Quintana Beach County Park - in Tecax, Mexico
Playground, super clean beach, amazing staff. Cabins were amazing.
I love going to Quintana Beach it was so relaxing and fun. We stayed at the big house just my husband and I. The house can sleep up to 10 guest comfortable and very clean. The management are great and very accommodating. This is a awesome place to get away for the weekend or vacation time to be near the waters without the crowd. We live in Plano, TX but it was so worth the travel time!!!! Cant wait to go back!!
The beach is very clean. No trash and the water is so freaking clear. Today it is very calm. We haven’t even seen a crab; which is weird.
Great place to camp (full hook upsjust a cart pull away from the beach where you can relax, fish or play. Oh and dont forget seeing the HUGE boats!
Nice to find shells may have to dig a little but you can find big ones ho early in the 🌅 to find the best ones
For beachgoers I thought a $5 charge was above expectations... but if you plan to make use of the park facilities; was nice
Great little beach park! You can watch the ships go by, hang out on a well maintained beach, or fish from the pier. The RV hookups are in good shape, parking pads are clean and well paved. There are coin/app operated laundry facilities for guests wanting longer stays (such as myself). Restrooms are cleaned regularly and well lit. Highly recommend this park!
Great place.Walks on the beach.Fishing lighted pier an Jetties to fish from. Can watch the big ships come into Freeport Harbor.Cabins to rent or RV.Full hook ups.Old cabins gone 3 new ones finished and looking great.
They advertise that they are dog friendly but the second your dog barks once they will send someone down and tell you that you’re dogs have been “annoying all day”. I wasn’t here for even an HOUR after they took my money before someone came down and told me that I needed to make my dogs be quiet or leave. The lady even had the nerve to say that MY dog, who I’ve had for over 10 years, was in distress. If you’re coming down for the day, directly next to this god awful place is free and you are able to drive onto the beach. Galveston is also a much better option!
Dont bother with this place. Just go to Bryan Beach instead.Make no mistake, this place is NOT pet friendly. The staff, one large, confrontational woman in particular, are rude and even tried to be intimidating to other women who were with me.Apparently, a dog, barking on the beach while playing in the water, is considered a nuisance, and will not be tolerated. We were accused of being a disruption, and that this employee had been enduring the noise all day, though wed been there less than an hour. The employee continued to try to intimidate my wife and sister-in-law, and even told my sister-in-law "Shut up! This isnt your conversation!" and "You dont NEED my name!" when she asked who she was.We spoke to the people next to us. None of them were bothered by my dogs bark. In fact, their kids were enjoying playing with my dogs in the water, so the dogs presence was very much welcomed by everyone except the employees. We packed up and just went down the street to Bryan Beach. Bryan Beach is free and is in MUCH better shape than the county park anyway. The other patrons were friendly, inclusive, and everyone had a fantastic time.
Our beach experience was a lot of fun! Several new features have been added since our last visit here, including a nice playground area for kids and several palapas on the beach. The showers on the boardwalk back from the beach were very convenient for getting off the sand and salt.
Dirty, crowded, horrible. Waters filthy. Full of sharks and flesh eating bacteria. Just awful stay away!
Great place for families parks bathrooms. And a shower to clean off. They have 5 cover Cabana on the beach, first come first serve. They have a gazebo you can rent for family events/party’s. Nice parking area and a walk path to the beach.
Good place for beach access. Overnight RV camping and a few cabins available for rent. Picnic area available with reservation. Several small tiki- covered table areas along the beach, first come, first served.
Great place, would only be better if there were more public restrooms or showers, but really a nice place.
It was very nice and peaceful we enjoyed very much for mothers day weekend 😊
It was a nice quiet beach with absolutely nothing to do but relax.
Nice beach and great amenities. Son was able to run and play without stressing over cars driving on beach. No driving allowed. Loved the playground too.
Great place to relax. Excellent bird observatory. Good facility, well maintained. Bring a picnic and enjoy your day.
I love this beach. Honestly, they charge 5 bucks to use this spot and its worth twice that. If you want to go for just an hour go at 6 and its free but it closes at sundown or 7 pm whichever is later. Well kept and great for family get togethers.
Awesome facility rv pads were perfect pull through no problems. Full easy hookup to water and power and sewer. Perfect backdrop was seeing big ships coming the intercostal waterway. Also was walking distance to beach by using the boardwalk. Fyi bring wagon to carry items to beach saves time. Also was great fishing from the pier and also the jettys are right there. All in all we had a great time with son and his family. Will be back soon oh also shower facilities are excellent. And the staff was great.
