Pyra Bar - Polish restaurant in Gdansk, Poland
Had a light lunch and beer. It was excellent. No table service but order inside. The food was delicious. We always try to eat away from the main street of any city and the Pyra bar deserves you making the effort just 5 minutes off the Old Market.
Really amazing place where you can try different many dishes with potato, in this ocasión I tried this one with bacon and it was simple amazing.
Soooo tasty, cheap and big portions too. Great for veggie options but my eyes were way too big for my stomach! The main gratin dish was my favourite 😍
Great food and very nice people, beautiful place to eat.
Lots of choices. Quick service. Food Ok but more like a fast food than nice meal. Quite salty.
Potatoes every way you could imagine. The staff is friendly. Prices are affordable. You order at counter and they bring your food to you. When done you clean off your table and put your dishes in the kitchen window. The menu has allergen details which is always appreciated. Unfortunately there were very few dairy free options and the one i choose- Ratataj, Ratatouille- had more flavor/seasoning. The cheesy bowls/dishes were the favorite at the table.
Overall, pretty good quality for its price at the old town. I really enjoyed "Skurczysyn" (baked potatoes and chicken in a bowl). Most of the items on the menu are quite mild, so its suitable for children. For people travelling by car, I suggest parking in Galeria Forum, and go there by foot. Well deserved 5/5!
Really good pyra place which means potato place, I had potato cake (meat and potatoand a beer all cost just 45sloty about 9€. First you should choose a table and go to desk to make order pay then they serve you on your table.
Potatoheaven! Nice pickels too. We had the potstocasserole and potatopancake, very tasty great service:-)
Good and inexpensive food and friendly service. Also a great location on a street corner in the heart of old Gdansk.
This is a very local type of restaurant and part of a chain. You que at a the counter to place your order and the food is brought to your table. Its all about Potatoes though - Baked, chopped, boiled and in huge portions without frills (do not expect micro greens). Food is just lovely home cooked basic affair. This is the second visit to this chain in a week and knew what to expect- I had jacket potato and cottage cheese salad. It weighed about a kilo - two huge potatoes, baked to crispy and a huge pile of cottage cheese (mixed with onions).I ordered a salad to lighten the load but this was a bowl of coleslaw. You can order home made chips (friesbut they were huge.We ordered a Casserole again a huge bowl of potatoes with broccoli and chicken. Really nice home comforting food. The ordering can take a while so not the quickest place to eat.
Lights out, seriously the best meal we ate in Gdańsk. Highly recommend!!
Nice place where you can quench your thirst a hot summer day!🍻
I wanted to try Pyra.2 times actually. But we were absolutelly ignored 2 times. Nobody even gave us menu. 20 minutes or pure nothing. Even though I made an eye contact with various waitors. NothingThanks for wasting my time
Straight after my arrival to Gdansk I chose to eat at this bar because of the good referrences here in Google. Unfortunatelly , after 30 minutes of waiting for the waitress to come I have decided to leave and eat at another place. Anyway, despite of this bad experience I came back to give them another chance but this same ignorance happened to me again. Never again! I felt like I am invisible. The waitress hasnt even looked at me.
Great value. Delicious food.
Delicious food, simple atmosphere, location near the majority of downtown must see sights, not too costly, large portions. Menu includes Polish dishes from potato.Quick and friendly service. For 50 zloty in total per person youll be full. I would definitely recommend the Pyra Bar for having a dinner.
All dishes are potato based which is the main concept. Placki ziemniaki was crispy and good, the rest were okay
We had a delicious casserole for a good price, we recommend going there!
Food is veryvery delicious. But I would reccomend to take small portion, its huge. They serve dishes only from potatoes. Potatoes slices, called Talary pyrowe was very delicious.Second time we visited and tried OCB, ir was potatoe parts with sauce served next to it. Also tried Baba od rzeznika, very good potatoe pie with chicken meat inside and mouth melting sauce with mushrooms. !Btw. Very good toilet. They have baby diaper changing table, with Wet napkins and even sanitary pads and hygiene things for women.
We are dinner here. Awesome potato based dishes from all over poland! Very tasty and decently priced. The portions were really filling.
The place to go for Polish food. Everything was delicious and came super fast. The service was great. The plates were huge and full of food, so one dish per person is more than enough.
Great location! Great prices! Great dishes!
Amazing potato place, super generous portions. Tried the dumplings, casserolles and baked potatoes, all of them amazing and supet saucy and filling. Try the casserole with dry mushrooms, sausage, cream and cheese it is awesome.
It was great. The potato pancakes and fries where great. We also had their Greek salad it was excellent!!
The food and hot pear cider here are so good! It is amazing all the wonderful things they make with potatoes. The potato slices were also delicious with tzatziki. My main dish was potato pancakes with salmon and lemon and dill cream. Excellent! My partner had potato dumplings with sauerkraut and sausage, which was also excellent. They had English speaking staff and an English menu when we went there for dinner which was very helpful. Dont forget to clear your own dishes before you go.
