolved over last many decades.

The rail museum in Mysuru is amazing, it is beautiful, vintage and well maintained. There is a lot of stuff you can learn about old trains here. And also there is cute built in Cafe inside a train coach. You will have a lovely time here if you go as person who wants to learn about trains.

A glimpse of Indian Railways history and technology which is now obsolete but is still fascinating. Be careful if you have infants or small kids as they do not allow any milk bottles, edibles, diaper bag etc to be carried inside. Charges for still camera are Rs. 500 !! Mobile phone is allowed free : ..You can enjoy the toy train ride. Good place to visit.

Nice place to kids. Can spend up to 1 hrs. Nothing to special. Inside the museum toy train ride is available. Toy train ticket is included with entrance ticket. And one train coach was modified as canteen. Overall suitable place for your kids.

One of the best places to visit in Mysuru and very near to railway station. Has good, well maintained older steam based Engines and coaches at display. A toy train along with well maintained garden surrounds the Museum.

Absolutely lovely place. Probably the first place i am coming across that is disabled friendly too. All areas very well laid out, spic and span and has a lotnof engines to explore. Lots of memorabilia to enjoy too.The toy train ride was quite thrilling for all ages.

Historic Train couch of Mysore royal family is also at display here.Overall satisfied after visiting the place.Food is awesome too.Its very near to Mysore railway station.One drawback DSLR camera fees are high (Rs 500)

Entry tickets were cheap but they charge Rs.500/- for still cameras. Not worth paying it because the place is not so big with only few models and a toy train for kids. Cafe inside was very basic. The best feature is RK Laxmans common mans statue.. Overall a good place for kids...

I had visited it multiple time it is a good place if u are interested in history, loco motives and is a good way to teach children about trains. They also have a toy train ride. I think u need to pay additional to ride the train they have a souvenir shop.

A memorable place to visit with family and kids. The museum is beautifully maintained.There are tens of locomotives from multiple eras with their descriptions placed near them. There is a toy train ride through the tracks laid across the perimeter of the museum, which is a must try. Plenty of places to click pictures from.

Awesome Museum. Spent 4 hrs here while waiting for train. Just 5 mins walk from the Railway Station this is nice museum capturing rich history of Indian Railways

Its a one of a kind rail museum. You can find all kinds of trains, engines, working parts, communication parts and different designs of trains. Its a great place to bring children. Very informative and interesting place to must visit.

Really informative place one must visit. Both adult and kids can enjoy a lot here. Entry fee is 50rs per person free for 5years below kid. Its having a toy train ride, a cafe and a shop. They maintained it very well. We can see very old engines to modern engines.

Just a few hundred meters away from the Mysore Railways Station Mysore Railway Museum is the fantastic place in Mysore and perhaps best thing happen to any city. Taking forward the legacy of Mysore, this Railway Museum is truly the best and worth place to visit and deserves to be yet another legacy of Heritage City Mysore. Some of the erstwhile beauties of Railways fleets that once ruled the Railway tracks ,the Railway Museum has all those beauties. The well-maintained, beautifully arranged and fantastically showcased, it has really brought the memory of Indian Railways golden era to life. Spending time here in this museum is indeed a memory.

This is a very nicely maintained museum. Its worth a visit in Mysore. There are decommissioned trains, trains that were made for the kings, narrow, broad and meter gauge on display. A good cafe on wheels and a souvenirs Shop are there inside. Toy train ride is included in the entry ticket..

This Museum provides information about Railways and its evolution from the olden days. The place is equally good for kids and adults, as kids can find the toy trains and other displays interesting, while adults can understand the history. The entrance from parking slot has an old but magnificent Cast Iron gate which was built in 1927. You can see some of the old machines like Ticket punching machine, Cash chest, ticket tube and a lot more.The most priced possession of this place is the Maharaanis Saloon used by Maharani of Mysore, - with special dining room, study room, bathroom etc, which is well maintained here. You can also enter the TV room where a lot of video information is available.

A best place to visit in Mysore with family and kids. Can have a good entertainment for 2-3 hrs. Kids will enjoy much here for sure. Free parking available for bikes and cars at left side corner of museum. Fare are Rs.50 for adults and Rs.20 for kids. You can get a free ride inside, ride will be available in timings with the interval of 30 mins. Outside foods not allowed and there is a cafe inside the museum, you will get snacks coffees there with higher price. Overall a good weekend experience, but avoid weekends mostly, there might be a rush.