Every year my family and I go to Quintana beach county park during summer break. It’s always nice and clean. This beach is less crowded than other beaches so we prefer it. I reserved a pavilion for our group. During high season it’s better to book the pavilion. They have bathrooms and outdoor showers as well. Beach has benches and small cabanas too. Park also has grassy area with playground. Always fun to go to Quintana beach county park.
Not a good experience. The beach was strewn with bark, trees and driftwood, the water was “Brazos River Brown”and we found out later that the bacteria levels were excessively high - and the county didn’t even let you know upon arrival! The only thing that’s good about this beach is the facilities - which had nice pavilions, a restroom and two outdoor, public showers.
This is an amazing beach that does not get enough recognition! During January to March you can find the most amazing shells! We have found tiger eyes, whelks, and many more completely intact shells. A great shelling beach. There is 3 or 4 built in palapas on the beach and a place to rinse the sand off on the boardwalk. Decent restrooms, enormous pavillions to reserve, park office, playground and RV park. Yes the mosquitoes can eat you alive if you come unprepared. My 3 girls and I looked like we were running from bees because the mosquitoes were so bad! But they have a hilarious sign as you enter the park that shows a man being chased by a giant mosquito! 😂 So come prepared in the summer months to cover yourself in Deet or OFF! The mosquitoes didnt really bother us at all near the sand and ocean. This really is a neat beach. Lots of natural photo opportunities with the debris that washes in. I have heard people do night fishing near this area as well. A pier is just to the right of the beach and a Jerry on the left. I have not tried that, we enjoy the shells, wildlife and scenry. 😁
Visited a friend for the day. Really quaint and nice. Right off the beach, The background screams of Dr. Seuss with the factories and massive (I really mean ...massiveships cruising to and fro, while a beautiful bird sanctuary with an excellent tower rises up close by. Theres a jetty dike with waves crashing to fish at, a no vehicle beach to walk on and a vehicle beach for the generators and fishing lights.A GREAT Texas expedition location.
Much less of a crowd than most beaches, historically really well kept, but my only visit in recent years had a bunch of drift wood cluttering the beach. Surprisingly few mosquitos post-pandemic though.
Very good spot for small family reunion. No cars on this beach. There are restrooms and outdoor rinse showers on the raised walkway. There is a playground with grass or head to the beach to pick a spot. Cabanas may be a cost, not sure. Pavilion is for rent also. Check brazoria county parks website for details on other beach property rentals.
We had a last minute change of plans and were desperate for an RV campsite near the beach. A random online article mentioned Quintana. They had availability so I booked it not knowing a thing about the park. We were pleasantly surprised! The park was clean, quiet, and the amenities, while not fancy, were everything we needed and more (shhh…don’t tell our kids there was wi-fi). The beach was “natural” so it meant drift wood, shells, and yes a little more trash, but we still enjoyed ourselves playing in the waves and sand. One of our favorite things was watching the HUGE ships come in and out of the nearby canal. We would definitely recommend this park and would not hesitate to go back again.
Very disappointed... I heard such great things about this beach. We even paid just to be in a better area.. Just to get there and realize we had nowhere to sit because the beach was covered in tree trunks and branches everywhere. Plus trash was so bad.. Very disappointed this time.. The only good thing was the showers and bathrooms.
High levels of bacteria, swimming not recommended as of June 2021. Decent facilities (bathrooms, picnic tables, a handful of tiki huts on the beach). Cant drive on the beach, which is good or bad depending on your opinion. If youre closer to Galveston, choose Galveston.
The RV park is clean and organized. The grass is well kept and the grounds were nice. Although not all the plugs worked and some of the RV necessities were worn out. Plus the picnic tables were old wood and warped (bring a table cloth to avoid splinters). The beach is nice and has first come first serve tiki tables for shade. There is a lot of wood on the beach this time. Don’t know if that’s the norm.
This year they have added more shade structures on the beach- cabanas and benches. Very nice to be able to put towels, etc up off of the sand. Also there is very nice new play structure. They moved the location from the left of the board walk to the grassy area to the right of the boardwalk as you head out to the beach. But, as usual, you need to have mosquito repellent if you venture off the boardwalk into the grass.
