Historical venue depicting area life through themed displays beginning with early European settlers.
Quaint museum showcasing Port Macquaries history.
This was great. Really enjoyed it! It was very interesting learning about port Macquarie history.
Great museum, really enjoyed the priceless exhibits. Didn’t enjoy kids running through unsupervised, rattling bathroom doors and leaving the tap running while their parents eventually catch up with a shrug and a “you know kids”.
Must visit to know about this place. Very caring young ladies (volunteers).
We thoroughly enjoyed our museum visit. The collection is extensive and includes exhibits showcasing the Indigenous history, Convict settlement, town and surrounding areas. The volunteers were friendly and knowledgeable. For a small entry fee of $5 per person, the best value in Port Macquarie and time well spent. Thank you
We had the most amazing morning perusing the 10 rooms and outdoor displays of the history of Port Macquarie. All the exhibits are professionally presented and the information about the articles use is very informative. The range of household everyday items is exemplary. Each room covers a different aspect of Port Macquaries history, including the First Nations People, the Convicts, the Woodcutters, the Sugar Cane industry, etc. There is even a street scene set up in one room with the convict bricks set in the different styles of bricklaying for that era. This is a must see for those folk that enjoying looking at a bygone era.

Very interesting little museum. A must see when visiting Port Macquarie
We were impressed. This museum looks small from outside but very large and plenty to see inside! We learnt a lot about the history of early settlement and their life. Very interesting. We had a family ticket for $15, which was not expected as we expected to pay for adults and children separately. The ladies at the front look like volunteers, they were very welcoming and friendly. There are many free onstreet parking, but was very busy as we went during public holiday. Strongly recommended to visit when you are at Port Macquarie.
This museum was such a great surprise on a bleak day! Thought it would be tiny but it just goes on (in a good way haha). Really informative and well set out. A significant collection of historical items! Loved it.
Some great displays - dont forget to look in the drawers. The firearm collection is impressive
Peter and Heather were the wonderful hosts. The price of museum is absolutely well for a family and it involves a lot of learning esp. for kids. I would recommend this to everyone.
