Small offshoot of a Parisian bistro serving French food with organic, biodynamic wines.
If you want to eat great French foods then Racines NY is the place for you! Top chefs that make mouthwatering dishes that will make your palp scream for joy. So come on down and teste a bit of France. Located on Chambers Street right across from City Hall down the block of Chambers Street.
the future of food is here. paired with one of the top wine programs in the city... impossibly good, cannot recommend enough
Most excellent cuisine and service!
Wonderful food, extraordinary service, great wine, and a very safe feeling indoor dining setup.
The best restaurant I encountered while visiting New York. Great customer service, very European-like: take your time to dine, calm atmosphere, amazing dishes and good wine. While I have a lot of love for the United-States and their dining culture (efficient, fast, tasteful and plenty), this place was a breath of fresh air.
Went back here after a 4-year hiatus and was blown away. Food was an excellent balance of originality and old favourites, wine list is one of the best in the city and prices are some of the best value in TriBeCa. New top neighborhood spot for me. Go for the lively vegetables, splurge on the steak.
Been there for dinner a Wednesday evening, we were 2 people. What fully convinced me about Racines NY is the perfect balance that theyve been able to create between a very high quality cuisine and service and a charming and relaxed atmosphere at the same time. The waiters and the sommelier, the great Pascaline Lepeletier, were as professional as cool. That might be the best word to describe the restaurant: just very cool. The dishes we had are probably part of the top ones I had at restaurants lately. The best of the year (for now!for sure! Thanks a lot to the great team of Racines NY. Cant wait to come back when in town again.
Terrific spot with a great wine list and some very creative cocktails. Its always a good sign when your server brings you two different wines to taste after you ask for a recommendation. The menu is small, but varied, and I enjoyed everything I ordered. The kitchen also did a wonderful job accommodating my dietary restrictions. Also note that sitting at the counter gives you a view of some of the cooking and plating , which was interesting but it was a little hectic, so I would try sitting at the bar or a table next time.
One of best restaurant and one of the best meal ever. Was there last October with high expectations, I had reserved a month in advance (maximum they allowand was not disappointed!Im a big fan of sommelier Pascaline Lepeltier, her achievements and especially her philosophy. Love the fact the menu fits on one or two pages, but that the wine list is 70 pages +. As a sommelier myself it is one of the most exciting reads! My friend was a bit scared when Pascaline told us she would take care of the wine selection (he saw the list and some random prices, lolbut it turned out just perfect. We had two wine pairings (half poursfor each service and it was fantastic. All courses were extra delicious, but the Bobo chicken was something else, literally the best chicken I have ever had. Lost all my table manners at that point, it was very personal with that chicken! In the end when the bill came I was pleasantly surprised, was expecting more for that kind of experience so I ended up ordering an extra glass of Sherry (nice selection of course!). Kudos again to all the team, I will forever be willing to pay to eat you guys food and drink your wines :)
Delicious food. Amazing wine list. Great service. Nice ambiance. The chef pays close attention to the construction of each dish as can be seen with the little details. All dishes were well executed. Waiter was very knowledgeable on both the food and wine. Loved that they had a strong natural wine presence on the list as well. Price is a bit on the higher side but reasonable for what your getting. Would definitely come back.
Wine lovers heaven. You won’t find a place in NYC with a more incredible wine list. Sommeliers of the world converge at this lower Manhattan gem. And the intimate and cleanly-designed restaurant setting makes for a truly unpretentious, but still upscale dining and drinking experience.
I don’t want to be rude. On the pros side, they have an extensive wine list and if you’re a local maybe this place is convenient for you. But I made a detour in full disclosure from midtown to come here. Honestly it didn’t blow me away. Menu was very small, almost as if it was designed to just have a few dish options to their huge wine list. Overall the dishes weren’t that tasty, simply put. I read somewhere that they’ve changed chefs multiple times. They don’t seem to have things right at the moment. As a local neighborhood spot if I lived closeby, I’d give it 4 stars. Considering I made a detour to come here because of It’s reputation, the experience felt like a 3 star one.
I really feel awful for giving Racines such a low rating. I have had several wonderful experiences there in the past, but given that its so pricey we save it for a special occasion. Last night was our 8th wedding anniversary and it seemed like the perfect time to return. Upon arriving, we were given a lovely table by the window and we were feeling happy and excited about the meal to come. Our waiter came over and we said we wanted to order some bubbles and a few appetizers to get us started while we perused the menu. He said he could not do that. He had to have the whole order at once given how long the entrees take to prepare. I explained that we were not in a hurry because we were celebrating. He would not budge, and then because we were hungry and not relaxed, it made it hard to make a decision. We literally just wanted to nibble on something while we were deciding. When we finally ordered, he did promise to course everything out and he did honor that. The entrees were fine, but nothing to write home about especially given the price. We ended the meal with the cheese plate which was served too cold and the cheeses themselves were uninteresting. The som was very nice and directed us to a nice bottle of wine, but at $95. Total bill was almost $350 with tip! Bottom line we could have gone to La Bernadine for not much more and had an incredible experience or Fausto or The Finch in Brooklyn for superior food and an equally good wine but for far less money. The service at all of these places is delightful and warm and friendly as well. And one more thing....when they bring your food at Racines...they give you a long verbal description of what it is. I find this so prententious and intrusive when restaurants do this. So unnecessary....I read the menu and ordered it. Let the food speak for itself! Truth is...the food at Racines doesnt speak for itself. Not at these prices with incredible competition in NYC! I sadly will not be back! Racines has become pretentious, unfriendly, overpriced, and uninspiring!
