Easygoing destination for draft beer, sports on TV & a variety of Irish & American pub standards.
It was ok, not bad, not great. Personally I found the music was too loud. So it sounded distorted.
This is an authentic Irish bar around downtown, in front, you can find a great hotel, and not too far others one that is very good. The staff are very nice and quick so is a great option to go in your lunchtime. The menu has few Irish item option my favorite is Cottage Pie a stewed blend of beef that brings carrots, onions, celery, peas, and Mahone gravy topped with mashed red potatoes you also have the option to add a side for 3 dollars, with I add the onions with was very good and big.I will recommend adding some hot sauce to the Cottage Pie to give it the extra touch and make it more delicious the meat was very juicy; the veggie was not that big with make it great and the mashed potato has made just perfect. If you in the area you need to get this plate, I am sure that you will not regret.
Opened at 11 on Sunday. Food was delicious. I had the breakfast burrito. Table mates chose the grilled cheese and lobster bisque. Lobster bisque was the winner, but all of our dishes were tasty. Table service was friendly and efficient. Around $13 for food choices. The three roll up doors are opened in warmer weather for that street dining experience. A good choice for all.
If I could leave a no-star review, I would. Both bartenders were rude and clearly did not want to be working. A group of friends and I went here for NYE + they made us all feel like an inconvenience for being in the bar. Rude, impersonal, and horrible service.
Went in for a drink and a meal, waited 10 minutes for a menu and 10 more to place a drink order. Then I was denied service because the waitress didn’t know what an NC drivers license looks like.
Poor service for a Wednesday night, the only waitress there then proceeded to not accept my out of state license OR my federally issued passport card as valid forms of ID for a drink I already had to wait 20+ minutes to order. Ended up leaving for another restaurant deserving of the business
I was surprised at the high quality food at Pub Mahone! Fish and Chips were to die for, beer battered and hot! The Thai-chili wings and reuben fritters were also delicious. Seems like a hole in the wall, but outstanding! Staff informed us that there would be a wait for our food and it was out much quicker than anticipated. Surprisingly good service for the short staffing. A must-stop in Columbus if you like good pub food!
Beer was great, fish sandwich was super tiny. You have to love fries.
Just stopped in with my husband for a quick drink while we were at the Pearl Market because it looked like a fun place. We sat at the bar, and though I only had a diet coke (it was noon), they had a nice selection of draught beers and the food looked good. Really nice bartender too! Id like to go back and try some of the menu items. Fun (and intriguingdecor inside!
Nice outdoor bar, decent menu, good service. Nothing extraordinary, but reliable and consistent. Lunch fish n chips is a good deal and tasty. It provided a nice break while downtown for farmers market.
Not that clean. I found some of the decoration blasphemous against Catholics. The menu I found uninteresting. An ok place for burgers and beer. The wait staff was, however, very able and attentive.
Service was hit and miss, went 20 minutes without a green ( or any other flavorbeer. Had to call over waitress a couple times. Atmosphere was good, food was good
Love the decor, food pretty good! We decided it would be enjoyable to play some Irish music on the juke box and the bartender started ranting about how we were ruining the night for her and other patrons. She was obviously intoxicated. So unfortunate to ruin an enjoyable evening!
Im all for supporting local buisness. The atmosphere is great, friendly staff and clean. The food is good quality ,but the flavor is just not my style.
The food was really good and fast. The atmosphere is perfect and when I was there they had a live band playing Irish music. It was great you did not have to yell to hear each other but you could clearly hear the music anywhere in the restaurant. Only complaint I could have was the dessert was.. just ok.
Great pub. Hit it up for West Ham games. Always good beer and food.
Unsatisfied with the food, not the service here.Came for lunch with a group of coworkers and was not impressed for the 2nd time with my meal. I ordered the entree fish and garlic parmesan chips and was suprised when I could barely taste either. The fish was hot and very meaty, but couldnt really taste the fish or the breading much at all. I HAD to use the tartar and mix it with hot sauce to get some flavor. I likely wont be back since prices are high (paid $14and flavor is lacking. The good news is that the server was very nice and tended to our group very well. He was friendly, and thats always a plus.
