Many options for burger fixings & a wide selection of draft beers draw crowds to a warm woody space.
Arguably one of the best chicken sandwiches I’ve ever had. Very down to earth bar with decent drinks and food options. The happy hour is a good call if you live in the area or looking to make a quick pit stop.
Last place we went to on our visit to Connecticut. Food was incredible, chicken sandwich was tremendous. Nice beer selection, better than most of the breweries that we visited. Great bartender, very friendly and great service. Best food and drink place for the weekend.
We dined here recently after visiting a museum. A small place in downtown with a big menu. Awesome burgers and an extensive bar menu. Always stop here when in the area. Service was prompt and attentive.
Pretty good meat and service.
Did not even get to experience the food because the person at the door gave us a hard time… she made us feel so uncomfortable and was very unwelcoming… she asked if we had a reservation…. I said did we need a reservation? She proceeded to seat us at a table but my family was uncomfortable so we got up and left…
Not sure what happened with my burger, but I’ve never picked up a burger that was such a waterfall of fat and grease pouring out of it. Completely saturated the bun, left my plate dowsed, and made it pretty unpleasant to eat. To me that indicates improper cooking technique or beef selection.I’ve been there in years past and don’t remember this experience so maybe a one off with the kitchen. The staff is friendly and service is good, I just can’t get past the burger.
Food, and service are excellent. Atmosphere was average: lighting was a bit too dim in certain places, and AC was not working when I went.
Went with the fam after our Ikea day trip. The food was amazing I got the Cajun melt. The burger was cooked perfectly. And the bread they used was delicious.
Fantastic place. Best restaurants in new haven.
Sat at the bar and was welcomed by Ben the bartender and the rest of the staff. Food was on point and their signature great fruit drink was perfect and not to sweet or over barring. Great atmosphere. BYOB burger with sweet potato fries, apps were goat cheese balls ::highly recommend:: boneless wings and fried pickles Definitely will be coming back and I live an hour away “oh and they also have (drinks on the go)!
Awesome place to get a bite . Very modern and clean. Staff is great. Our. Bartender server Ben was very attentive and gets 5 stars all the way!!? The food is great with a nice selection of drinks. Eat here!!!
Good food and service. Nice location downtown New Haven.. Had di ner outside with 17 people from a lacrosse tram. Kids had a good time and liked the food too.
amazing experience. Our awesome waitress Alexa recommended the Texas BBQ last month and i’ve been getting it every since. the bartenders also did an outstanding job on me and my wife’s cocktails (she’s very serious about her drinks. super clean, definitely will recommend to family and friends!
Food was amazing. I also thought the price was very good for the food and drinks we got. Staff was very friendly. I highly recommend you stop in here for lunch or dinner.
Good food and service for not a lot of money! They had many choices of food for dine in. Have not had the privilege of using their take out services.
great little spot, great food our server was knowledgeable and on point , will definitely be back
Great food, full of flavor! Love their Quinoa Burger ❣️ Super friendly staff, love stopping here for my lunch hour!! 😊
Cameron was such a great server!!! the food was amazing and he made my drinks perfectly. Give him a raise!!!
I got the chicken sandwich and it was about the size of a mchicken for 15$. It was loaded with onions (which I dont even likewhich they did not said they put onions on the menu. Overall I was unsatisfied. Next time I will try there burger.
Good selection of local and international beers. Friendly bartenders. Food can be a little heavy, but its tasty and there are vegan/vegetarian options.
Quick service, friendly staff, and the 2nd Breakfast was one of the best burgers Ive had recently.
All the burgers can be made on a gluten free bun, which is very good quality. There is no dedicated gluten free frier, but I havent had an issue eating the fries (I have gluten intolerance though, not celiac). There is also flourless chocolate cake!My favorite meal here is The Smoker burger on a gluten free bun with fries and a pineapple express.
Amazing service! Fun food: Beer chili=soooo good. They know their IPAs and recommended Haze. Terrific choice! I was in from California to sign on a house. Can wait to move so we can return!
The Honey Truffle has to got me the single most filling and delicious burger I’ve ever had. That, along with the fries in chipotle mayo was one of the best meals I’ve ever had in New Haven — and that is saying something.
