Large pub decorated with old beer signs and tankards, serving a considered British/European menu.
Decent choice of drinks, friendly bar staff and crowd - only down side is a little short of seats inside but its a popular pub on a friday evening so goes with the territory.
Friendly staff, decent selection, excellent food
Friendly welcoming staff. Thanks to Siobhan and JJ. New staff have turned this pub around.
Beautiful place, good food and drinks and wonderful staff
Great Pub! Wonderful staff, total teamwork ! Lovely food!
Very friendly staff! Great place to have a few drinks, even if youre not a local!
Great little neighborhood pub. Excellent service, great selection of beers on tap and the food was excellent. Perfect old school pub setting. Highly recommend!!
Great location, amazing staff, excellent food! Highly recommend :)
We liked this place. It had character and class and the Guinness was good. The green sofa was a bit saggy and low, but yeah, definitely worth a visit - nice looking place - hanging plants and such. Very near to East Putney Tube Station. They started serving supper at 5pm, just after wed turned up and we just had a sticky toffee pudding, which was yummy, even after several pints of Guinness. We were a bit noisy, due to being tipsy, and they politely asked us to turn it down. The background music in there was very good, I thought (they had the very extended version of American Pie, amongst others). They dont take cash.
Best Guinness, Chicken Burger and Pub Quiz in London!
Great service, good food, decent drink selection (all good options)
Busy pub a few minutes walk from east Putney tube station. Seating outside.
Great pub: good food, friendly service
Proper pub feel and good selection of beers on tap
Kitchen shuts at 3 pm and arrived at 2.45pm. would not serve 2 disabled people. Once they were rude I was. Hope they go bust
What a great find. Lovely staff. Good value tasty food.
Great Sunday roast, beef very well cooked, just pink inside and a beautifully crispy yorkshire
Very lovely atmosphere, very homey inside and out, heating was on outside, very clean and tidyFood was great, drinks just on pointBen was very warm and welcoming, telling me about this pub and drinks and how old the pub is, and whats around hereCharlotte was lovely, and very responsive to my numerous questions about LondonImpressive! Great prices! Will indeed be back here!Keep up the hard work and see you soon guys💕
A traditional pub with Friendly staff and a good selection of ales
Nice little pub, clean, pleasant staff. Could do with some more variety in beer options I think maybe a sour offering
Enjoyed a delicious fish & chips and tempura battered squid for starters. Big pieces of squid, sweet & tasty mushy peas and a huge, crispy piece of cod. Relaxed and prompt service.Nice atmosphere and interior, will have to go back some time and test out the range of beers on tap - cool.

Food’s been great. Ben is the most welcoming, friendly host we’ve ever encountered in a pub. The Prince of Wales is worth a visit!
Lovely food, great service as always. Love visiting this pub 🙂
Nice pub with good atmosphere. Always popular. Pint prices are a little high.
Early evening meal here. Traditional pub feel to it. Not too crowded at this time (1800but good atmosphere. Very friendly and attentive waitress (on gap year), as was her boss. Reasonable range of pub food which was good quality and tasty. Appeared reasonably quickly. Good range of beers and lagers, including craft ales. Would go back.
Very different from your usual every day drinks so its well worth trying from other pubs. High quality beers
Special thanks for the two gorgeous ladies Julia and Thalia for the best service and making us feeling at home .As well for the handsome bartender who never let us to stay thirsty .To not forget the kitchen ....amazing food guys. Best pub with the best staff in Putney !!!
Really nice, cosy pub.Attentive staff, good selection of Drinks and very good food.
Lovely pub with a nice atmosphere. I had a great roast dinner here. Staff are very attentive and kind. I will be returning for sure.
I was visiting my son and partner over the weekend and we called in for a pint on the way home about 22.45. We had a pint each and a glass of water. 5 mins after sitting down to enjoy our drinks we were informed the pub was closing and plastic cups were dropped on the table for us to decant our drinks into and walk outside. At no point did they mention this while we were buying our drinks or I wouldnt have bothered. In the event we rushed drinking our pints no time to enjoy them at all my son felt quite sick afterwards.
Awesome pub with great selection of beers on draft. Roast was excellent ! Highly recommend the roast chicken !
Great pub for some pints and some good food. You have the option to order the food from the bar yourself or have table service and pay a service charge. We went for table service and we were looked after very well.
One of my favourite pubs in Putney! Staff are very friendly and welcoming, great service, great drinks, and fantastic food. Spacious and comfortable indoor or heated terrace, perfect to dine in day and night! Their Sunday Roast is must-try! Delicious vegan options available too!
