Přírodní rezervace Kogelberg - Tourist attraction in Hermanus, South Africa
Just breathtakingly beautiful. Pristine. Hope it’s kept that way.
Absolutely stunningA frequent visitor here.Allways amazed by the beautiful surroundings!
This was our getaway for 2 glorious nights in the Kogelberg Nature Reserve between Bettys Bay and Kkeinmond. The Palmiet River was flowing beautifully after good rains in August.. On day 2 of our stay we did a 11km gentle loop going up the jeep track and coming back along the Palmiet River. Such amazing mountain views, streams, waterfalls and spring flowers We did a lunch stop at the "Beach" - dipped our toes in the cold water. You can go in for a day visit with your Wild Card or pay the Reserve Fee. We didnt get to see any buck on that day but we were pleasantly visited by a gennet that evening at the lodge. The Eco Lodges were just amazing to stay in and they are so well insulated and well ventilated. The waterless Loo is a first for me and there is truly no stink whatsoever - just make sure you keep the fan on all the time. This is one of the best nature reserves that we have stayed in and we loved our stay, especially as it is only an hour and a half from Cape Town - so for us thats a huge bonus. Kkeinmond is about 2kms away - some lovely restaurants there if you didnt feel like cooking. I almost didnt want to share so I could keep this our secret Getaway. The one criticism I do have is that there was no recycling bin.
A truly beautiful reserve with incredible views and flora. We were a little disappointed that only the Palmiet River Trail was open when we visited as we would have liked to hike more of the reserve.
Such a dreamy escape in a valley! Loved it here. Service was excellent. For a detailed review check IG @travelyourland
The coastal route is very scenic and beautifulThere are many spots to stop along the way
I asked to cancel a booking, 21 days ago and Im still waiting. 13 days since I last received a email. Not only did I receive bad service, but the business practice is horrific. . I made a booking 4 months in advance and had to cancel the very next morning. 4 months and they policy is they are taking 20% of the money for doing nothing, they still have oppertunity to fill the booking and all they offered was credit for the full amount. This is a terrible business model. IMPORTANT! The 20% cancellation fee is to forces you to take their credit point. Their Stragegy is for you not to take back the money but not repsond to you till you give up take your money as credits, when i said I would take the credit they emailed me immediatly after 4min, but didnt reply for weeks on my other emails requesting my money. I wouldnt want to book with you ever again. Worst booking experence in South Africa.
This is what it means to go off the grid. No cellphone reception, no wi-fi, no television. It rained on both nights. Our pod Strooiblommetjie was literally in the middle of the bush. The cabin has huge windows and watching the birds and the rain was awesome. We walked the Palmiet trail but most of it was flooded so we had to turn back. Would like to visit again. The eco-loo’s takes getting used too. Lol
The views are beautiful and the plant variety amazing.
Great hiking trails next to the river. Stunning rock pools to swim and beautiful fynbos
Amazing place - quite, private beach with life guards on duty. Very large camp terrains. Pack all your stuff away so the baboons dont get to it.
Beautiful nature Reserve. It’s so big and the trails are very long.Palmiet river trail is at least 4 hours back n forth with kids. It’s approx 9km walking. My hack for getting to and from the beach, would be to walk along the oudebosch road in the park, all the way from the reception up to the beach. The walk wouldn’t be as scenic as the river walk, but much faster and feet friendly. #justsaying
Wow... beautiful scenery 😍 there is a few hiking trials, however we did the walk to the "beach" about 5km per way... however there is other hiking trials as well...The reserve also offers accommodation... check out their website...An amazing day spend with beautiful people!Highly recommended 👌🏽
What a nice getaway in the mountains. Stayed at the mbali lodge very nice and clean 5 star accommodation only the toilet is a compost toilet something to get use to on your stay. There are plenty of hikes to choose from during the day. There’s no cell and WiFi signal.
Beautiful views. The Palmieri river was great for swimming. Lovely hikes. The Mbali collection was amazingly beautiful and eco friendly accommodation
One the best reserves of Cape Nature. Eco cabins are sublime! Hiking trail is amazing!
Can highly recommend the Palmiet river trail. It is pretty flat and just follows the contour of the river. There are multiple places to swim along the route but there is really nice little beach section about 3/4km into the hike. There is not a lot of big shade on this hike, so just something to be aware of if hiking on a cooking day.You will need a cape nature permit. I recommend booking before online or on the phone to avoid disappointment at the gate.As always when hiking in the cape, take:- hat- sun cream- warm top- water- cell phone
We did the Palmiet River walk. A very easy walk that rambles along the edge of the Palmiet River. Take water and your costume as there are plenty of swimming spots along the way. Beautiful fynbos and vegetation and if you love photography and flowers- plenty to spot along the way, so a camera is a must. Its an easy walk that doesnt require any special skills and very safe for children too.The walk itself there and back is about 2 hours but plan a few hours for stopping along the way for photos, lunch and a swim.Ive done this walk twice, once in Winter and once in summer and the vegetation was totally different each time. Well worth it.
