Eatery by chef Michael Mina offering upscale French fare with NW flair & an extensive wine list.
A delightful experience beginning to end. The staff members superbly welcomed us and described the menu. The “tasting”’was something to behold - wonderful small portions, rich with flavor, complex, with small bites in between, paired perfectly with a series of memorable wines. Wonderful.
I highly recommend getting the "experience". Its definitely pricy, but its well worth it. The only other restaurant that comes close for me (so faris the Inn at Langley, which is quite a bit more expensive and a much different atmosphere. The food was cooked perfectly, I very much enjoyed foods that I generally dislike, and I ate too much bread... Be patient, they serve a lot of food and we were totally stuffed at the end.
RN74 was one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. The food was amazing and the service was so friendly and welcoming. I recommend this place to anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion.
Love their happy hour and their last bottle menu!
We went for a celebration dinner! I got the onion soup and it was to die for. My hubby got the steak tartare and was amazed by its delicious flavor. We both got the steak with duck fat fries and will certainly be going back. Not only was the food phenomenal but the service was very attentive and the atmosphere was warm. Yes it is expensive but you are definitely getting what you pay for. If money is a factor try the happy hour.
I had high hopes for this place but it somehow missed the mark. I feel like they are trying super hard to be special and unique but there wasn’t much about the food or drinks that stood out to me. The French onion soup was decent—definitely better than most I’ve had in the US. I had the pan fried chicken and it was good as well, but again, nothing terribly special. If the prices weren’t so high I probably would have been more satisfied with the food. For those kinds of prices I really do expect to be blown away. The service gets 4/5 and the wine list was extensive. We probably won’t be back.
The food was extraordinary. I had their cocktail made with Four Roses Bourbon and Pinot Noir reduction syrup. It was light yet super flavorful...I had three of them that night. We had their raw oysters and they came with a light vinegar sauce that was a perfect complement to the oysters (as opposed to cocktail sauce which covers up the oyster flavor). For entrees we tried their halibut and pork. The presentation on the halibut was unique. The halibut was a full filet but was sitting in a saffron based bouillabaisse with clams, calamari and mussels. It came with a toasted piece of sourdough on top which I used to soak up the saffron sauce once the seafood was gone. I am a fan of bouillabaisse but its easy to overcook the seafood. By cooking the halibut separately and adding it to the bouillabaisse at the end the fish stayed perfectly cooked. Kudos to the chef. The pork was bone in and fork tender. My only complaint was even though the pork was very juicy it didnt have as much flavor. It came with grits and brussel sprouts. My date loved it and finished it. Maybe the saffron sauce from my entree was so good the pork didnt seem as flavorful in comparison. Both entrees were consumed in their entirety. We were too full for dessert although the beniets looked good.Service was a team effort and was good. The bar got a little backed up making drinks but it was a busy Saturday night in prime time so we werent concerned. We will definitely eat at this restaurant again.
Fantastic wine pairing for everything. Great, innovating and inspiring food.
This is a really great place to eat for dinner. The atmosphere and lighting is amazing. Especially for an intimate dinner or date. The service was also outstanding. The food was pretty good too, but I was expecting a little more. I had the beef tartare, truffle mac and cheese and duck fat fries. The food was tasty, but not excellent. Overall, I recommend this place for the atmosphere and service and personally, Ill order something different next time.
Love it! We caught happy hour and had a delicious late lunch. The drinks look good too, but we did not have a chance to try this time. I will be coming back to try some drinks as well as their dinner entrees. I came for escargots, but they weren’t available for happy hour this time. All the dishes we ordered had fresh ingredients, creative flavors, and overall delicious.
Came for happy hour, i said extra limes & got them : very classy place. will return for dinner.
I can always count on delicious food with incredible service at RN74 (Micheal Mina). It is my go to for business and special family dinners. Happy hour is great too. RN74’s duck fat fries trio and tuna dish, prepared at your table are just a few of my favorites. There are so many. Wine selection is terrific too.
