Phenomenal experience.I had high expectations. The $250ish USD a person price tag (that you had to pre-pay!made me feel very judgmental and skeptical at first. Our party of 8 had to wait outside the restaurant until they opened the doors at 6 PM on the dot for our 6 PM reservation. The interior is beautiful. The elaborate wooden interior throughout is so eye-catching that it made trips to the bathroom an experience to look forward to.If I take a step back, based on food alone, I may have given RAW 4 out of 5 stars given the egregious price tag. What elevated RAW to my most memorable Michelin restaurant experience was the service.Theyre big on story-telling. The menu is crafted like the program of a fancy dinner theater. Every dish was introduced with a 3 minute description of its ingredients. Our waiter insisted that plates be arranged in a certain order before we ate, that bread be dipped in certain sauces. The particular nature of the dining experience had me vacillating between being floored by RAWs passion/creativity and a feeling of keen pretentiousness. Then Chef Andre himself emerged from the kitchen to give some color to a specific dish. We asked him more questions, and he responded at length. Realizing that Chef Andre was willing to entertain our overzealous curiosity, we monopolized a good 20 minutes of his time. He told us about traditional labor intensive French cooking methods he wanted to preserve, about his kitchen cleaning process, about his olive tree. We were enraptured.Only by witnessing the sincerity of Andre Chiang himself did I truly then appreciate how special RAWs menu is. The creativity and story telling turned a dinner into an experience of artistic love. Thank you Andre for sharing this with us!p.s. thank you to our generous waiter for the extra mashed potatoes 🥹

Quite a disappointing experience. We booked the lunch set for NT6880, and have to say the food standard is nowhere near as good as advertised. We didnt feel any of the dishes served were very impressive and in general the taste was mediocre.Service was good and friendly, however the environment was much too noisy, making it difficult to hear the food introductions.Maybe we expected too much with the hype but feel definitely this meal was not worth the the price.

Simple ingredients but with creative cooking, serves with a visual luxury experience, the table manager passionately explain the story behind each dish and the hospitality service will keep your month, eyes and ears busy all the time.

It almost seems the biggest focus is on the design rather than food. Very scenographic indeed, but only 1 dish was really wow, the lobster recased with softshell crabs, that was amazing. They call themselves a French restaurant, but it doesnt really serve French food. The Taiwanese trend among Michelin starred restaurants is rather confusing. They always day they eant to put the spotlight on Taiwanese ingredients with Western techniques, and a focus on freshness. But all this obsession with freshness cant justify a somewhat blandness of flavours. I cant see the rationale behind the 2 stars besides the prices and the décor of the restaurant.

Amateurish service, especially wine service. Poor pacing of courses lead to long wait times. Overly involved exposition of courses. Strong visual and technical skill presented, but food itself lacks soul or depth of flavor.

Chic French restaurant with comforting environment and ambience. Foods are absolutely delicious. However, I think the price is getting way expensive, and the reservation service is awful. We booked a table on 16/07/2022, but one week before that day we suddenly got a text saying that they’re closed that day for no reason, and we must re-arrange our date or simply cancel it!? We tried to make a call but it was impossible to get a person to talk to. The only way to re-schedule our table is to send a SMS and then wait for the respond! How terrible the service it is!

A daring, eclectic risk-taking chef and a beautiful modern art setting headline what is probably Taiwans signature restaurant but alas, the food, while presented beautifully, at times lacks craftsmanship and touch. Some dishes fall flat and highlights in taste (not sightare few and far between. Rotating seasonal menus showcases Andres range. Not worth the stress of obtaining a booking.

Had the world tour. This is the second time, I’ve dine in RAW and both experience were pretty 😑. Spent 9800 each with wine pairing and I have to say it’s an art exhibition but the taste doesn’t catch up. I would give 5 stars to the presentation but had to minus 2 stars for the food taste.

