Place Simon Vollant, 59800 Lille, France, Haubourdin
Arch monument built in the 17th century to commemorate Louis XVI's capture of the city.
Lille This is my city for shopping, walking and family time
Super ok
Okay monument, a bit underwhelming.
The place is beautiful, but there are a lot homeless living there.
Beautiful place!
Serene place with a nice view of the monument
We went to the porte de paris after some must see tips for Lille. We went on a sunny day, around 11.30 and it was really quit so we could make some pictures. The garden looked nice, so the reviews below aren’t relevant anymore.
Great city to visit lots to do need more public toilets had a great steak meal
Beautiful place
Worth to watch the Port de Paris.
A captivating monument! Was abit surprised to see that the bridge houses homeless people :/. Nonetheless, very beautiful and magnificent.
Beautiful and historic place
Good place
Beautiful area. Whether was more then perfect
Beautiful monument. We also saw a parade of new university students, a traditional thing that happens in September every year to let the city know that freshmen have arrived.
Quite impressive, a remarkable monument. I suggest combining with a visit to Jean-Baptiste Lebas Park.
Its cute. Nice for a few photos.
Expansive but everything there what you need for your shopping
It is a little bit small but very nice monument. The only thing I had a problem with was that if you want to take some pictures to see whole the monument, but in the same moment not from far, you need to stop in the middle of the road - but drivers are evidently used to that.
Very nice!
Interesting monument that seems to be well maintained
Porte de Paris: Arch monument built in the 17th century to commemorate Louis XVIs capture of the city. The Beffroi de Lille is next to this iconic monument. Those who want to see the birds eye view of the city of Lille should definitely visit the Beffroi. The pics are from the Beffroi.
Its a beautiful lavish gate. Loved seeing the sight of it.
Underwhelming!! No information about the monument , not even a plaque of the history of the gate.
Nice place for take a photo and visit Lille
Very beautiful!
One of the land marks of Lille. Well maintained and interesting.
At face value, its not that impressive. Perhaps knowing a bit about its history can make it more interesting. If you happened to be around the area, it may be worth swinging by. But it is not something you go to see specifically.
Interesting if you have a guide to explain the history but unfortunately there are no information signs here to read if youre on your own.
The old port leading to Paris from te walled Lille. It has a lot of different symbols to spot representing Luis XIV the Sun King. Look at the sides and you will find the Mars and Hercules that represent the powerful King.Behind you can see the City Hall and in from there is a little lovely coffee shop. We started the walking tour from there and we learn a lot!!
It is a great City very Nice historys buildings
Spectacular monument. The symmetry of the gardens is best enjoyed from the Belfrey towering above it. There is a lovely little restaurant at the bottom where we enjoyed the play du jour for 15 Euro.
Great place to meet a free tour guide!
One has to see Lille (Reiselfor a few days. Fantastic city trip.
Impressive arch monument built in the 17th century to celebrate the capture of Lille by Louis XVI. Beautiful flowers grow there in the Spring, what makes the arch even more attractive!
Worth the walk out of the Lille city center. The gardens below are gorgeous.
Nice n historic place!
Nice gate with little garden downstairs. The Beffroi is just meters away. Watch out when crossing the street. Donnot die just for taking a photo.
Its so beautiful 😍
Good place to walk around but Nothing special to see.
Easily accessible safe to take photos very beautiful monument
Its right next to hotel de ville in Lille where the citys mayor sits. As the porte itself serves as a roundabout, its only there as an aesthetic monument with nice sculptures and an artistic mini-garden.
Nice monument, but sad to see the homeless people living under it.
A very impressive victory arc! The free walking tours run from under the arc, and its a very easy to find landmark!
Historical Landmark. Very nice.
The gate is quite pretty, the area itself wasnt particularly nice, the gate is a bit outside of the city center so youll need to take a walk to get there
Beautiful little arch monument at the south of the centre lille. Has a beautifully landscaped mini garden and a gate too.
Beautiful building, garden full of weeds. Not much to do but just look at it.
Its very beautiful place in France
Nice architecture. Sign on door are obsolete.Secretary upstairs didnt open door.Apparently, you can not visit the building...Beware of homeless leaving on the left side of the building, and strong smell of urine :-(