Stopped here for cocktails on a Saturday afternoon around 4ish. Pretty cool vibe, with a nice bar and loungy area. It was happy hour- the food selection for that was a bit limiting and very french of course. Had a nice time!
Lovely place for a cocktail and beautiful aesthetic! They do not provide a full menu until after 5pm though.
Great french restaurant. They have awesome collection of wines, they also have wine expert available in restaurant who can recommend food and wine combinations. Few friends ordered steak and few did fish, as they said all were great in taste. There were few vegiterian options were also available. Awesome food and excellent wines. This restaurant is on luxury side. So you should be ready to spend $$$.
Went for happy hour; had the mussels, the duck frites, and the mushroom fritters which were excellent. (Frankly, they were so eye-catching, I forgot to take a photo of them). The duck fries were amazing, and the mushroom fritters were reminiscent of tempura style -- and dont forget to try the sauces. The mussels werent as consistent as I would have liked (4 stars?but the broth was good. In terms of the entrees, the cod and the chicken were ordered. The cod was excellent and worth reordering; the chicken was not as impressive. Both sides were fantastic.
this place blew me away. The service and food were both impeccable. I had the most tender hanger steak Ive ever eaten here. The steak tartare was also worth trying. They actually mix the tartare in front of you. The wine selection was delicious. I subbed my fries with a mushroom fennel side dish that was amazing! I highly recommend coming here for a date night or even with a group. They have happy hour from 4 to 6 p.m. and offers both drinks and food items. I support Michael Mina and all his endeavors.
Visit during Seattle restaurant week. Food was delicious. Bigger than expected portions so you wont go hungry. Service was fine if a tad formal for me. But thats just me ... very fine dinner.
I went here with my husband and another couple and we had a wonderful experience. Our server was good-natured, knowledgeable, and went out of his way to make us all comfortable (even my very sweet but picky and somewhat idiosycratic friend). Three of us ordered the Prix fix (guess who didntand the courses were all quite creative and very delicious. The vibe was trendy but not stuffy, the wine and craft cocktails were good. I would dine here again for sure.
We have passed this restaurant for many months and decided to try it out for V-Day. We got snowed in and had to reschedule our visit. So glad we did! You must try out this amazing RN74! The drinks were perfection and the food was to die for. You have got to eat the bone marrow and try the juicy steak. Of course we didn’t leave room for dessert, but now we have a reason to return and tackle the mousse. Must eat here! The ambiance is not too loud and perfect for an intimate date or enjoy a party of friends. #contentawarephotography check out my Instagram. We returned for appetizers and drinks. Still amazing and delicious.
Excellent cocktails plus a few stand out dishes, though a little on the pricey side.French onion soup, duck fat fries, and steak are regular go tos.Train decor gives a theme while staying upscale. The departure board of wines is an especially nice touch.Reservations recommended, but some seating is usually available at the bar.
The most extensive and detailed wine list ive ever seen in my travels with plenty of assistance at any level of wine knowledge to get exactly what you are looking for from 20 to 20000$The food was delicious, the layout of the front upscale casual and the environment very hospitable. Would be great for a date or special group night unless you are a wino looking for food and something new.
We had the tasting menu, and it was pretty wonderful. The service was over the top. You can tell they strive for excellence in service, to the point that they seem a bit tense, which is fine. It may be that they are emulating an idea of french waiter aloofness, because although the service was amazing, it was not particularly friendly. It might be that they are stressed by the pressure to be perfect. Anyway, no actual complaints. And the food was fantastic. We commented on the fact that each course in the 5 course tasting was very rich to get their thoughts on that, to both our server and the general manager, who came to our table a few times. One of the reasons is that it is a french restaurant and french food tends to be rich. The other reason is that it is winter, and the dishes reflected that. They change the tasting menu completely every three to four weeks. The wine selection that went with the tasting was fantastic even at the basic level I chose. I would go again.
