Rustic roadhouse serving Tex-Mex fare, steaks & other American favorites with full bar & happy hour.
Stopped in for a thermo coffee refill. Loved the interior and the BBQ smelled good. Wish we werent on a time crunch or would have liked to have tried their BBQ.
We are new comers to town and wanted to try something a little different. Our experience here was unpleasant. The staff was not nice. When arriving we stood waiting for 25 mins before being seated even though there were multiple clean tables about. Once seated we did receive our drinks soon following putting in our order. We waited for over an hr before receiving our meal. We both got pasta and one was nice and warm where the other cold. The taste was ok followed by a greasy texture. We would have much rather saved our time and money with a McDonald’s hamburger.
My girl friend had the petite rib eye steak and mashed potatoes with green chile gravey. I had the green chile chicken enchiladas. The service was very attentive and friendly but the steak was grilled to perfection and potatoes were absolutely delicious. The enchiladas were very delicious. Great experience highly recommend.
Nice atmosphere, brought us an extra item that wasnt ordered. My son in law received his order but wasnt what he had ordered. Over charged us for the item that wasnt ordered. Will we ever stop by when we are in the area, probably not.
I waited two hours for my dinner. The steak I ordered was given to someone else. When it finally arrived, it was not a top quality steak. The waitress offered to give me a free drink. After all that I was still charged for the dinner. I felt it should have been free. The only redeeming factor was that some Brazilian tourists traveling Route 66 offered to pay for my dinner. But that had nothing to do with restaurant policy!!
Wasnt a great experience food was good staff was good but too many items that were on the menu were not available not a good way to treat a customers
A small town restaurant and bar with ample food portions and good margaritas for a fabulous price. Sat in the bar area and watched the game. Waiter was prompt and friendly. I would return again.
Great food, lots of variety. We came at a weird time-3pm-and the food was still fresh and good. Great value for the money, too!
I was seated quickly, the waitress promptly took my drink order. She gave me plenty of time to check out the menu. Food came in good order and was hot and satisfying. Only downside is the bar opens into the dining area and could get noisy.
I wanted to like it, but it was disappointing from the service to the food. No tequila in margarita, our waitress ignored us...no soap in bathroom. So, servers cant wash hands either. Portions were small. It was just bad.
Called in an order for take out. Arrived to this establishment then proceeded to wait for over an additional hour for 2 burritos... While clearly being ignored by staff.... Never got the burritos (by the wayor even a call back regaurding our order... Terrible service 😔
Walked across from the hotel for some beers and mixed drinks. Bartender and all the servers, etc were very nice and attractive too. 😎 Got dinner and it was delicious.Recommend the Stuffed Sopaipilla, the Jalapeno Melt and the wings!P. S. Fun paintings, weird artwork and cool old timey photos from 1930s 1950s Route 66 Tucumcari.
Fabulous bartender.Over priced drinks.Mediocre food. Side order Tamale soggy and no meat or sauce.Order of guacamole equaled maybe 3 tablespoons worth.Tostado a joke. If there were beans you could hardly see or taste.Very disappointing. Was hoping for at least average.
I recommend the Lizards Special -Its Rib Eye Steak with Enchiladas and I swear its awesome - steak was delicious cooked rare - So Good. Friendly staff and a lot of fun.
They didnt have many items that were on the menu, no porterhouse steaks, no rib eyes and no New York strip steaks. We werent notified that these werent available until we had placed our orders. I ordered an appetizer that never came.. The steaks that were served were poor quality and the baked potatoes were under cooked and cold. We were a party of six, they brought out two peoples meals and they were almost finished eating before the next two meals were brought out, they were finished by the time the last two meals were brought out. It was an incredibly long wait for the food. One person in our party ordered three different beers which they also did not have. There were only about eight other people dining while we were there, it was not busy during the time we were there, about 2 and 1/2 hours. I will not be back.
First timers, riding through Tucumcari on our way home from a trip. The best Mexican food Ive eaten. Great art work on the walls. Our new to go place when in town.
