Best place in town
Good place for people.
A beautiful small museum with stone carvings from the Angkor time. Its very nice that many of the artworks are explained in their meaning in English. Also the entry fee is only 1 dollar and it is just a nice stop in Battambang where you can spend around half an hour or more.
This is the first time that I brought my kids to visit Battambang museum. I like the way they preserve the ancient and historical items. They are very valuable. I think we should promote this to the world to know our nation. Happy weekend!
Nice view
Small but excellent collection. Hours a bit eratic: they close for lunch from 12 until 2, but dont always reopen on time. For example, i recently went there at 2:15, and they were still shut. They charge $1 to tourists who enter on their own. Theres no posted ticket price, nor paper tickets issued; instead theres just a donation box. However the second a foreigner walks in without a local guide, one of the staff members starts screeching "one dollar, one dollar" and they insist you give the money to the staff, rather than putting it in the donation box - i tried to put it in the donation box and they stopped me - so Im assuming that theyre probably just pocketing it (shrug).
Ive been to both the Angkor National Museum in Siem Reap and the Provincial Museum in Battambang. Although much smaller the Provincial Museum seems to offer more diversity and it seemed easier to take in the information. At just $1.00 admission it is kind of hard to go wrong here.
Just remember they closed 12 to 2 pm
The entrance fee is just 1 dollar. Muzeum is the must before you discover Battambang.
Small Museum but interesting to see.
Battambang Provincial Museum is placed in Kamkor village, Svay Por commune, Battambang district, Battambang Province, western of Cambodia Country. It shows about pre and Angkorian collection of pottery, statue, statuary, and musical instruments. You all can come to see anythings that are related to pre angkor time. Don be miss to visit all of statues. Like 1

We waited nearby for 1.5 hours for the museum to open up, it was Friday at 2:30 when we finally gave up. Everything was locked up, really a shame as we were looking forward to it.
Update - Actually its been quietly under restoration and reportedly going to be open to public mid January 2019.Therere many artifacts but its been left un-care for for years. No funding was the main reason!
Renovated Museum with a large collection of prehistorical artefacts found in several caves of Cambodia, pre Angkorian and Angkorian period objects (stones, figures, crafts, etc). It recently opened again after renovations. The information is detailed and available in Khmer and English. You are asked to leave a donation of $1 US at the entrance. The place has fans and an interactive map with the sites.
This place is super cool if you want to dive down into the history. It does not requires any entrance fee, but donation is appreciated. And you have to fill up your job and the date you come in into a book, and youre permitted to roam and enjoy the ancient history inside.
Very interesting local museum.
not so many things to see
Small and interesting museum about Angkor era where picture taking was not forbidden
Interesting place with lots of statues from different eras. I also saw Khmer style pots for the first time in this museum. The museum had also an interesting expedition of primal times with rock tools on display. The entry was cheap.4 stars!
I was there briefly yesterday. The museum IS open.
Should be the place you should visit in Battambang
Still under construction in October 2018.
Seem like some review are miss review and posting the image. Battambang is my home town and I do agree that we do not have valuable things to see, but it is a good place to discover and raise awareness for our younger generation to have more interesting on hhistroy... I will take some pictures when I pass my hometown again to show the correct place... but I could not promise to take inside pictures due to some restrictions...
What should i say, very disappointing... Museum is being built, so what you access is on the side, in an old building, no information, poor little things displayed whithout names... Really better to close it while waiting for the opening of the museum!
It is great place to learn the culture
quick price and good servise
This museum is under construction and is due for completion in a couple of months. What theyve done, until then, is simply shove all the exhibits into an old building. No order, no information. Lots of empty cabinets. Theyve even freshly damages some of the lintels. They could very easily put some information up but this feels in no way curated. We happened to know about the different Hindu and Buddhist pieces already but if you didnt have an appreciation of this before walking in you would feel totally lost. There is a big pile of junk taking up half of the exhibit space. Until they finish the main museum upgrade, dont bother with this place. Once the museum is finished, Im sure it will improve. The pieces they have displayed have a lot of potential to make an informative experience.
Not many people in Battambang have been to this museum. There are quite several things to learn and the environment around the museum is also relaxing.

Not so much to see, anywaway, they charge only a dollar, and its well worth preserving those pieces.
Small but fine museum. Not many objects to see.