After 8 months since last visit, the menu is spring menu as compared with last summer. The foods are totally different. Spring menu may fit white wine better. However, we brought Opus One with corkage fee of NT$1000 that is expensive. The presentation of food is good and the service was slightly worse than previous one. Previous one was at Chef’s table and servers were much more experienced ones. Overall experience is good. The experience with Raw this time is better than last time from the beginning of booking. It was always a bad experience of booking since the opening of the restaurant. It improved a lot as compared with before. The experience of dinner is better than lunch. Raw introduced a lot of green into the spring menu. The meat is very limited but the price is not less. Overall experience is very good especially the manager knows how to handle the food with wines that we brought ourselves. The corkage is expensive.

It was a fun, delightful dining experience. But mostly, it had nothing to do with the food itself. Presentation, presentation, presentation, I did enjoy three or four of the dishes out of a 12-course set menu but I wouldn’t call it mind-blowing or revolutionary either. None of the creative cuisines stuck with me after I walked out of the restaurant but it was a joyful ride, entertaining to say the least. Given the price, I’d say no wonder it was such a hot spot. The staffs were properly trained to bear with one too many Kodak moments from almost every single diner. Been there, done that, appreciated the effort and the spirit, but it just wasn’t for me.

Creative for creativity’s sake and I’m not into it. Price-wise, it’s very fair compared to Michelin restaurants abroad so that’s not an issue if the food is good. Beautiful wooden sculpture design out front but questionable choices in regards to the furniture/décor in the waiting area and hanging art. Not sure how this place has even one Michelin star because the ambience was not good at all. Very noisy, the top 40 music choice was also strange for a fine dining restaurant, and the staff was rushed and tried taking our plates away before we even finished the course we were on. The tables are also very close together—to the point where we could hear other people’s conversations very clearly. The taste and presentation of the food were both sadly mediocre, sometimes even a little unappetizing. However, giving it two stars instead of one because of the staff member who helped us book the reservation—really detailed and courteous and frankly the only Michelin worthy thing about this restaurant.

Very impressed with the creative yet highly delicious cuisine offered by RAW. The dining atmosphere was friendly and fun. It’s a treasure for Taiwan’s fine dining world. I had the TWD3500+10% Autumn set menu for my first visit this time, which I consider as very reasonable. The slight drawback was the tea pairing - it’s nice but definitely too pricy at TWD 1200 for five small tea sips. I would suggest to go for soup pairing(TWD 780 for four kinds of delicately prepared and very unique soups served in Chinese tea cupsand just order one set of tea pairing to share with others in the same table. This will make the dining experience completely perfect! 🤣

I admire the creativity and the effort on their ways to use local ingredient as well as reiterate local Taiwanese delis. The service is good but sometimes unnecessary kind:One time I was walking out of the restaurant after a meal (paid, of courseand was stopped by the staff, in a firm yet friendly manner.Staff: “Sir, can you please wait?”I: “Something wrong?”Staff: “You need to get in line if you want to take pictures”I: “I just want to leave”She asked me to get in line (to get my picture taken like many other visitorswhen all I wanted to do was walk out to the restaurant. For some guests, we just want to enjoy the food and atmosphere, that’s all.

Finally went to raw after trying to book for 3+ years! I’ve heard some people having bad experiences here and was a tad nervous, but also excited to try this Michelin 2 star restaurant.Food- 9/10 As Raw has a new menu every season, I don’t know about the consistency of their quality, but this seasons menu was great! Using a lot of local ingredients and traditional Taiwan spices with a backstory definitely enhanced the experience. Of course, there are 1-2 dishes that I thought was not really to my taste, but all the dishes were creative- while not sacrificing taste.Service- 9/10 Our server for the day (his name was Davidwas really awesome! He was great at introducing each dish in an interesting way and answered all our questions. He was also pretty humorous. Cant say the same for other servers tho, one of them brushed crumbs on my lap 🤦🏾‍♀️Atmosphere- 8/10 the spacing between the tables could be wider, but the bathrooms were awesome! Designed as little space pods with complete privacy(as all bathrooms should be)Overall a great experience, hopefully they are consistent so I’ll have the same awesome experience when I go again next time.

