Quest Whangarei in Whangarei
Description
Rooms were okay clean and serviced but elevator was broken over our four day stay making it an issue with bags and stairs
MoreIf you like not being able to sleep until 3am, this is the place for you!Nestled between a live music venue on one side and a club just down the road, Quest offers you the best in free loud music featuring droning monotonous bass that echoes around the spacious high ceilings of your room.Enjoy the crystal clear screams and conversations of every drunk pedestrian on the footpath outside, and Whangareis best selection of automotive exhausts driving past your adequately appointed and stunningly non-soundproofed room. While you are lying in your rock hard King size bed waiting to be carried off into the blissful silence of sleep, why not take time to worry about your vehicle; which you have had to park on the street out front, because someone thought it was a good idea to build a hotel in the middle of a city and not have enough parking for every room. You can also watch a wide selection of free movies to try and cover the sounds from outside, but will miss the dialogue unless you have you have turned it up loud enough that the person in the next room can enjoy it too.* accommodation was booked for me for work, I was told there was parking for me.* Im sure that Sunday - Thursday this would be an adequate place to stay, but on a Friday night it was ridiculous.I would avoid staying at Quest in Whangarei if you value your quiet time and ability to function clearly on 4 hours sleep for your job the next morning.
MorePrepaid 3 days parking a week prior to arrival.Arrived and told I had street parking only on 1st night.Went out for the day and arrived back at 3pm and service on room had not been done had to call twice for cleaners so we could have clean towelsWent out for dinner arrived home at11pm within 5 minutes had a knock on the door asking if we were having a party 😳and threatened to call security yet all you can hear is the noise coming from the Surrey below and the bitter factoryHotel is full of homeless rooms paid by the government whilst the tourist like myself are treated like 3rd class citizens . For a 46 year old mother travelling with a husband and child to receive a knock on the door is beyond a joke whilst outside our window a night club playing loud music is not disruptive .Hotel is not worth the price you pay . As a seasoned traveller I would call this a hostel and not a hotel . Travelled all over the world this would be a 2 star hotel
MoreWe enjoyed the stay, clean, central, comfy room and great bathroom. Can be a bit noisy at night, but was fine for us. Can recommend!
MoreStunning room in the centre of Whangarei. Fantastic place to stay
Bed/room was great but carpark below is terrible, very competent driver needed.
Very bad, the staff working there gave a very bad attitude and very not recommend!
MoreGood size room, good location
Great facilities, modern and tidy. Central location. Only issue was reception was closed at 8am when we tried to check out.
MoreRoom quiet chilly but have adjusted the thermostat also no light in bathroom.
Very spaciour & well appointed apartment. Very convenient location close to CBD for walking to restaurants etc.
MoreLockdown happened. My home was being rebuilt, a charity group Rep organized a govt subsidy to help with rent. 4 months later Im still at the Quest. Managers a friendly easy going guy, very helpful. Any guest showing tendencies towards violence is talked to calmly but told theyll have to leave if they cant tone their altitude/temper down quickly. There are no more warnings. Basically guests are expected to treat all people, however involved with the Quest politely and respectfully. Staff treat guests the same way and theyre all friendly, easy to get on with people. Housekeeping crew is great fun. Round the clock security (2 people from an outside firmnot in your face but seem to be on the ball. Most of them anyway. Being resident in a motel in the middle of a city CBD would be magic if only the city wasnt this one. Dont stay here to spend a day or two shopping unless you enjoy shopping for Sushi. I kid you not, a very small Farmers store is attached to this building and a very good second hand bookshop called the Piggery is less than a kilometers walk along the main street. Theres very little else of interest for shopping feinds.Sushi every direction you turn with shoe shops selling higher end desirable footwear at top dollar to a population with very little disposable income, same with perhaps 4or 5 womens clothing stores/boutique cum upmarket opshop. The Quest is a nice enough place to break a trip at but there isnt anything worth doing or seeing handy. Probably anyone wanting to see northland would find this a convenient place to stop and plan your moves after a long drive from the South. We have so much beautiful coastline in Northland, plus all the amazing forest reserve land as you travel from a lovely beach to a breathtaking bit of coastline then on to a stunning harbour therell be bush well worth checking out. Make a point of heading way of the main roads and into the rural areas, see affluent dairying land first but the more remote you get the less developed or more poorly maintained the land gets. A lot of people I suspect, will have trouble believing theyre still in the same country they were in a couple of days ago. Northland,in places, like the east cape and the west coast of the South island is youll find people living in pretty primitive dwellings, living a hand to mouth existence in a way thats little different to life in the 1930s. Oh except now nobody uses their initiative to keep the kids occupied, THE INTERNET gets practically everywhere.
MoreGreat location and very comfortable. Gail at reception was super helpful.