Great food very cheap and friendly staff can recommend
Amazing experience! It was my first time eating polish food. We had the "Baba od rzeźnika", "Pyranek" and homemade fries.I would highly recommend the "Baba od rzeźnika"!! It was delicious! The second time we went here, we had Poprosię and Piwo (hot beer with orange and cloves)! Piwo was surprisingly great! its like the beer version of mulled wine.Ambience was great too, with soft music in the background.
Its was OK buy Nothing much. Kind service the price was OK.
It’s a pretty nice place to have typical polish potatoes stuff. We tried the potato dumplings and potato pancakes, I pretty like the pancakes. It’s fine food (but not amazingwith reasonable price, nothing to complain.
Great food, high class for good prices. Place is filled with funny potato word plays and pop culture references, if you understand Polish that is :). They even have a potato themed colouring picture, thought of everything...
Excellent choice of polish potato casseroles and soups.Cafe/bar atmosphere, staff very helpful and friendly.
Amazing food, really good and filling, lovely service, highly recommend
Great selection of potato courses and soups. Traditional Polish (and generally Slavicrecipes. Original compote. Definitely a place for potato lovers. Trendy.
We were waiting for free table for a half hour, in beer pub neaeby and it was totally worth it. It self serving place, when you make order. I taste this great potato pancakes with cold tuna sauce. Very tasty and rich portion for good price.
The food was tasty and the lunch menu is a good deal. The ambiance is not the best, but for the price and location, its worth it
Food made with love - check potato pancakes, homemade chips, chicken salad, beer on tap. Jack potatoes not as it should be but its do not affects this place magic;cheap, tasty food in the heart of Gdansk oldtown.
Big portions & small prices, really tasty ! Good atmosphere and stuff
The staff was nice to explain to us that this is a self-service restaurant. Free seating, all menus are on the counter top, English menus available. Once you’re ready to order just proceed to the counter and place you orders to the staff. Food is prepared upon ordering and thus everything is freshly prepared and piping hot! Their pancakes and casseroles are amazing! Portion of the food is great! Once finished, remember to clear your own table and bring the dishes back to the kitchen. Toilet is clean and nice. The whole place is extremely clean and so cozy! Would love to come back again soon!
Authentic polish restaurant on the old town. Quite cheap where everything has potatoes as ingredient. Everything that I have tried its really tasty and if you are student, they will make you a discount if you show them the student card. I really enjoyed the Grandma punch (that is even cheaper than water).
Would have given it 5 stars had it not been for the jacket potatoes that I found to be a little bland - you can chalk that up to my general affinity for spicier and more flavorful food. The casserole was amazing and I wish we had ordered more instead of the fries. I think polish food tends to have less salt so I used more table salt than I have previously ever used at a restaurant. Would def come back now that I know what to order.
This is the first place where i grabbed food during my first ever visit to Gdańsk. Naturally, i found this place from the internet for its rather positive reviews and cheap prices. I went there on a sunny day and it was packed. They had menus in English available and they mentioned that the waiting time is about 45 minutes - that was no problem as there is no waiting time for beer. Halfway through the beer the food already arrived which means it only took about 15 minutes - a positive surprise. The food was also good - i took a salmon casserole (if you can call it a casserolethat had cold-smoked salmon in it, which was a bit weird to get used to, but still great. Prices were really good and i would definitely go there again.
Excellent potato based dishes. Ridiculously cheap but delicious! Definitely worth trying if you like potatoes :)Seems very popular with locals. Always a good sign.Oh and English menus are available. Just ask one of the very friendly staff.
Yummy! Traditional Polish food based on potatoes! The interior is amazing! Modernised Polish 80s style (communism times). Very affordable and big portions, nice selection of drinks. Located in the old town, close to the Shakespeare’s theatre. It’s a self service place, you sit at the table where you get the menu and you have to go to the counter to order food and tell them your table number. They bring food to your table. You can tell that the food is fresh and cooked while you wait. You can also pay by card 👍🏻 totally recommend!
Good variety of potato based dishes - one of a few truly vegetarian friendly places in the area! There is a nice beer garden in front of the restaurant however as the place is fully capable of providing a full table service for the customers - the self ordering at the cointer rule seems a little lazy and inconvenient. The dishes come in two sizes though which is a plus, a singe bathroom can be a pain on the busy days as a long queue can form.
Lovely place for affordable and healthy eating. Must go place if you wanna try authentic polish food.
Pyra bar is amazing. Plain and simple. Amazing polish food, with so much to try. Definitely try the potato pancakes and the chicken salad. So cheap to and right next to the main street. We went two days in row in our stay and Gdansk and loved everything!
We tried this place on recommendation of a local and its definitely worth a visit. Collect your menu from the bar, then once you have decided go back and place your order at the bar - easy. Food is brought to the table. All the dishes are potato based. The food was tasty, portions are generous with good value for money.
A modern version of the traditional polish milk bars. This is heaven for potatoes lovers (even if you´re not), as this is main ingredient of the dishes offered in the menu. The portions of food are great, tasty and is not expensive, perfect combination for a good lunch. It can be confusing how to order or get a table for the first time as there are no waiters/waitresses, so grab a menu, choose a table and then order at the bar. Dont be shy on asking to share a table if the place is crowded, thats typical in polish bars.
This place was a great surprise! Fantastic traditional Polish food with a focus of potato based dishes. Good prices as well. You really need to try this place!
