Great place to stay of youre in the area! The view of the river is stunning. The mountain behind is very close and you can have wonderful sunsets!Food is very good and served in good portions.The staff is very nice and make you feel always welcome!

Booked one of the cottages which were available when I decided to just call and enquire at Avery reasonable price for 3 people and 2 small dogs. Nice location and good service from Jackie.

What a great service, friendly staff, super clean environment, nice meals safe and secure... Im definitely gonna be coming back again...

Stayed here for a TV production about the Sardine Run. Had a really pleasant stay. The location of the lodge is absolutely breathtaking, and its own jetty for getting in the boats was really nice. Keep in mind that they dont serve lunch, yet breakfast, diner and a bar are available.

Really love their house keeping. The attention to detail is epic. The staff is awesome and very accommodating and the views are beautiful 🥺

Beautiful river views. Dinner was really good quality and tasteful food. Phone reception and wifi was not good.

Wet, Rainy Easter Weekend.Miserable!Boring being indoors, especially when your on a short holiday away!Waste of time and moneyNEVER AT THE LODGE!!!!!My friends and I, with our families; 20 in total,  decided on going to the lodge even though we had wet and rainy weather predicted for the Easter long weekend; 3 chalets and 4 hotel roomsWe were greated by a smiley Este with her boots on, as the grounds were "slushy".We were promptly given our rooms as it was drizzling and the rest of the weekend from the point was a BLAST!!Este and Charles allowed us to use the conference facilities as we planned to cook and dine together. The PSJ staff took care of our every need. It was simply awesome to have the 20 of us  together sharing in the preparations and endulging.Morning coffee on the porch of the hotel rooms watching the rain and the swollen river flow to afternoon drinks at the bar, we enjoyed it all.The rain did not stop our party. Our kids aged 12 to 25 enjoyed every minute of the stay. Our offroad adventures in the mud; our attempts to catch a fish in the worst conditions and our sons participating in a game of soccer with the local lads in the mud...... I could go on but I will run out of space on this reviewLet me leave the rest to you imagination!None of this would be possible if Este, Charles and the rest of the PSJ River lodge family did not accommodate and entertain us. Thank you guys.  You are the best!It was the first trio to PSJ for my friends and they have decided that the Easter weekend would be an annual getaway to he Lodge in future.As for me: I will see you in 6 weeks time and every six weeks after that until November.You guys have the right ingredients to "recharge my batteries "Mergan

Our group consisted of 20 and the managers Charlie n Ester went out of their way to accommodate us. Despite the rain we had an amazing 3 nights. The location was excellent, the garden well maintained, rooms was neat n value for money. I would highly recommend Port St Johns River Lodge. Looking forward to my next visit.

I liked it. The aircon was wonderful. The staff were super friendly.

Stayed for a week. Wonderful establishment. Bubbly and friendly manager who assisted in everything we needed. Will definitely be paying them a visit again in the future.

My Favourite place in Port st John’s either I’m there for Business, family, friends or just there alone. I love the Staff, I text them anytime for reservations. Amazing place in general.

Booked in at Psj River Lodge for the weekend 11 to 13 Feb 2022. We had a very warm welcome by Este. Checking in was done quickly and hassle free taking into account we had around 40 of us in the group. All COVID protocols were followed. The rooms were clean and spacious with air-conditioning and the beds nice and comfi. The lodge is situated in one of the most picturesque spots along the riverbank with a huge mountain in the backdrop. The lodge cleaning staff are really friendly and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure not only the rooms but the entire lodge itself is kept spotless. We had a blast of a weekend...and made some awesome memories. Will be returning in the near future. Thanks to all of you at PSJ river lodge.

I have been staying at the PSJ River Lodge on a monthly basis for the past 10 years.I can really recommend this as a perfect establishment to stay over, whether for business or leisure. Friendly staff from when you book then at the gate and evey where at the lodge. Very safe neat place . Great food and service. Stunning view. Rooms are fantastic.

My Family and I aswell as friends have been visiting riverlodge for a few years now.....we always find the benefits of comfort, relaxation ,satisfaction and happiness here......the staff are very friendly and helpfull .... i must mention Estee and Charles you guys rock..... always a pleasure to stay at riverlodge.....u will see us as often as possible this 2022.

