Roomy, brick-lined bar & grill is one of an in-state chain serving Louisiana-accented American chow.
Nice place and good bar food. Kaylee is the best bartender!
The service and food were both horrible. I ordered takeout and when I realized I didn’t get half my order I tried calling but no one would answer the phone
Ill never return. This place is dark and the service was awful. The greeter at the door never moved from her position of having her feet propped up and typing on her cell phone. Our server never came back to check on us. I had to go find her at one point to ask for appetizer plates and napkins. The table was dirty and the food here is not good. We had a large party so the check was very large as well. Our patronage was clearly not appreciated. I didnt complain because I was invited and didnt want the person who picked this place to be uncomfortable or feel bad. This type of service is a reflection of poor managememt.
I have eaten here numerous times. Today I ordered red beans and rice. It tasted like pure vinegar. The vinegar taste was so strong it was gagging. I will never order this again. And, unless you like the taste if vinegar you shouldn’t either. $8.00 wasted.
The restaurant was extremely dirty, not just not wiped down, I almost couldnt find a table to sit at due to every one covered in dirty paltes.I requested a burger called the Room, which was tasty and funky definitely something to recommend. Like all stakehouse/B&G burgers it was a bit oversized but definitely an experience itself. Swiss and sautéed mushrooms gave a strong flavor the patty was well salted and was plenty juicy and crusted. Tomato, pickle, lettuce, and bun. Did their part nothing was wasted.Waitstaff was friendly and attentive, and along with the food completely distracted me from the dirty surroundings. The price was fair and as was a lunch no appetizers, desserts, or drinks were tried.I do look forward to trying a dinner trip and giving a more rounded review.
Horrible I paid 16 and also provided a tip and my order was wrong and the manager didnt do anything to make thing right. Please dont waste your money or time with these rude people
Ordered a salad without lettuce just salad toppings only, and they still put lettuce on it. Ordered the chicken pasta and it was plentiful but it barely had any Alfredo sauce on it so it was basically just chicken and pasta. It was dry I could not eat it. Very disappointed because I was looking forward to it.
Went to Portico for Father’s Day lunch ( Sunday with my wife and our two boys aged 8 and 11. Asked to sit near the bar area as they have high top tables within viewing of several TVs and we wanted to watch the PGA US Open of Golf. We were told no and that Only on Sundays they reserve the area for adults only. Just seemed Bass Ackward to me myself and I would think that most establishments would do whatever within reason to make a guest happy. Just my opinion and i am not perfect by any means. For this I leave one star.
This is now a good restaurant at all we have a party of 25 people and the service is bad. It took forever to get severed. The food was extra terrible. Chicken was severed with a pound of grease under it. Please do not go to this place.
Great service..! The blacken catfish was just what I wanted.Update: Fried catfish basket was wonderful.Update: Kids menu is amazing.
Food was great. But the service was slow, I understand new workers but dont need to sit across on a phone. Maybe next time will be better. Over all tasty food is the plus.
Wonderful food and has nice variety. Clean establishment. Didnt take long too long. My family and I will be returning soon.
I loved my shrimp and grits. I ate it so fast I apologize for not posting a picture. It was delicious ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Food and service was ok. Paid with cash, had to ask for my receipt.
Good food, service was good for how busy/servers available. Excellent place right off main strip.
1000% agree with the harsh remarks. Literally went and had about 3 negative interactions before my guest and I were even seated. We still dined because it was their place of choice. Never desired to return. We know how things usually have a way of not going in our favor so I played it cool. I don’t recommend Portico to anyone coming to Monroe Louisiana. Also the flies are out of control. Flies and other small gnat like insects.
Food was ok...Staff was better...Decent place to eat I reckon..just couldnt give it a full 5 stars
Good place for lunch. Friendly service. Clean. Good location. Fast food delivery.
Stopped by for a late lunch. One of the few restaurants in the area that is open after lunch rush. Nice setting, great service, and good food. I enjoyed the Shrimp Massey. If you are in the area, good place for lunch.
The Chicken Alfredo was wonderful. But to charge $3.99 for a small side salad to go with your pasta is ridiculous. Most other restaurants provide a side salad with your pasta.
Loved getting to spend time with one of my longest and best friends entire family. Food was really good! Macy did an exceptional job of taking care of our large group with ease. She was truly wonderful!
