Pyramids Motel - in Harrismith, South Africa
Very friendly and helful staff. Felt welcomed from we arrived untill we left the next day. Will recommend them for a safe and relaxed stayover.
Good.needs covered car parking and covered grilling and relaxation space outside the chalets
I really enjoyed my stay good service at restaurant enjoyed the food however they unfortunately had no sugar free soda in stock. But we made it work. Will definitely stop there again good memories made
Perfect stopover point for our family trip! Very friendly staff and great service! Great place for the kids to play and run around after a long road trip. We will definitely be back! Absolutely love the pyramid theme!
We had the most pleasant one night stop over at Pyramid. A huge thank you to Fetsi. What a wonderful, pleasant and helpful person he was. A breath of fresh air after a stressful drive. The chalet was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The views were lovely. We will be back.
HiI would like to thank the guys at Pyramids motel. We was stuck in traffic for about 4 hours and my wife really needed to use the toilet and she is 5 months pregnant she really needed the toilet and we stopped at the motel and the guy at the front desk said at first his not allowed to do so but my wife been really in need to use the toilet and her been pregnant he said okay.We really appreciate the help that he had given us .Thanks
The photos on the website, unfortunately, seems very outdated. The place is not up kept as in the photos. David at reception is super friendly and spirited. The beds are lovely and firm. For business travel- the WiFi doesnt work outside the restaurant/reception area. The menu looks impressive but the food (dinnerwas horribly cooked. The breakfast was nice although the coffee was not so good at all. The view is beautiful and the price is very reasonable. Id recommend the place for short stays and if you are not fazed about food. The atmosphere is relaxing.
Enjoyed staying at Pyramids Hotel on our way to Durban..Beds were comfortable and the electronic blankets kept us warm. The view is gorgeous and service was great
Ive read the comments and can honestly not see the issues that people have commented on. Its a MOTEL with a twist. From enquiry, to booking, payment, checking in, dinner and breakfast....as a South African I had such a wonderful experience. I have never met such friendly and accommodating staff, from checkin, chef, cleaners etc.We had SATE and Chicken Schnitzel for dinner. Tasted delicious and homemade. Portions were huge. Price very reasonable. Then the sunset.....WOW WOW WOW! this is a must for anyone traveling to or from Durban.Laying in bed, the tri angles in the room takes you on a journey....great architectural design and use of space. We will be back, the friendly staff makes it all worth while.Thank you for the experience.
The place was clean and tidy. Very enjoyable experience.
Felt very welcome from the minute we walked into reception. Booked in quickly. Beautiful well equipped very romantic looking room Very comfortable bed, clean room and bathroom I must admit I would prefer a door in the toilet. Nice coffee station and fridge Stunning!! views from the balcony Very scrumptious breakfast Did not have dinner, but I am sure it would be just as nice Had it with previous visits Although there are no covered parking, it felt saveThe VERY BEST halway stay over to and from KZN
Great place to stop over and recharge after a long day on the road.
David at reception very friendlyPetsi in the bar/restaurant very friendlyThe food was delicious and the rooms goodThe fire in the restaurant was pleasant
The rooms are idyllic and cute. Perfectly situated halfway to Durban. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay but learnt to rather get takeaways from the Bergview one stop than to try the restaurant here. Theres definitely room for improvement but still was a great experience.
My husband and I stayed here for a night on our way to the coast for a holiday. The experience is one you wont have many times in your life. The rooms are extremely unique and the view is amazing. However, Id recommend buying some takeout from Bergview instead of going to the restaurant. There is room for improvement, but the experience is worth it!
Best stay over on the way to Durban. Friendliest staff. Prices very reasonable and the rooms are clean and tidy the showers could use an upgrade
We enjoyed the weekend we spent there. It was very hot. You need to watch out in the bathroom, the roof is pretty low on the sides. Perfect for a stop over. Even though you so close to the high way, its relatively quiet when you close the door.
The day we checked it was raining constantly. Which was a really bad idea. When we got to the room, something was leaking in the bathroomSo got taken to another room, which was fine.We were taking out our bags in the pouring rain, my hubby got soaking wet!David the receptionist, tried helping us as much as he could. But it was really disappointing and a terrible experience.Wouldnt recommend if its raining!