Great RV camping! Were here now for memorial day weekend. Some things to consider....1. This is the Gulf Coast. Our beaches arent great, but theyre better than watching Tiger King at home, so get off your high horse, go out and have fun.2. This is a tiny county and their park on the coast. They probably have a tiny budget. Want some place nicer, well plan on spending more than $100 for a three night RV stay with full connections. Dont be Karen who complains to the manager. That being said, its a nice park with beach access. The mosquitoes havent been bad for us, though there are signs letting you know they can be an issue. Our recommendation is to bring your own shade, because theres none to be found, your antibug spray, and fire ant poison. We had a huge fire ant colony between our RV and picnic table and they ate us up.
Excellent campground with full hookups and a friendly staff. In addition to the easily accessible beach, the park has several playgrounds, which was a huge perk. Will definitely come here when looking for a weekend beach getaway.
The beach is nice and not crowded at all! The camping part has full hookups but the sites are on top of eachother unless you have a small camper, you have more choices with more space. We stay here because close to family in Lake Jackson when were visiting.
Not very crowded which is a plus. Water is the same as Galveston. What I LOVED is that we got to see dolphins jumping out of the water. It was so exciting! But it was so fast that we didnt get a chance to take video or pics. Definitely going back for that.
Pretty cool place. I did not camp there, but I delivered our RV so someone could. It seems well laid out and clean. Staff was friendly amd courteous! This site had 30 amp electric, water and sewage.
We have been using Bryan Beach for years. Our camping trip from a few weeks ago was canceled in Galveston due to the recent freeze. We booked to get away this weekend here and what a gem! I am reluctant to recommend it, selfishly, because I dont want to share. Beautiful beach, great campsites, clean and comfortable. I am so glad we arent too far and cant wait to get back!
We paid $16 a night to stay here for just over a month. Hard to beat that price for a campground with full hookups along the Gulf Coast. Although you cannot see the beach from the campground due to the landscape, even the sites furthest from the shore are only a seven minute walk to the beach. The campground has two main sections. One section has two short circular loops with short back-in sites (like spokes on the outside of a wheel), the other section has a mix of pull-throughs and back-ins. Our site was a pull-through site. The pull-through sites are close to each other, much like you would find at a private campground, but we didn’t feel it was tight. Each site is pretty level and has an asphalt pad. The roads and asphalt pads are old but decent. Between the two sections is a wooden bathhouse with bathrooms, shower stalls, and a small laundry room. There is a small playground near the circular loops and a larger one near the office and park buildings closer to the beach. There are three elevated wooden walkways that pass over the vegetation-thick dunes connecting the campground to the beach. With the exception of several elevated trash cans and a few benches and shaded tables, the beach is undeveloped. Being there in the off-season, it was never busy, and on many occasions we had it pretty much to ourselves. Dogs are allowed on the beach so long as they are on-leash. On the eastern side of the beach is a long rocky jetty frequented by fishermen. The jetty marks the western side of a deep channel used by huge ocean-traversing cargo ships to reach port. Every few days, ships transporting natural gas would use the channel to dock a few blocks behind the campground, where they would spend a few days unloading before leaving again. While it was fascinating to watch these ships come in, they would run their boilers for power constantly, creating noise on par with the road noise you typically experience with campgrounds near highways, so if road noise bothers you that could be an issue. The port also occasionally makes announcements through their loudspeakers and runs tests of their alarm systems. This is a nice park for bird watchers: in addition to being next to the Gulf of Mexico, the campground is just a few block from a bird sanctuary. During our stay we saw ducks, pelicans, black vultures, white cranes, and a few great blue herons. There are signs warning about snakes in certain areas of the park, but we never saw any (they may be more of an issue in warmer months). Mosquitoes are also prevalent but again weren’t too bad because it was still winter. There are plenty of wide-open grassy areas to walk dogs, though some areas can be squishy after a good rain.In terms of cell service, the best speeds I got on my Verizon Jetpack with MIMO antenna during our stay were between 30 to 50Mbps down and 15Mbps up, and those speeds were pretty consistent, resulting in nearly flawless video streaming. The one speed test I performed on my AT&T phone showed 50Mbps down and 5Mbps up. The campground offered WiFi but we never tried it.Freeport is the closest town with any amenities; their main supermarket is about a 13 minute drive from the campground. But if you need to do any serious shopping, you’ll want to make the 30-minute drive to the town of Lake Jackson, which is where we usually went to restock on both groceries and propane.Unfortunately, we had to cut our stay short: the historic winter storm forced the campground to shut off the water, and the area was without power for several days. Campground staff did their best to handle the situation, but we decided it would be best to relocate. We feel like we have unfinished business with this campground - and we did enjoy our time there - so we hope to be able to come back.