We were 3 adults and 2 babies that went here. It wasnt too crowded so we sat inside to protect the babies from people who might smoke outside. We had a lovely lunch together. I had fish and chips and enjoyed it. My friend who ordered bunless chicken burger loved hers a well. Service was great. Would certainly recommend.
Great meal. This was our first visit as have just moved to the area. We had Sunday roasts, I had the chicken and partner had the beef. Both were very good, even the roast potatoes! The reason I gave 4* and not 5* was the lack of dessert choices. After a big dinner some lighter options would have been nice, especially on a beautiful, scorching day. There was only a sticky toffee pud or choc fudge cake to choose from so, we went without. Would defo recommend and will be returning 👌
To me, this is the best pub in Putney. I’ve going since I moved here 7 years ago and POW just keeps providing. Great local vibe and staff always go out the way to keep you happy. Good on a summers day or middle of winter by the fireplace on the leather couch. Try the scotch eggs!
Average is the best I can say about this pub! Service was great and the chocolate brownie too, however let down by the extremely bland main meals. All of us were disappointed with the lack luster mains.I dont remember this place being so average in the past. The 3 stars is for staff and the brownie.
My Christmas this year was looking very sad once Europe closed its borders to the UK and my flight to spend the holiday with my family was cancelled. I decided to order click & collect from the Prince of Wales so I could enjoy a Christmas feast even by myself. At noon on Christmas day I received a call from someone at the pub asking if I could please call when I was outside, as the pub wasnt actually open that day. This wonderful man (Im so sorry I forgot your name!took time out of his Christmas celebrations to make my meal even though it was only through a glitch I was able to order it in the first place. I am so eternally grateful for your generosity and cant wait to pop down for a proper visit once the pub is open again <3
Good, Would have preferred a bit more meat as only 2 thin slices.
Such a lovely pub. Really good selection of ipa and spirits, including some of my favourite rums. The staff are super friendly, and have a really good approach to work making everyone feel welcome. The food used to be average but now seems to be improving with the new owners.Without question the best bit is the quiz on a Sunday hosted by Alex, everything you could ever want from a quiz and a friendly neighbourhood pub!
Great atmosphere but off day for food. Weve had some great meals here, love the atmosphere, decor and the staff are very pleasant. However our Sunday lunch yesterday was a bit hit and miss. The yorkshire pudding was as tough as old boots and the beef, although it looked nicely medium rare, was incredibly chewy and just not pleasant. Vegetables were good though with a decent serving. Hopefully this was just an off day. Why didnt we complain? Well, British folk dont like to :)
Wednesday evening visit. Not busy, but with most tables taken. Decent selection of beer, and we chose a very palatable bottle of Malbec... food was fine, in fact good for a pub. Decent value.
Great pub right really close to East Putney station. Great atmosphere and the staff are very nice and helpful, with a decent selection of beer (nothing out of the ordinary but youll definitely find something you like). The food is good and despite there seeming to be a lack of chips on the plates, the burgers are big enough to leave you feeling full. Would definitely recommend stopping if youre walking by.
Nice pub on the main road. The atmosphere is nice and comfortable and the restaurant at the back really homely.Sunday Roast was lovely. Good portion, the roast beef nice and pink but the veg mediocre. Gravy was a little disappointing and a bit wishy-washy and side order of cauliflower cheese could have done with a bit more cheese.
Excellent food - some of the best in Putney (and there are plenty choices!and our favourite local pub. Good for both a proper sit down meal or a casual pint. The menu regularly changes with great new additions, and the chicken burger is genuinely the best in London!
Great friendly pub, popped in for one before the boat race and ended up coming back. Chilled out, lovely bouncer on the door who noticed I was from Yorkshire even though I havent lived there for over 15 yrs. Great attention to detail. Clean toilets big plus for London. Will come back, friendly locals another plus for London. No offence Londoners.
Cute little pub with a decent beer selection and nice decor. Knocking stars off for a terrible music selection (rnb at the pub?and pretty steep prices. Probably wont visit again.
Really fabulous food and service. We live opposite, and avoided this place for food (the beer has always been greatfor ages. The food and service is now top gastro-pub standard. Chicken liver parfait with pickled watermelon (yes, pickledis sublime. As is the wild mushrooms with Stilton on toast, topped with a runny-yolk duck egg. MmmmmSunday roast is, for me, all about very pink beef and sticky proper gravy (chef told me he makes his by roasting a whole carcass for 24 hours then stewing it for a further 12 hrs.So, a change in management, and/or chef, and this place is transformed. This will be our go-to for a loooong time. Keep up the great work folks!!!
Food is good and the dining room not overstuffed with tables, beer is well kept and good choices. Could do with a few more craft beers. The home made scotch eggs are always great. The staff are nice.