Port St Johns River Lodge is truly a great place from the location to the mesmerizing view around. Always a great place to be. Staff are very friendly and helpful food is excellent. Room are very neat and clean and and in excellent condition.In all my years of staying there I have never not once had a unpleasant stay. I fish alot in the Eastern cape and have been to many places, and I must say for the price you pay its an excellent deal and very comfortable stay also very safe. I recommend Port St Johns River Lodge, your home away from home.

It can do better. Theres mosquitos and small insects flying around the from. The breakfast not nice. Same thing everyday with lots of salt. A smile from the waitress would be nice once in a while. No visitors allowed in the room. Too many rules as though we are not adults. Wouldnt come back here again.

The place was amazing - serene, peaceful and no need to go out for anywhere... really good service. The food was not that great but there are places close by you can grab something to eat... Loved it!!

The Management was very unprofessional Shame. The lady Manager treated us worse, The place looks good, but Service bad.

Love the scenery here. The bathroom is quite small though and maybe place the TV on the wall please. Otherwise lovely place

All about the $$$. Had to postpone the trip due to an unfortunate mishap, gave one month notice, asked simply to reschedule, but NO - Johan said it cant be rescheduled, it has to be a cancellation, naturally so they get to keep to 50% deposit. Definitely a clear message to never consider coming back in the future. To compound the disservice, they kept lying about having already made the payment for my other 50% refund since the 29th, then when eventually asked to produce PoP, it showed it was done on the 6th

Great Lodge, fantastic facilities with great views overlooking the river. Restaurant had very good meals. We had a lovely stay.

The chalet is OK. Not a 5 adults accommodation, but will serve well for a family with small kids. Food at the restaurant was good and otherwise clean and tidy. Safe parking for vehicles

When the lockdown started we were lucky to be called to serve the Eastern Cape people. In return, this lodge became our home for a full 3 weeks. This indeed was our home as we felt very welcome and treated like Kings. It was even adverse to remember that the country was on lockdown as we had everything and all the food variety we wanted. The staff was extremely friendly, professional and overfilled with utmost Ubuntu.If they could treat us like Kings during a lockdown, one envieshow awesome are they when there is no restrictions. If you are looking for the best, go to Port Saint Johns River Lodge and you will never regret.

The staff are always friendly and welcoming, especially Estee. We have visited 3 times under sad circumstances and she has always done her best to accommodate us and make us welcome. Thanks Este. We really appreciate your compassion and humanity.

This is my annual holiday destination, and I will always be going there for years to come.PSJ River Lodge is an awesome place, I personally rate it a 5 star resort and the location is perfect. The accommodation, staff, service were excellent! Thoroughly enjoyed our 1 week stay and the kids had a ball in the play area. Highly recommended. We will be seen youll again soon.

Warm & welcoming staff. The facilities are not posh but it is very pleasant. Excellent lodge for a short getaway from the noisy urban life. Relax with a good book and enjoy the river and its surroundings.

Stayed with my colleagues at PSJ River Lodge during April 2019 for 3 weeks. Clean spacious rooms. The chefs are incredible, I tried nearly everything on their dinner menu during our 5 day stay and was wowed each time. The staff are so professional and helpful too. Best place to stay in Port St Johns!!

My wife and I stayed there from 18-20 March in a self catering unit. We found the staff very friendly and accommodating and had great interaction with other guests. Food was excellent to. The crayfish dishes were delicious and unbelievable value for money. Will visit again soon.

Amazing, beautiful view! Very nice service and staff! Clean, comfortable rooms. The restaurant is right on the property of the lodge which makes it very convenient.Highly recommend!

Second time here for the epic Sardine Run. Nice cosy place with great views & virtually by the river. Food here is good even though they changed the menu & buffet layout from last year. Good for families.

Visited the lodge with a group of friends in April 2016. Facilities are very clean and well-maintained. Unfortunately, we were burgled and robbed off personal belongings including cell-phones and wallets. Lodge is adjacent to a busy main road with a bushy area in-between and has wire mesh fencing with barbed wire that was very easily breached. Management were seemingly very unsympathetic and offered little solace and consolation - no 3rd party insurance cover as well. Otherwise very good facilities barring the chance of theft and unconcerned management.
