Prohodna Cave - Tourist attraction in Sliven, Bulgaria
Prohodna Cave in Sliven
Description
Privilege
If its on your route its well worth a visit. Not busy when I went. You can park very close and its a short but uneven walk
MoreNice place, but a lot of people during the weekend.
Amazing cave, you should visit it. Better to do it not on the weekends as it is a little crowded, because of the tourist. But if tou are not in a hurry you can wait for them to leave.
MoreIt was an amazing view! We were lucky to hear a lady singing a traditional Bulgarian song in the cave. Definitely an unusual experience!
MoreThe Prohodna cave is free to enter and can be seen in a day trip from Sofia, its near Sopot on the road to Ruse. Also, closer to Sofia, there is Saeva Dupka cave, head towards Brestnitsa and it’s signposted from the centre of the town. Both can be seen in a day trip from Sofia. If you are interested in some more natural water-based creations in the region, I would also recommend going to see the Devetaki cave and the Krushuna waterfalls near Lovech. I would add another day for that though.
MoreA nice place for a day trip from Bucharest. It wasnt to crowded. Its very good for a hike and for those who love climbing.
MoreIts on of the most popular caves in Bulgaria and yet there is no entrance fee and not too many people. Its stunning ,huge cave with a lot to see.
MoreImpressive cave! If youre on the way to Sofia, or close-by, or even coming from Devetaska cave, you should stop for a while here as well. Free of charge, parking on the grass, two-three souvenirs tables and an old dad selling his fruits - these can be found at the entrance. At one point you couldve done some bungee from one of the eyes, but in August there was none.
MoreAmazing experience very cool inside, definitely worth a visit. The expendables movie was made here 😊
MoreAmazing cave with 2 large entrances, 2 large openings in the ceiling and with many climbing routes. The parking and the entrance are free. Parking area coordinates 43.176, 24.0758 Enjoy ;)
MoreStunning cave and a beautiful walks through leading to the river Iskar and a cliff church.
MoreAmazing nature and cave!
One of the best caves Ive ever seen! Id like to highly recommend for everyone! Accessible for children.
MoreVery beautiful cave. Clean. Free of charge. You can make camping free of charge. It has a canteen of you want to eat something and souvenir shops. Also its very beautiful cave if you are interested in climbing.
MoreFree walk in and beautiful place!
The cave is spectacular , lots of parking space . In the summer there lots of people there, food and souvenirs, great place for a trip
MoreA beautiful plase to visit!
Very inspiring place. There are good souvenir, and fast food point at the entrance. However, there is no toilet there.
MoreTwo years ago, we visited on working day and as expected, we was the only visitors. Except a fen of rock climbing. This year it was a holiday and much more people, some with kids, were there.
MoreStunning, impressive and beautiful! Such a treasure hidden in a such an interesting country. We visited as part of a tour and highly recommend.
MoreNot worth the visit. Cave with lots of people. The parking is muddy and full of cars, and the entrance is also full with little shops and stalls. I dont understand why they have to sell you everything at the entrance of a natural place. There are other caves with more beauty and organization.
MoreNice cave , very different. It’s a good stop if you are passing from this area , but doesn’t worth it to plan a daytrip just for this one. Probably it’s better in spring . Avoid visiting it during the winter period , as it is slippery and ice fragments are falling from the cave’s roof.
MoreOne of the best places in Bulgaria, a favourite and loved spot by cavers and climbers. Though now it gets a bit crowded, you can still camp there. Great hikes in the region, including Achos rock houses. Beautiful!!!
MoreIS FREE - you should go on weekdays to avoid the crowds. Theres street vendors with organic honey and souvenirs. Is a short walk but totally worth it.
MoreIts a very cool natural attraction. I was lucky to go on weekday early so it was not crowded.
MoreIts just phenomenal. The cave scale is big. You can easily reach it via the asphalt road and 5 minutes walk. Theres enough parking space so you dont need get anxious about your car.The God eyes are more stunning when you get right below them. Definitely visit the cave. Youll regret if you miss it.Therere a few food stores throughout the good whether.
MoreWonderful cave with a few more sightseeings nearby
A bit crowded, even on weekdays, however definitely worth visiting. Nature has done an impressive job here.
MoreStunning place! There is something spiritual feeling in this cave
The most unique cave conglomerate in Bulgaria ! I am astonished from the scenery . It is not only Gods eyes and the cave underneath that makes you feel the power of nature and thoughts they make you understand that we are here on earth just a fraction of time, but Nature is forever so the respect has to be paid. Whatever I write is very weak..has and MUST be visited by nature and Cave lovers ! Five star is not enough for this experience !
