RED Mountain Resort - Ski resort in Cloverleaf, United States
Nice hotel overall, but there is a lot of construction going on around it right now. There is also very little parking and the parking that is available is basically on gravel and rocks. If you want to park underground they want $20.00 a day which is ridiculous given what is going on outside.
We dug the variety of Terrain, even with thin conditions, found plenty to ski. Trails are well marked. Loved staying at the hostel, “Nowhere Special”. Casual and comfortable and close to the slopes. Slush cup was a hoot! crowd and staff were all friendly and inviting.
Awesome ski hill and awesome staff all around. Its got a ton of open terrain across three mountains (or five if you have a set of skinswithout the crazy lines of more popular resorts.
High Performance Ski Shop - I rented various skis here this week, hoping to buy. I cannot speak highly enough of Vito and Josh! They got out pair after pair of skis for me, showed me differences, LISTENED to what I was looking for, made excellent suggestions, and could not have been easier to work with. If you are looking to buy, or just want to rent a great pair of skis, visit Josh and Vito. Oh, and excellent selection of skis also. Everything I had read about in Ski Magazine.... Thank you, Vito and Josh! See you next year.
Staff is mega friendly and everyone has a very relaxed attitude on the hill. Great terrain, lots to enjoy for all ages and abilities. Interesting out of bounds areas to explore.
Terrific hill. Would recommend spending some time with a mountain host. We had a fun afternoon with host Larry showing us around the mountain. He was superb.
Great friendly mountain, lots of terrain, shame its warm!
I go skiing there almost every weekend, it is an amazing ski resort. Great food, and the three mountains pack a whole lots fun, its a different ball game with each of them. It is also a great place to learn to ski. Also to add, it is in a great community, with great stores, restaurants, coffee shops, and amazing people. I have nothing bad to say about Red resort, or Rossland.
Amazing resort! Epic on snow days and has enough terrain to ski for days without bumping elbows with other skiers, like you might experience at other resorts.
Nice resort but the chairs are horrible! They are all fixed grip chairs so they don’t slow down when loading or unloading and then they take sooo long to get to the top. It feels like I’m spending more time on lifts than actually skiing. Otherwise, there’s good terrain, diverse runs, so not bad at all.
This resort is easily one of my favourite places to ski! Rossland is blessed to have this hill with tons of runs, knee-deep powder, and friendly staff. The mountain is usually uncrowded as well with next to no wait times for the chair. Hidden gem in the Kootenays!
This hill is awesome! Gorgeous views, helpful staff. So many choices of runs. 25 mins ish to the top of the highest chair (Motherlode from basethough, so plan accordingly. Also the Paradie lodge food, and atmosphere is quite a bit better than base Lodge, didnt get a chance to check out the taco stand. Covid protocols are the same as everywhere, wear your mask at all times unless your skiing.
This resort is one of my favourite, there are a wide variety of runs for all levels of skiers or boarders. Also lots or tree runs and jumps on the side of green runs. Just be warned, there aren’t any easy runs from the Red Mountain Chair, I learned the hard way. The only complaint I have about this place is that all the lifts, except for the Silverlode Chair and the Grey Mountain Chair, are very old, uncomfortable and slow. Other than than that I had a great time and will try to visit again.
Went to red Mountain for the first time and had a 20 cm snowfall overnight. My friends and I had an unbelievable experience. I asked an employee at the bottom of the mountain where we should ride in hopes for some local insight. She explained to me that there were mountain hosts available to show you around. I have never had a guide show me around that wasn’t a friend, but decided to take up the offer to try and make the most of visiting a new mountain. I explained that my friends and I were very advanced and wanted a guid who could find us steep and deep terrain. She introduced us to RANDY! Skiing with Randy was the best outcome and experience any of us could have asked for. Not only did he educate us on the mountains, the lifts, and where not to ride. He took us to so many great spots that we would have never found on our own. We were going threw fresh powder, top to bottom, from the first run, till the last run of the day. Randy was more then just a mountain host, He become our friend. He went above and beyond for our group! If you have the chance to ski with Randy, and have him as your host, DO NOT let opportunity pass. I nominate Randy for President of Red Mountain. He is an absolute legend.