The food here is amazing. Complex flavors, well designed in every aspect from the recipe to the plating. Service was delightful, friendly and American as opposed to a more formal European service, but they will bring the food out however you desire. We wanted our appetizers brought as they were ready, but had we wanted to receive dishes together they would have defaulted to that. Delicious, well-crafted cocktails, seating for large groups or more intimate booths facing in to the rest of the restaurant. Perfect for date night or a business dinner, prices are a bit high for just "Im hungry where should we go" night.
I really enjoyed my visit and the staff was the main highlight. In used to pretty disinterested service from most places in Seattle but the staff here is a wonderful exception. The menu is very interesting and is not just your normal French favorites. I will definitely be back and suggest you give them a try.
Food is fantastic. We had the bone marrow, pork chop, Mary’s chicken, and chocolate mousse. The pork chop is slightly too raw to us even we asked for well-done. Nonetheless the quality is top notch and we will definitely come back for the long wine list and extraordinary food.
Went for a corporate celebration dinner. Staff is super professional and very attentive. Fine dinning in downtown seattle. So expect the best. Small menu, but diverse and well thought out. I was impressed by the high class cocktails and the selections of wine (by the glass or bottle). It is a mix of cozy lighting and formal seating. Saturday night made for a busy and slightly noisy experience, but that is to be expected. Food was very savory, well flavoured, and cook exactingly. Out of the eight of us no one had a bad remark. I thought the prices were fair for the experience.
Great food, I had their pork belly sliders and a hard cider. They were so good. The service was phenomenal and improved my experience beyond food. I would recommend to anyone visiting Seattle to splurge on dinner here. I came back with my fiance the next day and got the burger royale and their dulce de leche cream puffs. SO GOOD.
Service was great. Atmosphere was very cozy. Chicken was a bit dry but the Mac and cheese was fantastic
Ive had many fine dining experiences and was ready for a snooty atmosphere. I was happily surprised by the food, service and the general ambiance! Our waiter was very friendly in addition to being knowledgeable. The food was fantastic and the seating was comfortable. Really enjoyed the experience. One of the best restaurants in the close by area.
Hands down one of the best steak frites I’ve ever had (and I’ve had quite a few!). NY strip was cooked a perfect med-rare, and the fries were cooked in duck fat, and perfectly crisp on the outside while hot and gooey on the inside. Definitely pricey, but really great bistro ambiance.
Great staff, great food. Bill, the bar manage, always makes me the perfect drink, even when I dont know what I want.
This place has hands down the best bread. The waitstaff has explained it to me multiple times and I keep forgetting whats in it, I know theres some truffle oil and its made in house. Its shaped kind of like a roll and comes with this amazing spread thats surprisingly not made out of butter.Anyway, Im a HUGE steak frites person and this place did not disappoint. Service was great and the food is top-notch, its a Michael Mina restaurant. Id recommend making a reservation as its a bit more of an upscale restaurant. In addition to the steaks, Id recommend trying the mac and cheese (Beechers!and duck fat fries. Absolutely delicious.
Incredible service. Great food. Lots of personal catering. Nice variations on some classics.
Superb Supper at RN74. Tonight I enjoyed an early evening dinner in the bar of this wonderful, posh, busy upscale restaurant in downtown Seattle. Bar service was spot on, friendly, and efficient. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Dinner of lobster bisque, salad and dessert were a bit pricey but well worth it. I highly recommend a meal here.
An absolutely standout restaurant experience from my trip to Seattle! The atmosphere is a blend of comfort and upscale dining with a menu full of creative and complex flavors. The tasting menu was well designed with great selections from the full menu and a solid list of paired wines. The staff was also extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I honestly cant recommend this place enough! I hope I have the opportunity to go back!
Always a solid meal. I do miss some of their older options, but their valentines day tasting is great as always.
Great service and atomsphere. Even on a busy night where there was a bit of a draft for my partner and they couldnt switch tables, they brought in a heater so that my partner wouldnt be cold.Food was superb!
