Queens Way Soul Cafe in Hampton

First time going food was okay but they messed up my order but other than tht it was ok 👍

I called at 7:15 and my food was ready at 8:15. It sat on the counter for 10 minutes bc he didn’t know the order belonged to me.Second FOOD WAS NASTY!!!! the worst soul food I’ve ever had. The Mac and cheese was noodles and very little sprinkle of cheese. Definitely came from a box. The collard greens were dry and unseasoned. The baked chicken was dry as hell. Might as well had been turkey.Yams were the only thing I ate.NEVER AGAIN

Food music and services fantastic

1st they need to update their website to show the new locations address. 2. The people at the register all seem to hate their job and are not friendly warm or welcoming. 3rd the food was way better when they were located in Hampton. This is my 3rd time wasting them since they have been at the new location and everything is way too salty to the point where you can’t eat it. It tastes like I’m pouring salt directly in my mouth. The cabbage this time tasted just like salt and it was soo mushy . When they were located in Hampton the food was the best soul food in the Hampton roads area and I was hoping that it would still be the same but it is not and that is truly disappointing.

I was very disappointed with our first experience here. I really couldnt believe the lack of seasoning used in their fried chicken and pork chops. The Mac and cheese was salty and overbaked. The pig feet looked awful... couldnt even bring myself to taste them. You can tell that the owner isnt doing this for her love of what she does. Noticed this a lot since Ive been in this area.

This establishment is only hard to find because they havent updated their name online to "MealOne" and youll drive past it if not paying attention.Overall, the staff were extremely attentive and friendly, the menu selection was adequate and food very tasteful & well presented but portions were smaller than expected, especially for the cost, however, delicious nonetheless.Side note is their co-owned & co-located cigar lounge with good selection, bar, numerous TVs, and indoor & outdoor seating...a definite plus for cigar lovers.Ill more than likely revisit this establishment whenever Im in the area!

The new name is MealOne. Its nice! The food is delicious! The setup is great with a restaurant on one side and a cigar lounge on the other.

This place use to be located off big Bethel in Hampton. Was good staff and great food. But, they have moved off Jefferson Ave. The food took over an 1hr to get. Ordered cheeseburger and fried chicken. They most had to go out back and catch the chicken and kill the cow for it to take that long. And, the food was nasty took 1 bite and that was it. Very disappointed! Never again!

I drove two hours just to eat salty fish. Manager stated that its the batter and her cook is not adding nothing else. Not sure what happen to this food after the place relocated. One thing I do know is that Ill never return.

The food was so delicious.The owner was also very personable and made my sister and I feel welcomed. I enjoyed everything.

Very disappointed i paid for the $30.99 Queensway seafood platter. The shrimp were small and the fish were strips. Instead of getting 3 pieces, you get a total on 1 fish. Defiantly not worth $30. Please do not buy this platter.

Man! The food is Amazing! Full of flavor and the portions are more than enough to get nice and full. I ordered the crab mac with fried whiting and seared shrimp. I would highly recommend this place, hope to visit in person soon, right now Im doing door dash😁

The drinks here are stronger than most bars and price is just right. The food is great and you leave full and satisfied. Ask yourself were can you get a drink and turkey wings at 1am? Exactly so go!

Matt and I dined in for lunch. I ordered fried chicken. Our server/manager Tracey explained to me that it is made to order and it will be about 30 minutes. I appreciate her letting me know that itll take that long where as some other restaurant (sthey dont inform you with that kind of information. The environment was nice. Great music playing to pass time while we wait on our food. Owner Roger came and checked on us a few times. Great place with great people 😀

Queens Way Cafe is horrible we arrived at 4:19 and did not receive our food until 45 minutes later. Upon arrival every table in the restaurant had not been bused for the exception of one and it needed to be cleaned. We gave the waitress our drink order of tea after 15 minutes she returned with a small glass of water. I ask what happened to the tea she left and came back 10 minutes later. The establishment has the worst customer service ever and the food was marginally ok. Truly I will not be returning.

I just left and no exaggeration, we waited from 330 pm until 4:45 for two plates of food and a veggie plate. My daughter and I waited an additional 30 minutes for 1 side of mac and chesse and yams, the only items we ordered. The yams tasted like mashed sweet potatoes from the can with syrup added. The manager was nice enough and took it off but this is a bigger problem that needs to be fixed. I will not be returning.