What an awesome and beautiful gentle hike. Absolutely breathtaking views
Fantastic views and places to swim along the River hike. The river hike is a very easy walk, but there is no shade. The large poor with beach to swim at is 4.5km down the river.During the pandemic they are only letting 40 people in, so make sure you get there early.
Very nice drive and parking places. Just be careful
Bientang has the most incredible view of the old harbour and the bay. The outdoor seating is great for sunny, still days. Seafood meals are delicious and cocktails enticing and colourful. Service of a very good standard. A visit to this restuarant is a must when in Hermanus!
Beautiful area, but only for real wild life lovers. Area must be kept clean and in its beautiful state.
Its a nature reserve, whats not to like. So very beautiful and tranquil!
Most beautiful hike. A must to do in kleinmond
Hiked the 2 day Highlands Trail in Kleimond. Stunning views and quite a workout.
Stunning fynbos vistas, amazing self catering luxury rooms, mountain water swimming pool, great hiking trails, lots of birds, peace and quiet, loved it.
We walked 3 Sisters Trail - the proteas were incredible.
Trails for snails or speedy gonzales the Kogelberg nature reserve has it all
A beautiful place to visit, very nice hiking trail
Loved it amongst proteas and fynbos on soft green mountain!
Its a well kept secret. The nature trails offer beautiful views of Fynbos vegetation and the sea.
Great place to go to when its storming at the beach. We did the Oudebosch - Leopards Kloof Trail. It goes through indigenous forest and has stunning views. Steep descent towards Bettys Bay.
Beautiful setting with breathtaking views. Numerous stunning hiking trails. The Oudebosch Eco chalets are really something special, integrating seamlessly with the surrounding wildlife. If you love nature then this is a must.
An idyll amongst the majestic mountains of the Kogelberg... each cabin is different but all are well equipped and most have wonderful views... Marsh Rose has the best view in my opinion and is slightly apart from the others...
This is an amazingly beautiful part of the Western Cape with fantastic hiking routes
The best kept safe walking trails in the Western Cape. River down below and not a sound of traffic. Well worth the drive from Cape Town along the coastal route.
Fantastic secluded part of the cape coast. A person can literally get lost in here, so keep a map or a guide handy. My uncle and I did an uncharted hike through a large section of it starting at the river mouth bridge and ending at the the gardens restaurant. A real distance, so a real adventure for the brave!
Absolutely gorgeous scenery. We did the Palmiet River Trail which was delightful on a hot day. It is a fairly easy walk with nice spots to stop and swim.
Such a beautiful spot. A place to rest your soul but use your energy to walk in pure, clean nature. A bucket list place!!!!
This place is very quiet and tranquil. For some time away from the city noise, from the hustle and bustle, this place is one of the getaway places for this. I particularly enjoyed the river walk, with beautiful places to stop and savor natures beauty. There seems to be a lodge close by and I think you can call them and confirm, I just went for a day visit. There are different routes and varying sizes which make it so good for people of all ages and fitnesses. This place comes highly recommended.
A wonderful botanical garden and a great place for a picnic , a walk or to just relax in the shade . Up to date info boards introduce you to the various plants trees and grasses .
Some of the best hiking and natural scenery around the area. Definitely not too be missed!
One of the most underrated and most unique and beautiful nature reserves in the Western Cape, featuring a myriad of hiking trails. The Palmiet River trail is by far my favourite. Bring your swimming costume and towel (and picnic), particularly in summer
Kogelberg has easy access to the parking area. There are a few hikes available at R40.00/ adult and R20.00/ child. Beautiful area and super small beaches to swim and cool down. My only complaint is there are no clear path markers with distances hiked.
One of my favourite places in the country. The eco cabins are superb with lots to do in the area along with great hikes and an amazing wetlands swimming pool. Visit Bettys Bay and see the penguin colony there.
Super chilled hiking and "The Beach" is the perfect spot to kick back for the day.
Amazing setting between mountains and ocean.... Breathtaking beauty and nature at its best.... Part of a Unesco Biosphere Reserve
Another 5 star experience. Amazing accommodation that I wish I could spend more time in. This is one of my most favourite places on the planet. Hard to beat, and i couldnt recommend this place more highly.
Amazing hiking trails with beautiful views. Lovely fynbos and wildlife.
