Pyramid Cafe - Mediterranean restaurant in Los Alamos, United States
It was good to have a break from New Mexican style food. The fries on the Gyro plate were delicious as was the pita and ziziki sauce. The lamb and beef slices were however a little bland. Im used to more flavorful meat. Service was good, prices were decent.
Great food and incredible service! We tried the lamb stew and chicken soup with our kebab meals. I had one chicken and one gyro - both were fantastic! It was very apparent they were short on staff but the only waiter was hauling and making sure everyone was served and got refills on drinks when needed! He was incredibly friendly and acted very calm despite the situation he was in. I should mention they may have been short staffed since their credit card machine was down on our visit so they were only taking people who could pay with cash. We will definitely be back for pick up or sit down once we move to the area!
Great meal of lamb shank. The dinner was so good that I couldnt wait to eat the leftovers for breakfast.
The food is excellent and service is very good and friendly. I will definitely be back.
90 percent of the time its a good place to eat but this time. Rice was dry and for two of us we got very little rice to begin with. Im hoping this is a one off experience.
Went in on a sunday for a early dinner. Whoever the the girl greeting out party of 5 was, she was pretty rude. When returning dropping the menus on the table and walked away. Before even ordering drinks out party decided to leave based on the customer service to this point
My husband and I really enjoyed our food here. We had hummus, chicken and gyro sandwiches, and baklava and it was all so amazing. Definitely check this place out
Delicious! I had the beef marga, which was seasoned well but with subtle and delicate flavors, as was the falafel my friend had. I didnt expect to find this in a small New Mexico town (Los Alamos). I hope they have great success.
The food was excellent. The service could improve a little bit.
Ordered ahead so we had time for a sit-down lunch. Fabulous food and service.
Great food. Got 3 of the appetizer options, the gyro kebabs, and lamb stew. All tasted great. Was surprised there werent more people, although it was close to closing and a decent number were picking up takeout. Will definitely eat here again.
Best place for takeout in Los Alamos and nice for dining in, too. You cant go wrong with their falafel, its consistently good. Gyro and chicken are great, too. Their pita is fresh and delicious. The fries are good, especially dipped in tzatziki sauce. Prices are very reasonable for falafel and sandwiches.
We visited for our first time for lunch today. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. With a party of 4, 2 of us had Cheese steak gyros, a Falafel plate and a Mediterranean plate. Best falafel weve had and everything else was spot on. Well definitely be back when in the area next time.
Pyramid Cafe is one of our local favorites. The food is always fresh and delicious! Online ordering is so easy and curbside pickup makes it easy and Covid-safe. The baklava is incredible, save room for a piece!
Hidden gem here in Los Alamos. Food is always good and reasonably priced. Might not be as good as what youd get in a big city but it certainly does the job.
First time eating here. Friendly staff, prices are good. The stuffed sopapilla was really good. The guy who took our order says the burgers are where its really at! Gonna try that next time.
Our dining experience was terrific. From the service to the flavor of the food. The hummus appetizer was delicious. And the baklava for dessert was excellent.
What an enjoyable meal .....Great food and friendly staff add the best Falafel weve had in this state for sure....We dont live anywhere close to this restaurant but we still will make it a regular stop
Was hesitant about going in as the location and storefront looked concerning. Interior okay. Food was excellent (Chicken Tagine, Gyro plate, Gyro Kabobs, Spanakopita), good price. Way more food than we could eat. Good service.
Food was mediocre at best. The restaurant was disheveled and didnt seem clean. There are precious few dining options in Los Alamos.
We love Pyramid. My kids love the pita and hummus, my husband gets the philly cheese steak gyro and I like the combo plate. I order online and its always ready when I go to pick up and packaged well for pick up.
I love Pyramid. Great prices, great food. I usually get one of the sandwiches. Gyro sandwich, shawarma sandwich, falafel sandwich. Theyre all really good. I order online and pick it up. People that work there are really chill and nice.
Ordered a Greek salad, hard to mess up. Normally it’s tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, Kalamata olives, feta and a vinegarette dressing. Some places put lettuce in it, not ideal but expected. I got my to go salad, left my money at the register because they had one table but were too busy to actually talk to me, got it, everywhere is short staffed, no biggie. What was disappointing is that when I got home and opened it up, it had 1, just 1, lonely little olive sitting on the salad. I cut the lone olive in half and split it with my husband. Just kinda wonder why they even bothered with the one olive? Maybe everything else is good there, but don’t bother with the Greek salad.