Amazing foods and Beautiful space. Customer liked healthy breakfast and best server.
Every dish was a combination of so many flavors that were all complimentary. No dish was simple. Each dish was so palatable. The servers knowledge and enthusiasm of the various wines that were paired with every dish was admirable. I could taste the wine just by his description. We sat at the counter and watched them prepare our meals. The team work so well together. We truly enjoyed our meal, and we were mesmerized as we watched the kitchen staff put together our meals.
Went in the late Summer. And ate mostly small plates. I sat at the kitchen counter and got to converse with the cooks and Diego (Im in the industry, so I like these types of interactions). The beverage program here is DOPE. And the service is solid, attentive and friendly without being overbearing. The menu was very much a story of the best ingredients available that moment in the season. The peach and sungold dish was definitely my favorite of the evening. Ive been wanting to go herewuen visiting NYC for years, Im glad I finally had the opportunity to go.
Foods were OK, with no surprise. Pretty nice wine list.
Food was absolutely amazing, fried artichokes, steak tartare, sepia, roasted shallots, pork, grilled duck...all amazing. The wine list is incredible and the staff is very knowledgeable. No corkage fees on Monday so we brought a few goodies and bought some too. Definitely will return.
Not impressed. The menu choices were just too expensive for what the restaurant is. The presentation was overly complicated. “Hiding” the sea bass under a layer of greens was silly, the scallops special was completely inundated with a layer of greens. Service, although attentive, was clumsy.I’m sure this restaurant has a loyal following. But it’s just not good enough to get me back there.
Arrived at opening for happy hour and appetizers, the wine specials were delicious and staff were very helpful in recommending dishes to try. Had great fun perusing the massive wine list, incredible. Highly recommend.
Price point feels a little high recently. Loved the chef that was there, and really digging the new chef so far. Staff very knowledgeable about wine selection. Coazy little spot with great menu options.
We had such a strange experience here...which was so disappointing because it came highly recommended! We were meeting friends in the neighborhood for dinner, but had an hour or so to kill. We told the hostess we were just trying to grab a drink and were fine waiting for a spot at the bar. After 10 minutes nothing opened up, so we asked about one of the (manyopen tables. We said we would probably order a bottle and a few appetizers and she was happy to seat us (to be clear, the hostess was lovely, wonderful and accommodating and genuinely so nice). In 20 minutes we saw our waiter once. He dropped off drink menus, and never looked at us again. He did however, check on the table next to us at least 5 times in those 20 minutes, asking if they needed anything, if he could send a sommelier over, refilling water glasses, he was constantly checking on them, even though they told him multiples times they were still waiting for the rest of their party. We were ready to order, but ended up leaving without ordering anything because we never had a chance. We tried several times to flag down our waiter and he looked past us every time to check on the incomplete party. Totally bizarre.
So much has happened in this space already.I think they finally have found there chef .Now they have a New chef ,new kitchen staff and a new menu . Chef Moya has always done interesting food with his own spin.I enjoyed my meal this evening . I cant wait to see what the kitchen does in the future, after they get comfortable in there new home. Congratulations and Best of luck Chef
Top wine list in NY. Lieborents menu did not disappoint as well.
Stopped by this cute place. Love the Ambiance. Appetizers were amazing but main course was cold for my wife and the Iberia ham just all fat. Nice wines and service but should rethink the dishes. Shame as so much potential.
Really nice fine dining French Asian fusion restaurant and bar. Surprisingly well priced.
The service is slow but nice. Food was so-so. Much of menu items were out. Very good natur wine listing.
Dropped in for a drink with a co-worker and was pleasantly surprised. The bartender was knowledgeable about the various wines they carried and made a perfect recommendation for a hot summer day (a white Bordeux).
The tasting menu was well devised. Paul Liebrandts residency this summer is a welcome addition. The Morel mushrooms and Squab were delicious. Be sure not to miss the verona chocolate dessert either!
When you see regulars eating both at the bar or bringing guests to the restaurant, you’d know you’ve found a restaurant worth repeating. The food is solid. We’ve tried all the mains and a couple of the appetizers. My favorite is the fish, but the pasta and the meat dish are all excellent. But the best part is the wine, interesting organic and biodynamic wines. Ask the sommelier for recommendations, and you won’t be disappointed. They also have wine tastings.
