1087 Rue Saint-Jean, Québec, QC G1R 1S3, Canada, Quebec
Traditional English tavern with a patio plus beer, scotch, pub grub & wide-ranging music events.
Amazing food , incredible atmosphere and unbelievable staff providing exceptional service. Had awesome live entertainment when we were there. Highly recommend!!
We had the wings and smoked meat nachos, and I had the Quebec cider. Everything was delicious and more than the two of us could finish. The live musician was excellent too, playing lots of fun covers and she had a powerful, beautiful voice.
Went in for a drink while we were in Quebec, the man who served us was not that helpful to start with, maybe because we spoke in English and not French but he did improve, beer was great , we didnt eat but the food going served around us looked good
Very nice ambience and a lovely place to grab a drink and have nice food. Would definitely recommend the chicken burger here.
Really good.Burger with candied apple was amazing AND wow, they have a small poutine option as opposed to the other brew pub I reviewed a few days ago. And that poutine was so good.
The sirloin steak and fries combo was awesome. Probably the best sirloin Ive ever had in a resturant. Fast service. Lots of beer choices. Fun place to eat.
Staff polite, working hard, focusing on customer satisfaction. Great selection of beers.
Chicken was great. But the music was too loud for dinner time and the service was only so so.
Stopped in for cocktails. Incredible beer selection. Nice staff.
Casual Wednesday night for food and drinks with friends. Walk in and got a table with no wait, place was 80% full, live music was good and not too loud. Food and drinks was good.
Nice English pub in a French city. Excellent display if scotch. Though I stuck with wine.
Decent food and drink, but an excellent intimate stage for evening music. Most evenings were acoustic pop covers. A pleasant way to spend an evening.
Philippe is the man.. Prompt, courteous and very knowledgeable.. Well worth the money to have a great experience. CHEERS from Halifax, Nova Scotia, 🇨🇦
Amazing servers, live music and sooooooooo many drunk options. Check it out, watch out the the bathroom was very warm.
Fast, very polite service. Food is reasonable, drinks menu is endless and sophisticated. A bit on overpriced side in my humble opinion. Still in post-Covid environment, great place to have family lunch or a good drink. Recommended!
The place is nice. The service isn’t that great, just the minimum, and the price are ridiculous. Large choice of beers. But come on …. 32$ for a chicken Caesar Salad ???? 65$ for a salad, a beer and a plate of fries ??? In which world are we living ! Come on owners !!! A salad is more expensive than a chili con carne or or grilled chicken ????
Nice restaurant for a night out. There was live music which made our dinner very pleasant. Food and drinks were very good. They treated us very kindly.
The best Poutine of my life! It was just delicious 😊 and they have a quite wide variety of beer as well. i recommend it 100% if you go to Quebec city.
Food was overpriced and quality was disappointing! One if us ordered nachos and they were burnt, I mentioned this to the server and she shrugged it off. I mentioned it a second time when I paid the over-priced bill and the server stated she would mention it to the cook.
Downtown of Montreal so great location. Personal is welcoming and knowlegeable. I had bone with marrow and it was delicious but if you are really hungry get something on side too.
Visited this pub on a weekend trip to Quebec City. The service was PATHETIC! Delayed orders and Burnt/Spoilt Food. The Server who serves at the Patio ( The one with a Man-bun), we literally had to ask him to serve water to us and the water never came even after we paid the bill-
Incredible lunch. Portobello burger was great. Atmosphere amazing. Server beyond incredible. A perfect lunch in Old Quebec!
Nice place. They have live music. Food is pretty good but not excellent. Nice service. In a touristy area so prices are high for value.
Great selection of beer; many pages of international imports. Our server was attentive, but our order was missed so we waited a while wondering what was going on. Could use better communication between staff.
Atmosphere was great.Sitting ouside was the right choice.Meat was little but salty for me, but overall, it was good:)
I had the Fish n Chips and I loved it. They also have live music.
This is an amazing place to visit in Quebec City. Friendly staff and tasty food.We had the the fish and chips as well as the cheeseburger and fries, both were perfect. I highly recommend visiting this pub.
First of all the good part: the singer performing during our dinner was great (she had an excellent voice). Now onto the bad news: burger was bland. The side salad had a flavour of yellow curry ( maybe to make up for the bland burger?). Regardless, it didn’t work. To try and save the meal I asked one of the two people that served us for the whisky menu (they advertise that they have over 50). Instead, got the drinks menu which listed 10 (a quick glance at the bar showed over 30 bottles on display). Really disappointed (I was debating a 2 star review. The singer saved them).
The Empress and I was looking for a place to settle down after a long walk in old Quebec city and stumbled upon this English pub. Took us 2min to get a table,we ordered the drinks and the wife was pretty hungry but I could see the serveurs he was very busy. So this young blond lady dressed in black saw me and came over the table(my guess the manager. And asked the I if I needed any help. She resolved the issue in a split second and Voila my love affair with the pub started right there.Malamore 🐙♥️PS. Make sure you keep that manager shes one in a million.
Great place to visit, live music, good food and quality house wine
Nice place. Bartenders are not the most attentive depends on whos shift it is. Theres music but its definitely not professional
The best ribs ! And all the food is great ! Definitely Ill back ! 💚
Food was excellent. Big portions. Great taste. A very nice atmosphire.