Great service and excellent food. I sat at the bar. Was greeted immediately after I selected my seat. Bartender was fully engaged during my visit.
My Post Modern Burger was dry and tasteless. My friend stated her 2nd Breakfast Burger was good. The Pineapple Express was very good!
3 of us had burgers, one had a chicken sandwich. The food was outstanding. I drove from NY. My daughter and her family from Framingham MA. We met and spent a few hours at East Rock Park. I found the restaurant online. Everyone loved their food and thanked me for finding it. 👍👍👍👍
No idea why this place has so many good reviews? We had a reservation last night and had to stand for 45 minutes to get a table. This place is small, cramped and way overrated. The food is poor to average and over priced. Lines at the single bathrooms typified this amateur outfit.
This is my second time in this place and it was even better than before. We had the Famous Chicken Sandwich and the Honey Truffle burger. They both were amazing. The flavor and preparation were incredible. For the side dish we had mixed greens and tatter tots. The happy hour drinks are only five bucks. We tried mojitos and margaritas. The spicy margarita was delicious. We highly recommend this place. Good times in New Haven.
Incredibly friendly and attentive staff that serve outrageously good food. I was so pleased to have happened upon this restaurant and will go out of my way to get back there as soon as possible. Outstanding experience! Keep up the great work.
The service was excellent! Our waitress, according to the receipt, Bianca D was very attentive and polite. I wanted to love the food but the goat cheese croquet bites were warm and a couple the center still cold. They were ok but I was expecting more flavor. I had the Prime 16s famous fried chicken. The chicken didnt seem like it was something that was seasoned and breaded in house (I think it was frozen patties It looked good but was flavorless and the chicken was meh. I ate 1/2 and really didnt even want to finish the rest. The fancy tstor tots however were really good. The other 2 people in my party got the BYO burger and the canjun melt. They said both were good. The only negative was they switched the med. well from the med. rare.Cant say I am running to go back but may to try the burger.
First off. Service was great. Very friendly and accommodating staff. The food was good. Flavors were there. Fresh items. Drinks were good too. Truffle fries were ok, previous visit I remember them being more memorable. Overall great experience.
Great food romantic and comfortable yet up class ambiance and the best service. What an amazing way to start the year #best date with my girlfriend ❤️😄
One of the best burgers I have EVER eaten. The 2nd Breakfast burger was perfectly cooked to medium rare with two thick slices of bacon topped with a fried egg. Very tasty fries and a good selection of local and craft beers. Excellent service too. Would be five stars, but they couldnt find our 6:45 reservation even though we received a confirmation. Fortunately, we were still able to be seated. It got pretty crowded after 7pm. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Great burgers! This was my second time here and I was just as great as the first time. I had the second breakfast which has an egg but I added avocado.
Super solid service will keep us coming back. NOT your basic burger. Mikki made our experience top notch (Highly recommend her). The menu was deep enough to give us plenty of variety. A little on the pricey side. However the service was friendly, the food fast, hot and rub your tummy yummy. Insta nod?!?! 🍔
This is a nice place in the heart of downtown to grab a drink and some great food! The decor is classy, the service was attentive, and the steak dinner I had was delicious. The burger menu is large, tons of options from type of bun, protein, cheese, and toppings galore!! Prices are a little high, but fair considering the quality of ingredients and prime location.
The quality of the burger was good, but overall there’s not much there for the price. The portion of fries seemed small, and nearly all extras on the burger are like a dollar each if you go the build-your-own route. Satisfying meal but a bit pricey.
Burger was delish! Service was great, kids had fun. For sure will be back!
Where can you find a hamburger to remember in New Haven? Prime 16 has my vote. The meat was well season and juicy, but not in fatty way. I cant exactly remember which burger this is but it was perfectly combined with an aioli sauce, other toppings and a pretzel bun. No ketchup needed! Now to the tater tots which were crisp and spiced. My mouth is watering as I remember their pleasant texture and perfect seasoning. Again no ketchup needed. As a person told us, "Go to Louis Lunch for the experience (if you can get in), go to Prime 16 for the burger".