It was the second time we stayed over at Pyramids. The chalets are nice apart from the bathroom which is a nightmare for tall people. The restaurant was a different matter alltogether. The reasons are:1. Prices are not the same as it is advertised on the website.2. Half the items on the menu was not available.3. Same with the drinks. Very limited choice and what was on the menu was not available.4. Service very slow despite only two tables.I have to add that poor David manned all stations alone and ran around trying his best to please everyone.Nice place to sleep over as long as you dont eat there.
Awesome place to stop between Durban and Johannesburg. The pyramid architecture is quirky and fun. Not expensive. Stunning views.
Nice and quiet after being on the road. Good food and comfortable accomodation.
I was unable to get a booking so stayed at Wyford farm however Sheila did recommend dinner at the Pyramids Motel, stunning views, had dinner at the bar in the restaurant, had the chicken schnitzel, was most enjoyable, great end to a good day, next time will book in and experience the accommodation with views to die for.
What a lovely spot between JOBURG and KZN. Stopped on our way back with our 8 month son. Brilliant staff , brilliant views.Place is well kept , clean , comfortable. Definitely will be part of our KZN trips in the future , thank you guys
They are quite accommodating if you have asthma. Stayed over only for one night but it was a great stay.
Good food at restaurant. Funky pyramid shaped units. Bathroom not functional for any one over 4 foot, but for the unusual experience still makes it worth the bit of struggle. Great sunset and sunrise photos and mountain views.
The pyramids is nothing fancy but we absolutely loved staying over on our way from JHB to KZN.It is very clean, the view is lovely, the water pressure in the shower is amazing and the restaurant is good but most of all the staff are super friendly and helpful. We decided to stop there because we thought it would be easier than driving straight to KZN with a newborn, now I think we will stop over every time. I would give them 6 stars if I could.
Very friendly staff. A very good stay. The restuarants food was so nice! We will definetly come again👌
Just remember Its a motel not hotel and you will not be dissapointed. We enjoyed our stay. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Delicious burgers and chips at restaurant. We will definitely make this our yearly halfway stop.
The staff are friendly, pleasant and very accommodating.Maintenance is sadly lacking. There was no evidence of Covid protocols visible in the rooms. Cottage no 13 had a gas leak emanating from hot water system. Could see no evidence of the unit being serviced or inspected. The bathrooms are totally impractical. I will unfortunately not return. The one star is driven by the gas leak. The staff alone would have earned 4 stars.
The chalets are very uncomfortable you cant even fit under the shower definitely wouldnt book that again. We upgraded to the cairo room which was alot better the staff are very friendly and accommodating thank you Precious you are a real asset to pyramids motel 🤗
Amazing view! Wonderful experience! Best service from their amazing friendly staff Kogotso is so accommodating and funny! Even received a special birthday add on to my breakfast 😍
Thank you for a great stay over. The accommodation...the friendly service on arrival...the food was great....all was in order and well presented. Thanks to all the staff at Pyrimad Motel.
Spent a night. Awkward bath shower arrangements, no tv and no aircon. Pricey for what it offers. I will not be back again. Linen was clean and beds were stiff. Housekeeping needs to check globes in lamps. Had 2 lamps not working.
For an overnight stop, it is perfect. The food was great, the rooms are nice and warm and the staff are very accommodating. The bathroom and the sleeping area is very simple but has everything you need.Very nice place.
Best thing about this place is the convenient location next to the highway on your way to or from Durban. Expect a little highway traffic noise at the same time. Can be a bit cramped and tall people will probably bump their heads inside the unit. Uniquely shaped pyramid domes is quite a sight to behold when you see it first time. Reception staff energetic and helpful. Beautiful Berg views when you wake up.
Great and friendly service.Well maintained accommodation.Great prices. Will definitely visit again. The morning fog was heavy today, but watching the lights on van reenens pas is a definite must.
Lovely personal experience. Definitely a special unique stay. Very cool place for a weekend, team building or quick stop between gauteng and Durban. Meal portions are very large and delicious. Service was top notch and personal. A real hidden gem of a place in the mountains.
