Rackwick Beach - Scenic point in Kirkwall, United Kingdom
An amazing beach that always has such loud thunderous waves even on calm days!
Rackwick bay, a magical place with its own microclimate
So quiet and still....and the high hills all around make you feel small and insignificant - very humbling. Great place to come have a picnic, but I would recommend paying for lunch at the cafes on the island to help boost the local economy.
Quiet and beautiful.
Remote and tranquil.
Gorgeous beach and we had it to ourselves. Toilets open (2 near car park, one in bothythough bothy shut. Not particularly easily accessible as big round stones to navigate to get to the beach. Make sure you do the walk up to Old Man of Hoy, allow 3 hours. Spectacular scenery and not too much of a climb.
Lovely sand beach at low tide, rocky at high.
This place is WoW. Beautiful and I cant find the words to describe it. Must see, must visit.
Nice walk to the beach, not ideal for everyone. It was a few hours of feeding my soul and it was a shame to have to leave to go back to Orkney mainland.
The most beautiful place in the world
Heaven on Earth
We spent a few hours at this idyllic location a couple of summers ago. The weather wasnt great, but that meant we almost had the beach to ourselves. One of the most beautiful UK beaches I have visited.
