Press and Pony - Cocktail bar in Boise, United States
Welcome to Boises premier craft cocktail lounge! You will feel the attention to detail from the moment you draw back those curtains, to the last sip of your drink. Recently voted Boises Best Bartender, manager Erik Schweitzer insists on excellence and it shows. Come in, grab a seat, you know youre in good hands.
Had one of Erics famous old fashions it was so good I had 2. Best I ever had.
Excellent craft cocktails. Really good. Cool space and great service. They know their stuff.
Walked in with my wife. There were four open seats at the bar. We used two. We sat for several minutes with no acknowledgement whatsoever. Then two fellas sat down at the other two seats right next to me 5 to 7 min later and were immediately greeted like family and given water and asked what they wanted to drink. There are rules posted on the back bar at this establishment. One says be Boise nice, another says that you must be seated to be served. I guess I learned what Boise nice means and I wasnt served. Ill never be back to this bar and will never recommend this bar. Very sad.
Let them make you a craft cocktail with your thoughts. They are truly skilled....
Great drinks in an intimate space.Had a wonderful time with friends the other night.
This is the introverts dream watering hole...unless its Friday or Saturday night. Its a 1920s/30s speak easy...with phone charging and one hell of an Old Fashioned.
First time to Boise. This spot is awesome. Small dimly lit watering hole, with a mellow cool atmosphere. Great decorations and atmosphere. Friendly and expert bartenders that really really understand how to make an amazing cocktail. I travel alot and always look for good whiskey bars. This is one of the absolute best, if not THE best smoked old fashioned Ive ever tasted. 10 stars but Google only lets me rate 5. If you ever come to Boise, this place is a MUST visit.
Simply stated, the greatest bar we’ve ever experienced! Eric and Jeffrey combine to deliver a personalized, once-in-a lifetime evening. No customer is a stranger and every drink is a mixology masterpiece. Top notch atmosphere, service, and attention to detail. Can’t wait to return!
What an adorable "speak easy" type joint! Loved that it was quiet and not too busy. The drinks were delicious. Highly recommend!
Came here after Treefort, we were exhausted and wanted a cocktail. Super great bartenders, wonderful atmosphere and the drinks were fantastic! I judge a spot by their ability to make an old fashioned and this was amazing. 10/10
Great atmosphere, and a super enthusiastic bartender. Really knew his stuff.
Absolutely obsessed with the place. The cocktails are amazing and the mixologist can totally tailor to your specific preference with just a general description.
Small, but cozy atmosphere. Excellent service & the hand-crafted cocktails are done well! Well be back! 🥃🤩
Press and Pony offers an experience as well as excellent cocktails.Together, the staff and venue create a fun speakeasy vibe with a 20s aesthetic. We tried cocktails featuring a wide range of spirits and liquors and loved every one of them. A++
Speakeasy, hidden bar vibes. All about it. I love The fact that they dont have a cocktail menu and you just tell them what youre in the mood for. Head honcho boss man was super fun to chat with and very informative. Cozy & intimate spot
Amazing cocktails, impeccable service, and perfect ambiance. You wont find a better cocktail bar in Idaho. Reservation only.
Listen.. with all do respect for cocktails this place definitely out stands it expectations. From the sneaky, special, speakeasy kinda entrance way to get into this place, all the way to Erik who’s just amazing on them drinksIf your looking for an easy cool kinda date, thats the place!! Or just to enjoy a good drink..This place hasn’t got a menu, but trust me, Erik willKnow how to fix you up!! 10 stars for a cocktail bar
Such a fun experience! Eric, the bartender, is absolutely remarkable and you can tell he knows and loves what he does. We got to try so many unique and new drinks and they were all fantastic. Everything was first-class quality and the atmosphere played along well with the vibes. Will definitely be returning soon!
This is an awesome experience! Know before going that you need to make a reservation. When you make it there sit back and enjoy the experience. There are no menus so what you do is let the bartender, who has a passion for mixology, know what you like and he gets crafty. Homemade syrups top shelf liquors and specialty crafting like foamy egg whites. Every drink was a pleasant surprise. I cant wait to go back.
Anytime you want an amazing speakeasy experience, go here. The bartenders and atmosphere are second only to the drinks - and these might be the best in Boise. The smoky old fashioned is definitely the favorite of my group. Always recommending this place!
Speakeasies are my partners jam, and on a staycation weekend, Press and Pony was top on our list. We had never been, and the experience was delightful. The entrance to the bar is surprisingly well-conceived, and as we were led into the Press and Pony, we couldnt help giggle. Our bartender, Eric, was terrific. He certainly knows what he is doing. He is knowledgeable and entertaining. His recipes were on point, and his proficiency in cocktail structure allowed him to create delicious bespoke drinks. The night felt personal and exclusive, which is what we were aiming for. Six out of five stars is our rating.
Best cocktails in town. A wonderfully intimate environment. The bartenders are always a joy, except for Eric. He’s great! Consistently good cocktails. Also an amazing happy hour in the before times. Hopefully it comes back after the reemergence.
This place is great. The old fashion I had was fantastic.Due to restrictions placed by the mayor of Boise they could not sit our group of 7 together.
I had a great experience there. The bartender who was taking care of my table was amazing. He was fantastic when it came to entertaining as well as making drinks. I highly suggest the rum punch. Its a bit sweet but great flavor. Atmosphere was definitely welcoming as well as a bit on the quieter side from your standard college student bars.
