16-18 Friar St, Reading RG1 1DB, Takum
VIP areas, fire breathers and pyrotechnics over 3 floors with house, chart and R&B music.
This place is known for having the worst doormen in town, I work in a club in town myself so I would be the last person to complain as I do see what everyone has to put up with in hospitality but sometimes it just isnt on, my nephew who is only 18 was in this venue with a few girl mates, the ginger doorman took a dislike to him as soon as he walked through the door, Im assuming because he was with girls and they like their club to be filled with young girls (as we all knowhe waited for his chance to get hold of my nephew scraped his face along a brick wall my nephew tried to speak to him, ask him what he did wrong and tried to reason with him but he then went on to break his hand while needlessly restraining him, disgusting behaviour from a grown man, a man that is supposed to be there for protection, they are nothing but bullies.
The ginger bartender girl was so freaking rude!! She gave the person next to me a free drinks just because he was good looking. I was so upset from that.
Horrible staff and manager. Customer service means nothing at this club. I would give less than one star if I could.
I was going through the website when I came across these very strange and bordering on discriminately entry and dress code rules..DRESS CODEQ Club operates a dress code that we ask all customers to follow. No hats. No tracksuits/sportswear. No timberland or work boots. No visible neck/facial tattoos. No entry for any one on their own.?Once I read this I thought ..thats is one place you dont wanna be and judging by the reviews I was correct.
My mates mum got chlamydia in your male toilets on student night
They disciminate against single males, wasnt planning on a night out in Reading but plans got cancelled for the following day. Wasnt allowed in this club for no other reason than I was on my own.
Experience was decent, music is very outdated. DJ was dry. Try get someone younger in
Was awful night out, staff are extremely rude. Would not recommend to anyone.
Disgrace of a place, discriminatory towards people with disabilities. The manager(George), or atleast he claims to be the manager is a rude and inconsiderate ar*ehole. I’m sure he’ll get his just deserts soon. The bouncers are literally thick beyond belief and can’t process anything other than kicking people out. Wa*k stains, the lot of them.
Great priced drinks, with little to no wait at the bars. However the overall experiences is hindered by the uneasy feeling that your not at a nightclub but instead in the exercise yard of a maximum security prison. Whilst the music tends to be good, having people around you being constantly bundled away by burley men just rather takes away from the overall enjoyment of the evening. Nevertheless, if your happy to accept the uncanny similarities between Q-Club and the movie the Thinning, it is a great night out in Reading!
I was caught vaping whilst leaving the club with friends, the bouncers shoved me and threatened me. No warning nothing, straight to physical force. Complete wan*ers, be careful all the guys do not have a GCSE to their name.***UPDATE went 2 weeks later, I was overly drunk but they grabbed me by the neck and punched me, bouncers are the worst. Owners need to make changes ASAP
Horrible club. Bouncers do not try to reason with you whatsoever; they do not have a breathalyser, so they literally kicked out someone who hadnt drank anything in the venue (despite being let in 10 minutes earlier). We Went to gun street garden instead, much better. Never going to q club again. Also, the manager started swearing at us when we asked why they cant just reevaluate whether this person is drunk.
Defo worst club in reading and I’ve been to ever, bouncers are on a power trip , save your money and go somewhere else.
Bouncers are rude and pushy. 99% of the attendees are creeps. Expensive drinks after 12 (but theres no point in going before as its dead). Music is pretty dull.
I was barred in 2017 and am still barred the reason for me being barred is because I am a BLACK GUY that wore white jeans and yeezy high tops which were white. At first I wasn’t allowed in because of my white shoes. However I had a bag on me which had black trainers in it. Which when I changed into them. I still wasn’t allowed in. 1 year later I was still banned. Couldn’t reason with the bouncers And I decided to go back in December 2021 and I’m still barred. Q CLUB is a racist establishment if you are BLACK u should not be giving them your money. Im not a trouble maker just a normal guy looking to go out and enjoy myself but there establishment is fully racist. As they have no footage of me fighting outside or causing trouble so the only explanation I’m barred is because when I tried to go in that night it was me and 5 other black guys. And they assumed we were trouble makers for being black and barred me for it
Terrible club, bouncers are horrible and seem to pick on people for no reason. Im guessing its because theyre bored and it makes their night more interesting, well sure it does for them - but it ruined ours.Went to gun street garden, got let in no problem which is 5 minutes away. In addition, why let someone in to q club and then kick them out 10 minutes later when they havent drank anything additional? Eitherway, just rude and a bad club.
Over friendly bouncer, they just perv on all the woman they deem worthy and look at you like a piece of meat you can guarantee they will ask for uour number or Snapchat thinking they can get lucky. The female bouncer with brown hair seems to be in a world of her own. She isnt doing anything except trying to desperately get attention from the men. The bar staff are lovely and seem to always have a smile even when the crowd is being a bit much for them. The bouncers seem to have a high and mighty attitude on them with the men customers the music is relatively good. The dance floor is a bit sticky. You can clearly see they let in under age females aswell. Not as classy as its made our to be.