At least they are open later than most others. Only reason I gave two stars, should have been one, the beer was cold, that is if they actually have it in stock. After several attempts to order a beer from the beer list, finally had to ask the waitress what they did have that was cold. Food is nothing to brag about. Ordered a jalapeño cornbread patty melt, as we were told its one of the best, there was no cornbread. It came out on rye bread. Didnt want to send it back as it was getting late on a Friday night and most of us know what might happen if you send something back when the cooks are trying to leave for the night, this place would definitely be one of those places. Probably not going back, would rather eat an MRE or mountain house backpacking meal in the hotel.
We arrived 10 minutes before the kitchen closed. The staff were super friendly and let us eat. Our waitress was so attentive and polite. The chef made our food quick and to perfection. I ate the BLT and the bacon was exactly the way I like it. I even ate the french fries and I dont like french fries! My husband had chicken enchiladas and he said they were amazing. We will be visiting here again! The atmosphere is very nice. The murals were so realistic I thought we were sharing a table with another couple!! Thank you Pow Wow staff for the truly fabulous experience!FYI the restaurant closes at 9 PM. The bar is open till 10 PM for drinks/no food. Google wont change the time.
The food was very good, service was prompt with a fun sense of humor. The interior is up to date with a nostalgic touch for Route 66. There is an outdoor screened patio and live band on Fridays. Margaritas are also very good!
Great apps and super nice staff! The murals are actually of local customers!
Cool place with good food, service, and fun atmosphere. The enchiladas and tacos were good. Santa Fe 7k IPA on tap was excellent.
We didn’t get a lot to eat as we were just passing through and getting a small to-go order. But, I will say that in the short time I was there, I was super impressed with the kindness and hospitality of the staff!
Went there on the recommendation from The Blue Swallow. Food was great, servers were over whelmed due to Fathers day customers. As we waited couldnt help but notice the pictures painted on the walls of the restaurant. They are very life like and will make you think twice.
Dinner was very good. Owners should put 1 more server on the floor when its busy to help. We were lucky to have an amazing server that made our dinner awesome 😊
In town for one night and needed some drinks and dinner after a long day on the road. Sat at the bar and watched some baseball on the TV and chatted with some friendly locals. A few beers on tap including some microbrews Good selection of dishes on the menu with something for everybody - I had some delicious chicken enchiladas. Bartender was also friendly and quick to bring me another beer when my glass was empty
Interesting place with a good selection of food! Check out the wall art and talking lizard! The club sandwich is awesome as well as the staff! The Green Chile was a little bland. This was the only sit down place open in the evening when traveling through Tucumcari. Check this place out!
It was not real green chili. The sopapilia was like something you would get in a Mexican restaurant in Tennessee, flat with honey. We stopped here 5 years ago and it was amazing. Not tonight!
Lovely classic restaurant. Fantastic staff. Great inside.Food was fabulous and quick. Reasonable priced too
We traveled from Logan to Tucumcari to eat here on Sunday night. It wasnt overly busy and we were seated right away. 25 minutes later no waitresses had come to take our drink order. 3 waitresses were working the floor. They all walked by and served other customers. Even the woman who sat us couldnt be bothered to stop by and check on us! We walked out. guess you get served If you are local only.
This restaurant is an old standby in Tucumcari. It has outside and inside dining and a bar. The food is just old fashion good. We had the poblano peppers and the nachos. Both of good serving size and tasty. I could recommend this place.
Great food with excellent service. Had a group of 7 and they sat us in our own room to better accommodate us. Also have a full bar. A must see on Route 66.
Sunday night in Tucumcari and the Pow Wow is the only dinner joint in town except for fast food. Place was packed as I am sure it is every Sunday night this time of year. Our waitress was overwhelmed but jovial. We ordered beer which took an eternity to arrive, we ordered food, which was incorrect upon receiving. She promised chips, which never came, and she promised a discount for the ungodly wait and the messed up food order, which we never got. Do yourself a favor; go to Allsups and get a six pack, stop at Taco Bell for some chalupa and go home and have a better meal at a better price for less hassle.
The people working were very friendly and made us feel welcome. The margaritas were huge and the food was really good! The artwork inside is very fun as well.
stopped in for lunch, split some yummy nachos and drank a few delicious margaritas. SUPER friendly staff
Started out with a house margarita and a pint of Elephants on Parade beer (brewed in New Mexico)…thoroughly enjoyed both. Food was also phenomenal as was Abby our server! We’ll definitely be back!!!!
