Port Harcourt Zoo - Zoo in Elele, Nigeria
A place to live a life of enjoyment and wealth creation
Thats a horrible place with malnourished animals
Very good Zoo with nice animals for experience
They’re good things, needful to see
No more enough animals to have fun with
The zoo is poorly managed, the environment is dirty a d bushy. Very few animals to look at. Not a good place to visit
Amazing structure for a plan built without a future. Its just sad about the neglect and dilapidation.
Very poor maintenance
Nothing much to see here tho but the workers are very welcoming
I enjoyed my experience. The tour guide did a fabulous job.I got to feed monkeys, they’re very interesting creatures and the male monkey’s love women. HahaI went into the museum and further explored.
Nice place I was amazed seeing animals in the wild with my real eyes, no longer on NatGeoWild
Havent really gone in, but i believe it will be a very nice place to go visiting.
Really didnt see intriguing animals
I am an electrical engineer with a comprehensive knowledge on electrical panels of different kinds
The new renovation looks amazing, still expecting the wildlife to come and the reopening 👍👍👍
Beautiful environment and a very interesting tour guide. However More animals are needed. We had fun
You would not regret visiting this place enough entertainment
The zoo was very unkept. Theyre signs to use refuse dump but theres clearly no sign of one. Numerous empty cages without animals in them. The place is in total dilapidation. It was definitely disappointing to come here. I expected more. However, I was trilled by the monkeys, baboons and the everly proud peacock I saw. More would do. Hence the 2 stars.
Its Port Harcourts only Zoo. It was recently renovated by the current Governor of the State, but the animals there are very few unfortunately but its a cool place to visit for recreational purpose.
The place is very scanty no animal there accept lizard 🦎 grass cutter squirrel 🐿️ ant 🐜 wild ant 🐜 mosquito rat 🐀 rabbit 🐇 and smaller animals
Helpful Tour Guide.Chill ambience.Serene environment.Reptiles. Birds. Ostrich. Monkeys.Museum of stuffed & painted wildlife too.
The place is okay... Way better than some other zoos Ive been to
There are no animals here for now except.... Ostrich, monkey, baboon, crocodile, a weird specie of eagle, tortoise and turtle.... Very boring till its fully renovated
The only thing anybody that has been here before has, are fond memories and nostalgia whenever this place is sighted or passed. An avenue for Tourism in Port Harcourt, but little or no interest is placed on it. Located on trans-amadi road, it can be accessed from at least 4 points, but the zoo itself has one entrance. It can be spotted from a distance due to the dense tree population in the compound. The ministry of culture and tourism should look into revamping it or else, lose it to criminal activities thereby leading to a total boycott by individuals.
Well, the outlook is better than before, it has animals but not wild animals, they promise to stock than up this year, I hopeful pray they do, I in the time passed visited this same zoo with wild animals and stuff lions in cage, it was a great experience.
This zoo has been an awesome site for children,it helps them see animals theyve been seeing in there story books.
Not much of a zoo. Good aesthetic from the outside (recently renovated). Looking more like a conservation centre. More animals should be brought in. Entry fee is ok as it attracts more people
Good place to have fun time with the kids, get to see various reptiles and others.Zoo needs to be filled with more animals tho..
Port Harcourt Zoo as at 31st December 2021 is Just a shadow of itself, very very few Animals many very old and hungry, cages Needs renovation, No fun activity, Nothing to Buy for the kids except cop corn....Government Needs to do something about Port Harcourt Zoo
The environment is conserved, with lots of trees.
The Zoo and the few animals there are not looking good. The government needs to rehabilitate the existing structures, take proper care of the animals too
found it very difficult to understand what going on in this place. Iwas thinking a zoo has to have different type of animals before it canbe classified as a zoo.Well, my opinion is that the government has a lot of work to do heresooner than later before its totally written off.
Government of Rivers State should convert this zoo to something else, since nothing is happening here. The environment is full of hoodlums. It is not wise to be here in the night. Thank God government is constructing here now
Nice fun place to visit with your family and friends.