Excellent service, big selection of beers. The churros are to die for.
Fantastic nachos. They dont skip on the toppings which is great. Good service and great atmosphere.
Great pub food. Wonderful service. Lovely ambience. Love the songs they play.We ordered the pub chicken wings (so good), the fish and chips (yums), and the french onion soup (good). The fish and chips came with the soup of the day and a coffee/tea so its pretty good value. We also had a small LaMer IPA (love itand a diet coke. Plus churros for dessert (so so good). Bill came to $82 for all these (includes taxes and tips).Theres live music every afternoon/evening. Check the schedule to see whos performing.
Amazing ambience and customer service. Outside patio keeps you warm in the cold evenings. A little overpriced for what you get. Taste 6/10.Ordered Chicken wings (6 wings for almost $20 😂- wings were way to much crispy.Fish and chips - chips were delicious but fish was again very crispy with more batter and less fish. For VEGETARIAN we Ordered cheese platter - only order this if you love cheese and can eat a lot of raw cheese .In total experience was 8/10 and just because of hospitality. It may differ for you.
Very nice ambiance & excellent friendly service. The pub next to it is owned by the same person and the menu is slightly different. They had a wonderful singer sing while we were eating dinner. Had the steak. It was a little pricey but good. We sat outside on the patio but lots of tables inside as well.
This was one of the first restaurants my girlfriend and I stopped at for dinner while we visited Quebec City. We noticed they had churros, which was mainly why we went. We got a seat on the inside, and the aesthetic was lovely! Lots of wood, welcoming vibes. Loud, but most pubs are. We decided to order their massive nachos for dinner to share.Though the food was expensive, the nachos WERE pretty big. It fed both of us well, so ultimately we didn’t actually spend an astronomical amount of money once we split the bill. And I will say, the nachos were fantastic! Super juicy, with a really nice seasoning on all the chips. Like, they were REALLY good. If I go again, I’ll probably get the same thing. The churros were also really great too, and came with a nice chocolate pudding. I have no qualms with the food, other than the price - but that entire street is pretty expensive.Mainly, what made me not give 5 stars is the person who served us. He seemed like he did not want to be there, which… I get, since I’ve worked at cafés, but it was really obvious. When I asked for a water, he just turned and walked away without saying a word. He never really stopped by to ask how things were. It was very difficult to get his attention for the bill. It was busy the day we were there, but primarily he was inside the pub, and there weren’t many customers within with us. My girlfriend and I chuckled over how disinterested he seemed, but at some points he was even a bit rude - which tainted my experience a bit.So, all in all, would I go again? Maybe, but there are many other restaurants on the same street I’d rather go to. This pub IS very pricey, and we got better service (and more foodfor our money elsewhere. But I can’t say I hated it. I would definitely come with someone if they asked me to go there. It’s just not my top choice.
Small portions for what you’re paying, fish and chips were obviously frozen and reheated. Bland flavourless chicken on salad and wilted lettuce that’s clearly been sitting in the fridge for like a week. All the 5 star reviews are probably from people too drunk to care what they’re shovelling down their throat.
Went here to watch the Euro Cup finals. Fish and Chips were delicious. Beer menu was outstanding...tons of international beer options including dozens of hard to find Belgian beers.
Must try! This place has a very good vibes! Lovely service and great food with nice music around. Love it
We loved the atmosphere, service and food. Weve been served by Alain Mimeault, and he was pretty nice. The burger was not the best that we had though!
Relaxed pub atmosphere, Guinness on tap and live music. Menu had limited vegetarian options but everything was delicious. I will definitely return and recommend.
Everything thing looked good when we arrived. The bar atmosphere is nice. We placed our drink order then switched seats. This appeared to irritate our server, but he took our order and we didnt think much of it. When our appetizers arrived the cheese on the nachos was not melted and was missing the chicken we ordered. We ended up eating as us. Our server didnt check in on us not did he refresh our drinks. It took awhile to get our bill which was wrong and had to be fixed. Once paid we left and walked 150 feet to another pub where the service was much better. Will not return here
Its a historical place, so you need to go. Expect to be $10 for a pint of anything. Friendly service and lots of seating. The bar is very interesting to look at and has a good amount of seats too. It has two levels. The "vin chaud" or mulled wine was awesome. Came with a sugared rim and a kick of spice.
I stopped here last night for a night cap with my boyfriend. They were playing live music and the vibe was very warm- what you would expect from an English pub. The bartenders were very friendly and conversational! I highly recommend this spot for a fun night out!
Im a big fan of this pub. It can be busy, but it has good entertainment and cold beer. The food is pub quality, and is perfectly satisfying.
Great place to visit and eat. First time we went they had live music. I dont speak French and I found that they were very accommodating. They even asked if I wanted to practice French with them. Highly recommend. Loved it so much we went back a second time!
Pub St-Alexandre is typical British styled pub serving mostly typical fair. I went down during the lunch hour and was able to be immediately seated. I soon ordered up a smoked salmon salad and a local beer. Other reviews seem to remark on poor service but the multiple staff I encountered were all exceedingly friendly, accommodating and quick to bring me my meal. However this was on a weekday in the mid afternoon before the dinner crowed appeared. Either way if your passing by its certainly worth stopping in.