Good food. The menu wasnt huge but thats just how restaurants have to operate nowadays. I had beef marga - loved it, would order again, if they only were closer to where I live.
This was my first time going here. The customer service was fantastic! It was pretty quick. ( 15 to 20 minutesThe price for amount of food is so right. Their hummus is Devine. The spanakopita was literally one of the best things Ive ever put in my mouth. Seriously so good. I had the Spanakopita plate ( comes with a big saladand it was enough for two people and only 10 dollars. My friend got the Mediterranean plate and that was enough for 2 people at 10 dollars. The reason they get a four star is because their system to let someone know when their food is ready can be improved. They only asked for my name and being that I had never been there I said to myself, I guess Ill just go in and see if its ready. And then I got the pomegranate iced tea and it tasted like pomegranate syrup. I did not taste the tea and it was so sour. It was awful. I ended up not drinking it. Then my friend got a rootbeer and it was a soda can that was warm. So they could improve that for sure. Their food is so yummy though! At least what we tried.
Consistently delicious. Two-three meals per plate! Appetizers are excellent. A reliable favorite. Good value, sanitary and safe. Something on the menu for everyone. Will you go local and give them a try?
The beef marga was exceptional. Reminded me of my time living in Africa. Kid #1 got a Philly cheese steak gyro which made me raise my eyebrow but she inhaled it so fast it must have been pretty tasty. #2 went for the shrimp pasta. Eyes were big stomach wasnt but mom was sneaking bites so there you go
The Pyramid Cafe. In my personal opinion it is one of the best (betterplaces in Los Alamos NM. Not perfect, but considering where we are and what the alternatives are, they are doing a great job... at least most of the time.Their food is consistently great. I have been there at least 5 times now, and was satisfied with the meals every single time. They are a bit overpriced (I mean the value - price ratio a perhaps a bit off), but we are in Los Alamos, so its understandable. However, they tend to over-deepfry everything, so I would avoid those dishes...If you get here during peak hours, be prepared to wait, because service can and will be slow. Their staff is good. However, I got overcharged one time, even after asking back twice if my server/chasier was certain in the price.Altogether I can recommend them for visit. Stop by and grab some delicious Mediterranean meals, you wont be (toodisappointed.
This is a nice restaurant with an unusual menu. The server did a good job describing the items on the menu for which I was not familiar. I landed on the African beef curry. Loved it, the mixture of flavors was delicious.
Best spot for lunch! Their gyro and hummus platter were one of the best I have had across the US! The Turkish coffee! Great way to end my meal and get my energy up!
We had the florentine chicken. The chicken was tough, but the sauce and spices were good. They were out of lemonade, and root beerwas out of a bottle over ice. The baklava was good, but the whipped cream was probably out of a can. The food is too pricey.
I used to live near Tarpon Springs in Florida, which is the largest Greek immigrant community in the US. They have some of the best Mediterranean food anywhere. Pyramid Cafe reminded me very much of some of the restaurants I miss. Prices were reasonable and the food was excellent and authentically prepared. The ingredients were fresh The meat was tender and very flavorful. The lemonade is light and refreshing, not like typical American lemonade that is so sugary that it leaves you thirsty.
I love this little hole in the wall. The Greek food is so delicious. You can order all that you would expect from a Greek restaurant. The prices are not too steep. The ambiance is a bit subdued/bare, but overall things here are really nice. The salad is particularly nice, and I always enjoy the gyros.
Consistently great place to eat. They have a good variety of drink and food options that you, cant get at most restaurants. Service always seems to be good here too. The gyros are for sire a thing to try.
This place is incredibly good the food is super tasty and just cooked the most perfect Ive ever seen. I got the shrimp pasta and it was so good I cant even describe it like the way it was cooked everything on all e plates we got was perfectly cooked the chef here is very very impressive.mom got chicken florentine she loved it as well and shes pretty picky with food my girl got the lamb leg plate and it was perfect i stole from her food and the mashed potatoes were perfectly made and tasted awsome.its a little pricey but totally think its worth it. If u around here and need somewhere to get food go here wont disappoint.
Good food, horrible service. Waiter ignored allergy, brought out starters (soups and saladway after the main course. He kept coming back to ask if wed gotten things yet despite being the only one serving us.