Ordered takeout (smothered pork chops with greens and rice&gravyand whiting with yams and greens. Got home and realized the order was wrong ( left out my ricebut let it slide because the food was great. the gravy on the pork chops was very well seasoned and savory. whiting was a little overcooked but overall a great meal

There was a new waitress, so she was still learning her job and trying. The other waitstaff helped her out when they could... we did have 6 people in our party, but she needed to be more focused.Now, lets get to the meat of the food. I ordered Turkey legs, greens, mac-n-cheese, sweet potatoes and hushpuppies. The greens and mac was way over salted, so much so, that I was unable to finish them. Drinks come to the table first and several items listed on the menu were unavailable...Such as hot tea; sweet potato pie, ect. Also we waited for about 15 minutes for a cranberry juice. I ate there yesterday and the service was approximately 20% better so it wouldve gotten 3 stars.

I usually go Monday nights and always have a good time. I went on a Thursday with a friend, during happy hour. Well, needless to say, my friend and I both got wine and a couple of other ppl bought me wine. All of them paid $4/glass while I was charged $6/glass. I love Queens Way and never had a bad experience, but this one, I must say was a big disappointment. I may come back, I may not. If I do and I see the young lady that served me at the bar, Ill leave and try another day. I wouldve given 5 stars, but this experience was very, very, very disappointing.

Food was dang good. Cant complain. Food came out quick. Told the waitress that I had asked for bread instead of hush puppies. She grabbed a napkin and asked me to place the hush puppies on the napkin and took them back and brought out the bread. Lol. You can tell that she was new or something. Otherwise that. Great place. Great environment.

Great place for good ole soul food. Friendly waitresses. Great place to have birthday celebrations, get togethers, after church dinner. On Friday and Saturday from 9:30 pm - 2 am DJ Rick Geez is their spinning on the ones and twos!!

Queens Way provided excellent service and super great food for our family reunion. The staff met us at the door and everything was met upon request. Special thanks to the 2 attending server crew women who did a wonderful job if you want the taste of great home cooked food this is the place. My wife and I will return for our own dinner because of the service.

Down home atmosphere. Waitress was very good! Bbq too spicy gizzards was fried to hard couldnt eat them collards had a bottle of vinegar just in mine alone candied yams was ok

Huge and delicious chicken. If you do want fried chicken for lunch i suggest calling ahead, big chicken doesnt cook fast. chops wonderful as well. People are great here.

Although usually good. The wait for the food, drinks and the bill was slow boat to China. Arrived 6:30p just now leaving. Everyone there looked angry and probably would have complained if they werent so weak from hunger. Its painfully obvious that wait staff isnt sufficiently trained to wait on multiple tables. As per usual, the food was wonderous.

This is arguably the best place for soulfood in the entire Hampton Roads area. Im originally from Mississippi so i know what soulfood is and this place Nailed IT!! Everything they sell is good. Ive tried some of everything. Only thing that Ill say is that at night this place turns into a bit of a club scene. In the picture, I had fried catfish, cheese fries and cabbages (under the aluminum foil).

As a first time customer, Id like to say that the food was good. But there were two employees that were not professional AT ALL. And I wish I was a mystery shopper to truly rate their performance. It was just an unpleasant visit. Will I return? No.

The food was amazing! Our waitress was alright but it took so long for everything.... 20 minutes after entering for our orders to be taken, 45 minutes after ordering for our food... And our to go order was given away so it had to be recooked.

My last experience with Queen St Soul Cafe was unlike the previous times I have dine there. The service as always was great. However the food was horrible extremely salty and the food presentation did not look fresh at all. Our meal look liked it was warmed over and tasted that way. We were able to salvage the mac and cheese but the remainder of our meals was a bust. Will go back and give another try maybe it was just a bad day for Soul Cafe.

Food is excellent but the service suck. My meal came out before my meal. It took the waitress over ten minutes just to give to go trey. My night was going okay till I went there

It was fun they had a paint and sip there by Harleys Event planner! It was nice had a good time the food was good I shrimp and Fries nice and hot and Good $6.00 and wine was $4.00 good price!

Will never go there again. Arrived at about 6:30, didnt get our dinner until close to 9, some after that. Orders were wrong and had to ask why, to be told they ran out of what was ordered. The service was so slow half of us were done eating before the rest even got there meal and had to take it to go. The drinks were warm, because it was served without ice. And the food so salty just threw it away. $288 for the worst experience ever.

This was my first and only time coming here. We had a party of 15 and everyone in our party had finished their food, and it took my brother and his friend an hour to get their food. My husbands chicken gizzards were cooked so hard he couldnt eat them.

