Queen St, Melbourne VIC 3000, Australia, Sunbury
Longtime market selling food, clothing & more in a historic landmark spanning 2 city blocks.
Great Market for all your needs.. definitely Great for fruits and Veggies.. plus a lot of options to eat as well.. a complete under cover area with food stalls.. Plus you get great shopping options like a flea market.. Must visit place in Victoria..
Visited both the Night and Day market on two separate occasions. I preferred the Day market.During the Night visit, the whole place was packed and crowded. Since it only Opened on Wednesday night (seasonal). The food prices at each stalls were quite pricy with average taste. Nothing fanciful. There a silent disco and it should be fun to join if you not shy!As for the Day visit, it of a different feel and you can just buy a cup of coffee and relax yourself. Walking around in a slow pace and buy any food that attracts you. It the experience that counts. There also those different vintage, clothing or souvenir stalls to walk around.Take a look at some of the photos taken during my visits!
Lovely potter around the market. Some superb crafts and traders. Plenty of choice for fruit veg and eggs.
What a fun morning in Melbourne roaming through the isles of Victoria Market. Its like friend I have not seen in a few years. It was good to catch up :). I grabbed breakfast at one of the markets outdoor caffees, did lots if sightseeing and a little shopping to take home. Fun time!
Queen Victoria market Interesting market , fairly large and a lot of stuff to buy . Most are touristy items but there’s also food which is very good, I quite like and recommend the doughnuts. They do close at 3/4pm , so it’s important to go early. Today there weren’t a big crowd , pretty enjoyable walk around but didn’t buy much
If you want to buy fruits, fish, gadgets, souvenirs ect., you should visit this place. Here you can find cheap products and experience beauty of Australian market. Sellers are yelling "bananas only $2" ect. Its so cool 🙂
Fun market! There are so many things to see and we can get fresh food from there to eat on the spot for our meals. Many seats available to sit and eat. The market is very well organised with fruits and vegetables in one section, meat and seafood located in specific locations. The flea market is a must go as it is a place for shopping, although there are many repeats in the types of things sold there. Nevertheless, there is certainly something that you can find worth buying!
Great markets. Very fresh produce amazing delicatessen and the best bratwurst in a bun in town.Had a great car display on the day i went.
Love it here!Such a great morning to be spent browsing all the different areas. It has everything you need from fresh produce to clothing and gifts. The veg and fruit are all fresh and the heart and seafood are consistently good quality. The deli section is my favourite with all sorts of beautiful European treats!Theres a food hall with a really wide selection of different cuisines plus coffee carts and a brilliant donut van!Getting there is straight forward as its well serviced by buses and trams.Recommend getting there early to avoid it getting too crowded but even when its busy its a great atmosphere.
Canadian traveller here! I must say I was blown away by this market that was opened on a weekday with several food stalls and artists with their creative work. This was a great experience overall and would recommend this to anyone visiting Melbourne. You can easily spend 3 hours here. It’s free! Lots of families and groups hanging out to enjoy this awesome place. They can use more seating areas considering how busy it got, but you can always arrive earlier than the crowd or find a corner to sit on as long as you aren’t blocking the way. We went to the Black Sheep stall and we were happy we tried it. I recommend the mixed meat if you want to experience all their meat in one sitting.
Great for weekly grocery shopping. Prices are cheaper than supermarkets and has a huge variety of veggies and fruits. You can get some of those asian/Indian staple items such as fresh green chillies, curry leaves, snake beans, okra, snake gourd etc.Their meat market is also huge with multiple outlets for fish, poultry and red meat. The specialist shopping sheds also are fantastic which is a good tourist spot if you were to spend half a day not shopping groceries.Ample parking available in and around the market.
Great place to buy fruits and veggies on bargain, meat and groceries. Its also famous for tourists to buy souvenirs.
In Melbourne this is the oldest market.Has fish, meat, food, flowers, gifts and everything in-between. It is huge and goes back out and into other buildings. Set aside about 2 hours if you want to fully explore and more if you stop for food. One star off as disappointed that the fish market section does not have any food stalls selling fresh seafood dishes like other fish markets in other countries do.If coming from CBD you can take the free tram as this is within the free tram zone so getting there is easy.Must be ticked off if in Melbourne.