My favorite place to relax. Sun surf and fishing. The park is always clean and well spaced & if you need the showers, always hot water. Beach access is a nature walk with natural landscape at its best and the jetty is walkable to throw in some poles or go crabbing. Stayed in the cabins as an alternative and loved the clean , spacious cabin. You have to bring all your bed covers but the necessities are there. Micro, toaster etc. A fantastic family park.
Love this RV park! My favorite part was seeing the huge ships/barges floating by all day and night. Was truly a unique experience. Clean bathrooms, nice private beach, and friendly people. Highly recommend and will definitely go again. Thanks Patty for being so accommodating to the TXWingnuts crowd!
Update: The manager Patty personally contacted me and we also spoke in person to get it resolved. I really appreciate her getting involved and listening to both sides of the issue and hope she handles the situation accordingly to prevent this from happening in the future. We have been camping Quintana Beach Park for years and up until last night we have loved every moment of it. It is Labor Day weekend and its very packed so we have our brother over for dinner and many people were parked on side of road in grass so we told him we guess it was ok. The hosts husband comes and let’s us know we needed to move car and we complied immediately and apologized. He was very nice but after we moved the car the wife comes up on a golf cart telling us it’s time for our guest to leave and we explained they will be gone by 10pm and at this time it’s 9:25. She tells my husband they need to leave within the next 15 minutes and again he tells her they will be out of the park by 10. She leaves and comes around to the other side of the RV and tells us we need to turn the music down which wasn’t loud because we could clearly hear the conversations coming from the trailer across from us. Mind you it was the same volume as it was 30 seconds ago when she was there but I guess she was upset we were going by the park rules and not hers so she decided to harass us a little more. There were many guest who were having larger gatherings and there was 4 of us inside the RV until they came by to tell us to move car so not sure what the issue was with us. Again I love this park and everything about except for the way this park host treated us last night. I won’t be back while she is hosting.
We had gone here quite a few times but this was the first time we had gone since the pandemic started. It was not crowded at all and it was fairly clean. Everything was nice and the water was warm. Quintana is one of my favorite Texas beaches. Will come again later.
$5 to park for the day (cash/check onlybut the expansive beach is quiet and clean. It’s a great alternative to the crowded Surfside beaches on the other side of the levy. Beach-side showers and modern, clean restroom facilities on site. Children’s playground and grills & picnic areas available off the beach.
Last minute idea to come visit the RV park. Were glad we did! Campsites were nice and all had electric and water hook-up. There is a bath house with laundry. Theres a code they give you when you check in for the bathrooms. Nice to see since its only for those who paid to be there. Beach access with some tiki style shade spots on the beach with trash cans. We will definitely make this a regular place to visit.
Good park with reasonable prices. The beach is a short walk from the campground. The beach is pretty clean, and was very quiet when we were there. Just note that even though glass bottles are not allowed on the beach, we still encountered some pretty big chunks of glass while walking. Unfortunately, the best sunset views are blocked by the refinery. We didnt find any restaurants or shops within walking distance. Also note that the office is closed Mondays, but they have park hosts onsite who can help you with a lot including helping you get settled if you arrive (with a reservationafter hours. Overall a decent park.
Nice RV park, water quality not so great. The park itself was well maintained and the staff are doing an awesome job considering the low prices to stay here. The problem with the water is not really a knock on the park but it has to be mentioned, just bring a good water purifier and you should be fine. There is also an industrial complex across the street but it didnt really bother us. Mentioning it in case some folks have an issue. Otherwise, the park was quiet and the folks were friendly.
Nice quiet RV park with full hookups; also have cabins with ocean views. Pleasant 5 minute walk to beach (on a boardwalk inside the park). Great staff and they take really good care of the grounds. Park has activities on the weekends. Make sure to ask about the monarch butterflies!! We love staying here!!!
This place is very well kept. The grounds keepers work very hard to keep it clean and manicured. The rest rooms are clean. The showers are well kept and work. We spent 2 daze here. Serious fun in the sun. The crowd was small which made it more enjoyable on labor day weekend. Awesome!!
This was a great beach to camp. We had a small issue with reservations and then we didnt get the spot we wanted BUT we absolutely will be back. Its a typical Texas beach but its clean and not crowded. The RV camp is very well maintained. There are lots of wildlife and boats to watch. We great time.