Food from Chef Liebrandt was very good. But the service was extremely slow. Not a place for vegetarians unless you notify them in advance. It was not a welcoming atmosphere. I won’t be going back. Plenty of other places in NY where you can get good food but have much better service as well.
One of the best wine lists in the country. Superb service. Great atmosphere. Delectable menu. Veal tartar was 😍🍽️🤤. All the deserts were beyond reproach. Looking forward to seeing what the new chef will bring to these amazing tables.
Really solid wine list at reasonable prices for those willing to explore the world of fine wine. The staff, especially Pascaline, are very humble and knowledgeable. Great environment!
Such a gem! Delicious food, cozy atmosphere, friendly service, and amazing wine!! My fiancée and I had a wonderful time, we highly recommend it!
Ive been to both Racines in Paris - and this location is a huge disappointment. I got the tasting menu ($75, 5 courses), asked for wine pairings but they didnt have any. The wine selection was good, but the food courses were not thought through. While the ingredients are incredible, the dishes are all extremely greasy.1The waitress provided no spoons and told us to eat our starter butternut squash soup without - "sip it like a soup." I refused to and got a spoon. My boyfriend complied and got a mouthful of melted butter. Sipping definitely didnt improve the flavors or the experience, only encouraging him to imbibe the separating layers.2The veal tartare with mayonnaise was good but nothing mindblowing.3The salmon in mayonnaise sauce, topped with roe, was overly fatty. The salmon by itself was delicious. The Mayo overpowered the roe and the salmon. I couldnt appreciate the subtlety of the roe due to how fatty the sauce tasted.4Fried fish fin with potatoes was good but, again, barfood fatty.5duck thighs with potatoes were standard.6chocolate caramel cake was way too rich after such a rich meal. Both my boyfriend and I thought that the ingredients by themselves would have tasted better than what the chef did to them. Disappointing.
The food is excellent. Along with the food, a glass of wine or mixed drink would be nice. I had a glass of wine, but was more overpriced than I would have expected. They did have hapoy hour prices, but only at the bar.
Upscale? Not really. Great food? Not really. They dont even serve bread. I habe to ask for this??? The menu is limited. Is this a french restaurant or a wine bar with limited over priced food. Not impressed with the wait staff, i dont usually post reviews unless im disappointed. I was disappointed.
There is a large choice of wines in the drink menu which is appreciable. Meals are delicious but portion are not enough. Plan to have a $100 /person budget.
Great food, excellent friendly service, nice crowd. Enjoyed our evening out with friend tremendously. Good for a romantic dinner as well.
Everythings perfect in this place, from the wine witch is totaly amazing, to the food (this Provence touch is impossible to find somewhere else in New York), passing by the very friendly staff...I definitively and strongly recommend this place. Cant wait to come back there !
Food was delicious. Yes, the portions are small, but hey its a french restaurant. If you are looking for a nice experience in a relaxed environment, its a great spot in the neighborhood.
Best wine list in the city and delicious food
What the hell is wrong with the service here? Food comes out after 40 minutes of ordering because the chef is to busy chit chatting with regulars. What a let down. The wine list is impressive, just the GM needs to be replaced with a more competent one thatll take service a bit more seriously.
Delicious Chefs Tasting Menu! The hostess described each dish as it was presented. The sommelier recommended a great wine. This was a great dinner had by all.
Excellent dinner, especially the tuna crudo with peaches, the pasta with lobster with blood sausage and pasta and the duck breast with blackberry sauce. Wonderful, well-priced and unusual wine list. Knowledgable servers. Had a meal two days earlier at the highly touted Inn at Little Washington. This was better.
My favorite place in the neighborhood. Everyone talks to me in here like they know me already, its like they treat me like family. Food and wine is amazing too! And also they have an open space where the kitchen is literally right there, so it feels like Im at my friends house or something. Really good vibe!
Very creative, elegant while laid back approach to French gourmet bistronomy. Chef Frederic Duca and very talented Kevin, Jose and the rest of the team bring their French and Marseille influence to New York City in a very intimate and relaxed atmosphere. My wife and I ordered the "Menu Degustation" where the Chef and his team craft their best dish based on your general preferences. Pollock in Oxy sauce and Sea Urchin were some of the highlights but they kept surprising us all night.
Have been here a few times. I cant say enough good things about this place. The wines are excellent, staff is knowledgable and passionate, and the food is excellent. I recommend the tasting menu if available and you have the time. Otherwise it is a great place to have a glass or two.
Owner is nice, staff is great, space is beautiful, wine selection is amazing and food remembers me my favorites Parisian restaurant. Fish is perfectly cooked... Desserts are super good, tasteful, right texture and look goods, which is rare for restaurants in NYC!
At first, It was Clean thats why I wanted to try this french Bar-Restaurant... the rudest of the sous chef to the personnel make me think about the condition the food has been prepared and.. Right on! the food was cold and for instance no gloves was used for the preparation. I was mad but one of their Appetizers finally make me smile. Not planning to return to be exact.