Interesting place. Far away from fast food. I didnt try the restaurant and it was very quiet the night I stayed. Its nothing facing but its clean and peaceful. To put it in to perspective we were the only ones people sleeping there that nice, I couldnt see any security on site. The rooms were clean and there was satellite television, we had tea and coffee in the rooms aswell. The main issue occured when we had to leave early in the morning. I called all the phone numbers provided but we had been locked inside the compound until the start of business. Id recommend ensuring that u arrange an early check out should you need it and come with you own food ready to go. There is a braai so thats could assist you
We stayed at the pyramids motel 3 weeks ago. These are the negative points:1. Price R850. In comparison to many b n bs we’ve stayed at a fair price based on what you get should be R400.2. The entrance to the stairway to our “luxury” room was like a tradesman entrance of a factory. Dirty sliding door. Paint peeling off the stairs which incidentally are open to rain and are quite slippery as it rained while we were there.3. The electric blanket although a good idea was in a poor state. The three pin plug had wires exposed to about 2cm out the plug top where the outer insulation of the cable was missing. I’m sorry I didn’t photograph it.The plug when we entered the room was lying on the floor next to the bed.4. Covid protocol was lacking in part. Although there was a sign regarding mask wearing and a sanitising bottle was on the counter, one expects a temperature check at a hotel which was not done.5. The canteen (although we didn’t venture to eat therewas poor. It was like a truckers canteen. Can’t comment on the food but the tables and chairs looked dirty. The only redeeming quality was its half way location for an overnight stay between Johannesburg and KZN coast. But seriously find another place! There are many even if you need to go a few kms off the N3.
We stayed in the family unit. We had a super fun stopover. We had a "braai" and bought ice and charcoal briquettes from the office. The host even brought us fire lighters personally. The breakage deposit was also repaid fast and efficient. Thank you to the staff and owner who made are stay great.
Really awesome place to stay over on our way to the coast. Its clean, safe and cozy. The food was good. The kids love the triangle bath/shower.🤗 Although we could hear trucks in the distance on the highway, it was far enough away not to bother us. He had such a good rest.
Good place to sleep over on ones way to the coast. Clean comfortable rooms. I am quite tall: due to pyramid shaped chalets the entrance is a bit low and the bathroom a bit cramped. The tomato soup and Satay with peanut sauce is excellent. Have stopped over here 4 times and will do so again.
We overnight in the Arabia styled facility and enjoyed it very much. Spacious and interesting. The friendly staff really went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Dinner served was excellent. The area was well secured.
Very nice and quaint place to stay for the night on route to or from the coast, chalet design is cool and space is well utilized. Just be mindful that its close to the highway and at night youll hear truck brakes often. Didnt bother me much. The morning view is beautiful and so is the area. All the staff from check-in to breakfast and departure were very friendly and made the stay enjoyable. Well done Pyramids team
Good for stop over. Room was different but clean and neat. The bath/shower is awkward for people who are not very mobile. The restaurant served decent food and you were able to get what you wanted. Helpful and friendly staff
Comfortable, spacious and peaceful accommodation in the 3 rooms at the top. Friendly helpfull staff. Food in the restaurant is basic but freshly prepared and very tasty. Excellent stop over midway between Johannesburg and Durban.
Just what you need from an overnight stop. Nice shower, good food and a comfortable bed. I like the fact that the units are so far apart to prevent the sound from neighboring rooms bothering you. No TV, but lets be honest how often do you really enjoy those grainy pictures in places like this in the age of carrying your own screens. Dont try and let four adults sleep in one chalet unless you are really comfortable with each other, it is more suited for a family of four. Restaurant only open in the evenings between 18:00 and 20:00, so dont arrive too late if you are planning to eat there.
Real Value for money. R250/p/n where do you get accommodation that cheap.Perfect for overnight. Breakfast is excellent with freshly screezed orange juice and fresh filter coffee and bacon, eggs, jams and toast or an omlette. Bathrooms are rather small as you need to bend sometimes. But overall my stay there was very pleasant. I will be back.
Good value for money, food and staff are great. Although the rooms were clean (appreciated), they can be described as "uncomfortable"... Youll twist and turn into some awkward positions specifically in the bathroom because of the roof shape.
This was a lovely little stop-over, the rooms are clean and comfortable. We had electric blankets, instant coffee and tea available and wonderful staff. Will definitely be using them again I the future.