Ambience was great, it sets the tone of the meal. Theres an airy, unpretentious vibe about the entire place despite it being a fine dining restaurant. Food was comforting and novel, with different layers uncovering itself in each dish.

For A Two star Michelin fine dining, the foods quality are great with no doubt.I love the bread, desserts: white sesame tofu w/ ice cream and turtle-shaped rice cake which is transitional dessert of Taiwan! They make it really good! The pasta with cuttlefish on the side, sauce was too salty for me.The sommelier very friendly and professional. Also the waiters and waitresses were very welcoming. Can’t wait for summer menú.

A very special experience. Went there with a bunch of friends for lunch. They have 10 dishes for the lunch course, and the dining time is around 3 hours. The waiter would come to your table and introduce the ingredients and the concept behind the dish when it’s served, which is great. As for food, they use many Taiwanese local ingredients on their dishes. Some of them are really creative and impressed me lots, like the tofu inspired dessert. Also, I really like the bread and the cream butter. These are the only 2 items that can be taken out at RAW.Then why 4 but not 5 stars? I ain’t a fan of the pork dishes in this course. I had high expectations since I thought these 2 are main dishes and should taste amazing, but I was disappointed. The pork meat ball is okay. Tho I don’t like the black garlic sauce, the white sauce did taste good. But for the other pork dish, I like the fig stuffed salami but not the crispy pork skin. I don’t enjoy the burnt taste.Overall, still a very nice experience. Next time, I may come in winter, since the winter menu should be the best as it’s gonna be customer choices for the prior three seasons.

THE best dining experience in my life!!!!Theyll ask you which is your favorite dish at the end but its really hard to pick because each one of them are so unique and delicate in their own way. Most of them are a fine combination of Western style cuisine and Taiwanese ingredients, the stories behind each of them are really interesting too. Also the drink pairing is highly recommended! We really enjoyed our night here, cant wait to book our next reservation here!

Great dining experience! So fulfilling and fun!Dishes were created based on traditional Taiwanese/Chinese concept with a modern twist. Not only great for photos but super tasty as well! For me desserts are definitely highlight of the night. The bubble milk tea cream brûlée was placed in a caviar jar, seasoned with a dash of salt and tasted heavenly. For aiyu jelly chef replaced lemon juice with milk whey. It has the same refreshing sour taste, such a cool twist! The restaurant is a lot more spacious than I thought. Love the wood interior design theme. Will come back for new menu!

Awesome summer menu and wine pairing. I love every dishes they come up with and the atmosphere is excellent. Can definitely enjoy a meal with close friends and without all the fuss of fine dinning. All staff knows the dishes and ingredients well. The only down side is it is quite tiring to hear every details of the dish each time. You can’t really expect zero interaction with the staff, so may be not for those who enjoy a nice quiet meal.

Food: 3-star - creative dishes using local fare but only 2 of the seasonal dishes were outstanding. Beyond that, all the other dishes seemed either bland or flavors didn’t work together.Service: 1-star - this is where RAW really slacked. First, they didn’t serve our first dish until 50 minutes after being seated (others were on their 3rd dish by then). The staff apologized and gave us a complimentary glass of wine but the bad service didn’t end there. At the end of the meal (we were the last couple seated in the restaurant), they didn’t acknowledge our special request for a birthday celebration and instead brought us the bill. We reminded them of the birthday celebration and they apologized and got things together but having Michelin stars mean attentions to detail and to completely forget the reason we were dining there in the first place is probably the most egregious of omissions. In summary: Taipei has an abundance of flavorful local dishes around every street corner and therefore Id save my time, appetite, and $$$ and go eat elsewhere.

While we enjoyed our experience at RAW and the food was very good, Im not quite sure i understood a lot of the ingredients and the reasoning behind using it.. I was told by some other friends who went before that local Taiwanese appreciates it a lot more than a foreigner would because of that.. I kind of agree with them..