Travis was the BEST bartender. Spent my 12th anniversary present here.
Its hard to beat a 2for1 Happy Hour! The Pisco Sour is Delish and the bartenders were perfectly attentive but also let us engage in our own conversation. Stoked to see they still have Rittenhouse Rye too! ;)
I admit, I only went to ask about the name in involving pony but logo being a great dane. As a great dane lover and owner, I was very curious. Turned out to be an amazing smaller bar. Make sure to ring the black bell when you go in!
What a welcoming and fun place to enjoy a deliciously crafted beverage! The bartenders were both welcoming and have terrific sense of humor as well as a flair for entertaining. The mixers are all fresh, made in house. Love this place. Highly recommend it.
The premier cocktail bar in Boise. It does get busy from time to time, especially during their (frankly incrediblehappy hour(s)
Great bartending. Poor beer choices. Private, dark nice place
Many an onlooker has had a similar experience passing by this venue: a set of glass doors with a black curtain behind them, obscuring all detail of the area behind it. Is this place even open?Yes - Press and Pony is open and prepared to serve you a wondrous, upscale cocktail experience that not only bests Boise, but nearly anywhere Ive been. Once you accept the fact that the likely drunken clientele will continually produce various demands that overwhelm the very capable mixologists that work here, your patience will reward you.The drinks here are pretty much perfect, and while youre here youre not only likely to see fiery liquor poured at great distances from copper mug to copper mug, but large, sporadic gusts of fire that youll feel from several feet away. Press and Pony never ceases to entertain.Im failing to find a complaint about this place. This is a MUST TRY for cocktail enthusiasts anywhere.
Great place to have a low key drink, their old fashioned and sidecar are very good. Lucky for me these two were also on their 2 for 1 happy hour menu. Would highly recommend if you are a fan of either of those drinks.
This place was awesome! Amazing bartender, classy drinks at great prices. They had two for the price of one for mixed drinks. I had the old fashion and a mint julip, they were both made with precision and were delicious. Ask the blond bartender to to his bar trick...(he blows fire!!)
Delicious cocktails - their reputation as one of the best in Boise is well deserved. Their happy hour is a great deal (2 for 1 on classic cocktailsand goes until 7 PM. The bartender was fantastic - he made some great recommendations and was happy to answer questions.
Sincerely well-crafted drinks and a good happy hour special. Additionally, the bartender was friendly, knowledgeable, and fun. We didn’t know what to expect when we came to visit Boise, but this place set the bar high.
I love the speakeasy atmosphere. The bartender was really friendly and he made very good Martini..
Incredible drink menu! Well trained and professional bartenders, but very friendly and fun. This will be a regular stop for downtown Boise for sure!!!
Tacos were very good. Got some great recommendations from our server. Seeing how it is set up I can see why people complain about not having people seat you. The atmosphere was great. This was a lunch trip.
2 for 1 happy hour! Tavis is the best!! He makes amazing sours and his attitude rocks. Best bartender here by far
Amazing service and well crafted cocktails. Seriously incredible house Cola. Old fashioned here can’t be beat on quality and price. Come for happy hour for half off. $5 cocktails, yes please!
Probably one of my favourite bars downtown. Love the atmosphere, great cocktails, generally great staff. (Seriously, the decor is beautiful!)Its small, but I prefer the smaller, quieter atmosphere - you can actually have a conversation and be able to hear the people youre talking to, which seems like a rare thing to find at a bar downtown.
Great place for a casual drink with awesome vintage atmosphere. The bartenders here are probably hands down the better ones in the valley. Get the El Hefi
Have never had anything but great drinks and friendly, pleasant bartenders here. P&P has something of a speakeasy vibe to it, and although the space is a bit small, Ive always been able to find space for myself and any group Ive brought. Big fan of their house cocktail menu, and the "Pick Your Poison" option where the bartender crafts something based your personal tastes has always given me something new, interesting, and delicious. Favorite place to start, and often end, my evenings downtown.
Nice little place. Love the atmosphere. At the entrance is a curtain you have to walk through. Bar on the left, couple small tables on the right. And a few more small tables in the back. To get to the bathroom you have to walk through a curtain in back which leads directly into the Boise Fry company for their bathrooms. Love the original drinks. Some were very involved to make so it was fun watching them being made. I got the Blood and Sand which was one of the sweeter drinks.
Eric was an amazing bartender! Loved our drinks! He sent us to funky taco where we meet the best local owners in Boise! Our dinner was outstanding! Thank you!
This oasis of fine mixology in Boise is the perfect place to begin an evening or be the capstone to a perfect night. Classic cocktails are well prepared and take a little time to materialize but watch the bartender shape the perfect ice cube and one will understand the wait. Noise is at a minimum so conversation can flow nicely.
Super fun place! Speak-Easy style with fantastic cocktails! The best bart is that if you’re at BFC, there is a special curtain that connects the 2 places!Order the Denim Blazer and get a show 😜
Press and Pony is my favorite bar in Boise. Warm ambiance, great bartenders, and definitely the best craft cocktails in town. With only one large table (easily shared by small groupsand seating at the bar, theres not a lot of room to sit, but its quiet (no music blaringand connects to both Boise Fry Company and Spacebar, making it a great place to spend an evening.
One of my go-to destinations when I have a date night with my husband. Love the speak-easy vibe and the drinks are stiff. Bartender knows what hes doing and I usually like his recommendations.
