Powerscourt Demesne, Enniskerry, Co. Wicklow, Ireland, Cill Chainnigh
18th-century stately home and famous landscaped grounds, with themed gardens and a waterfall.
A very nice park to visit. I was lucky to visit on a Sunny day and take a lot of great pictures
What a unique place, just stunning!! We are going at least once a month. Love the café with the delicious soups and sandwiches and great coffee too. Cute shops to enjoy your shopping and the view is spectacular
It is a place that you can spend the entire day with the family. There are distinct sections within the gardens like the Japanese Garden etc. Options for food is limited so come prepared. Carry plenty of water because on a nice sunny day youll need it. If you are taking public transport, the 44 bus brings you from Dublin city to Enniskerry village. Be aware that the walk from the bus stop to the house in gardens is about 2.2 km and is a steep uphill for the first part. Typically the bus drive is about 30 to 40 minutes depending on where you get it. You can spend a couple of hours in the village at a cafe or roaming around. If you are headed there as of now (Jul 2021), this is the place where the filming of the sequel to the movie Enchanted is in progress. So expect to see plenty of crowds that are interested in that. The entrance to the gardens is ticketed and allows you access to everything else other than the water falls. It is still worth it and you see plenty of people on nice warm days. On a nice day, if you plan to walk up from the village and back to the bus stop, including roaming around the gardens, expect about 8-10 km of walking. The autumn colours have started creeping in as of Oct 2022v and the browned grass due to the summer heat has recovered. Still looking nice though.
What a tranquil place to go for less than an hour from Dublin! Dont forget to grab some food from their cafe for lunch or afternoon tea.
Spectacular. The views are breathtaking. The Japanese Gardens are spellbinding. The beauty of this enchanting place is amazing. There is also the Avoca Shop with it very unique products, a wonderful coffee shop and garden centre.Bring a picnic and spend the whole day here.A truely wonderful place. Well worth a visit.
Loved it. We were lucky sun was shining, and it was warm October weekend. Such a beautiful place for a walk, take pictures, sit down and enjoy the surroundings.
Beautiful gardens, it is rated the 3rd worldwide! It takes a full hour to walk through all the gardens. It is the perfect adventure for a sunny day, only 49 min away from Dublin city center
Voted in the top three gardens in the world and you can instantly see why. The views over the stone steps that run down to Triton lake, with the Wicklow mountains in the distance are nothing short of breathtaking. As are the exquisitely styled gardens it runs through and the house itself that overlooks it all. Still its well worth rambling around to visit some of the other features. Going in a kind of arch from east to west we pass a small stone tower and battlements, then stroll through the lovely Japanese garden onto the shaded Dolphin pond before coming back to the house via the walled garden center with its plethora of species that should be of interested to amateur horticulturalists.
Special place to visit I enjoyed walking around the gardens. Spectacular colours.
The Four Seasons has met its match! The most beautiful grounds I have seen with great detail-oriented and personalized service. Powerscourt is not so much a hotel but an experience.
Wonderful place. Apart from the beautiful gardens you can chill and have a coffee and/or lunch at Avoca terrace wondering the views 😍
A grand house with a full store of gardening and outdoor items is just the start of a summer’s day walk around the well maintained gardens and grounds.
This is one of the most beautifully breath taking gardens on the planet! :... when back in Ireland in Summer I knew I had to revisit for a second time and it still blew me away like it had done during my very first visit on a Spring morning. Views are simply spectacular, fresh vibrant colours fill the air and having bites at the tea room is a nice treat :Its a great place for a family day out! ... A must visit if youre into nature and staying in Dublin / Wicklow areas :)
It is impossible to have a brisk walk here, every turn of this park deserves special attention and careful observation. Plan to spend here atleast couple hours at minimum. There is beloved pets graveyard, a tower you can climb( not very tall, easy steps , manageable for little kids and even ones with weaker knees, rose garden and so much other beautiful greenery ❤️
One of the most beautiful places in Ireland, worth going. The ticket for adults is 11.50€ per person.
