Portage Lakes State Park Beach in Wooster

My first time being there went and Fireworks were amazing, but parking was awful and leaving 45 mins no help directing traffic

Had a blast with my husband and kids meet new friends had a great time fireworks was amazing

Unimpressed. The beach itself is rather unkept. No changing area. 2 outhouses that at least one was gross. Nice playground though.

My son loves it here theres a park to play on the playground and a beach to play in sand and the water its not the cleanest but it works

cool place but dont drink the water lol

I cant say anything bad about this place but, if you plan on being there for awhile, make sure you have your picnic basket.

it was nice seeing families get together and have fun park ranger made sure things were good and everyone safe

I thought I already wrote a review for this. Its one of my favorite parks. Theres a dog park there and a bunch of other areas for like swimming fishing boating hiking playground. 💜💜💜

One of the only places you can still swim after "season ". Great Kids play area

My grandsons and daughter spent the day at the beach. We had so much fun! We had a picnic lunch. 90% of the people there are families jut just having a good time. There’s an awesome playground for the children to play. The only downside is there’s a lot of goose Pooh on the beach. I would definitely recommend taking your family for a day at the park ,swimming and fun

This is funny but also a Horrible idea I had the other day LOL I thought you could actually have fun and visit this STATE PARK but apparently you have to live in the homes that are on top of one another around the lakes LOL! I wont be going back.

I use this park for early morning swimming and running, the park is normally very clean and well maintained.

Playground is nice beach are could use some work the water was nasty died fish floating on top of water seaweed and nasty muck needs work nice place to have a cookout but I wouldnt swim in it

We always have lots of fun. They have picnic tables and grills.And theres lots of wildlife to be seen here. Such as Fish,Hawks,Seagulls, Geese and if you stay long enough you will see bats high in the sky. It is really something to see.

Very nice beach to take the kids to! Everyones spaced out enough . Ill take the kids again!

Love it here! Nice beach and swimming area! Nice volleyball courts! Nice disc golf course! Needs pavilions and maybe some coin operated lockers. But still awsome!

Took the grandbabies there and everyone had a great time.The beach wasnt overly crowded and there was shade to relax in on the beach as well.

Water was warm. Was not very crowded so that was good. The docs are rotting and falling apart. They also have all the bathrooms closed

Theres some "seaweed" type stuff here but overall a clean beach with plenty of space. Dont forget your floaty!

Nice partly shaded dog park. On the small side and the water looks questionable, but otherwise pleasant.

Great place to come to get away. You can use the dog park, enjoy the beach, place disc golf, relax in the woods and so much more. We just enjoyed some hammock time in the woods but still was perfect. Highly recommend!

5 stars for being free, this is a great beach to hangout at. The swimming area is small, would be better for boating/ kayaking. Or to just take a dip in to cool off. Overall a great park very beautiful area

One of the better public beaches in the area. You obviously aren’t going to have it to yourself on a nice summer weekend but it has been too over crowded when I’m there either. Great cookout/swim/hang/stroll spot.

My family love this place. No life guards so were free to enjoy the beach as it is attended to. Fishing is decent if you dont fish where everyone else is. And its free!

Really nice beach with a place to grill and park for the little ones to play! Perfect place for spending all day with the kids

The beach looked great today - well raked and clean. My girls had a great time in the water. Ot wasnt too crowded either.

An amazing place to take your family for a day of swimming, barbecuing and just relaxing as you like! Theres boat ramps nearby and 2 cleaner than average outhouses! Fishing is definitely on par for the area. Enjoy! We did!

The kids and dog can swim at the beach while I fish from the kayak and keep an eye on them❤

Love it there. And I dont mind petting all the dogs but if you bring your dog to a park WHERE KIDS PLAY... Clean up after it.

I love this park and it will forever hold a special place in my heart. I have spent many hours there for different activities, 4th of July, swimming, etc. When I started dating again after my divorce, I met a gentleman for breakfast and we decided to go to the park to walk around, sit, talk. We spent 6 hours together that day and have been together every since.

I love this Lake they can turn that swimming area into a beautiful part you can have concerts there like it used to be I remember when the Country Fest used to set up there and set up food you couldnt find a place to sit and there was so many people there this lake has a lot of potential to make it into a great place again

Not always the cleanest and the bathrooms could use a decent clean. Plenty of places to have a picnic. We do like swimming here mostly because it close to home.

Its a nice place to take the family for swimming and cook out. Little crowded for my taste, but its better than a lot of places locally. The element of ignorance hasnt quite fond its way to that neck of the woods yet.

Clean, spacious park with lots to do. My kids always love the beach & the playground, and the huge parking lot is perfect for riding bikes, and theres even a little skate park. The Astronomy Club of Akron has an observatory here and theres a hiking trail thats like a scale model of the solar system with markers along the trail to show the relative distances between each of the planets. We did that a few years ago and it was cool.

Overall the park is satisfying. It offers a variety of hiking trails/paths safe for the whole family(Dogs enjoy also). Grills, basketball ct, volleyball and swimming. That is where ratings drop. The water is very nasty from fuel etc the boats travel right along swimming area. Maybe some kiddie slides or a swing in water and new grills would make this a def. 5 🌟 place

Great place to let the dogs out and run in a fenced off area. The dog park has a dock where the dogs can jump and swim from. The trails and beach are also open to dogs but they must be leashed.

Really nice park. Lots of different spaces to picnic, nice dog park with access to water, nice beach, plenty of port a potties. Lovely spot to soak up the sun and boat watch.

Best place to watch fireworks on the 4th of July!!

Best place in the area to swim and bbq. Beautiful natural setting. Boating and kayaking. We spend Sundays here all summer.

The beach area is large. The dressing rooms are clean. They have picnic tables and grills. You have to watch children who are not strong swimmers because it gets very deep at the end of the swim area. You should watch them closely anyways. Its unguarded. Found trash floating in the water. Need a more convenient and smoother routes for getting heavy coolers and such down to the beach area. There also plenty of large trees for those who dont want to get too much sun.
