Queenies Dumplings Queenstown - Dumpling restaurant in Queenstown, New Zealand
Great dumplings, so much that I returned two days in a row and once a month later on my short stop offs through Queenstown.
Good dumplings but not the best. A bit pricey too.
Dumplings tasted like they were fabric-produced - not fresh and not much flavour. The soup had the consistency of raw egg whites - I really couldnt get it down, it was awful. Not worth the mony, go and get a ferg burger instead
Very tasty dumplings and noodles
Terrible pastry that tasted stale and the filling tasted odd. You get a mere 9 dumplings for $17, its just disappointing really :( Dont go here!
Dumpling flavour was okay, 6/10. Pastry was not good, very chewy 2/10. Prices are ridiculous, $17 for 9 pan fried dumplings, I would expect gourmet quality for this price instead very average experience. Service is 5/10, poorly lit room, cheap chairs and tables. Bathroom was clean though. Overall misleading.Edit: Thank you for the response. The dumplings are FAR from perfect. You know what needs to be done to improve. Good luck.
Dumplings were good, same with miso soup. Not spectacular but hit the spot.
We went there for a quick lunch. The dumpling and fried rice are probably pre-cooked, just heated up right before it’s served. Some people may not like it, but for me it was not a big problem. Very reasonable in this highly priced area.
The worst dumplings ever!!! Not even sure if they make them fresh being a dumpling only place as we saw them taking the dumplings out frozen and defrosting them. The dumplings were half cooked, the outside had parts that were still raw. Wasnt pleasant at all. If youre looking for good dumplings try Hawker and Roll. They make fresh and delicious dumplings there at hawker and roll.
Wow, great amd taste Dumplings we return back after 4yrs the dumplings size has gone smaller and not very fresh. Wonder what happened
$14 for 9 dumplings. I never paid so much money for dumplings. And unfortunately, they were not my taste at all. Their vegetarian option is really poor. Who puts corn into dumplings :(
If you want expensive and bad dumplings that take fifteen minutes to be served - this is the spot. This cost 17 dollars - was definitely the biggest waste of money I spent during my time in Queenstown. Most mediocre dumplings of my life. Just go to the other dumplings spots in town. Much better price, quality and service. What a dissapointment. To the owners reply:We were definitely charged 17 dollars as per the menu and they were definitely not made then and there, but simply reheated. Its not necessarily about our budget, but the quality we received for what we paid for - hopefully you can understand this. Perhaps you could consider your average of 3 stars a bit more seriously to improve your product and service. Thank you for taking my comments sincerely.
Strongly recommend this place to you!If you are looking for a nice cuppa of delicious hot chicken soup - thats the place to go! And OMG 😍 these dumplings (pork, chicken, beef, lamb and even vegetariaaan!- you can get a combo with soup at a very good price! 👌
I personally know a few people working at Queenies. They are all very nice people providing quality service. However, as a vegetarian, 1 vegetarian option is probably not enough. This can be improved to attract me and I believe the not small vegetarian society in Queenstown to visit more often.
Good dumplings although very expensive. Terrible noodle soup, I would not recommend a visit here
Great little place, only went once but they give what you expect, tasty dumplings, good prices and allow a wide range to chose from, even ordering a mix of all the flavours!
Expensive and not the best tasting dumplings Ive had...wouldnt return. Go to the other dumpling place in town. Cheaper and better tasting
Really nice hot dumplings in winter
Dumplings are way better than their noodles.
The dumplings are ok, but surprisingly expensive. Sadly one of the only dumpling places in Queenstown..
I may be bias, but this dumpling place does not live up to Melbourne standard. Taste (Nothing SpecialPrice, about $8.00 more expensive.
Very tasty dumplings for reasonable prices compare to other restaurants in city center. Quick service, friendly staff and good location. No toilets in this place. Good value for your money.
Such good dumplings!!!! Made fresh right there. Make sure you try the pepper paste
Tasty Chinese cuisine, especially in arrow town!
Great dumplings , its a small place ,not too many tables , staff are friendly. Came back a few times with my son,we were very happy each time.
Pricey. Wife and kids wanted to try some Chinese food for a change. I didnt order any (got a codfather from Fergburgerbut tried wifes wonton noodle soup, it was like my hometown flavour instead of Cantonese, surprise surprise. The soup tasted like it was separately prepared (using seaweed and power), lots of flavor enhancers; prawn dumplings were above average. Guess what they use for veges? Baby spinach leaves, OMG.We met the western guy served us later at their Arrowtown branch lol
If you like dumplings go here! They are some of he best dumplings I ever had!Staff are friendly, and the dumplings are deeeeelicious!!! Slightly pricy, but worth it.