This is some of the worst service I’ve ever recieved. Not only did the waiters/waitresses have no idea how to explain the menu, the wait was awful and we ended up having to hand-deliver our payment to the kitchen because we waited for over 15 minutes (last customers thereand nobody came to pick it up. My Gyro was alright, my friend’s Beef Marga was slightly above average. The saving graces here were the delicious Turkish coffee and side salad that came with my gyro lol.
The food can be hit or miss in quality. I live the plate that is a combination of hummus and other things, (cant remember the name ). The ambiance leaves a lot to be desired. But it is Mediterranean food in Los Alamos, and Im glad theyre there.
The food here is spectacular, and the owner is a first-rate human being. I love their gyros, but if youre not a fan of lamb or chicken, try the Philly cheese steak gyro -- fantastic! The only negative is that they need more servers, so when they get busy, the service degrades (as one would expect). They also have trouble getting my order right; it comes out wrong almost every time, though it is admittedly a highly customized order.Despite those minor inconveniences, we love coming here, and we do so as often as we can. Highly recommended!
Fast service and gyros were tasty, well seasoned and tender. Affordable. I wish Id gotten more tzatziki sauce and it looks like the interior could use remodeled or super deep cleaned. Bathroom was less than stellarly clean.
I had an excellent meal here, and even had the opportunity to meet the father of the owner of this restaurant! The lamb gyro (with extra lamb and tzatziki was deliciously spiced. I enjoyed fresh mint tea, and even though the Friday night time crowd kept the waiting staff very busy, I never felt neglected, or overlooked. I would definitely recommend giving this restaurant a try, although if you come at a dinner time please be patient with wait staff, as it can be very busy.
Really good food for being in Los Alamos. I always get the gyro with double meat and end up having too much to eat. I would recommend splitting the mixed grill if you are with another person. Works out to be $10 a plate but you can end up paying the typical $20, food and top, if you get anything else.
I have no idea how this place is rated so well. Maybe we just went there on a bad night. We got the dalmas and hummus for an appetizer and while the hummus was fine, the dalmas was swimming in dressing that overpowered any other flavor. I got the chicken tagine which tasted ok, however the chicken was well overcooked. The "basmati" rice was overcooked (or maybe undercooked, hard to telland lots of crunchy pieces. It didnt even taste or smell like basmati and looked like short grain rice. The waitress forgot my salad and when I asked for it she said ok but I never received it. Once we were done eating she didnt even ask if we wanted anything else (like something to make up for the missed salad), and simply handed us the check and walked away. This place would definitely not last in a normal town, and honestly is probably the worst experience at any Greek restaurant Ive had.
Gyros are amazing. Well made sauces. Hummus was great as well!Update: Had bad fries here last time, they were great this time around. Maybe just bad luck!Great food.
Lunch review. Food was excellent and prompt. Tasty and a decent value for the price. Would have been 5 stars except the service was a little off. Slow, inattentive, mistakes with order. Big hit with the locals so you know they have a great track record. Maybe it was an off day.
My father and I have been coming here for years and weve always been fans. My husband agrees and hes been coming to this and their Santa Fe location for ages as well. Yes, off days happen but its quite rare. Ive never had a dish here that Ive disliked. The service is always fantastic and the crew (wait staff & cooksare wonderful folks. Make sure you get a cup of Turkish coffee & some homemade baklava before you leave.
One of the few "good" restaurants in Los Alamos. Food is consistently good. Sometimes great. The gyro meat is some of the best Ive ever had. There is beer and wine, not a huge selection, but certainly adequate. Service is always solid, and usually great. Definitely one of the few, good restaurants in Los Alamos.
This is our favorite local restaurant. Not too fancy, but decent prices, and good food, with a fun atmosphere. On Thursday nights they sometimes have a guitarist performing, who does a great job. We love to go and listen.
My husband and I stopped here on our honeymoon, and it was by far the best food we had the entire trip, and definitely wasnt the most expensive place either. Very solidly good food, good portions, good service, and very reasonable prices. Their hummus is amazing. Highly recommend their dolmas as an appetizer, and I got some sort of pita sandwich which was awesome. We had halvah for dessert, which was also lovely.
It is easily the best dining experience I have had at a Mediterranean restaurant. Trad Jazz over the speakers, a top-notch waiter, good lentil soup, the best pita Ive ever tasted, and the best Chicken Florentine Ive ever seen or tasted.Ive also been there 2 other times. Once with a large group, and another time by myself. Ive had the Lamb Tagine and the Gyro Combo. The Turkish/Greek Coffee was very good too. Dolmas are a good staple there and well done.Nothing I have had there is disappointing to me.