MoreOne of the most famous cave in Bulgaria.Suitable for the families as the path to access this place is really easy.
MoreHugely impressive through and through cave system. The walk continuing on to the rock monastery is well worth doing, but its not for the faint hearted!
MoreIts most famouse cave in Bulgaria. Its opened and you can visit in anytime.
Great little place to visit. The trek to the monastery is highly recommended. Sunset is nicely visible from the top near the lodging situated close by!
MoreProhodna cave known also as Gods eyes cave.It is a very impressive natural monument near Kurilo village. Closer town is Lukovit. 2h drive from Sofia on North East. Mostly highway. There is no entrance fee. Parking lot is a open field so you have a plenty of space. No additional layers of clothing are needed for cave visiting.Small kids can handle the cave trail. The cave itself has entrance and exit. But that exit leads to a small saxatile monastery. We have not been able to reach it because there were no good signs which trail to pick and other visitors who were going back to the cave told us it was unpleasant experience. So that means you enter the cave and get out from and same place. The cave itself is remarkable and very memorable. There are not neither restaurant nor fast food corners. The toilettets are sort of movable plastic cabines so please do not expect good hygiene.Nearby souvenirs there will be as well as small farmers production like honey and jams.In my opinion is good to be seen.
MoreIts hard to say how amazing place it is! I went there simply by accident but that was the most beautiful cave Ive seen in Bulgaria! Its relatively close to Sofie so you must go there. Just look at those pictures, the only emotion you can present at first moment is WOW
MoreOne of the natures amazing arts! Worth spending a day in the area but be prepared for medium hard climbing. Lots of nice places for lunch and afternoon beer relaxation
MoreNice cave, widely known of its Gods Eyes feature. Perfect for rock climbing. Parking.
MoreAmazing place! Very easy access, only a short stroll from the parking lot.
Definitely a must see Attraction in Bulgaria. Easy parking, no entrance fee and an awesome feeling while inside this huge cave.Just some minutes after you go through it, you can reach the river.
MoreLoads to explore, and great for hiking. There are two entrances/exits on both ends of the cave and a route to a river.Once you are up, the views are simply magestic. When inside Prohodna Cave look up straight into GODS EYES.🙏❤The LIGHT coming through them overtakes your your mind, body and soul.Nature is breathtaking and location is rural and tranquil.Great for those who love climbing, as there are several climbing paths.Highly recomend to everyone who loves exploring the beauty of Bulgaria.I love my country!🇧🇬❤
MoreInteresting cave to see, there are several climbing routes, and also bungee jumps for the thrill seekers. The river is close for a walk.
MoreWow, amazing cave. It is a bit chill in there, so bring yourself something warm if you are visiting it in the early Spring or late Fall. You can find souvenir dealers at the entrance. It height of the cave is enormous. We really liked it. After exiting it, there are signs for Rock Monastery. I recommend following them. Youll reach the river and climb the hill on your right there is a great view from top of it.
MoreGreat cave with countless numbers of bats. Even in daytime, you can hear the sound of bats bustling inside the cave. You shouldnt miss it if you ever pass by.
MoreVery nice place also known as Gods Eyes - by the specific two openings at the upper part of the cave. It is an open cave - no guide or entrance fee is required and can be visited at any time. Staying at the centre of the cave under the Gods Eyes one feels a state of calmness and positive energy surrounds the place. Near the exit of the cave on a hill next to the National Cave House you can observe a spectacular view of the cayon carved by Iskar River and one of the ends of the cave.
MoreGreag place for climbing freestyle jumping and whatever brings you adrenaline. Also the cave itself is must visit.
MoreBreathtaking cave in the middle of pure nature. Definitely go for a walk to the river Iskar, path is dangerous and wild (especially in the rainy days),but its best way to feel the woods power!Free parking next to the caveFree entranceNo toilets provided
MoreWonderful place, with spacious cave, and beautiful path through the forest to the monastery. The walk to monastery is not to easy, because its relatively steep. The cave is aldo known as Gods Eyes because of two opening on the ceiling that looks like eyes. It has a parking in front, and you can buy magnets and other trinkets on stands at the parking. Nearby is a small restaurant.
MoreHuge cave. Free entrance. Gods Eyes are a beautiful sight at any time of the day. Its a quick tour, no more than 30min needed to enjoy it. At the end you can follow a forest path and enjoy the views on the other side.
MoreWondeful cave with the famous eyes, but also impressive rock climbing lines and a hiking to a hidden church and secret waterfall.
