Purple Turnip - Restaurant in Cleburne, United States
Cute place. The food was pretty good but I had hoped for more. Next time Ill give the pies a try. Would benefit to have a kid menu.
I think this place has a lot of potential. Excellent service nice little place. From what I hear it has been around a while. Food options sound wonderful but were lacking flavor. Thinking maybe they just got comfortable. Would like to try another day and see if its better but wasnt impressed with the food the day I went.
Sampler was a good choice I love chicken salad, quiche was tasty and nice size bread stick. Also Included the best tomatoes basil soup ever. Looking forward to our next visit.
I wanted to let you all know about the passing of Alicia Youngblood we lost her on July 4th 2021
Nice place sweet people .. enjoyed visit .. Good food ..Interesting menu ..priced about same as most !
This place is so good. I am always taken care of quick and the most recent dish I tried was the Salmon Burger which was delicious. Their fruit is always fresh and it is all around a nice place. Thank you for the delicious food and great service.
Very nice small home feel. Priced a little high but it makes up for it with atmosphere. Try at least once.
Food was not as great, a bit bland.
We needed lunch while waiting for a prescription at the nearby CVS. The Purple Turnip was the perfect spot! Good, fresh foods, reasonably sized servings. I had the tomato, mushroom & spinach quiche with fresh fruit. My husband had the chicken salad & 1/2 quiche with chicken soup. All very good.
Never got seated. Waited about 10 minutes while waitress "cleared a table". Not very friendly.
First time in!The waitress was awesome. Walked me through the menu and pointed out her personal favorite. The Bacon Tomato Mozzarella Sandwich. Great size sandwich, the potato salad was wonderful. The sandwich had a ton of mayo on it, which took away from the sandwich. The main diningroom feels really outdated.Overall a nice first visit. Looking around, portion sizes look big, staff is great, food is a good value, fast service. The place could use a bit of updating, the food could be elevated a bit in flavor. Not much competition in town, but they could do more to take advantage of offering a unique customer experience.Ill be back, if for no other reason to try the desserts. They seem to be the highlight.
We all Loved the Place .Cozy and delicious .
Tortellini in pesta was DELICIOUS! Large portion so I have enough for lunch tomorrow as well. And coconut cream pie for desert - SOOOOO yummy! Our server was so nice!
Perfect place for lunch. Love the quiche
I tried the Spaghetti out and the sauce is just any other place Ive been to...bland. leaving to 2 stars cause the portion size was decent. Probably can get 2 servings out of it.
Great little restaurant. Love their daily specials. Great service. Thank you!
Food was great, but the salad portion was extremely small for the price of the salad.
Super cute, quaint little cafe. Perfect for brunch or lunch with the girls. Food is delicious and fresh, with a small yet eccentric menu. They have homemade desserts that look heavenly. Waitress was friendly, and took good care of us. I definitely recommend!
Nice place. Decent food.A bit small...
Always good food and service! Ive been eating here for many years and its always consistently good.
I just wanted a salad for lunch. I chose the Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad. It had more chicken than salad but was very good. I ate every bite.
Very over priced for salad and sandwich. Wasn’t that great.
Pretty good food, nothing special, but for a small town with limited choices it was acceptable. Probably won’t return. Desserts looked good but I rarely have dessert so I couldn’t rate them.
Definitely my favorite place to eat when in Cleburne. The manger is so friendly, and the food is delicious.
I ordered 2 chocolate pies for a birthday celebration at 11:30 am. We picked up the pies at 11:00 am. When we picked up the pies they were frozen. I paid $65.50 for pies that were made yesterday and then frozen. I could have gone to HEB and gotten a frozen pie! Not only can I not serve the pies at the event, because they are frozen, the pies will not taste the same as a fresh pie, which is what I wanted. If I had been told that they were freezing the pies I would not have paid $65.50 for the pies. I would have ordered them from another restaurant. When I called and spoke to the manager she told me, "Well just wait another 30 minutes and they will be unfrozen." My event was not at 12:30 pm, my event was at 11:30 am.When I complained that I should not have to pay $65.50 for 2 frozen pies she said, "Well thats just the way we do it."I will never dine at this establishment again.
Had the California grilled chicken sandwich the chicken needed seasoning an it would have been great and the pasta salad noodles were cooked great just needed seasoning the coconut cream pie was awesome
Needs better service. Never got a refill on my coffee. Saw waitress 3x
This was my first visit here, and it did not disappoint. Lunch was excellent, and the staff was so nice! I will definitely be back.