Extremely outdated music, blocked toilets, rude staff (doormen and managers are racist towards Nepalese people .. very clear to seeand everyone here is very clearly underage … not worth your time or money!
Good solid club. Bouncers are respectable. Drinks aren’t served too slow. Good night out.
Literally the only reason this place gets any business is by default of being the only actual club in reading. Manned by a team of bouncers suffering from small man syndrome who are just looking for a reason to throw their weight around with a bunch of kids.
The worst night club in England stuf so rude racist they did let me go in because I was alone i been in every night club in England and no one say that but the stuff there are so rude I would never go there anymore very bad place
Blonde/brown hair bartender on 2310/2020 gave 4 of our drinks correctly and when told he made a mistake he told us we were “stupid.” Wearing a black sweater. We also saw him drinking an alcoholic drink behind the bar, which we assume is against the law. Great night ruined by one horrible man.
Despite it being our servers first shift she was lovely. Daisy was quick with our order and friendly when taking out order at the table. Good music all night too 👌🏻
Loved it when I turned 18 but I really just think they need to close it for good and completely revamp it in every way possible. Professional training for their bouncers would be a good way to start
This is a decent nightclub with a moderate variety of music shared between two rooms. The price is okay but expect the venue to be very crowded with long queues to get in if any events are happening here.
Been here twice in a row this weekend. Friday and Saturday. It’s not my usual night out as I’m visiting a local friend and first night was great, drinks are okay prices, really good music mixes, good vibe and strong bouncer presence- friend had a bit too much and we got asked to leave which tbh was fair. Had a really nice time- then contrast that with last night it was like a whole other place. The guys and men (I say men too because the 30 plus year olds are some of the worst for itthere were on another level creepy. I didn’t dare drink anything stronger than alcopop because I was worried we would be groped, harassed or attacked. We were dancing in a very tight knit group, not inviting attention from anyone and it felt constantly like there were guys who couldn’t take the obvious hint and they kept trying to get behind us and grab us- getting aggressive when we said no we weren’t interested because ALL FOUR of us are in relationships. There is also an issue with randomers who line the outside of the dance floor and just stare at you- it literally felt like if they could, they would crank one out right then and there. One even tried sneakily to film us and only slunk away when I deadeyed him and we told the bouncer we were being followed around. This particular bouncer was great and checked in with us a couple times to keep an eye out for us.
Pretty strict on entry, particularly those over 30 years old but under 60, perhaps some sort of novelty too going here when your over 60. Pretty expensive, unless you get drinks in before 12 in which case its pretty reasonable. 2 rooms with different music, something for most people, smoking area is uncovered and pretty small. Bouncers are strict and they will search all Men that enter.
Music is all right but the staff is awful. Hung my coat and hood in the cloakroom and the staff just gave one ticket for both of them. When I came back I only got my coat back because "you dont have the ticket for hood which I gave you before"
I’ve been going to Q club since September of 2017, I’ve only been back a few times now since going to uni. And both of those times I have been man handled by security!😞 one of the times I was pushed aggressively and called a “dick head” simply for standing next to the smoking area while it was closed because I was on a call and couldn’t hear inside the club. Some of these security guards are really impatient and can be physically agressive! DO NOT recommend!!!!
Worst ever club in reading. The bouncer at the door is super racist if ur black/brown skinned with a beard he will not let you in. Also if u come a group of 5-6 ur not allowed entry. Ruined the whole night for me!
Disgusted by this cub!! The bouncer at the door refused to let us in cause we arrived at the entrance in a group, we was dress appropriately aswell. Travelled all the way from Southampton to enjoy a night out and had my night ruined by the ugly fat bouncer at the door. This club don’t even deserve a star.
Absolutely awfully bouncer at the door won’t let us in the club saying that we aren’t dressed appropriately, when all I was wearing was a shirt with jeans and casual sneakers. I was discriminated because I was black the worst experience I have gon through in my whole life. It’s 2018 and there are still racist people out there. This gives a bad name to a decent club.
After visiting a friend for a night out in reading we wondered down the highstreet wondering where to go as we were new to the area. We were swamped by staff from this nightclub who persuaded us to go to this club in exchange for "VIP wristbands" which were meant to gain us free entry and queue jump. Needless to say we arrive at the club and the wristbands meant absolutely nothing and we had to pay to get in. There was no VIP.The venue itself was gross.
Queued for about 40 minutes to queue for another 20 minutes to get a wristband to get us into the queue for Q (A Level results night). Was absolutely dead and very small and cramped. Drinks were nowhere near what they should have been. 2 double shot mixers and a jägerbomb shouldn’t leave a 5’3” 120lbs girl being able to walk straight.