Based on the prior reviews, maybe this joint doesnt deliver with 100% precision, but they LANDED MY BURGER. Its exactly the craftsmanship I wanted. I edited their lamb burger to my specific tastes and got what I was craving. And got an extra for the road!
Great burgers with lots of different options and sides. Burger patties are well seasoned and not overly salty, which already makes for a solid burger. Good atmosphere and service as well. Perfect place to grab a casual bite with friends.
The burger was dry yet the bread was wet from oil dripping onto the bread. Soggy bottom bun. Had to ask for side of bbq sauce to go with the dry Texas bbq burger. The pecans were delightful. The kale falafel was interesting.
The service is great, beers on tap are great, fries and truffle fries are ok, and burgers are meh. I really wanted to love the food but it just left me full but not satisfied. If that makes sense.I got the Modern Burger and it had a bitter after taste with each bite that just got stronger as I kept going. Maybe its meant to add to the flavor of the burger but it just dominated it more so than added to it. I took out the patty to eat it on its own and there was nothing special about it. It is a pretty big burger though. My husband had the bison burger and he said it was good. But again, nothing memorable or special about the flavor.Im sad because the expectation was high and the flavor was sad.The Modern Burger might have not been for me but the vibe, the service, and the numerous other things I can order would be enough for me to try another time.
Great restaurant the features burgers but have so much more to offer! They also offer great vegetarian options.
Loved it, great choice of burgers and local beers, reasonable price, v good service.
Change isnt always good. As soon as they went from a chalk beer list to superfluous TVs things deteriorated. The beer list is still one of the best around, but youre forced to stare mindlessly at screens that cycle just fast enough to not let you read, then have to wait through to come back again. The happy hour no longer has wings (RIP), even if the new small plates are decent. The street tacos were tough and dry, but the burger bao was tasty. The burgers arent what they used to be, the fries are in a tiny tin. Four star was for the memory of what Prime used to be, otherwise itd be a hard 3.
Great truffle fries. Cool atmosphere, great for dates. Prompt service. They validate parking for the crown and temple street garages! Burgers are in the $11-14 range.Pros: good food, variety of burgers, can build your own burger, has a happy hour, good service, good atmosphere, validate parkingCons: cant think of any!
Positive: We had the "half-bacon" burger on a pretzel roll which was really good! They pre-cook the bacon & mix it in with the raw hamburger, which means you can order it rare if you like. The fries were pretty good too even though they arent freshly cut. I asked our waitress what kind of ketchup was in the bottles, she said its just the regular Heinz. I mentioned that I dont do well with high fructose corn syrup, so she told me about one they make in-house thats like a ketchup barbecue sauce.. not my thing but it wasnt bad. They cooked the burgers rare as we ordered & both of our plates were sent back empty! They do charge extra for the pretzel roll, but its reasonable.. definitely not high as to rip someone off like many places do. While we didnt have any alcoholic beverages, we did notice their big screen they have up with different beverages with descriptions including locations which made us curious to go back for another visit. We didnt order any appetizers, but looking To their menu they do have a good selection, including appetizers that are very reasonably priced! Will be nice to do back & get a few of those & try one of their specialty beverages.Negative: Its on a narrow side street which isnt really bad, but youd easily pass by it if you werent making sure of where youre going. The sign is flat against the top of the building, not sticking out towards the street so if youre looking up youd notice it.. even our waitress said she passes by it when shes coming in for use shift! They dont offer Coke or Pepsi, but rather a local cola which in my husbands opinion was a little under carbonated.. to each their own. Our waitress while nice & was understanding about my good allergy, she never checked to see if we needed refills. They also do charge extra for the house made ketchup & mayo.. (not sure if thats a positive or negative..)
Hands down the best burgers I have ever had in my entire life. The menu contains no less than TEN different types of burgers. I have tried every single one of the options in the menu as of early 2016 (their menus do change periodicallyand they are all top-notch! My personal favorites are the Cowboy Burger and the Cajun Patty Melt. Also, my favorite sides are the Cajun Tater Tots. If you are in New Haven, you have to try this place!