The food is amazing. Service is al ate friendly.Bartenders appreciated (or pretended to quite well.. 🤣🤣my sense of humor.I feel like a King when i dine here, like the point I seek out the ability to shut my truck down in Tucumcari.
We were excited about this place and then a bit skeptical after reading reviews since the change in mgmt 01/2022… but after a long travel day this place did hit the spot. The service was pretty good, though we came around 8 so I’m sure all the servers were exhausted as it was almost close. The prices were definitely high ($8 quesobut pleasantly surprised the margarita was $6.99 in comparison, although it was watery and lacked flavor. I made sure to ask for no salt based on the reviews I read as they charge $.75 for salt but turns out they also charge $.75 to make it frozen 😅All in all the meals we got (chicken quesadilla & Jalapeño Meltwere delcious and the setting was fun. We left happy and full! Also the marg may have lacked flavor but definitely had tequila - when we stood up to walk out I was somehow startled by the people in the mural we had been sitting next to the whole time, so I do recommend the margs for sure. 🍹
Very cozy with handmade decor. Food was great. Loved the tamales plate. Waitperson was attentive and pleasant. Also very informative about the murals. Highly recommended!
The food was excellent and the atmosphere great. A really cool place on Route 66. We loved it.
Friday night 6:30. Busy but not packed. Seemed well staffed. By 7pm it was packed.Ordered huevos Rancheros even though it wasn’t on the dinner menu.Nice experience and great food.
Awesome experience.Actually went to Dels Restaurant to have a couple drinks with dinner. Found out Dels no longer serves alcohol.Called down to Pow Wow first to make sure they still served. They said yes and even arranged for our ride to the restaurant.Awesome service and some of the best food ever.Drinks are awesome and people are very friendly. Restaurant and lounge is very clean and neat with an awesome decor. We recommend highly to anyone who ventures this way!!!!
My wife and I were driving between Omaha and Tucson several times and Tucumcari is right in there middle. We always made sure to stop here for dinner and cocktails. The southwest cuisine is fantastic. I think the tamales are my favorite so far, but in looking forward to trying more things the next time we drive through.
Was such a great vibe! Burritos w green sauce were phenomenal. Servers were fun and attentive. Try the local Elephants On Parade Beer- excellent! A loud surprise in a quiet town.
Amazing food and service! Highly recommend the Blue Swallow Margarita (recommended by our motel, the Blue Swallowand the chips and Queso! portions are good sized, especially the combo plate! Definitely worth a stop for some food or a drink (or even dessert, we opted for the chimichanga cheesecake!)
At this time... its out door seating only. There are 4 outdoor picnic tables with small umbrellas. The food was good, very edible. The staff was friendly. It was definitely clean. My only complaint would be there wasnt a diaper changing station. I had to make a bed of diapers on the tile floor to change my 1 yr 5 month old granddaughter.
Traveling back home from N.M. to OKC we stopped here for dinner and the next morning for breakfast. The food was great. We had the mexican dinners and mexican breakfast with the green Chillies. The severs were very friendly and informative about Tucumcaris history, and about the artist who painted the artwork. The artist painted the people sitting at the booths and his work can be seen on the businesses around town.Very worth the time and money to eat at this place.Talk to your server, they love to answer your questions about the history of the restaurant and town.
Route 66 aficionado. Stopped for breakfast here.Excellent food, great service. However I think the murals just might surpass the meal. Outstanding, definitely worth stopping by to see.
A wonderful restaurant and bar. Great food with great service. The murals on the walls are really nice and there is a story for each. Ask your waitress. Sunday is a Thanksgiving buffet. Thursdays its a great Mexican buffet. The interior is fantastic and leads you to an enjoyable atmosphere.
Fun place for a meal, especially to check out the beautiful art, not only painted on the walls, but artwork for purchase. Food was good - our waiter very friendly and attentive.
We didn’t really rate our appetiser but for the main course I had the shrimp scampi and it was very nice. Salad bar also had a lovely little selection of fresh tasting salads. Overall, a great little hidden gem!
