Casual, cheerful eatery offering traditional Ethiopian cooking & a hookah lounge.
The atmosphere is horrible. Everyone makes you feel so uncomfortable and like you’re out of place. We were stared at by “security” the entire time. At one point, some man, I assume he’s the owner, walked up to my boyfriend & literally just started starring at him & asks “can i help you?” We said we are waiting for food & he just walks off. We are paying customers, I don’t get why we’re treated this way. There was a pro*titute in front of the building & security was interacting with this lady in a way that was far from business like….. I took pictures but I will not post that here. This kind of thing is going on right in front of the place, imagine what goes on inside. SMH. Would NOT reccommend going here if you don’t look like them. The food is not even all that good…
Tried to get Ethiopian food for my sister’s birthday. Says it’s open online but wasn’t accepting calls and doors were closed upon arrival. Not pleased at all.
Came on Saturday during business hours approx 245pm & doors were locked. We knocked on all 3 doors and waited several minutes. No reponse
Been there twice - great in both occasions. The owner is interested in talk to you and giving recommendations based on what you’re willing to try. Love their avocado salad appetizer too!
The owner of the restaurant was super friendly the place is kind of old but feels like home the owner made sure my family was comfortable food came out 15 minutes later hot and fresh and tasty the kids really enjoyed this experience and want to return
Thanks for hosting this White House chef!
Where to begin... On New Years day I thought Id treat my girlfriend to an Ethiopian meal. I called Queen Sheeba ahead of time and asked if they had Sombousas as its my girlfriends favorite. The woman who answered said they did. When we got there she said they didnt have any, and the restaurant was in a sketchy part of town. It didnt seem dangerous but it was located in an odd location. Not where I would think a restaurant would be. There was garbage all over the parking lot and strange people just lingering around. Inside the restaurant the floors were sticky, and I had to get up from my table to get service. The food didnt taste fresh and the meals that were on the website menu, we were told, were not available to order. I understand running out of certain items, but all of the items we wanted werent available.I also noticed that the napkins at the table were cocktail napkins. Ive been to plenty of Ethiopian restaurants and this one was by far the worst one Ive ever been to. All things said, I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Please avoid!!!!!😡
Very nice and welcoming. Food was delicious and menu was explained. First time and will return.
Great food and good service. Want to try something great I recommend the gored gored!
Today I visited this place with my family for dinner to eat tibs and kittfo and we had the worst experience.* We foud long hair inside the tibs and notified to the owner.* The kitifo meet was not the right meet that needs to be kitfo.* The restroom is the dirtiest stinking place I have ever seen, flies everywhere. My 3 years boy vomited as soon as he got in the restroom.I wounderd how this people exist in the market with this bad quality of service.I am an Ethiopian and I dont advice this place at all.Waste of money. The ratings are deciving.
Service was prompt and excellent. My food was amazing. Everything was hot, fresh and served with a smile. I will definitely go back!
Gorgeous venue, But the are not prepared for take out orders. I was disappointed in my meal.
Menu was a bit difficult to understand but the hostess was very helpful. Food was absolutely delicious, took a while to come out but well worth the wait. 100% will eat here again (also, place has a 100% sanitary score)
Our food was delicious. I love Ethiopian food and this restaurant did not disappoint. I plan on coming back.
This was my first time ever trying Ethiopian food. I enjoyed my food and the experience. There is a bread that they use to eat their food and it is called injera. It is not my thing but I did try it.some people like it some dont but it is all in the experience. The staff is very friendly and some may not speak english but no worries they will get someone to come and assist. They do have a club next door so it can get loud but it is very entertaining. Overall I will try it again.
I absolutely loved it here. The food was perfect and service was great!!!Will definitely revisit before heading back to Colorado
Delicious classical Ethiopian food. Fresh, clean and nice music.
They charged me triple the amount for the food, like who charges $5 dollar for a water bottle? a water bottle. they don’t even deserve a one star. I high wouldn’t recommend this restaurant, unless you like getting scammed
I had a beautiful experience here. Great customer service + amazing food + peaceful environment. Highly recommend.
I thought the food served is "excellent" in quality and quantity! As it was my very first time having Ethiopian quinine, I was delightfully surprised! After having traveled the world as a Marine, I came to love Filipino and Okinawan foods!I highly suggest dropping by this restaurant for a taste youll enjoy like no other! The Gunny
This was my first time ever eating Ethiopian food and it was amazing! The woman that served us was incredibly friendly and answered all of our questions. It can be intimidating going into a restaurant not knowing anything about the food but she was happy to teach us about it and Ethiopian culture. Even if the food wasn’t delicious (which it certainly wasI would go back for the fantastic service.
The food was delicious and the staff super friendly. We had a party of 7 and the staff was great. They explained the food and the traditional way to eat it. And the coffee was to die for.
Delicious food and excellent service.
I really like this place. I would feel done when I visit this place even I am so hungry. Awaze tibs beef and doro tibs chicken are my favorites!
Owner was super polite and the food was very Delicious. the whole Meal was an experience
Awesome atmosphere! Friendly staff! Tasty food! Great price!
