Princesa Gastrobar - Puerto Rican restaurant in San Juan, Puerto Rico
The food was delicious. The atmosphere was perfect for a nice dinner with coworkers.
The food was really good! A bit on the higher end of price, but a great experience. The Moscow Mule is a must.
Delicious, great staff
It had decent food, but not to my taste. Small portions and alot of spice on their dishes. Good selection of drinks and a few authentic dishes. Live music is a great addition. And its location is a big plus as it is close to the ocean and right beside the nightly festival market. Come at night and stop by the market to work off a few calories or add a few more.
Great ambiance, awesome staff! However, presentation lacked a bit, the eggplant lacked cod fish and was overcooked. The place was not packed for an error such as overcooked eggplant.
This restaurant was beautiful. We sat at the bar while we waited for our table and two of the bartenders including the head bartender educated us about the menu and gave us a show making a beautiful drink. Once we sat down, the server was also very knowledgeable and the food came out really fast. We ordered apps and entrees and everything was perfect, very good. I would definitely go back when visiting again. It was a memorable experience. I highly recommend!
The atmosphere, live music, service/professionalism and care at this place are enough to give it a 5 star review. We came here on a Wednesday evening, which was not busy, but it was also super romantic and intimate. The Yautia Fritters were a delightlful appetizer, creamy on the inside and perfectly fried on the outside served on a wooden plank with 5 fritters in a nice aioli sauce. For entrees I ordered the 16oz ribeye which was cooked perfect, super flavorful, not chewy, and even the fatty pieces melted in your mouth. I swapped the sweet potatoes for the bacon rice and beans 10/10. My wife had the Lamb “Piñon” which was a mound of layered flavors. Shredded lamb, cheese, sweet plantains and super soft avocado on top. She also paired with the bacon rice and beans. For a cocktail I got the Rum Old Fashioned with a coconut water ice cube, and a smoked cinnamon stick, for a whiskey guy this old fashioned was phenomenal. And of course the flan de coco was a home run. Highly highly recommend this place if you’re in Old San Juan. Buen Provecho!
This restaurant is so romantic. I think the beauty and magic of old san juan is wrapped up right in this one place! Its really quite charming. The dress code is mixed. Id be comfortable coming here dressed casually after a day of sightseeing or in a dress. There is an indoor part where you enter with seating for dining and a bar. To the left youll find an outdoor dining area with a bar thats I think looks cool as hell! The restrooms are also located out there. From the interior to the right is a bar and beyond that a secluded area that can be rented out for private parties and seats 25. Ive included pictures of everything. I highly recommend this place.
If the food is anything like their drinks, its awesome. Stopped in for drinks, not disappointed at all. Bar tenders were the best. Gotta try the Besito é coco. Loved it and I usually cant stand frozen drinks.
Absolutely perfect! Dinner was fresh and delicious, servers were so nice and pleasant, also provided the best recommendations. Stephanie was an absolute delight. Highly recommend and will be coming back!
Amazing food and service! AC was cranking and made the whole atmosphere enjoyable! Would highly recommend!
The food was delicious, especially the rabbit! Our waiter Javier was exceptionally kind and attentive. Love the ambiance with the beautiful trees inside and the live music playing! Lovely night out, definitely recommend!
We were recommended this restaurant by our Old San Juan tour guide. It is really nice and upscale. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was very nice. I think it would be a great date night spot.
One of the best restaurants in San Juan! Delicious food, beautiful setting and top notch service. Ropa Vieja and Piñón Oveja melted in mouth. As a bonus, you can park your car across the street on a big parking lot for $3 per day and stroll through Old San Juan before/after restaurant.
The cod filet in chickpea stew and beef appetizers were so tasty. Do not get the regular fish filet - it is flavorless and overpriced.