Good place for Australian souvenir shopping. There have a lot of goods, most made in China/Indonesia, some made in Australia. Overall is fine. You can find the local goods in here with cheap price. It’s open everyday from early morning until 3 pm. On Wednesday, it has night market.
Great historical market in the heart of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, where you can find a huge variety of shops selling quality fresh food, veggies and fruits, gifts, clothes, art work and other stuff.I highly recommend it for the international visitors as well as the locals.
We were here in 2019 and the market was bustling. The difference between our visit then and now in September 2022 is significant. Many stalls gone. They have not yet recovered from the hardships of covid lockdowns. They need your support. The food and fresh produce markets is as awesome as ever.Oh the choices are mind boggling. So worth the visit. Iconic as ever.
Only been down for morning market, which already has eclectic selection of freshly made food in various cuisines, meat, seafood, vegetables & fruits, souvenirs, clothes, books, shoes, etc.Yet to try night market which others seem to suggest is more fun and with more variety.Crowd:Throbbing with lots of people during the day already even during winter and spring, but you’re still able to move about without much issue.Price:Prices range from affordable similar to elsewhere to rather overpriced (especially items which aren’t typically locally grown or produced in Aussie, eg sugarcane juice for $7!to good deal depending on store and item.Payment:Cards accepted but many stores charge a fixed fee or % to pass on the merchant fee which is very annoying, so better to use cash here.
Managed to visit the 2022 winter night market on the last day and it was a great experience. Variety of food stalls and other entertainment. Wish there were a bit more seating and loos.
A mix of multicultural flavours, sounds and everything else in between, the iconic Queen Vic Market, now with late night Winter (and Summermarkets! Make sure you check you the Turkish Delights stall for a real treat!
Relatively quiet during the day time. Winter night market draws more crowd. Good variety of food and the the best offers come in nearer to closing time. Seats available near the food section
Love the Vic market, I find the best time to go there is Sunday afternoon, for fruit & veg etc the seller is aiming to get rid of there stock and you will definitely grab a bargain, & you have to try the famous jam donuts there worth the wait 🍉🍇🍌🍩,also worth checking out the night market between June 1st to august 31
Love the market! Fresh fruit, seafood, indoor deli, and bakery shops. Flea Market isles and special events. Night market, Car shows, various festivals. Check out Whats On | City of Melbourne & local events on Facebook. Great atmosphere!
If you have a chance, visit the post covid winter night market. It’s not as crowded (there’s room to walk), you stand eating but if you wanna sit, do go earlier! There’s lots of cuisines from all over the world!
We visited the winter night market and had a wonderful time! We have been many times to the markets during the day and it’s always a hit. Highly recommend taking one of the tours that are run to see the best of the markets. During the winter months the night markets are well worth a look too!
Enjoyed visiting the Winter Night Market. Great atmosphere and vibes but was very busy. Even though food and drink lines were long they moved quickly.
The market is not limited to selling vegetables but it also organises open and free events in a big way. Food festivals are amazing, They have open festivals for each community too where you have culture wise cuisine and programs.
Always plenty of fresh fruit and veggies at great prices. Best place for tourist souvenirs. They even had a hot rod display
Can see the appeal of the night market for some but we went at 5.30pm and it was packed. Too many people crammed in, lines for all the savoury food stalls. Prefer the day time option, much less busy and calm.
New parking ($6 for two hrsis much easier to navigate however the food prices are not cheaper, post pandemic everything is up high, fresh seafood 🦞 is Ace !!
OMG this is the best market ever. There is something for everyone. From Australian gifts, clothes, shoes, leather goods and much much more. Then there’s the food section. The fresh fruit and veges, meats and seafood. And then the best part ever, all the little delis selling the most amazing selections of cold meats, cheeses dips, olives, crackers absolutely everything you could imagine. It’s amazing. Spend a couple of hours or spend the day but just make sure you put it on your to do list.
A nice not so little market in the middle of the city. The place is ideal to find fresh veggies on very nominal prices. They also have many small businesses outlets selling art, souvenirs, knock-off clothes, leather items. I did get passport holder customised from here, they had so many options and colours. The place also hosts night markets on Wednesday during summer and winter. The night markets are fun filled with music, food and shopping outlets.