Checked out today had stayed at the quest motel since august sad to have left but took away a beautiful experience and made some friends there with the staff and the boss Matt thank you so much for having me and Lita at your motel was amazing, I give you 6stars thank yous all lita and hilda
MoreGreat location. Welcoming staff.Right in the central city. Will be tricky finding parking. It is a drive around the block. If lost ask the friendly staff at the reception. They will explain clearly how to get to the parking clearly.
MoreStay was pretty average - but special thanks to Lisa (housekeepingwho was super friendly and had helpful tips on Whangarei sightseeing!
MoreNice, basic accommodation with kitchenette and easy access to everything the city offers. Only negative is the lack of soundproofing.
MoreI cant believe how quiet it is here! Lovely check in & out. I got confused about where to park so drove around the block a couple of times. A bit of construction work going on outside but overall very pleasant!
MoreMatthew the reception/concierge guy is excellent. Really helpful and friendly. Great restaurant recommendation and really takes the time to be interested enough to care and make you welcome.clean room and all you need for a short business trip.great job Matthew.
MoreThe two-bedroom apartment is spacious and provides everything you need, well-stocked kitchen utensils/crockery. Has a washing machine/dryer and dishwasher, and a lush bath in the 2nd bathroom. The studio is also a well-equipped option. The staff here at Quest Whangarei have been amazing and professional, from the concierge desk, security through to housekeeping. I had to stay in isolation until my covid test results came back and they were all so kind and understanding. I highly recommend staying at Quest Whangarei if you get the chance.
MoreThis is an awesome place small comfortable genuine people that run it caring and have got the bosses back and you dont get that in many place lots off empathy for Thier clientele good people to work along side Id give Matt genuinely cares about what hes doing my Apinion he give 💯 plus to his workers and clientele putty there werent more like him 8/9/10 stars if I could
MorePerfect spot to visit town and the wharf area. Spacious apartment and very clean. Friendly service and would def visit again
MoreGreat hotel and location. very center of downtown. Really clean and cozy. Tv is way too small to watch!! Great shower and bathroom. if the price is lower, the star would be even higher. customer service is great. I can not believe that it didnt support free car parking though.
MoreRoom was huge and quite comfortable. The only down was the cold shower and outside partying all night! Would however, return with those things being fixed 😉
MoreRoom was a good size, was very clean, and in very tidy condition. Bathroom including shower were great. Air conditioning was very useful, and made the room a true refuge from the outside world. The room was pretty good in terms of noise from the outside world and other guests. I didnt pay for parking, you can park on the street with minimal cost.Additional: returned a year later for an overnight stay, wasnt disappointed.
MoreAn average place to stay. Stark. Nothing flash. Toilet door needed planing to shut properly. Instructions for the Wi-Fi didn’t work - 20 minutes wasted trying different devices and combinations, then called reception to find out it was completely different, both in process and password!?Good location I suppose? Not exactly spoiled for choice in Whangarei.....
MoreLoved it, My experience was enjoyable and rexlax. The rooms were fantastic and very clean. The house keepers where kind and helpful and found Lisa on level 2 to be very polite and helpful to make my stay enjoyable. She all so knew the area of Whangarei well which help me a lot.Would recommend that you stay at the Quest Whangarei.
MoreI booked a King room. It should have had a king-size bed but instead was two singles pushed together giving a nice peak in the centre. I woke up with a fairly sore back from the sleep.Other than that the hotel was great, service was great and the room presentation was great. Parking was a little tight.
MoreWonderful place to stay. Rooms are clean, well equipped, and spacious. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The location is in the heart of the city with so much in walking distance.
MoreGreat accommodation right in the heart of Whangarei. Staff are always really friendly and helpful. If had a gym or pool for my business trips it would get 5 stars easy!
MoreCar parking is painful, offside around the corner. Tv in bedroom had no volume. No outlook from room. TV in lounge is about 20 cm from ceiling try and watch that. No near by grocer. Breakfast cafe on site not open to 7.30. Went to check out and reception was not manned had to wait 15 mins. Very poor wont stay again. Positive is room is clean
MoreOn an extended trip or just up in Whangarei for a night? I believe youd also be completely satisfied for either occasion as these are surely the most elegant hotel studio apartments you can find in the area. Modern decor from the bathroom to the kitchen area which definitely isnt dated like other stays. Ill admit, finding the front entrance as well as the parking garage around back can be a bit tricky on your first visit like it was for us. However, the friendly owner (whos also managing reception right nowwill be there to help every step of the way. Our window view was pretty nice too.
MoreI had to spend almost 2 months in Whangerai for a project and stayed in the Quest. The rooms are spacious and clean with all the amenities like washing machines and dryers, heat pumps, fridges, etc. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I can highly recommend it.
MoreGreat customer service. Beautifully decorated spacious one bedroom apartment. Clean and comfortable. Wasnt noisy despite the location. You do have to pay extra for parking and internet which adds up. I only stayed for one night so didnt need either but would have been a bit on the expensive side if I had to park the car or pay for the internet. Helps that you have ensuite laundry and kitchen.
