Ragland Mansion B & B in Petersburg

This was such an incredible experience staying at the Ragland Mansion!All the history has been meticulously preserved in every room you walk in to.Claudia, the owner, was simply the best! She gave us a tour as soon as we checked in. She took our breakfast order the night before and had it ready at our preferred time.We had such a great time during our road trip, that we stayed again on our way back home. We also brought our puppy and he had a blast walking through the enormous mansion.We stayed in the Library room which provided quick access outside to let our puppy out. The Library room was a great size, clean with all the amenities needed in a room.My fiancé and I will be making a trip here again in the fall! We love this place!Thanks a million Claudia! Communication with the owner Claudia was superb. The Mansion is very clean, the decor was appropriate, the room and bed were very comfortable. Breakfast was great. Coffee, juices and a variety of selections. My wife and I highly recommend The Ragland Mansion and we would stay there again the next time we are in Petersburg.!! 😃

Really elegant and maintained home where you can just park and walk to Petersburg things to do. So much space to dine in the big rooms, coffee & drinks everywhere inside, a sweet back area with tables and chairs to sip wine (complimentaryand write postcards. Large bedrooms, modern heat/water. And Claudia is a warm and gracious host and chef. Thanks!

The home is a classic and so nicely decorated. The hostess is terrific and her breakfast was wonderful. The breakfast areas accommodate large groups as well as two people to sit quietly away from the crowd. Our room was huge and so very clean.Take a break from staying in a cookie-cutter chain hotel and treat yourself to something special.The home is a short walking distance to the house where President Lincoln met General Grant just before the end of the Civil War and a short drive to the Blandford Church and Cemetery. You can walk to the historic part of Petersburg...about a mile away....and not worry about parking.

This house was a Wonderfully appointed 19th century home! Not only was it beautiful, clean, and tastefully decorated, but the ambience is marvelous. Claudia is an excellent hostess, and her attention to detail is above reproach. I would recommend this bed-and-breakfast to anyone who loves historical detail, but also wants a warm and welcome to stay. The rooms are very large, and the closet tub did not disappoint!

My 16 year old daughter and I stayed here and we loved every minute. We just wish we could have done more than 1 night. She is already making plans to go back with a fancy dress so she can pretend it is her home.

We stayed at this B&B and loved every minute of it. The hostess is so welcoming and thoughtful. The breakfast is amazing. Petersburg is such a cute little town and this B&B is the perfect historical way to experience the area.

I cannot say enough great things about Ragland Mansion and Claudia the owner. Our rooms were beautiful and beds comfy. Breakfast was very well prepared, fresh fruit, bacon, sausage, eggs. Plenty of coffee whenever you wanted. But the topper was Claudia driving my sister and I to Richmond airport and stopping on the way so we could get lunch. We did not ask her to take us, she offered out of goodness of her heart because our flight did not leave until 8pm and we were kind of stuck there due to our rides having to leave early that day. The Ragland is very close to some great places to eat, the Dixie Cafe, and Brickhouse Run amongst others.

A stay at the Ragland Mansion is a step back into time. Elegant room after room, sit in a chair and soak in the ambiance of mid- to late-19th century furnishings. A very special experience from the usual I-95 trappings. Youll be surprised at just how accommodating the Ragland Mansion is to the weary traveller!

Found ourselves needing to stay in the Petersburg area last minute for a baseball tournament. I was able to reserve two rooms the week of our travel. The mansion is beautiful inside, there are some renovations going on but nothing that detracts from the beauty of the home. The manager couldnt have been nicer or more accommodating to us. The food portion was very good, the amenities were all there, no sacrifice even though the building was built in the mid 1800s. We would absolutely stay here again if we find ourselves in this neck of the country.

Absolutely magnificent. I stayed in the Georgetown room, which is stunning. Beautiful room and bathroom complete with a clawfoot tub perfect for soaking. Claudia, the proprietor, could not have been more gracious and accommodating. Im a local who just needed a relaxing night away, and she will be seeing me again, as frequently as possible!

This is a very special place. Truly wonderful B&B in a beautiful building and with a very warm welcome. Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful stay. The owner and her brother were wonderful and attentive. The breakfast was great and the facility was beautiful. We will definitely be returning and highly recommend.

I would give this place 6 stars. Outstanding! The room was large and comfortable. The breakfasts and coffees were out of this world. Luxurious and tranquil setting. The best part is Claudia, the proprietor. Sweet and so helpful. Will do whatever it takes to make your stay pleasant. And a great cook! Ive traveled all around the world and Ive never met an innkeeper as hospitable and kind as Claudia Bezaka. Dont pass this place up.