Quickly seated without a reservation and received exceptional service! Red snapper was delicious and our drinks were deliciously strong ☺️
Lovely restaurant. We chose to sit outside under the big banyan tree and we got to experience true Puerto Rico. There was music playing outside while we are our food. Husband ordered the Lamb Pinon which was something unique-lamb wrapped in cheese. Delicious and strangely not very heavy. I ordered the Ropa Vieja and it is one of the best lamb dishes I have eaten. My mother ordered the codfish with chickpea stew and it was such a unique combination and so flavorful. Sister ordered a white bean salad which honestly needed more flavoring. Very enjoyable drinks too. All in all a good place to dine and visit
Had a reservation here for outside seating. When we arrived, we were put in what may have been the worst seat available, immediately underneath a really tacky "rum" sign and a terrible associated light. Wait staff gave very little attention or care. Most of the meal was mediocre at best. The snapper was the best thing I had, and it was overcooked. If youre visiting old San Juan and want delicious food, there are many more much better places to eat. Dont waste your time or money.
Great service & delicious puertorrican food! Princesa Rice with yuca stuffed chicken breast, pork tenderloin with veggies & 3 leches!😋👍👏
Wow...what a find! Completely enjoyed our food and drinks at Princesa. We love rum, and the waiter was so knowledgeable. We ended up trying delicious rum wed never had before! Appreciated the farm-to-table aspect and authentic recipes here, too. Highly recommended!
Beautiful night at Princesa. We started with the soup which was delicious. Each of us tried a different entree and paired it with a cocktail. The Piña Colada was strong, but I did not complain! The food was very well presented and all the flavors paired deliciously. It was a gastronomical experience! The musician also made the atmosphere very lively. The vibes, food, and service earns Princesa a 5/5.
The chicken was dry and a little burnt. Had to send it back. I dont like doing that but for the price they charge I sure did. A little too pricey for mediocre tasting food. The pork chop was greasy and filled with fat. The rice was good but I could get that at any given diner. Nothing special.. I do not recommend this place...
Great food, atmosphere, and professional staff. Would highly recommend if you are looking for local food within the Old San Juan area. The only downside was the wait time once we were sat down.
Great drinks, awesome food and the service is absolutely perfect.Great ambience and enjoyed some really great live music
Made a reservation for two but another friend decided to join us. We were literally scolded by a rude millenial hostess that td me with an attitude that "next time we should let them know beforehand." Never had a worker in a restaurant tell me as a paying customer that. On the contrary, isnt it a sort of policy to try your best to make your customer feel good? Especially if you are bringing an EXTRA paying customer with them? Our waitress (Nicolewas great though, and tried her best. The other person bringing the food also had very little knowledge as to treating customers. I asked him to have an appetizer cut in smaller pieces and he said bluntly that "this was the way it comes from the kitchen." I had to give him a bit of an attitude myself so I could have my wish. Isnt that what a restaurant experience is about? Maybe thats just me. I think the manager should educate his/her staff better ad to customer satisfaction.
Nice outdoor setting for dinner. The food was fine overall. Very friendly staff managing the front of the house who were willing to make an outdoor seating reservation possible. This place gets busy, so expect a little bit of a wait. A little on the pricey side, but you pay for location as well.
Food was delicious, high quality and authentic but as a tourist coming from the Midwest U.S. our server Joyce made all the dishes very approachable! She also helped immensely making recommendations for nightlife in the area. Overall the food and atmosphere were great, but the service really took my experience above and beyond. Would highly recommend :)
Had an amazing experience here! My sister and I celebrated our 40th here for lunch. The food and service was awesome! Definitely would come back.
Lamb chop was great, but I did not enjoy the root veggie side... Maybe I just don’t like cassava, but it had really strong pork smell(?and it was unpleasant.I went there Saturday evening, I was lucky that I could get seats at the bar without reservation. Otherwise, making reservation is required.
Tasty food and prices are good. Great environment with a very friendly personnel.
AMAZING! The food was delicious and our server was wonderful. Coming here again!
My favorite restaurant in Pureto Rico. The decor and ambience is woody and gets one a perception of being in a rainforest. The waiter was pleasant and helpful in suggesting meals and drinks. My friends and I had absolutely delicious meals and not to forget the cocktails.it was a splendid dinning experience.
Wonderful service and delicious food! The ambiance was great and added to the experience.