The mountain is truly a fantastic place to ski. Great trails and runs. Fabulous trees. We were lucky enough to have amazing snow every day....dump after dump of freshies. Hard to get to, but well worth the trip. All 6 of us found Red to be a true gem and vowed to return. Some of the very best skiing weve ever done.
A real skiers mountain. Amazing, challenging terrain and snow that stays untouched for days. Wonderful ski culture as well.
Great place for a ski holiday. People are awesome, mountain has alpine tree skiing that is Second to none anywhere! Food is awesome at hill and accommodations are convenient and reasonable.
Steep and deep, all friends on a pow day. No bad days!!! RED is a must if you enjoy the shred.
This mountain is an absolute dream we stayed at red for a week. Rossland is a beautiful little town also. the only down fall I would have to say with the hill is food options at the resort. Some vegan options would be great, you dont always want to cook after a long day of skiing. I posted a few we made in our condo
Awesome for summer hiking. The trail to the top of red mountain is well marked, well maintained and diverse. It starts in tall, dense forest and progresses through stages and peekaboo views to the summit with panoramic views. In July the wildflowers are amazing! The trails are also mountain bike trails, seemingly a well-respected sharing.
My favourite mountain resort. So much open space. I was so surprised by the amount of beginner terrain available for those learning on the lower half of the mountain! It is an extreme mountain & oh I had so much fun but I see an opportunity to target more families.RED, as a marketing coordinator, you guys should capitalize on this!!The Cat Skiing was so fun!! We were able to lap it on a long weekend?!Everyone is so spread out you basically have the mountain to yourself it’s awesome.
Amazing place, wonderful runs...boots fit perfect, friendly staff. Didnt want to leave.
I spent two full days at Red mountain on Feb 21st and 22nd. The snow condition was great and we never had to wait more than 2-3 minutes at the lifts. There were so many great runs that it took two days to explore the three mountains. Some fresh powder would have been great, but the weather didnt cooperate.
We loved our trip to Red at the beginning of February! We were lucky enough to have some good snow while we were there and even though it was a 10 hour drive from home it was absolutely worth it! We took a mountain tour our first day and our guide, Larry, was phenomenal! He took us up all the lifts and helped us to find excellent runs for our ability. Red is huge but surprisingly approachable and friendly. We never had to wait longer than 10 min for a lift and most of the time there was no lineup at all. It might just be my favourite place I’ve ever skied.
Amazing hidden gem, a bit tough to get to but that makes it all the better. Special thanks to SnowHost Mike, he went out of his way to help us find the best snow and perfect lines. An all round great guy who even hooked up with us on his day off, his local knowledge and history of the town and the resort (and cabinsmade our trip super memorable. Hotel Josie was top notch, staff were also really helpful and friendly, it was a bonus to have the ski valet and close proximity to the lifts. Rafters for apres really can’t get more authentic for what a true mountain town apres should be. Thanks Red Mountain, we’ll be back! Oh...and zero lift lines, even leading into Family Day weekend!
Great mountain, friendly staff, easy parking and good food on mountain
Great resort for all levels. 360 degree skiable mountain is very fun. Very expansive resort. Lots of beginner runs and also significant vertical with lots of features. Very playful terrain.
This is a pretty enjoyable Mountain for snowboarding regardless of your skill level. Despite still being new and only comfortable on more novice Blue runs, there were plenty of runs on which I was comfortable and plenty that could test my skills. Even if you are a beginner, you needn’t fear going up the mountains as there are Green runs to descend most of them.
Yes, this place is awesome, the mountain is huge and theres good amenities onsite and in Rossland which is a few minutes away. We were there in for KTM adventure rally
Out on the boys trip! We had a great day found lots of fresh lines! Great lunch with excellent service! The lift operators were great super happy! Cant wait to go back again!
If youre fortunate enough to get to the mountain on a powder day you may have to wait in a line, but once youre up on the mountain its like you own the place. A ski hill like nothing else Ive ever been on. Best snow Ive ever experienced. I honestly just love this place.
Not many lifts - 5 chairs of the non detachable variety.. But it gives you access to large variety of runs esp if into skiing trees. Not so much for the beginner plenty for intermediate esp for advanced/expert skier. Accommodation at the lift area or 4 - 5 km down the hill at Rossland with free shuttle each half hour am pm then hourly during the day.