Well worth a visit to walk around and see many unique items on sale. Food, drink, veggies and more to buy at good prices
Great range of markets. It is great that parts of the markets are separated into precincts. Rows and rows of stalls to peruse with goods of all kinds.
What an experience- this is what a market should be like, bustling and has everything you could possibly need. A great place to grab a bite to eat and sit watch the charm and characters of the market
Great place to start the day visiting Melbourne. Good food options and well priced clothing and soft furnishings. Avoid the tourist stuff unless thats what you really want. Food hall is excellent and always crowded. Loved the ambience. Dont miss a visit.
Amazing American donuts. Worth the wait. Overall, the market is a good place to get cheap souvenir, and have a look at the local marketplace. There are many street stalls selling international food.
Amazing market. Fresh fruit and vegetables, sea food and meat. Deli and cheese, great food to takeaway and some nice bakeries and coffeehouse too.
Huge market with fresh fruit and veg beautifully presented, nice coffee, delicatessen and bakery. Nice atmosphere.
I felt so alive in this market. Everyone around is so happy and welcoming. You get everything in the morning market, from veggies to house decor to clothes to small eatery shops.I would highly recommend this place, as in the morning you will get to see some live performances of emerging artists.
I love the summer night market here. So many food options. The queues can be very long so you should arrive early.
Lovely place , suit the whole family for visiting. It got nice coffee shops and a variety of food store. Lots of cheese stores as well. Leather jackets etc
Had the chance to visit here for the Summer Night Market - which was really nice! Good crowd with nice food we could share and nibble on. Good enough drinks selection for a market too. Worth a visit with some friends, and would love to check this out in the day too.
Iconic heritage listed market - one that I had given a wide berth for over a decade! At that time - apart from fresh food - it was full of overpriced china made trinkets & souvenirs. It has since been upgraded & revamped but I just did not get round to visiting. Glad I finally did & found it to be a vibrant place with craft stalls, quality clothes, bags, toys & other items. It is still the foremost place for fresh food with a dedicated section for organic produce & continental deli products. You will also find services like leather embossing, engraving & mobile phone repairs. The souvenir stalls are still there - not to worry. But now at least - it is outnumbered by quality stalls as well. I hope when things return to previous levels with international travellers - it does not degenerate to over priced souvenir stalls again!Note: Sun yday - a special event of music & gourmet food was on in the middle, cordoned off section. This was strictly for the vaccinated & you had to show your Cert. Looks like bcos of this - anti-vaxxers have left one star reviews to downgrade the ratings! Ignore that.. This is a fabulous fresh food market with alfresco cafes, variety of stalls in retail & cuisines - in a fun, open breezy atmosphere.
Went to the Summer Night Markets and the atmosphere was amazing. Live music and incredible food options were what we were there for and there were a few market stalls dotted inbetween. It was really busy but coming out of lockdowns it was great to see so many people enjoying what the Queen Vic Markets had to offer.
Amazing place to buy everyday groceries. So fresh and reasonable!!!Highly recommended!!Tried their bakery items and they were amazing❤️
Lovely atmosphere, lively music was awesome all around. Great summer night market with a good variety of food stalls... could have definitely been more stalls but the food was great nonetheless. Only downside is waiting time for food as the lines are awfully long so get there early I guess(?)
Went to night market. Fun atmosphere, wide selection of choices, including some great food trucks. We try to arrive early, check out all the choices, get a drink, find a table then take turns going to buy our food. There is also an option to reserve a table for 4+. Expect to queue for food.
I just love going to night market but this year it’s not really exciting. There should have been more food stalls
I think this may have been the highlight of our Melbourne trip. This market is a sensory overload. The quality and variety of food and goods here was purely amazing. What ever you do, dont miss going here. Saturday morning seemed to be the best day
A great place to visit in Melbourne. Love the variety of the shops that sell all kind of daily stuffs. You can find all in one here. Especially love the market where I can find unlimited fresh shucked oysters. It is really value for money and good bargain fresh seafood ! We also found place to get our fresh ground coffee, fruits are a gem that sell mussels pot! The mussel pot has been here many years and cooked really good mussel pot. Do try the spicy one with coconut cream and chili. Dipping in with bread made your day!
