Portofino in Luzern

Extremely friendly staff and delicious food!

Wonderful evening. We were lucky to get a table without a reservation. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was AMAZING! We got the pheasant ragu, antipasto, side of fresh pasta, bruschetta , and north Italy beer. All were excellent. I also loved the decor- modern but warm. Highly recommend.

I was in awe when I received my food and took a first bite. Everything was so flavourful and delicious, freshly prepared in house and from the best quality ingredients.I found this place simply because was the closest to the hotel we stayed, just around the corner.Luckily we get last table without the reservation on a busy Thursday evening. The service was good and we got our food quite quickly considering the amount of guests in the restaurant at this point.The menu is not big but Im sure everyone will find something for their taste. I was so hungry I couldnt skip starter, so I ordered bruschetta and it was amazing. The fresh tomatoes were almost sweet and the bread was crunchy. The homemade raviolis with spinach and ricotta accompanied by buttery sauce were melting in my mouth, tagiatelle were perfectly cooked al dente and the sauce rich. I heard the meat was tender and also melted in mouth. I had to try a dessert so I went for panna cotta and they delivered. Sweet and creamy.I would gladly come back if I ever visit Lucerne again. If you love pasta - go and try this place out.

Italian restaurant with reasonable prices. The mussels with white wine has a rich flavour and pasta is delicious

Starving on a Saturday night, decided to have dinner here on our first night in Lucerne. Big mistake. Waited in line to be seated just to be ignored, and possibly racially profiled by 2 female waiters who repeatedly stared at us and walked right past us. It’s busy, that is fine. However, one of the waiter decided to take in a local couple who came after us and seated them right away. Still, no one acknowledged our presence. Then, one of them proceed to ask us to dine elsewhere because they’re very short staffed. Unable to comment on the food but the service is definitely lacking. Busy or not, please respect all your customers and treat everyone equally.

Really delicious food

There are many good and even great italian restaurants in the city. Very few however with personality. Its not just great food and friendly staff but that personal attention that makes Portofino one of our favorites. Instead of a stiff crowd staring silently down on a steril piece of culinary art, quietly sipping on a glass of ridiculously expensive grape juice and hoping that nobody notices their secret desire to escape you see happy people enjoying a fantastic meal with friends and family, laughing and having a good time. Its that feeling of home and family where you can be yourself and relax while enjoying a scrumptuous meal. At Portofino there are no strangers just newly found friends. The food is authentic, pasta al dente and the scaloppine perfectly seasoned on point. The menu is classic. The presentation clean and crisp.

I would give it a sixth star if I could. Alesh and family know how to provide great food and wonderful hospitality. We would go there regularly if we lived in Luzern.

5 stars for location , ambiance , and amazing food, staff and service. The bruschetta was amazing, truffle pasta and risotto were soo good, homemade fresh pasta and shaved truffle. Quality ingredients & Deep flavors.

Lovely food, service and atmosphere!

We booked last minute for a Friday night with friends, we had a pleasant dinner. Fine cuisine supported by a friendly, competent and efficient service, I couldnt ask more.

Arrabiata was fresh and the beef was just amazing. Beer is crisp and fresh as well. Highly recommend.

Fantastic dining experience in Luzern. Aleš, the owner, was a gracious host, selecting some fantastic wine to pair with Italian classics and innovative specials. I had sat down in the mood for pasta but in the end I had a sampling of Bison based dishes and a rich linguine al chef on the side. Highly recommend if in the mood for Italian or something new with an Italian twist, you won’t regret it.

Best Italian Restaurant in Town !Unique kitchen & service !

Service is excellent, restaurant is beautiful (inside and the terrace as well), and the food is phenomenal and well-priced. Try the Portofino fish (Ligurian styleand any of their homemade pastas (including the tagliolini with truffles).

I have never had a better Italian meal! Linguini and Risotto cooked perfectly and Tiramisu was to die for! The service and waitstaff were attentive and accommodating. This is the place to go when in Lucerne

We had our Family Dinner @ Portofino to celebrate August 1st. The Menue is small but sharp. The Kitchan is excellent and so was the Aperitif and the Wine Selection on recommendation of the Chef.Sadly we felt very disturbed by an Italian speaking Groupe sitting on the terrasse in front of our table.With out any reason they were unbelievable rude to our table and to the Staff working in the Restaurant. Without that rude Table our evening would have been amazingly perfect!

best restaurant in town!

Dinner was really nice - pastas... Very generous portions and very friendly, professional service. Salad was delicious also.Some minor issues- I personally wasnt a big fan of the Italian beers I tried (was told their beer tap wasnt working, so could only have the bottled beer that night; yet it seemed a patron who came in later than me had the tap beer?!?. Also, my wife mentioned that she couldnt taste not spot any Basil in her pasta even though the menu stated it in the dish.

Sorry but I dont speak german or italian, where is the english menu?

The restaurant is located in a quiet pedestrian street, with a terrasse so children can play during the lunch.I took a fish and it was very well prepared, well cooked with vegetables coming along. The wine was good as well. The service was friendly and professional.

Probably the best Italian food Ive ever had in a Swiss restaurant. Alesch and Jessy are an amazing new team - expect this place to become super popular very quickly.