So this place is a bit of a gem, actually. Its not much to look at, and I saw a few people speaking English with foreign accents that struggled to make themselves understood, BUT, if you get past all that, their dumplings really are, truly delicious. The soups didnt have much flavour, so if I went back, Id stick to 60 dumplings instead!
Frickin delicious dumplings! No need to go for the wonton soup like we did. Dumplings all the way!
Wow! Did not expect this. Dumplinks are good but son cried too much in the restaurant. He didnt like it. I dont know if I would go back but I live in another Country so I dont know. Keep the music going becaise thats cool for everyone
Good dumplings, tasty, definitely try with the peanut chilli sauce on the table...
I come here after a long day of skiing. Very good. Warm dining room and friendly staff. Get a loyalty card. Get half price and free dumplings
We ordered pan fried dumplings. Fillings inside are tasty and are fragrant .
Authentic dumplingsI tried the pork & prawn dumplings and chicken & corn soup for dinner. They were both very good - although the dumplings were a little on the bland side and could have done with some more prawn. Great that there was black vinegar and chilli oil available for you to make an authentic dipping sauce.
Quaint dumpling shop. Had the pork and prawn wonton noodle soup - was lovely! Subtle flavours, nice noodles. Nothing too extravangant - ideal if youre after a quick meal thats not too fancy.
Good selection of dumplings, noodles and a handful of steamed buns. As per most dumpling shops, dumplings were pre-made but were cooked (steamed or pan friedto order. Some delays waiting for the order to be delivered, but it was the Christmas vacation period and as such, busy. No complaints on the flavours of the dumplings.
The dumplings are worst I have ever tasted. And they were reheated. The wrap was thick and dry unfortunately
authentic cabbage & pork dumplings with right texture. They offer steamed or fried dumplings and noodles as well.
Bit pricey TBH (hence 4 stars instead of 5), but dumplings and soup were superb. Great lunchtime filler with excellent friendly service.
Was craving some Asian food after eating 14 burgers in 5 days. Figured Id pay a premium being in a tourist town. Decided to test and learn by making small purchase of steamed dumplings (didnt want to pay $3.50 more for frying said dumplings). The good thing is that the food comes out within 2 mins of ordering (as it is already pre cooked and warmed in the steamer), unfortunately this is offset by any flavour and being filled up. Decided to get hot and spicy chicken a few shops further down.
Was there last week when we do trip in Queenstown. Customer service is suck. The lady servering us was really rude and inpatient. The dumpling is so so nothing much special. I think people go there because there not much other options for dumpling shop.
1.5 year old inhaled both dumplings and beef noodle soup - I count this as a win!! (Both were delicious!)
We really enjoyed the dumplings here. Got a seat right by the front of the shop and got to watch people walk by.
Loveeee the vegetarian dumplings! They have a lot of different options as well. The staff were really friendly and let us watch them prepare the food. Also I left my jumper there and they held onto it for ab 2 weeks until my friend went back to get it!
food was so-so,but if looking for some Asian food,I think dumpings will be better to eat.
Didnt even get our order right. They gave us one order short of dumplings and they arent particularly tasty either :(
Menu is simple but tasty.
Great value for money. The dumplings are tasty but the noodles are too soft, too similar to instant noodles. Give us the egg noodles!
As far as dumpling houses go, this one isnt worth mentioning. Ive traveled far and wide and this dumpling house has a lot to learn. A very limited selection of dumplings. Only pork and shrimp! what happened to Pork and Chives, or Pork and Cabbage, these two are almost a necessity in any dumpling house! All dumpling lover know that dumplings are served in sets of 6, 10, or 12, not 9 and at more than $1 per dumpling it makes this house not affordable. The layout and decor is cheap and dirty, plates and crockery not clean, Fried dumplings were a mess, dirty oil, burnt.Basically, in short, hopeless...Why does it suck?- Prices are way too steep, (almost $2 per fried dumpling)- Selection of dumpling flavors is way too limited- Dumplings are not even cooked properly- Presentation and cleanliness is lacking- Lacking correct dumpling soy and saucesGood points- Has the right kind of chili- Thats it.During my dining experience I watched 2 other groups come in, one was obviously native Chinese and looked absolutely appalled by the food they received. they commented on how when they ordered 2 plates of dumplings they expected 2 dozen well made dumplings, they were saddened to find they were sharing 18 small dumplings on tiny plates. The other group that came in complained of the portion size and ended up getting noodle soup to fill the void.
We ordered dumplings and beef noodle. It was the worst ever dumplings Ive ever had in an eatery. 90% of the dumplings burst open! And the noodle was sticky and soft instead of chewy, the soup is made up of too much soy sauce instead of beef soup. Very disappointing meal. If you cook like this, you dont deserve to survive in Queenstown.