Enjoyed a delicious plant-based and gluten-free feast(available upon request). It’s rare that an omnivore restaurant is willing to create a full plant-based menu, the chefs at RAW did an amazing job at recreating these dishes. Also had a yummy hazelnut chocolate mocktail.Gorgeous space, friendly & professional service, cozy vibe. Would definitely go back again and again.

Finally made it into RAW Taipei and ate a set course with wine pairing.Decor: The interior smells amazing. Like sandalwood. However, the floor layout while Chic wasnt 100% comforting. Primary problem here was the ambient sound was too high so it was hard to hear servers and friends clearly.Service: Service seemed inconsistent. Of course they spoke Chinese in addition to English, always appreciated. That said one of the servers who waited our table was a bit terse and even went so far as to nudge my hand with a plate instead of asking me to move it; I was talking to the sommelier on the other side.Food: The ingredients were clearly all top class. Everything definitely had a fresh taste and glow youd expect from top grade ingredients. In general Id say they had some great food theory, but fell a little short. Half of the dishes felt out of balance; in several cases far too salty.I dont think Ill be heading back anytime soon, but im sure ill drop in next season to see whats changed.

Amazing!!! The service and creative of cuisine were tremendously awesome when we visited RAW. They tried to cook local materials as it can not only shows how they are different with other restaurant, but also represent how they professional at cooking. By the way, They care environment issue much that’s why RAW has been not providing bottle waters for a long time. To be honestly RAW deserves top level rewards in any kind of perspectives, however the price a little unaffordable if we plan visit every half year lol.

This place is something special. They offer a pre-designed chefs set 10 course meal (9 on the menu plus one last dessert). The menu changes, so you would think this is bad for picky eaters, however this is not the case. I asked for meat options other than the seafood and duck on the menu that day, and the replacement options of beef, chicken, and pork were all amazing dishes on their own. In particular, the truffle sous vide chicken they replaced the cherry duck with was some of the best chicken Ive ever had. My other favorite was their take on instant noodles (friend crispy noodles served with dried seasoning packets). If you are a foreigner or picky eater but want a taste of fancy Taipei cuisine, I cannot recommend this place enough.Three special parts that brought this together as an experience more than a meal:1. Music is a mix of house, trance, and lo-fi hip hop. I recognized Nujabes, Zhu, and Odezsa.2. The wooden bar and lighting was a serious peice of art.3. A great selection of drinks for everyone. I felt like coffee, and was happy to find they offer chemex pour-over and areopress espresso.

High CP, great Creativity, fresh ingredients and the nice decor earn the 5 star. Each dish was carefully explained so that every customer could appreciate the effort put into it. Love the creativity and the technic. But the flavors tend to cater to the Asian pallet, more sweet, lack acidity. Service was great, almost too much as they kept cleaning the table, a bit disruptive at times.

Last time I came to RAW was 3 years ago. This time, theres great improvement in the quality of their food and service. The flavors are more refined and subtle. The meal was French with hints of Taiwanese. Their michelin star is well deserved.Instead of an uptight, high class environment, they opted for a cozy and friendly atmosphere. The waitresses were even at times humorous. some dishes, such as the stir fry instant noodle was fairly fun to eat.My favorite dish was the fish soup. The paired wine increased the soups umami and gave it a fruity aroma. However, the main course, duck breast, was a little chewy and on the dry side. The dessert was refreshing and not overly sweet, giving the meal a good finish.Lastly, get the wine pairing.

The dinning experience is fairly okay. Dinning in Taiwan, you can just focus on the food since that’s where its famous at. Mr. Chiang did make the Asian cuisine experience different in a fresh and oddly satisfy way. Although the price did scared some people, but if you are asking the same price in Europe or North America, you won’t find one.Overall, unless you are bored with Old fashion Asian food, you can try them here.

2017 spring menuThey show high respect to the food ingredients from Taiwan . Dishes are simple , but they do put lots of effort to design every dish . As a local , you will not feel amazed by items from the menu. But if you taste the menu from a foreigner point of view . You will be amazed by their food. Thats why I rate it 5 star . They did a good job to show the true taste of Taiwanese food .