I attended a Dinner rehearsal in a private room here that was reserved well in ADVANCE. Maybe 2 weeks in advance! We arrived at 6:30pm and did not get served our PRE-FIXED Meals BY 8:30pm. We basically spent our evening in this place which took to long to give us our food and desserts and IT WAS ALL SET UP IN ADVANCE. I asked the waiter why did the food take long and he said he hadNot any reason to give me. The desert was flan but I couldn’t not eat it due to our Group needing to leave this place. But I did love and enjoy a drink “Besito de Coco”! The waiter was so sweet and kind and honest. The food was NOT WORTH THE WAIT. Service is very slow.the setting is beautiful but NOT WORTH THE WAIT. The wait for the food was extremely too long. I don’t recommend this place to anyone.this was my meal. :-(
The food takes literally 1.5 hr just to get appetizers!!! By the time we got our main course I was ready for bed. However, the food is amazing when you get it. The bartenders are amazing the drinks are 5star.
Wonderful dining experience! Our waiter Yapheth was fantastic. He explained each of the entrees we had questions about and worked with my husband to find substitutes for his food allergies. My husband got the catch of the day and I got the beef medallions. The food was a little long coming out but well worth the wait! Very nice atmosphere and vision for the ambiance.
What a gem! Live music on a Friday night, food was delightful, service was very friendly, and the drinks impeccable. This is aust see in Old San Juan. Loved that is was tucked away and off the regular streets. Cool location with plenty of ambiance!
The best service IN TOWN! Our server was so attentive and friendly. This place has very authentic food and uses a cookbook from the 1800s. The mahi risotto with papaya easily won the best dish in PR. We also ate the lobster criollo mufango which was amazing too.
The food, drinks, atmosphere and our server Angela M. were all 5 star and world class!! I recommend this restaurant to anyone and I will return soon!!
Pretty cool spot. We had a large party and they were able to accommodate with their menu. Fish was awesome. Risotto was really rich but pretty tasty. Ceviche is a pass for me - way too sweet.
The flavors of Puerto Rican food and the outdoor seating is great. We stop and eat something here every time we visit Old San Juan. We love all of the appetizers that we’ve ordered and for dinner we typically share the chuleta Kan Kan and arroz mamposteao. Yum!
I am a chef and this place has knocked my socks off!! Unbelievably fresh, tender and juicy. The flavors are out of this world and very balanced. Take the waiters recommendations and try everything! You have a lifetime patron whenever I’m in town!!
Amazing place! The food was great! The service, even live music from outside the street. And the prices are very reasonable! Best place in Puerto Rico I’ve been too! Would highly recommend and will be back
One of the best steaks I ate in a long time, service was great with unique ambience, live band was pleasant but a bit too loud.
Highly recommend this restaurant! How can you go wrong with live music and the food and the drinks were superb as well! I took the waitress recommendation and Im happy I did. Michelin Worthy quality food. My wife is vegetarian and she really liked her food as well. You must try the cucumber and lime cocktail!
Food was delicious and the service was excellent! They had live music and a bar which was a plus, however, the ambiance was too loud last night because of a huge group celebrating a birthday something completely understandable especially since PR is a party 24/7. (LOL)I had the lamb meatballs for starters and the Garita for my main course. Simply delicious! Like the Terminator would say, Ill be back!
Private rooms off to the side provide a cozy atmosphere for larger groups. The service is quick. The staff is friendly and theres a live band that plays!! Totally worth the visit. The menu is relatively inexpensive so theres the added benefit of that. As them about the pepper sauce!
Delicious menu! The tuna tartare! The scallops! The meatballs! Yum! Do happy hour for sure. 2 for 1 rum drinks with all natural juices. The goiaba juice and the pink grapefruit were favourites. The live music and Spanish guitar was awesome. Clean bathrooms were a welcome bonus haha ;)
Nice place next to the water. Got lucky and had a 2-for-1 drink coupon from the hotel. The Pina Colada and mojito were pretty good. Nice to have a refreshing drink after walking around in the heat. The croque madame was really good. Steak and eggs was good but very heavy as it comes with pulled pork. Salmon was okay but overcooked.
The restaurant is clearly beautiful. You get that high end look at a affordable price. Some about the food, high end but affordable. The food is by far the best found on the island. Reminds me of Grandmas cooking. Dont just take my word for it, try it out for yourself and enjoy....I did!!!