Went here for lunch on a long drive. The food was good, the waitress was really nice, and the decor was definitely interesting. My biggest complaint is that they WAY over cooked my burger (they did offer to fix it, but I was hungry enough that I didnt want to wait), all in all would definitely be willing to eat there again if I was in Columbus.
We had our office holiday party in the private room. The appetizers were delicious as was our food orders. We ordered in advance and everything was ready for us when we arrived. The service was excellent. I definitely recommend this place. It has An Irish pub atmosphere. Great atmosphere for sports and especially soccer with multiple big screen TVs. Nice to have this great pub in downtown Columbus.
I had breakfast the morning my plane landed and it began snowing as soon as I sat down. The bangers and mash breakfast was fantastic. The pub is close to a lot of downtown venues, the river walk and hotels.
Sunday Funday!!! Met the manager and his wife at Land Grant Brewery tour then came to Pub Mahone for dinner! Amazing food and service! We will definitely be back! Bartender was great although I forget his name:(
Best chicken dish Ive had in any restaurant! Gaelic Chicken! The Irish egg rolls are also amazing.
Its okay. When the wait staff seated us they made no mention of the lunch menu until we asked for it. Ordered onion rings and got no sauce (which the menu mentioneduntil we asked for it, and even then it was the wrong sauce. The food wasnt bad but it wasnt very tasty either.
We were only in Columbus for a few hours and we stopped in here to watch the Buckeyes game. Good specials ($10 for a pound of boneless wings & $11 bucket of domestic bottlesbut the parmesan fries were my favorite. Our server Josh was so friendly & helpful, he really made it a memorable experience!
Dinner at Pub Mahone tonight. The food is incredible. Irish Egg rolls and sliders are savory and the best I have ever had. Chef Derek made a great irish menu. Beautiful Irish Pub atmosphere. Will be back many times! Cant wait to try more
We went here on a lunch break, and while there was only one server he did pretty well for running and tending bar. My food came out well and was pretty delicious. At the end, for our wait (I assumewe were offered free cheesecakes so that made up for any extra wait time, in my opinion. The Irish music was going constantly, so you got that Irish pub-type feel the entire time.
I wanted something good and different to eat. I FOUND IT! A very special hidden gem.
Fish was great and Irish egg rolls are a must. Service was quick on a Saturday afternoon but the prices are not great for the food. The fish comes with one larger piece opposed to other pubs offering much more. The ceasar salad was disappointing. It was iceberg...not romaine; it had tomatoes, grated parm and no croutons. Strange and not worth the $7. Spent over $60 for four and 2 of us shared the meal. Too pricey for the food received.
Only one person working the entire place. Most of the apps and entrees were given to one person on the end of our table. And someone didnt get their entree because it was sitting on the opposite side of the table. Pretty terrible service. It was Sunday night but still very unacceptable. Food was ok. Decent pub grub. Apps were good.
Pretty good food but it took a long time to get even when there was hardly anyone in the place. I think I counted 17 people besides us and we had a small party. Not a lot to choose from on the menu they had more drinks then food to choose from.
Great place to stop for a drink! The staff was kind, the Guinness amazing, and atmosphere lively. I would definitely come back again.
I got the corned beef and cabbage. It was so good! Just like my Nana used to make. The place was really busy so make sure you have the time to spend. The wait was well worth it.
The food and atmosphere was both pretty darn good. Egg rolls, burger sliders and artichoke dip were all great! Food was hot and arrived to our table quicker than expected. Cheese bread sticks were also nice and hot!
Awesome happy hour, enjoyed the decor, service was friendly and fast. Nice outing with my co-worker, and the chicken leg appetizer was delicious, I was expecting wing drumettes they were actually chicken legs.
I walked there expecting what you usually get when you hear the word "pub" in the name of an Irish place, but this place was the real deal (as far as im able to say). The first person to greet me had what I assume is a Gaelic accent. She seated me and handed me a menu. The menu itself was pretty unique with heavy usage of corned beef and cabbage. I settled on their version of a Reuben, which by no means was bad, it just lacked the kick of a traditional Reuben as instead of pickled cabbage, regular was used. Theres a bar as well that some people were watching some early college games on but there were TVs throughout with games on. The staff was attentive and I never felt abandoned. I look forward to going back and trying our more of the menu.
