Portobello Bistro - Italian restaurant in Chumphon, Thailand
Great place, the good smell made ilia come inside from the street. We took pizza, Caesar salad and pasta and it was great!!!
Very average. Nice setting but crab and smoked salmon ravioli was tasteless, crab was dry and ravioli was tough and not cooked fully at all
This is a nice place to have some Italian food in koh tao, there is a big selection of dishes and the prices are reasonable for the quality of products. If you are looking for something other than thai food i would recommend giving this place a try.
Great gnocchi! Great pizza !Best atmosphere!
Very good experienceGood food and nice environment
Disappointing pizza which was soggy and pasta was quite bland
Delicious Beef lasagna!! Good prices and professional staff. Recomendable 100%
Wow!!! The chef and staff are really passionate about their Italian food and it reflects in the dishes. We ate the most amazing pasta and ravioli and he even made a special vegan pasta for me.Go there!!
Great ravioli and very nice workers! Would definitely recommend.
Good Italian restaurant, which offers delicious italian food and wine. Nice atmosphere!
Delicious food.....i had great dinner at this place .......
Best Italian food outside of Italy
Good food. Nice place, clean toilets. Service a bit slow but no too bad. Very nice choice, good pizzas, fresh products. Just need to mention that its not cheap, and looking at the wine list you might easily spend a nice amount. So please wake up, its 2019, and nobody understands why such a classy place does not accept card payment. But on the counter lies a huge iMac....(Edit in 2022: they still dont accept cards. This country likes cash without tracing?)
We didn’t have main meal, we have some appetizers. They were good, nothing extra special.
Great food and decent prices.
Nothing to do with Italy or even the countries around Italy.
tasty!! you gotta try it!
Went there hoping for an authentic Italian dinner, but all we got was an uninspiring menu. The carbonara was nothing like what a carbonara should be in my opinion, it lacked flavor and just tasted like cream and oil.. The pizza was not bad but you can find better for a much lower price. It was not worth the money, because of the high pricing. The staff was really attentive and nice which was the only thing that still made it somewhat of a pleasant experience.
Looks like it has been taken over by locals doesnt feel very authentic. Food average, drinks also average.
Great italian food on the island - especially their pizza!
Pasto chicken, Calzone and chocolate cake were honestly the best things weve had in Thailand. (Westen wise)
Amazing food, great for a carb fix just what we needed. Awesome Ham & Pineapple pizza and bolognese 😍 super cute doggo joined us for dinner as well ! Great service !
One of the best Italian meals I’ve had for a while; certainly a very welcome surprise on a fairly remote island. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m on Koh Tao.
Were 6 ordered different types of food, Everything are amazing!Big portions. Great price. Highly recommended
Great pizza and attentive staff reasonably priced what more can you ask for.
Usually never leave reviews but it was awful. Ordered chicken pesto and the chicken was undercooked. had to ask them to recook it again. The pesto and pasta was way too greasy. Not the standard you are looking for and not worth the price. I had also asked them to change the pasta type to penne from whatever they had on the menu. I ended up being charged 150 baht for “customizing menu”. Like what? Only changing the pasta to penne. Unacceptable. They should have made the client aware first that there would be a charge for changing the menu not just show it on the bill after you have eaten the food. It’s unheard of. What a Rip off. Understand they are trying to make money during Covid but I still wouldn’t support this type of mentality.
Great food with great prices!
Great food and friendly staff. Half price pasta night is great value.
Great restaurant in a street parallel wth the main walking street. They have and decent size menu of both pasta and pizzas as well as other delights. There is almost something for everyone. The food is fresh delicious and generous. The staff are friendly and helpful and the service was good. Definitely a must if you feel like good Italian
Decent food, decent service, definitely a place to go if you fancy a Italian.