So beautiful and a joy to walk around especially the walled garden, the roses were spectacular
A wonderful, beautiful place where you can enjoy nature, old big trees, beautiful flowers, a lake. A wonderful photo zone, a lot of space and on the territory there is a cafe with delicious food. I recommend!
Beautiful gardens and view of Sugar Loaf Mountain Co. Wicklow, well worth a vist
Well kept gardens. Japanese garden is beautiful and rest of the fountains too. The walled garden could do better. I think the tickets could be cheaper though. Good for a day out and picnic.
National Geographic called them the 3rd most beautiful gardens in the world. While the big house has been rebuilt after a fire, the gardens remained and are perfect for an 1 hour walk. Very diverse and beautiful
Spend a day here and see some amazing things. From ironwork to trees and that’s just for starters. You can’t believe how big and beautiful this place is. Gardens ponds and on and on
Pretty good overall. Its very well maintained and theres great attention to detail ok the garden. Theres an entrance fee of (€11.5 as of 2022but I think its worth it of youre into nature walks. As you come into the paid area, theres a nice view to the lake. The area is nicely decorated with fountains and statues. You can go down to the lake area, and from there wall around it to the Japanese garden. Theres a few good things to see there, its well maintained, and you can continue walking to a tower which you can go up and get a nice view of the estate. If you take your time and enjoy the place slowly, you can easily spend at least 1 hour here. There is also a large park area outside of the main building which is also nice to walk around and free of charge, but the main attraction here really is the garden. There is also a garden shop outside with plants and gardening stuff for sale.
More beautiful than you d think, the gardens are gorgeous!
Ireland is a beautiful place. This garden , yes, it is touristy- but amazingly worthy! Gondor a stroll and cap the day with a lemon cake. gosh, what an afternoon.
Super experience, the gardens are magnificent with spectacular views of the Dublin mountains.Roaming around would take 1 hour max.Good place to sit and ponder about life!
Went here to visit the gardens!Had a lovely day out and thought they were stunning. The lady at the ticket desk was lovely and very helpful. They were able to provide a wheelchair for my granny who has a bad knee which was great! The gardens were well kept and we really enjoyed the day out.I understand the gardens are large and require a lot of maintenance, but they tickets are still quite pricey!
Picturesque and varied, plenty to see if you have the time. Beautiful way to spend an afternoon. I would not recommend bringing a pushchair however; it was much easier to carry the child around, with all of the stairs, and the pushchair was an inconvenience. The ponds could do with some cleaning though.
Absolutely sprawling estate with so much to explore that one day would not be enough. Absolutely beautiful place, worth the entry fee.
Very beautiful place! We came here as a family to enjoy some time out and relax with the beautiful sourroundings of the Powerscourt gardens.Really well maintained place with gorgeous views all around.I would definitely recommend to see this place.
Incredible gardens we saw in the rain, loved the lookout, informative video to watch
The gardens here are stunning and enjoyable to walk through and just sit to enjoy the tranquil setting and nice scenery. The shop is very nice too, some gems of books.
Perfect place 🌳🌲🌴 Everyone have to visit it. So beautiful nature, so imazing place. You can walk here hours and hours🌼🤗Just relaxing time👌
Wonderful garden with various colourful flowers and plants. It has japanese and Italian theme parks as well.
Incredibly well maintained and beautiful grounds. Gift shopping available. Very friendly vendors.
This is one of the best gardens Ive been to. Second only to the one in Los Angeles regarding plants. But the view with the palace and the lake is gorgeous. Worth the visit.
Fantastic lush walking grounds. Great variety of ornamental plants and statues. Its quiet and so peaceful. The garden center is lovely. Lunch at Avoca was a nice finish to the day.
Delightful place, immaculate gardens and a peaceful place with beautiful walks and landscape. Avoca restaurant has excellent meals and high prices to match. A lovely arrangement of shops and garden centre to browse and pick up the odd item.