The entire room is painted and renovated with different Ethiopian traditional pictures. generally you might have say looking Ethiopian.
I really enjoy this establishment. I love that you can hear the music from the bar next door it feels like a hangout spot. The food is great and we are lovers of the Teff bread. I get the vegetable platter for my family and I being that we are vegans. The cabbage is our favorite of them all.My 2 year old daughter is a fan of the avocado and the bread. I was nice to find a pace where she can get a filling meal.
Pleasantly surprised by this place. The food was good & the hot tea was my favorite!
Amazing flavors and great hospitality from the owner. The positions are huge but so tasty, you need to eat here!!!!
This evening was my first time tasting Ethiopian food. The food was amazing! Everything was so flavorful. We ordered the Meat platter as well as the Vegetable platter. The food was plentiful. I have to admit I was very skeptical because Ive never eaten anything other than American food. In Ethopian culture you eat with your hands but it was great to experience this. While eating the owner came over and educated us on culture. My friend and I sampled coffee. When coffee is drank popcorn is consumed with it as well. If you havent had a chance to try this amazing hidden gem please go support them tell them The BBOC team sent you! You wont regret your experience.
If you want to try a new cuisine, definitely consider Ethiopian cuisine. I had heard a lot about it and it was really good!
Great spot to eat, service good, and gives you the vibe of being back in Africa. Just wish the place was more visible and had more exposure.
Perfect place and clean nice to hung out in here and by the way I love the food they have and good price thou.
I came here with my Missus, who is Ethiopian, in August, having been here in 2016 and enjoyed the experience. We tried the vegetarian option with injeera. I love Ethiopian food as it is so full of flavour but this was so bland. We both stopped eating and told the guy who served us and took our order. He didnt offer us another choice. If this had been the first time I had eaten Ethiopian food I probably wouldnt bother eaten it again. We were very disappointed with this experience. There are much better alternatives in Charlotte.
This is an exquisite, authentic Ethiopian restaurant. If you have never tried Ethiopian food before, this is the place to try it. Once you eat here, you will never be satisfied with another Ethiopian restaurant again. Bon Appetite!
Atmosphere was laid back and pleasant as well as staff...first time having Ethiopian...not my favorite...spicy but not well spiced if that makes any sense? Good quantity but pretty pricey...
Great service, very kind and open owner. I liked the food very much, and the place was humble, but welcoming. Completely worth it!
The food was so delicious and the service was amazing. The owners were so warm and welcoming. Excellent experience all the way around!
One of the best restaurant experiences in charlotte Ive ever had! The owners were so welcoming (even to our crazy kidsand made some of the most delicious Ethiopian food ever! We cant wait to go back!
I come here a few times a month. My go to Ethiopian spot in Charlotte. Ive been to all the others and none of the food was better than Queen Shebas. Ive been coming here religiously for about 2 years now. Great food and great staff!
Authentic Ethiopian and Eritrean food served here,,, the service is great as well. Love to come this place often.
The food was really good and the portions were big, as I kept one tray for two days. The wait time was kind of long, but maybe the longer you wait, the better the food.
Lovely staff, and the food is so authentic and delicious. Definitely recommend!
Great food. Authentic Ethiopian. Lots of Ethiopian cab drivers hanging out in the parking lot. Do not expect attentive service. You probably want to walk up to the counter if you need something.
Eat with your hands and enjoy the Harmony of wonderful spices that come together in a Indescribable way. Great people, if you have any questions on the menu dont hesitate to ask. This one of our favorite ethnic restaurants for date night.
As someone from Ethiopia, I was very disappointed with most of the dishes Ive had here.I dined here with some friends, and I was embarrassed with what they served as Ethiopian cuisine. Maybe it was a bad week for the cooks, maybe there was change in staff, but I hate to say it..the food here is terrible. Mr/Ms owner, please improve the taste, flavors and quality of the dishes you serve. Not that any of the other Ethiopian restaurants in CLT are much better, but it shouldnt come to competition to find a fairly decent Ethiopian restaurant in town. The server was very polite and nice, but the overall service was pretty slow.
This is the best Ethiopian place in Charlotte hands down. One of the best in the country. As to the other reviewers negative comments - I was there the week of the Groupon special. The small team at the restaurant was not ready for the demand which may have led to issues with service though my food was excellent as always. I have never had a bad meal here though I will say the language barrier with some of the staff can be challenging. I dont care. Price, authenticity and quality are top notch. Go downtown if you want the Americanized version with high prices and small servings. I know for a fact if you have an issue with the food the owner will replace it with a dish of your liking though Ive never needed to do that. Only negative is the neighborhood. Just go during the day.
A clean. well lit place with excellent food. You have to try the avocado salad! ...and dont forget the hookah.
Experience a real EthiopiaI’ve seen mixed reviews from users. This was far from my first time visit to an Ethiopian restaurant, but is definitely the worth one. I used to enjoy Ethiopian food and this visit changed it. Food was terrible, meat was hard and many items were out as I was told due to high response to Groupon. Waitress spoke no English. If you go out for good food and nice atmosphere I would suggest an Ethiopian restaurant downtown.