Absolutely disgusted , was refused entry due to having a neck tattoo travelled from London to enjoy the evening only to be discriminated agasint for the way I look further more and after extensively researching there website is dose not state that this is a policy and I later find out the actual owner is covered in tattooStay clear people plenty of other establishments to enjoy your evening and spend your money
Terrible security and bouncers. Having a great night with friends and get kicked out without any previous bad behaviour or provocation for sitting on the bar, and getting off as soon as I was told by the barman. Instantly kicked out. After apologetically going with the bouncer to the exit I try to talk to the bouncers outside politely about it, and how it was a bit harsh and they were completely dismissive and self righteous. Never going Q again, until the security learn respect and how to talk to their customers
Absolutely disgraceful to think I paid £15 for entry alone only to be denied entry due to knowing someone who was drunk. The staff were so rude towards me never going back ever again ever in my life ever
What can I say. Infront of the queueafter 15 min only to be told that I had Jordans on. 7 white guys were in the smoking area with addidas Nike and other trainer dirty but bouncer said Clean new xxxx1Jordans were different lol. My first night in reading and my last. I know I was black but please dont make it that obvious.
Music are OK from either rooms but the drinks are terrible, expensive and absolutely not worth the money. My experience as a VIP is something Id never book again - the staff were absolutely rude and theyd gave our table away to another group and expected us to go for a smaller we didnt even book for, and then being told that we have too many people when we CLEARLY told them how many were booked for.
Arrived with 3 of my friends, wed all had a couple of drinks and were tipsy at most. Everyone else was allowed in but I was told I was "too drunk" and "slurring my words" by the bouncers. They asked me to wait 20 minutes before coming back. I ended up having to wait 40 minutes before they reluctantly let me in, only for me to discover the place was pretty much dead. Dont bother with this place.
Absolute awful place! The bouncers were being racist and claimed to turn a girl away because she was too drunk even tho she did not drink for religious reasons. This is a terrible issue and Q club you should really sort out the way your bouncers speak to their customers it is no way to ever speak to a person
The bouncers are awful. Theyre overly aggressive and dont bother telling of the big lads who cause trouble. Theyre known for kicking people out for no reason and I was kicked out for being "too drunk"... Id had two drinks so thats a little bit of a stretch, refused to breathalyse me or allow to prove my sobriety in anyway. Dont bother going here. Staff are rude. Drinks are expensive and watered down. Bouncers are idiots and clearly arent professional and the manager is known to treat customers badly and even laugh at them. Try Matchbox, Public or Sakura, theyre cheaper and the staff are at least reasonable. Honestly a joke.
In the company of friends, this is a pretty great club. Loads of security guards and they can be a little overwhelming at times when it comes to moving around, but then thats their job. Really huge bar and a good selection of drinks. Their cocktails arent that great though. The smoking area is really small and can get really tight
Today I wrote myself on guestlist on facebook, tried to get in, but the security guy didnt let me in because of single entry rules. So I went through Reading for a wile, when a promoter asked me if I want to get in Q Club for free. I eplained him the situation and he told me to pick up some randoms and get in with them. A few moments later another promoter asked me the same question, and again I explained him what happened and he said the same thing as the other promoter. So I asked two girls, if I could get in Q Club with them, they agreed, but the security guy still didnt let me in because I just met the girls.Something is wrong with the communication between promoters and security in this club.Really disappointed!
Terrible ..... avoid! !! Advised would have FREE shots just by downloading free app and adding people to like q bar page. Added 40 friends to get given non alcoholic shot. . OK!Speak with staff and ask why the shot is non alcoholic, for the staff to call over manager DAVID JAMES.. who replies so what... you got a shot... and walk off.. turn his back to me then continue to laugh with colleagues !! Rude rude management. If you offer something atleast provide what youve advertised. Dont try and fob customers off thinking people are drunk and no know better!! SERIOUS COMPLAINT COMING Q BAR FOR RUDE STAFF MANAGEMENT!!!!
Wont be returning again! Both times I have been the men at the club have been bordering on harassment, with lots of unwelcome groping and bum touching that was not at all invited. Think security needs to be more aware of how intimidating and scary it is for young women. Wouldnt recommend for a fun night out as a group of girls.
I know why its called Q. Because you spend most of the night Queuing.Dont go if you plan of taking a jacket. Youll have to queue half an hour to check it in and then another hour to get your coat at the end of the night. All whilst the bouncers wont let you use the restrooms. So you have to wait an hour waiting to go home, whilst desperately needing to pee.
I am very disappointed with my experience at q club tonight. The bouncer decided I was too drunk to come back into the club when in fact I had only had one drink. I love the music at q but the bald bouncer truly ruinedMy night. I have no desire to return to q after tonight. I am so angry and upset at the way I have been treated. I hope you fire him. Thank you.
Shortly after just 10pm it had a "1 out, 1 in" policy which we were told of by a bouncer walking down the queue. So yeah its great if you want to just Q all night.
Best club in Reading without a doubt! Quality music in 2 rooms, great priced drinks & friendly staff! Definitely recommend on a night out in Reading :)