Yum. Great little restaurant with limited, but excellent selection. I have not been disappointed with any dish they served.
One of our most favorite places to eat, service is always great & the food is always of great quality & delicious.
Always top quality food and service. the tomato soup is my favorite.
Delicious food. Super nice staff. If you like lamb, must try. Desserts are INCREDIBLE!! Bring your own bottle of wine, they will chill .
We were in town and received a recommendation for lunch from a local business owner. He was right on.I had the chicken fried steak sandwich with potato salad. The sandwich was great, the bbq sauce on it complimented the taste of the steak and onion roll. My wife had the Angel hair with marinara and meatballs. The marinara sauce was great, but the meatballs were outstanding. Tenders, flavorful, and moist. The Mississippi mud cake was almost like fudge, two ate it, but still had some to take home.We are not from this area, but will be back.
This is a nice date night restaurant. The staff are prompt to their patrons need but, not overly in your face like other eating exstablishments. The prices are correct with the goods and service they provide. Check hours before going. Reservations of a date. Remember to servers. So they do not become a revolving door for staff. Need better parking. That is why 4 stars. Yep you guessed it is a must visit.
Had a wonderful meal. One of the last nights for the dinner menu. Owner-chef was so nice!!
Weird Hours but totally worth it! Food is great and Pie is amazing! Great if you just want coffee and pie or if you want a beautiful meal.
It has potential to be amazing, but priced high for what is served and not as fine as would be portrayed.
The restaurant is nice. We went right after dinner opening and there were only a few other tables occupied. The menu is not a huge selection, but the dishes are varied. Be sure to check out the specials on the board or ask your server (they might forget to tell you)My wife and I decided to split a 10 oz Tenderloin and for a 6 dollar charge we both got sides. The steak was delicious, as were the sides. Small potatoes and asparagus. With the crab cakes appetizer, it was a perfectly sized meal and we had room for desert. My wife ordered the mud pie but they brought chocolate cream which went unnoticed for a few bites. They offered to give her a slice of mud pie to take home but she declined, and they comped her dessert.I had a piece of key lime pie which was delicious and a pretty good cup of coffee.Prices were reasonable considering the quality of the food. Service had some hiccups but made up for them gracefully.A nice evening overall and Im sure well be back soon. Ill bet they can get that last star out of me next time. ;-)
Wonderful surprise! Cozy, locally owned eatery with nice selection of food. No liquor license (yet?so BYOB.
Great food. Good service. Lunch prices are reasonable. Dinner is more expensive but I understand why. The food is made fresh to order and is homemade with great atmosphere.
Food is amazing, very nice mom and pop establishment. Very personal experience if you ever want to take a date out for a romantic Italian dinner. The pies are to die for as well... seriously... best pies EVER.Lunch is also great as they offer soups, salads, and amazing gourmet sandwiches. Highly recommend. Also very fair prices for the portions given.
Ive been here too many times to count. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, excellent service, and the food is wonderful. The Chicken Caesar Salad is to die for. No kidding. A must if visiting Cleburne for lunch. Not too terribly cheap, but worth every penny.
Great food great sevice, friendly staff. Best place for a date night.
The food is usually very good, the service rarely is. Decor needs help. Prices are a little high. Needs a thorough cleaning, its very small, so it really shouldnt take long. Strong competition in Granbury & Midlothian & worth the short drive!
The best chicken salad I have ever had!!! Ive been going here for years, and will keep going.
Wonderful hidden gem right off Henderson. The service was wonderful, staff was friendly and accommodating, food was delicious. I got the special lunch plate: cheese ravioli with shrimp, mushrooms, and a basil pesto sauce. It was a sizeable portion of food and it was so so tasty! Even my picky daughter was eating off my plate. I would have preferred if I didnt have to pick the tails off the shrimp but otherwise it was a very delicious, comforting plate of food. We will definitely be back here in the future :)
Excellent as usual. As good as any fine dining in Ft Worth at half the price. Cant recommend it enough.
Incredibly overpriced, but a good place to go for a date. I just wish they had live music. Jazz music there would be nice.
Fantastic every time we go the filet, rack of lamb are perfect ! Pies are great too! Everyone should try the place!
Purple Turnip gets a 5 STAR rating from me and my entire extended family! And, all my friends LOVE it! Whoever gave it a 1 star has to be another jealous restaurant... haha... EVERYONE knows PT is the very BEST in Cleburne... not only Cleburne, but they rival many restaurants in Fort Worth! LOVE Chef John, all the guys who help prepare and the sweet and efficient waitresses! KUDOS!!!!! :D <3