Went on a OSU game night. Wasnt super crowded. Service was great and the food was good. Clean restrooms. You can eat inside or out on the patio. Open bar from patio. The interior is clean and the decorations are neat. Irish style food really takes me home.
Food was fine. Not really a drinker, but my friends said the drinks were good. They had a guy playing guitar, which was fine, but he was playing alt-pop songs like Creed and Green Day, and, I mean, if youre trying to be an Irish bar, how are you not having someone play Irish folk songs?
They need to work on their food big time it’s very pathetic, fries had a spoiled smell to them and cod (fish and chipswas one tiny piece which tasted previously frozen low quality, also tasted the Reuben worst of my life. Honestly to be downtown this place needs to step up their food big time. They need the food network there SO bad. Bar is alright and fair priced but food is a complete fail, it will not last with that low quality.
Rating is a 1 only because I cant give them a 0. Waited a fair amount of time to even have our order taken, than waited over 30 minutes with no food ever delivered and no one ever checking in with us. People arriving after us received their order a before us and we didnt order anything of difficulty or time...fish & chips and hash.
Irish pub theme downtown restaurant with full bar and good beer selection. Drink price is fair but a rocks pour is little more than a shot.Very loud when crowded as was the case when we visited. We heard music but I dont know if it was from a touch tune system or house system. We shared the buffalo chicken sandwich. The meat was dry and no blue cheese with it as it is usually served. Our bar neighbor enjoyed their Ruben on cabbage. The restaurant was out of our first choice appetizer, their distributors fault they said. There is only metered street parking (coin or credit cardand nearby pay lot.
I was told to check this place out. I’m honestly bummed out. I sat at the bar for a good 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged me. A guy came in shortly after and sat at the bar and ended up leaving because a good 15 minutes went by. Multiple employees walked by and I understand if you’re busy doing something else but a simple hello or hi I’ll be right with you goes a long way. I felt akward and like the male bartender didn’t want to be there. They had a great beer selection. Maybe next time.
Absolutely amazing atmosphere. I asked for a shot of Jameson. The bartender told me the owner was from Ireland and Im paraphrasing but she basically said "Ireland has way better whiskey". She gave me a shot of Tullamore Dew. Best whiskey I ever had. I was planning on having one shot and a couple beers. Had 4-5 shots and 1-2 beers.
Love this place, great atmosphere and even better service. I went there a couple times during this past winter for drinks and was treated very well. Now that the weather is better outside I am looking forward to checking out their patio and their famous meatloaf.
Service is excellent but food was very slow at lunch. 75 minutes from sit down to food being brought out, but boy it was worth it. Fries were great and crispy. Burger was cooked to perfection. If you get a Sibin burger, it will come with no sauce, but the Mahone sauce takes it up another level. Other members of my party got veggie pasta and said it was kind of plain, not much flavor. Fried Chicken Mahone sandwich got rave reviews from the rest of the party.
I loved the fish and was happy they were able to swap the chips for asparagus. My friend ordered fish tacos and enjoyed every bite. The waiter perfectly timed his check ins without hovering. We were excited to hear the Irish music and the fact that the musicians took non-irish requests was funny, although we both decided wed love to turn down the volume.
Food was mediocre. Fries and slaw were good but the fish was a bit greasy and undercooked. Prices are a bit steep too. The decore was nice and they had cricket on the TV (nice touch). Too many options in the area for better food. Cant speak about the drinks as I was there for a businessmans lunch.
Great new Irish pub in an excellent location. The food was tasty and the ambiance/decor was spot on Irish pub. The last night we were there, a representative from a whiskey company was offering samples.Cant wait until my next visit; my friends and I had such a great time.
This place is a hidden gem. Great service. Awesome beer selection and the food is always on point.
I went there for a drink so I looked on the table tent, that was literally a paper print out from a computer. They had a feature section for Tullamore Dew, with no prices listed. I got two Phoenixs and my bill was $66. If you are going to feature a drink on a cheap plastic table tent. You should ATLEAST put the price so people know what they are about to order. I will NEVER come back. I recommend you ask them for a price on a drink before you order it.
Very cool atmosphere! Loved the beer selection, the music was a little loud for me though. Other than that, great vibes coming from this place!