Children will like it for the mere sound of its a zoo, but I dont know how much of live animals are in there but I know for sure that its not d focus of the government right now nonetheless it wont be so bad to visit the zoo and get a first hand ✋info.
There are no animals here and there is a lot of jobs to be done here, in order to put it back in shape and make it one of the best zoo in the country. So for now I will say that it is very poor.
Very poor, the zoo doesnt have a lot of animals
It was fine. I think it was empty. I expected alot of animals there. I liked the natural environment but thought the place is underutilised. My suggestion is that we get more animals, provide spots like suya spots, bole and barbeque spots and maybe small chops, snacks and drinks
Its a shadow of what it used to be. I went there to take photos though. I wish it would go back to its original glory.. all photos were taken on my phone.
Its a very affordable place to take the kids for an informative and entertaining time. The issue is that the entrance is difficult to locate from the road, as far as I could see there are no proper signagesWithin all the old concrete tile flooring are broken and covered with algae, easy to stumble and fallAll the cages are rusty and green, the labels detailing the animals rusted beyond recognition, most of the cages are emptyYou cant tell who works for the zoo and who is hustling you, a child going to a zoo for the first time will have fun but will soon start asking questions, an adult that brought a child wont feel relaxed, constantly worrying about your child getting tetanus from the cages or getting injured by the one 🐒 there or the representatives of the wild birds there not to mention being kidnappedBut all and all theres hope for the future of the zoo as they still get patronage but as one guy that claims to work there said, they dont know what the returns they make to those in charge are used forIts the cheapest place for horse back riding Jin the state
Beautiful sight at the Portharcourt zoo today, had the opportunity of seeing a life hunter lion(lionessfor the very first time. A peacock , Eagles, orstreach tortoise, donkey and lot more fun. The kids had the privilege to ride on a horse...it was amazing
Its the most boring and uneventful zoo i have been to in the country. Lion is the only wildlife there and a couple of horses and birds. The place needs better upgrade and management, otherwise the money that tourist were charged (200is totally unfair
This facility is not well maintained by the Rivers State Ministry of Tourism. There are just a few animals to see. Their habitats are not kept tidy. The zoo guide is a nice and friendly old man.Horse ride is availableMini Playground for kids is also onsiteThe Ministry overseeing the facility should put I more animals, upgrade the infrastructure, partner with private investors for restaurants etc &other activities that would make the place more fun.
Good place to take the kids for a cheap and educative treat. The animals are not in fantastic conditions but they are fairly OK. The environment is nice as there are lots of trees for shade. A lot of empty cages abound as well but you still get to see lions, ostriches, crocodiles, monkeys and chimpanzees. There are birds of prey and some exotic varieties. If you are brave enough, you can peer in and take a look at the resident python too. Beware to keep your kids within eyesight to avoid the horse riders trampling them
No much animals, however it was an exciting experience
There is no much animals but is place to take your kids and family to have funs.
The zoo is in a poor state. The government has neglected the staff and not looked deep into the affairs of the zoo. The animals inside the zoo are poorly fed. Some of the animals have died of hunger and poor mismanagement. Though the have a children playing ground around the zoo. The place has been abandoned by the zoo staff. It is not functional anymore. The buildings are in poor condition. Most of it dilapidating. I really enjoy myself seeing the lion for the first time but I felt very bad for the animal.
Poorly maintained zoo. Used to be a major tourist attraction centre in time past but now a shadow of its self. However, u could still get one or two pale looking animals there. The place boast of others facilities like open natural air hangout joints and space for mini concerts with commercial parking spaces.
The zoo is not well maintained like one might expect in a city like Port Harcourt. However its the only one around and the kids didnt mind. It boasts 2 not so well fed lions, and a huge python, different birds, monkeys, as well as some other common animals. Its usually busy around festive periods and the tickets are very cheap. Used to be N150 for kids and free for adults or the other way round.
Its lacking a lot of animals more like its an empty zoo. But the environment is clean. But still has some nice animals tho