This is a very worth tour as its bringing a very relaxing walk in the nature while letting the eyes and the imagination to explore the amazing gardens. The carefully selected plants and the nice arrangements will relax your brain distracting it from the daily problems. The gardens have a very nice lake as well. The staff was very smile, helpful and polite.
It was a really fun day trip from Dublin! I just wish we could have seen more of the inside but it was really fun to explore all the different parts of the grounds and gardens! Extremely beautiful and we found out it was a location for the movie “The Count of Monte Cristo” which was really cool to see!
Amazing outdoor experience with a very welcoming staff and a clear map!If you are looking for the perfect one day outdoor experience either alone, in a couple or with kids, look no more this is an amazing experience. The full garden tour takes approximately 1 hour if you are going at a normal pace, but can take longer if you go slower and take more time to appreciate the view. The view on the Sugar Loaf is great, and be careful not to miss the pet cemetery, with those funny pet names. Finally, the pepperpot tower is really amusing to see considering its Genesis. We werent able to go up though as it was closed.Be careful as the Google maps directions might be missleading. If you get to the wrong entrance, keep driving on the main road around the gardens, youll find your way in.
We took a bus from Dublin to Enniskerry, and then walked from there to Powerscourt. The entry is about €9 per adult. This is such a great day trip, especially if youre wanting to get out of the city for a while.
Brilliant to visit anytime of year. Beautiful walks and surroundings. Some photos enclosed.Just warning that the garden shop is really overpriced so advice is to shop for your garden needs elsewhere. Even brouchure is evidently money driven with focus on the hotel and the golf course instead of the history of this historical place.
Really lovely & beautiful estate! Make sure you grab a coffee & really take it all in. There are several different gardens and the grounds are really well maintained. Worth the visit if you enjoy gardens & long walks.
A very well maintained formal garden with amazing walk ways and scenic spots. You might me misguided by directions in Google maps leading to a closed gate, better is to go to the Eniskerry town and then follow the sign boards to the estate entrance. The place is well maintained with all required facilities, a nice coffee and snack shop, home grown wool, a plant shop and an infamous distillery. Well worth a days spend with free car parking.Note: The Powerscourt waterfall is 5 kms away from here and is a separate ticket and property altogether.
This was a beautiful place to visit and is definitely a must-visit for photographers and people looking for beautiful shots. Additionally, this is a wonderful place to take family. They have food, a gift shop, and ice cream. Truly a wonderful place to visit and I may even return some day.
One of the most beautiful places in Ireland. If youre neraby, you have to visit. It has a lot to offer in any season but it is the most attractive in early summer (been there in summer and autumn). A lot of amazing vegetation, full of colors, very well-maintained and unusual. I do recommend, you wont regret it :)
Today our members travelled to Powerscourt Gardens for our monthly tour. We were hosted by Alex Slazenger who is the head Gardener. It was a privilege to have been given a Personal tour. Alex gave us a talk on the history of the house and estate and his knowledge of this subject was fascinating as was the talk he gave us on the Gardens and gardening. In particular his knowledge of trees is second to none and whilst listening to him it is easy to discern that trees are his passion. The Autumnal colours in the gardens are amazing, the Japanese gardens are a sight to behold and the Italian garden is spectacular. Fifteen of our members travelled and all agreed that these gardens are absolutely splendid . This is tourist attraction that I recommend to all.
The house and gardens are absolutely beautiful with the mountains in the background, lovely trees, flowers, lawns, and more. The Japanese garden is a great highlight. The only criticism is that the waterfall its not included in the cost of the gardens which is a shame. I have been to see the waterfall before and it is nice.
The following pictures are all coming from FREE parts of the park. The garden is not worthy a more than 10 euros ticket but 2 euros maximum. It is so boring to see compared real Chinese or Japanese Garden… It is only a normal place.I like this place but I won’t go the the garden for twice. I would see the scenery near the gate and eat afternoon tea in the cafe. That’s the best part of this place.
The title of 3rd best garden in the world is greatly deserved! Beautiful estate and spellbinding garden and grounds! We found the estate very child-friendly. We will definitely be going back for another visit - theres so much to see!