Stayed at the Mansion for 3 nights room, beautiful and quaint. If u like old restored mansions this is the place for you. Architecture was amazing.Claudia is the the perfect hostess and was there to meet us and available to answer any questions. Definitely would love to stay again. Loved it!!

Originally planned to stay 2 nights but could only do 1. The place and rooms were amazing. Our original room has some plumbing issues before we arrived so they upgraded us to another room that was available. Beautiful, better than expected. The inn keeper is very friendly and helpful. Ill definitely be staying there again. Complimentary, snacks, coffee, tea, wine, the place could not be more welcoming.

We loved our stay here. A lovely room and our host was lovely as well. We will be back!!

This beautiful place is AMAZING! I spent 2 nights here for a wedding and feel in love with the historic culture, wonderful food and accommodations, and friendly staff! I live in South Florida and this place makes me want to make a yearly trip just to stay here😍 You will not regret choosing this magical place! We dont want to leave! This mansion is one of the best overnight stays Ive ever had anywhere. It is beautiful. I wanted to look at every little detail all over the house. It is so rich with history. It is grand and just truly amazing. Everything is spotless, the furniture is comfortable, the bed and linens were very nice. The bathrooms with their clawfoot tubs are a treat. The marble fireplaces were beautiful. Claudias hospitality is spot-on. She is so kind and makes a wonderful breakfast. I wish we were in Petersburg more often just so we could stay here. Any time we travel back, we will definitely be staying at Ragland Mansion.

Claudia was a wonderful host, and provided us with a very comfortable room and delicious breakfast. We couldnt have been more pleased that one of the old, lovely homes is being renovated and used sensitively as a B&B and event venue. Although not in Petersburg often, will definitely stay there again if in the area.

I absolutely LOVE Ragland Mansion.Breakfast was provided every morning and was delicious. Each room is different from the last, there is a very pleasant sitting area outside in the back of the house. All of our guests stayed at the mansion and everybody adored it. My niece absolutely loved the "secret garden room". I adored the bathtubs that seemed to be in every room!We had a black tie event at Ragland Mansion and it couldnt have gone any smoother thanks to Claudia. Claudia took all of the stress out of setting up for the event. Claudia is kind, welcoming, considerate and efficient. The house is absolutely wonderful but I truly feel like Claudia was the best part of our stay. Thank you again Claudia for making us all feel so welcomed!

Very nice stay. Claudia is doing a great job restoring this historic mansion while still making the stay comfy and reasonable. She is a charming host and quite knowledgeable about both the house and the city. As of mid October 2017 the website is inaccurate tho.. she is working on an update, so make sure you call for current pricing and availability! If the price looks to be good to be true - it aint! If youre looking for a nice stay near the old city, this is a good one! Handy to main roads to battle sites as well.

Beautiful architecture and interior work in this 1857 mansion. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Staff was exceptional. Welcoming, conversational, and ready to detail the history of Ragland mansion. Food was spot on as well. Could not have asked for a better experience.

We discovered The Ragland Mansion because my mother had recently seen it mentioned it in a novel she was reading. Since we were travelling to nearby Williamsburg, and the book went on and on about how delightful it was, we decided to check it out. We were SO glad we did! Claudia, the owner, is a wonderful hostess - friendly, charming and incredibly accomodating. There was never a moment where we didnt feel completely at home. From her delicious hot breakfasts and the well-stocked coffee and tea bar to the chocolates in the suite, she made sure everyone was well taken care of the whole time we were there. The mansion itself is absolutely stunning. Its obvious that a lot of love has been put into the restoration. There are still areas that are works in progress (like the cupola), but these things make the house that much more charming. We stayed in the Camelia suite and it was incredibly comfortable and beautifully decorated. All of the beds were cozy, and the bathroom was well outfitted. The entire suite was immaculately clean. Downstairs we enjoyed the solarium and the adorable back garden as well as the more formal sitting rooms (the architectural details in these areas are just breathtaking). The house, of course, comes complete with its own ghost - no B&B in this area would be complete without one - but dont worry, shes friendly. :We had a fabulous time thanks to Claudia. Our entire party agreed that wed be back soon. Ragland is a hidden gem in historic Petersburg and you shouldnt miss it. Five stars!

Told us there would be Sunday brunch made by a chef. It was barely a continental breakfast. Terrible
