Walking along the lake, we came to see Quan Thanh temple. Serene and beautiful and so relaxing

Really beautiful and peaceful. Its a 1000 year old temple and a famous tourist attraction. However, I didnt get much crowd during my visit, and whatever visitors came in, left within a few minutes. You can spend some time here reading on its history and relax/meditate.

Beautiful place with old pagoda and wonderful garden

It is a rare Taoist temple. Dont expect too much, and if youre nearby, please visit us.

You should come here when in the area and stop by the Taoist temple, there is no entry charge. Except a 5 - 15 walk around a temple with minimal explanation but with people worshiping as it is active.

It’s always refreshing to get away from the traffic and scooter chaos of hanoi - the random assortment of temples give you a chance to have a break. Quan is pleasant and cool with towering trees in the courtyard providing ample shade. Beautiful temple with impressive shrine

Beautiful 1000 treats old temple with a big 350 years old statue inside. The French called it the temple of big Buddha, even though the stature is of a general and not a Buddha.

A lot of Vietnamese people come here to pray. Not really for foreigner to go for sight seeing. They have a beautiful front entrance for sure thats worth to see however.

Quan Thanh Temple (Đền Quán Thánh).This is a Taoist temple in Hanoi, was build in the 11th century the temple was dedicated to Xuan Wu(Trấn Vũ), one of the principal deities in Taoism.Base on the story this one of the Four Sacred Temples of the capital city, that were built in four directions to protect the capital from malevolent spirits. Quán Thánh protects from the North, while the other three temples protect from the other directions: Bạch Mã from the East, Kim Liêm from the South, and Thần Linh Lang from the West.Quán Thánh Temple has been renovated several times, most recently in 1893 when the principal gate and the shrine were redone, so the architecture is a mixture of the many different styles of the imperial era. The main features of Quán Thánh Temple are a large yard shaded by a giant banyan tree and a shrine that contains the famous bronze statue of Trấn Vũ.Quán Thánh is located near West Lake in the Quan Thanh Ward.Nowadays this is one of the leading tourist attractions in Hanoi, if you take a Hanoi city tour they will show you this place as well.

A modest looking temple from outside but beautiful on the inside, with a 4m tall bronze statue inside the temple.Lots of pretty statues on the courtyard and cost 30,000 VND (£1definitely worth stopping by on the way past.I would even make the trip just to see it!

An old Taoist temple with a lot of tablets with Chinese characters. The writing was poetic. There is a small art gallery at the side of the temple within the same compound. Some of the artworks are original. There are also handicraft and sovenior fof sale.

Ticket costs 10,000 vnd to visit this Taoist temple in Hanoi with 4 tonnes bronze statue inside the temple near West Lake. The statue was made in 1677 as the North Guardian for Vietnamese to stop the invader from the North.You can walk to Tran Quoc pagoda and John Sidney Mccain monument.

Hmm, a nice small temple to visit. A large front square is good place to take picture. However, u need to buy ticket to go in, tho its cheap ~

Its not a temple you would go out of your way to see, compared to the other temples its fairly ordinary and the other attractions nearby (pagoda, lake, mausoleum, etcthose are better but I would suggest this as a secondary place to visit if you are walking between the pagoda and the mausoleum. Its pretty cheap to enter but once inside, theres not much to it, the backside borders on some residential property.

This is one of the 4 gates of Hanoi, its been here for many years and contains an impressive sculpture and shrine dedicated in the Toaist tradition.The area is quiet despite being near one the busiest roads in Hanoi and has plenty of shade.Its possible to explore this place even on the hottest of days due to its small area and decent tree cover.The charge at the door is less than 50K

Entrance fee costs 10000.I didnt pay. Guard allowed me to go by free.Nothing so interesting here.Despite the fact that some local guys practice Kung Fu at that moment.However, I visited Kung Fu centre in China for 1 week.

I think the entrance was 10k VDN. You will see some nice views but wont spend a lot of time. Nice to visit if its on the way

Cheap entrance, but nothing that stands out. If youre in the area, go visit it. But otherwise, I wouldnt bother crossing Hanoi for this.

I have visited this place. Atmosphere is really cool and awesome.

Such a peaceful temple! Go early in the morning to beat the crowds. It is possible to sit in the garden on the benches for reflection, youll immediately notice the birds and butterflies. The surroundings are beautifully maintained and it is highly ornate inside. So much beauty!

Its an old temple with many devotees, coming for prayers. Need to pay for entry!!! Its situated along the main road and parking may be an issue.If one walks, its pretty near the Hanoi West Lake, Ho Chi Minh Masoluem.Note: visit only when one have the time!

A great and peaceful temple to spend time introspection or maybe having a calm place to discuss with somebody..Nearby to the big lakes.. it makes a excellent destination to have a stroll around on cloudy day...Fortunately we had while afternoon cloudy for us.. and time went brilliantly..There are some restaurants nearby and roadside vendors also..

Quan Thanh temple is an important historical and cultural place which is built during the reign of King Ly Thai To (1010-1028and renovated many times.From the temple’s gate, you will see a majestic 3-door entrance which was built on large stones with a bell tower on its top. The tiger standing in front of the temple is considered to be the guard of the temple. Passing through the gate is a large yard shaded by a banyan tree with a basin of goldfish and a rock work. Going inside the temple, visitors will be caught by the giant black bronze statue of Huyen Thien Tran Vu which is 3.72 in height and four tons in weight. The statue appears as a sitting Taoist hermit, the left hand passes magic and the right hand holds a sword shrouded by a snake propping against the back of a tortoise. This is a special sculpture with a refined casting technique of Vietnamese people in the 17th century. Inside the temple, there is also a statue of “Old Trong” who made the statue of Saint Tran Vu.

Very nice temple with interesting architecture. Worth going to have a quick look around.

This is as local of an experience as you can get especially witnessing the monks during their prayer time. Just make sure to respect what’s going on and don’t make any noise.

A small temple but worth a visit if you are nearby. 玄天上帝廟。

Lovely historic temple near West Lake in Hanoi. Very colourful inside, guess it has been recently restored. 10 000 Dong admission charge. Doesnt seem to get as many tourists as the nearby and crowded Tran Quoc Pagoda. If you are visiting one well worth visiting the other. Be aware that Tran Quoc closes for lunch at 1130 until 1330.

Cost to park motor bike (if you haveand also an entry fee, but minimal. Very large property, so assume more time walking around than the Pagoda down the street. Getting to isnt the easier and the curbs are Really tall to get your motorbike onto the sidewalk. Very peaceful....I suggest sitting in the courtyard to relax.

Beautiful, authentic, very old. 11th century, according to our guide. I felt very intrusive as it was a new moon day and our group made it difficult for the locals to worship. Very ornate and intriguing!

Beautifully preserved temple. Fine garden with large, old trees and a few bonsai; elaborate carvings on the roof; inside, calligraphy and an impressive bronze statue.There are also a few 19th century documents inside: photos of the temple as it looked then, a map of its grounds.