Food and service was good. I would have liked for the pork chops to have more seasoning but overall good. I gave three stars because the side portion size was small and I felt the meal all together was overpriced. Entree+2 sides +drink will run you around $16-$20

I came here for the 1st time a few months ago, and it instantly became one of my favorite places to eat. The food is amazing, and Ive never been disappointed, and always satisfied! My #1 Go To spot for a savory, soulful seasoned grilled chicken breast on top of a fresh, colorful salad and a delectable sweet potato pie! This place hits the spot everytime! I encourage people to check it out!

The place was better than anticipated. I was in the area for the day and decided to go there. I made a great decision. The crab cakes were amazing and so was everything else.

Good stop to meet up after a long day at the job, food is good, moderately priced, drinks are free pour, bar tenders really nice (ask for Sasha). Karaoke is a good time, real talent in this house, got a get here on a Thursday evening! Sometimes service can be a little slow, depending on the crowd. All in all, a nice time everytime Ive been here.

My friend and I came in for dinner before heading to a concert. We ended up coming around 5ish. It wasn’t crowded, just had people coming in for the bar. We were greeted and was told we can sit anywhere.The menu has different options. I ended up getting the catfish with mac & yams. When caught me off guard when the plates came out is that sides weren’t “filled”. Normally when you go to a restaurant, the mac or whatever you have over flows the bowl. The sides were also “cold”. I don’t like to complain about food, so I didn’t send it back. My catfish was hot though. The waitress also wasn’t around when needed.Maybe i’ll give this place another try one day.

I’m from New York and I’ve been living in Hampton VA for 4 months now. I googled best food restaurants in Hampton and Queens Way Soul Cafe came up. I ordered whitening fish sweet candies yams and collard greens. I must say that I was not disappointed. It was outstanding. I definitely recommend coming here.

The cabbage and macaroni is good but all the meat is so salty. I had some hot wings and couldnt eat but two because of the salt giving me a headache .The staff was very friendly and welcoming. I will not order the hot wings anymore. I will try something else.

Had my birthday dinner here and the food is always good. I had the grilled chicken breast smothered with green peppers alongside sweet potatoes and collard greens. Yummy yummy. The waitress always accomdating. Well done !

Hands down some of the best soul food in Hampton Roads. I have been here a few times over the last year...and the food has consistently been amazing. The atmosphere is a chill spot with a great bartender (dont know her name but she was awesome!Service was just okay overall but I credit that to the wait staff just being kinda young. Sherry, our waitress, was very friendly though. Of course, as with every business, there is definitely room for improvement.

Ive come here multiple times and Ive never really had a complaint with the food. The fried chicken and wings arent heavily seasoned and I prefer them a bit more seasoned and the macaroni & cheese is more salty than cheesy on some days. The turkey wings are well seasoned and the fried fish (tilapia & whitingis always good too. The problem is the wait. Every time Ive come, food takes about 30 minutes to arrive and you dont get any bread or anything to chew on while you wait. I always see people walk in to pick up orders and I will probably do that next time.

If you are looking for that soul touching food like mom or grandma once made then this is the place. Oh its not always whats on the outside that counts. Mid day/lunch time is the best time hint hint

I am completely disgusted at the experience that I had there. We went there for a friends going away party. First off, the waitress did not come to our table until about 30 minutes after we had sat down. Please keep in mind that place was not packed at all. I had to go up to the bar and order my drink because we had no waitress. However I saw the two waitresses standing in the corner and one of them as they have you handled that table and the girl starts to laugh. Moving forward, it took forever for all of our stuff to come. Drink took forever. Food took forever. Sometimes the waitress would not even bring us the right stuff or she just flat-out forgot about us. After waiting for so long, we had to pay the 18% gratuity because our party was over 6 people. However when we did pay, she overcharged us for certain things that were ordered. Then when she gave us our change, she did not bring back all of our change. She kept the coins. It was really a horrible experience. I dont understand how this waitress did not know what customer service was. This is a reflection on this business and I really hope that the manager sees this post. I will never again go to that business. And I will make sure that I let everyone else know how horrible the food and the service was.

My husband and I arrived about 8 pm. We waited 45 minutes at the bar and nobody said a word to us finally my husband went and found a waitress and put in our order, she said it would be 20 minutes. After waiting another 30 minutes or food still hadnt came out yet we had to find another waitress (the bartender wouldnt even look at usto take our drink order. We liked or drinks and continued to wait on our food. We waited another 45 minutes and found the waitress to ask about our food because I was getting upset we had been in there almost 2 entire hours! The waitress laughed and said she forgot about our order and that it had been finished for 20 minutes! We took our food back to our place and started eating the mac&cheese lacked flavor and had way to much salt and the potatoe salad was warm with no flavor as well! The chicken wings ware average at best they where very small with only about 3 bits of chicken! We will not be going back to this place and you should definitely save your money and skip it!