Uncrowded, lots of vertical with plenty of options to ski down. Not just for experts but for families too, kids have green runs all way from the top, while you can shred through trees and black runs. The views are amazing and the resort also provides access to the backcountry. Also the RV parking is free (limited to 5 daysand most of the resort has cell coverage, and even free WiFi at the base. Red is my favorite resort in BC.
Impressed with the terrain of course, but also the staff and local people, very fun! If you are lucky if will be sunny and will get amazing views.
A lot of space for everybody to spread out overall not a very busy hill in high season. Accommodations are reasonable in the village, and Rossland is 10 minutes away with all amenities. The cat skiing for 10$ per ride on top of your lift ticket is nice addition that you can’t get at most other mountains. Unfortunately it was a low snow fall season in Jan 2019 and the temperature was above 0 in the sun so it didn’t make for ideal conditions. Would love to return when there’s more snow.
My boyfriend and I recently visited the red resort. It was my first time skiing. Everyone here was amazing! I took two ski lessons. Jean a.k.a grandpa and Natalie was awesome! I had the best time with Jean, who I call grandpa in my head. He was amazing! You definitely have to take lessons from him. I went to the blue trail just after taking a lesson from him. I absolutely fell in love with the mountain and skiing. Definitely, want to come back next time and take lessons with Jean again. Thank you Red mountain resort! I had the most fun!
Loving this mountain. The people, the feeling and just the spirit of Red! Everyone is working hard to make it a great experience, no matter the snow conditions.
Disappointing. Should not open until more than Silverlode and T-Bar is operating. I paid fifty bucks for a bunny hill! YAWN.
Red Mountain might be my favourite place in the world to ski (so far). It may not have the fastest lifts in the world and the biggest infrastructure, but neither did Revelstoke before it became big. I have never been disappointed with any day I’ve skied at Red, and that includes days with ice and rain. I’ve never been here in mid-season either, only ever at the end, but I dream of the day when I can finally ski real Red Mountain powder. Absolutely love this place.
I was only camping in the parking lot, but the people were very friendly. This seems to be a popular place summer and winter. I liked it!My son in law and my daughter ran the Broken Goat 50k trail race!
Best place I ever snowboarded at. Can’t say enough. 2 bedroom condo. Heated floor full kitchen hot tub on balcony steam shower. Nicely decorated. Lift tickets are affordable. The mountain is mostly glades and wooded back country, but there’s something for everyone. Not a lot of people. Small base area. But there’s over 4000 acres to ski at. 3 full mountains and one severed by 10 dollar cat skiing. It’s not a big corporate ski area. People are so friendly. And then there’s the Canadian exchange rate. Use the free snow host program. They’ll take you up for a couple of hours and show you the area by ability.
We had a couple of very cold days here in February, 2018. The snow was amazing, and there are a variety of runs for all skiers/boarders. The trees are great too! The only drawback are the chairs - no high speeds. We were freezing by the time we got to the top! But there are great lodges to warm up in! Overall, great skiing, great food, nice staff! Try to get Dieter as your host-we all had a great time!
Went snowboarding here yesterday, snow was absolutely perfect! Huge mountain, only downside is slow lifts. Will definitely be back!
This place is amazing. The snow wasnt great during our trip but that is how it goes when you have to plan a month in advance. Even with the snow situation, this place was perfect. No lines on the mountain and great lift ticket prices, amazing views, 360 riding access, easy traverses for those snowboarders, and awesome apres at Rafters. The folks in the town are amazing as well.
Very nice units. Great location. Had an amazing trip here. Would highly recommend.
So many glades!! Absolutely loved this place and its now my second favourite BC/AB mountain (behind Revelstoke).
Awesome gem of a place. Skiing much better than you might think. Steeped in history.
My wifes 2X great uncle is famous for having established downhill skiing in Canada at Red Mountain. His ashes are scattered on the mountain. It was fun seeing what his work became.
An overlooked ski area with a low key vibe and great terrain.
Varied terrain - many interesting ski runs - great lift operators. This resort is not "hyper commercialized" but is very skier friendly.
