Port Adelaide SA 5015, Australia, Mount Barker
Relocated, 19th-century light station featuring a staircase to the top offering panoramic vistas.
An interesting historical structure, which I hope they dont demolish when the build the new hotel and whatever they do to the old port markets building.
this saved me from slamming into the port. because the great light of our lord shone on the seabed, lighting up the great ocean and blessing me with sight,. 2 STARS
Beautiful place to visit
A very old piece of history worth a look
Beautiful old lighthouse outside the Port Markets and worth a look.
Port Adelaide Fishermens Wharf Markets are terrible. No lifts or escalators to the upper level. So if you cant use stairs, then forget going to see the traders on the top level. Owners seem to not care about up keep or maintenance on the building or amenities. Food is great at the BBQ caravan and Dannys Donuts are to die for. Coffee inside at the Cafe is the best. Lots of Great traders so support them.
A very interesting mini-musem and great views from the top. 🌊 🗼⚓ ⛵ ⛴️
Wonderful views and they have just repaired the night lights
Made the trip up to Port Adelaide and couldn’t believe how quiet it was because there was so much to see and do around the lighthouse and not to forget eat as well.Just wish that I got to spend more time here next time and see how the lighthouse looks at night.
great fun with the family especially for the kids good place to view the boats and water lots of things you can do there
It is a landmark. I will try to climb it soon, if I still fit.
Very nice quiet place to rest and relax.
Weather was cool, food vans outside the markets most convenient
Good starting point for a walk around the old wharves, plenty of parking available.
Been there college and friends
Great place, always love to visit
Historic place, would recommend to someone who loves places like this - make sure you bring a dollar with you to be able to climb up the lighthouse 👌🏼
Great view after scaling the narrow circular staircase.
Great historical place to visit. Good information about past
Very. Historic and lots to see dolphin cruise finished a lovely day meal excellent for the price unfortunately market only open Sunday
Pretty spot to watch the boats on the Murray river
Another family friendly adventure, you could spent quite a lot of time up at the top watching the world go by.
A lovely spot to visit at Port Adelaide. Climb the steep old spiral staircase and enjoy the great view. Take a moment to read the history and look at the historic lamp. This is a cheap enjoyable part of an outing at the Port. Well worth it.
The iconic red lighthouse on current site since 1985 is Port Adelaide’s icon. It is listed on the South Australian Heritage Register since 1980. This place is great for the kids.Opening times is 10am-2pm weekdays and 11am-4pm Sundays. To climb the structure cost a measly $1 for adult and $0.50 for children.
Classified as a tourist attraction somehow. Its an small old lighthouse that you can climb inside to the top for a fee. Youll see it if you go to the weekend Port Markets, Dolphin Cruise or one of the eating/drinking places in Port Adelaide.
Beautiful lighthouse. You can also pay $1 to climb to the top.
Beautiful place for a walk on a sunny day!
An Important Icon of Adelaide. It was built in 1896 and was moved to several locations, until back to its current location in 1986. The location is easy to access, with two options of public transportation: bus 118 from the city and Train (OUTHAfrom Adelaide Railway Station. The surroundings is also well preserved 19th centurys victorian style shophouses. Dont forger to take a Dolphin ferry tour, the counter is just beside this lighthouse. Every Sunday, there is also a Sunday Market at Fishermans wharf to the west of this lighthouse.
Great for the kids only $2 to enter.
Best place to buy books or bric a brac, open Sundays, 9-5.
Good place to go on the dolphin Cruise and see the second hand markets on weekends and public holidays. Also only gold coin donation to climb up the tower!!
A great backdrop for photos
Port Adelaide is -hopefully also in the future- a place with lots of SA important history, buildings, landmarks, Aboriginal history, we recognise their land we live and work on, culture, history and peoples past and present. When visiting our city book a tour through the Aboriginal history, hear the stories of the land around and opposite the Lighthouse.....and generally go on a walk trough the history, a dolphin cruise, visit Lipson St with its three museums
Climb the historic Lighthouse and enjoy the wide view over the land and sea and the saltpans.
It’s a lighthouse. Good for photos and that’s it.
The Port is wonderful. A really up and coming place. I enjoyed my time there and will visit again. Lots for families to do!
nice place to go for walk, photography walk, take lots of selfies, enjoy sunset, go for dolphin cruise and lots of fun.
For only $1 per person, a really fun and educational outing idea.
Worth visiting. Only a few dollars to climb. Not for everone as it is tight in places and at the top of the stairs only one person at a time. Highly recommended for those not afraid of heights
Any visitor’s must go place in Adelaide is Port Adelaide. You can take a river cruise to watch dolphins. If you are lucky, then the dolphins will swim alongside the cruise. The light house is the icon of Port Adelaide.
This lighthouse you can pay i believe its $2.00 to walk to the top and look out on the town and the water. Great seaview. One place to Visit worth getting out of the house for.
Absolutely Fantastic Pub, Great People and Atmosphere. A Definite Must To Stop In Again.
This suburb is amazing.Food, beautiful walls... Very good scenery. We loved a beautiful Sunday there.
Old building, have interesting views, you need to pay to go upstair, and have a promotional free entrance if you visit and enter the maritime museum.
Lovely views. Great place for excursions for students and all for $1.
Its a big metal light house that you can climb for a buck. It is bright and red and shines pink and a few other colours at night
Reasonable entry fee (only $1and good view. Interior of tower kept in tact to help appreciate how it once functioned.
Very historical part of Port Adelaide, Id like to see more advertising of it around though to attract more people- maybe advertise an open day in the holidays to allow certain numbers in at a time? Just a thought.
Beautiful place. Theres a dolphin viewing tour on boat around the area
Dose anyone know the name of the video guy I think from EJsFilms com or ejsmovies who was filming the Port Festival as We would like to thank him for taking our 11 year old up the tower as the lighthouse staff wouldnt have let her go up without an adult and he took the time to stop what he was doing. He was Such a great guy