Wow. This spot is great - low key, but a little fancy!! Great flavors and the lobster is a must add on side dish. Above average fries and delicious cocktails. They have a really cool (and loudwine reader board for LAST CHANCE bottles of wine - v cool!!!
Not sure about this place, the wine list is the only impressive thing I found about it. Salmon is served with a very bland lentil and its hard to taste the claimed truffle butter in it. Hatched chicken dish wasnt bad but nothing extraordinary for a highly reviewed restaurant of such. To be fair the french onion soup was delicious, but oh well for a "french restaurant" thats the bare minimum. Beautiful interior and friendly staff.
A very cosy setup, kind of an old fashion style and very comfortable. For happy hour, the menu is not that extensive but what they have is well executed and fantastic quality and taste. Service was efficient and friendly. This was #1 in our three part happy hour crawl for the evening.
Came here for the SRW, kinda disappointed at the selections of the menu as well as the speed of service. Anything that is interesting requires a significant upcharge. The wine list was extensive. The dishes were not as anticipated, both were soupy, flavorful nonetheless. The desert was the highlight. Regular price for the dishes are really high. Unlikely to come back again.
An amazing encounter - wine, cuisine, and team of knowledgeable and professional staffs. Impressed by the sommelier Paul, we ordered a burg we would normally not choose due to its hot vintage (2003), appellation (pommard), and producer (Pillot). It was a bottle that awed and allured us from the first sniff. Waiting for it to open without emptying it was the hard part! Food was as impressive as the wine. Highly recommends the chicken, its juicy texture is as impressive as the complex flavour in the aged duck. Extensive wine list; Tight menu, but every dish we tried are cooked perfectly. Last but not least is the team, all knowledgeable, helpful, and attentive to all details. Would come back again for sure!
One of the best tasting menus in Seattle when chef Ben Godwin was charge ( I havent been back yet to try the menu under the new chef). The deconstructed clam chowder and the strawberry rhubarb tarts are two of my all-time favorite dishes. The truffle rolls are really good.
Limited french menu but the food was cooked to perfection. The wine list is amazing and has a great selection at all price points. And the orphan bottle list on the wall using a train schedule board is so cool.
Authentic Moroccan food, we had the Dinner Special w/several courses and left happily stuffed! Try the drink with the Fig liqueur...Yum! Belly dancer was nice, but not very good and out of shape. Good and friendly service, if slightly uneven. Love the feel and decor. We will return when in town
What an amazing dinner!!! My girlfriend and I went there last week and the food was phenomenal. We always try to have an experience when we go out and it was easy to do here. We ended up going with the tasting menu and putting our dinner in the hands of RN74s chef. When it comes to the food, it was a good balance between adventure and flavor. We both tried new things and thoroughly enjoyed everything we had.
Took my boyfriend out to dinner here for a special occasion. The restaurant is a lot bigger than I thought it was going to be. Our waitress was very nice and the food was awesome. We had such a fantastic experience here. For an appetizer we ordered the tuna tartare. they mixed it up table side. This dish is crazy good! One of the best tuna tartare Ive had. I ordered the Pan Roasted Hatcher Chicken. The chicken was amazing! So much flavor. The mushrooms were too salty and the "gnocchi" was not really gnocchi. They were good, but just not gnocchi. My boyfriend got the steak frites and he absolutely loved it. The fries were some of the best fries weve had in a long time! Super crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside with a great garlic flavor. For dessert we got the apple tartin. perfect size! The thing I didnt like was it had a very strong burnt taste to it, like the caramel was burnt. I could not figure out where it was coming from. It kind of ruined the dish for me. Will definitely be going back!
Came here looking for drinks as a prefunk to dinner reservations up the street. It was the third place we tried, and while we only had time for one round, service was good and we were able to find a spot for our medium sized group on a large couch in the ye bar area.
The service was incredible!!! Our server went out of his way to make sure we had the best dining experience. I had trouble choosing between two entrees. Before our main courses came he surprised us each with a small plate of the dish I had not chosen, but really wanted made to special order! The food was excellent and the wine was fantastic.