Service was entirely too slow for any restaurant. Literally watched our server playing on her phone for THIRTY MINUTES waiting for a refill. Food was decent after a 50 minute wait but definitely not worth the wait
I ate at portico, Sunday for brunch! I was sitting there waiting for my food, and had the order taken twice. I am disappointed with how long it took, and I was trying to overlook that. My eggs ended up being cold, and I never got my potatoes, but the French toast was very good. The waitress charged me for the wrong food, and then fixed it, and I had two charges on my card, so that was lovely. I may give this place another shot, but I definitely did not have the best experience.
35 dollar steak 50% fat 🥺Great place, wonderful service.Sides great. It was my first visit B.D.Sadly I know where to get a better steak. 50 total , left hungry.
Food was good, but service was slow. This was after the lunch rush too. You could hear way too much gabbing going on.And the bathrooms need some work. Looked like a run down outhouse. Very filthy.
Will never go back. Food was great but service was no where to be found...literally. Was there 30 minutes without a drink and had to ask hostess to take my drink order because our server never came to the table. Took almost an hour to get our food and then it was not right. This doesn’t work when you’re on a lunch break and have to get back to work.
Arrived for lunch. Excellent Hawaiian chicken. Salad with incredible vinaigrette dressing. Superb service. Awesome art. Yummy fries. Mahi mahi real good. Grilled chicken portico sandwich very good as well. Lovely interior booth, nice for privacy.
Food was good. Customer service couldnt be worse. Ordered take out, noticed at home that one of the meals was missing a big part of the dish (no grits in the shrimp and grits). Its a 30 min drive so i called. The girl in the phone first argued that "at least the sauce with the shrimp in it was there" and said i could come back and get the missing portion. I told her it was 30 min plus drive. She said "well i dont know then" i asked if theyd be willing to refund that entree she said shed have to have the manager call me back. After 24 hrs of no call back i called again. Same girl answered said shed make sure he calls this time. That was yesterday, still no call. I would have been happy with just about anything to correct for the ruined dinner with my family. But nothing short of driving 30 mins was offered. And that came after a bit of argument.
The service was good as always. They accommodated our group of 8 with no issues.
Well +o start, I was Invited to go. I ordered Southern Fryed Catfish w/mac & cheese, Well it wasnt filet, i+ was Belly meat. Not Good at all. AS I stated I was invited so cant complain to much, right? I wont go back unless someone else Payes. The Waitstaff was Great, The food not so much.
This place is awesome! Great food and drink options. Friendly staff. Lots of TVs in the bar area.
First time here. Had a horrible time. The atmosphere is gorgeous however the food is a 1/10. We ordered the chips and queso. The qeuso was a little watery but still good. The chips were burnt. We ordered the grilled chicken kabob with Mac and cheese and asparagus. The asparagus was burnt thus dry. The Mac and cheese tasted stale and old and the chicken didn’t have flavor. We told our server this she took our food away and said we would have to pay half for the meal even though we didn’t eat anything but a small bite of each.... so we decided to just pay full price since the money was an issue for them.
Sat at the table for 5 min before anyone said anything to us, ordered the chips and queso the dip was fine the chips tasted burnt. Ordered the grilled chicken kabob with mac n cheese and asparagus chicken tasted like water no flavor and box Mac n cheese taste better than their’s. After taking less than 3 bites I tried to return the food, they said they would still have to charge me half and didn’t offer to replace the Entree so in order to not be ripped off I said I would take the full order to go.Because who wants to pay half for food they didn’t eat ? ? ?The atmosphere was cool if you wanted to have a couple beers and watch the game.
2nd time eating here, both times were a disaster. First time took over 1 hour to get the chicken tenders I ordered, when they were not even busy. No refills for extended periods of time. 2nd time ordered the 8oz sirloin medium, came out burnt on both sides and no pink in sight (read: well donewill not be returning. Asked for a manager both times and they claim they had to call him “he just left”
Wait staff was a bit slow but the food was good and the atmosphere was good. Great for afternoon family lunch on Saturday.