The best food we had in whole Thailand! Nicely priced, and they dont charge you 17% like loads of places ....but if you do like the service wont hurt give 10% to the waiters . I prefer this way instead of having automatically on the bill . Was a wonderful experience, we went there twice in our 24h stay over . Best island too in my opinion ( many more to see but this is my favourite so far.
Great food! Highly recommended
Good food and attentive staff. We had the pizza and pasta. Both were very nice.
Awesome food!!! We came here by coincidence and were so pleasantly surprised. We were four people who ordered a variety of different dishes and everyone was raving. Much recommended
Loved it. Great Italian food, great atmosphere and the service was spot on. Also love the eco friendly approach with reusable straws and water bottles. Just go!
Honestly this is the best restaurant on the whole island. I’ve been coming here for years and every time I look forward to coming back here specifically. Awesome food and reasonable prices.
Really friendly service, great food at a reasonable price and a beautiful little restaurant itself. Highly recommend trying it out!
I was excited to eat here based on the reviews, but my carbonara was totally flavorless. They didn’t offer to remake my plate which I found to be pretty ridiculous. so I guess I’ll head over to the pizzeria (which has a pretty decent carbonara, if you’re looking for some).
Came here the night before an early morning dive session and ordered 2 entrees and an appetizer. All of them were delicious. Finding good Italian food on Koh Tao was a pleasant surprise.
The pizza was delicious and fairly priced. The appetizers, however, were tiny and not made with as much gusto as the Pizza. The special ravioli were not bad, however 10 raviolis do not justify a 300THB price tag. The waiters were somewhat helpless, as they left plates on the table very long and ignored us on multiple occasions when we called for them
The homemade pasta was cooked to perfection. Thin, crispy pizza crust. Unlike most of Thailand, all meals come out together.
Absolutely amazing. Never in a million years thought that there would be great Italian in Thailand’s, but this is the best Italian I’ve ever had. Went with a group of six and everyone was blown away
Not only the best Italian I had in Thailand but probably one of the best Italian I’ve ever had (and I’ve been to Italy). Amazing. Definitely coming back again.
Freshly made pasta. Accepts Thai money. Us$. Clean. Wine and beer. Friendly. Boutique. Authentic Italian. Large menu. Recommended
Been trying to be good about eating local Thai food for the past two weeks but I needed some pizza this time. So glad I came to this place. Very good pizza!
Meant to review this place a while ago and havent had time. My husband and I had been waiting to try this place for the extent of our time on Koh Tao and finally went in one night. Waited ten minutes for a server to come to our table, got sick of waiting so we waived a server down. We ordered drinks (tiny wine portionsand then after the server brought our drinks we had to wait another ten minutes to order food... again- had to waive the server down (by the way, this place was being run by westerners). By the time our server made it back to our table, we ordered an appetizer which was basically overpriced prawns SWIMMING in some gross mayonnaise sauce. Fortunately, we hadn’t ordered our mains and told the server we wanted the check as we didn’t want to be disappointed any more than what we had already been. The way I see it is that if you’re paying western prices, you expect a little more than the crappy service and food we got that night. There were 5 tables being occupied. 5 TABLES and at least 3 servers. The place wasn’t packed by any means. After leaving, we went to Hippo Grill and had a fantastic meal, and were really just thankful we got out of Porto Bello before we had wasted any more money. Super disappointing unfortunately.
This place is one of the must visit restaurants in Koh Tao if you wish to have european style food.Delicious dishes, quality wine and drinks and friendly staff.
This place was SO great. The food was amazing and the staff are even better. Its English owned and they operate with a really nice atmosphere and seem to really look after their staff. The prices were at the top of our budget but it was genuinely worth every last Baht for our crab ravioli. Dreamy.
After one week on Koh Tao I would like to eat Pizza. It was a really tasty thin pizza! So, if you are hungry for a pizza have a try there, its worth it!
Not very good. Food took like 3 minutes go get. Took the bruchetta with mushrooms and goat cheese, the bread was soggy and it had no special flavours. Also very pricey