We have been here many times before. Was always good. Was. The drink I ordered just tasted like watered down orange juice. I ordered the portico pasta, which is supposed to be with green onion, red bell peppers, in a mushroom sauce. If that was mushroom sauce, I am the queen of england. My husband got the low country dish, which is always delicious.Yeah, not anymore. Its a shadow of its former self. Its too bad.We wont be back. There are plenty of other, better restaurants to choose from. But, portico, if you go back to your low country recipe from days gone by, let us know.
I ordered the ribeye, my favorite steak for flavor. It was cooked to perfection, but was so full of gristle and fat that it was NOT EDIBLE. Waitress asked about it as I pushed plate away after just a few bites. I explained the problem and she asked if I wanted to box it up to take home. Hell no! If I cant eat it here how do you expect me to eat it at home. No mention if I might want to see a manager or get something else to eat. Will not be back anytime soon!
This restaurant was alright. We went for a casual dinner. We tried the Shrimp IN Grits and it was fair, though not what we expected (it was a shrimp inside a grits inside some sort of breaded crust and drenched in a cream sauce). We then checked out a Crabby Patty which was very good and a Flatboy Sandwich which was basically a French dip (and on a different level tbh). Service was alright, food was alright, we had a good time.
We were there for brunch, celebrating our Granddaughters wedding. There were about 22 of us. We had one waitress, it took over 1 hour for her to take our orders. Then they were brought out one or two at a time. Some were thru eating before some of us even got our order! First time I have ever been there and dont believe we will be back.
Cozy restaurant atmosphere to gather with friends and family for a casual get together. Moderately priced, well-seasoned food prepared by a chef and served by attentive waitstaff. Good selection of local craft beer and wine. Tables, booths and separate small rooms with local artists’ artwork make dining choices convenient as well as fun. Bar area also serves food and is a great place to enjoy sports on tv.
Sunday afternoon was the first time my friends and I had visited Porticos since the new owner. I hate to say that I was slightly disappointed. Our server was very friendly but not as attentive as would be necessary. It took way to long for our appetizer to come out and when it finally did, it was cold. However, the food was very good. Also the two for one burger special use to come with a side and we were slightly disappointed to find they do not anymore. We ordered a burger and a chicken sandwich. We also asked for all the fixings (lettuce, tomatoe, etcto be on the side but it all came on the burger/sandwich. We also ordered a large french fry but they brought us a small plate. The food was good. The prices are mediocre.
I decided to have my birthday dinner here this year. Usually the food is really good, especially during lunch. Im unsure of what the circumstances were on this night, but the food was not satisfying. Several people in my party had to keep returning their food. The food was semi-warm. There was larger party group also there on this night. I cant say the reason for the quality of the food that night, but I was disappointed.
Weve been to the Monroe and Ruston locations. Both have great service and excellent food. Shrimp and grits appetizer is yummy, and the low country boil is amazing... Id ask for the sauce on the side next time because its swimming in it, but its still delicious. I forget what my husband ordered, but he loved it as well.
Food was decent little to salty tho, but the service just sucked. Our waitress Morgan came to our table one time to refill our glasses. Refilled everyones around us several times, but when ours were empty we had to get up and to ask someone. Never checked on us to see how everything was or anything.
Food was excellent (5 Stars), service was good, (4 stars), right up to the point where the waitress chose not to bring any change back to table from a cash payment & asked IF we needed change. FYI an exceptional waitstaff brings back change and in appropriate bills to get a super exceptional tip. It doesnt matter if my change is $0. 50 or $50 you bring it back and I will tip you probably more than appropriately.
My friends and I enjoyed a nice lunch outside on the patio. Service was excellent, and the food was great. The price was a little high for the portion size, and the food was a tad bit salty. However, the service, food quality, and ambience made for a nice overall dining experience. Ill definitely visit again.
We were seated quickly on a Friday night, served quickly and politely, and our food was all excellent. I had a Philly cheese steak, which is a newer menu item they said, my wife had crab cakes and fried green tomatoes, and our friends split a ribeye. All very good.
Its more of a bar and the menu has all most nothing on it but the foods ok but its way to loud
Blackened redfish, green beans and corn. Probably the best blackened fish I’ve ever had… This place is five stars all day long!
Bacon wrapped shrimp was amazing. Small portion but totally worth it. My friend said his fish sandwich was perfect. I was sadly disappointed by the gumbo, a little hot sauce turned it around though. Not enough of an issue to drop a star. Atmosphere was casual. Everything looked well maintained and clean.
