Poppadom Indian Restaurant Sligo - Indian restaurant in Sligeach, Ireland
Welcome to Poppadum’s, a playground for your health and hygiene.I saw most reviews before visiting this place but still for my love of Indian food, I tried it. Worst is a very decent word i’m using here. Pathetic Experience.Starting with food:They bought the Poppadum: Too oily served with stale old Mango Chutney and coconut, what a joke!Chana Masala and Dal - Looked the same, to be brutally honest.Naan Bread: Served absolutely cold. We told the manager to change the breads, instead he thought it would be convenient to Microwave it.Veg Momos: If you don’t know a history about a particular food, please take it off the Menu. Served with Oil and lots of Oil.Chicken: Undercooked and ofcourse Oil.The best thing on the Menu is Diet Coke. They’ve got awards. FOR WHAT?This was such a pathetic experience, a shame for calling themselves an Indian restaurant. Please save your money.
One of the worst food experiences ever. Too much oil in the food. Naan breads were served cold. All the main course food we ordered had the same taste. A total disaster. A negative 1 review from my end.
Love this restaurant, first visit back in over a decade, good to be back
The food was 10/10 we tried 5 different dishes which included 4 different types of chicken, 1 rice and 1 daal. From mild to very spicy, this place has it all. Best part is the ambience and service. 100/100 would recommend!
Roti and paneer jalfrezi was very nice but they served veg biryani which wad more of tomato rice than biryani
Food was nice however poor service, slow and place was dirty (carpets and general decor).
Delicious food! Ive eaten there many times before and I will eat there many times again! 100% would recommend
Omg we fancied this restaurant as we wanted BYO and our local Indian in Tullamore is Fabulous. The smell on entering was stuffy, mouldy and generally stale. The carpet was rank and sticky. The ceiling was in bad need of paint. Despite all that the food was good but very hard to relax and enjoy food in the filthy dirty chairs and generally bad state of repair of restaurant. The tables and Linen and cutlery etc were spotless. But no need for the awful condition of restaurant in 2022.
5 stars amazing beautiful cozy place the food was just a delight . We just loved it thanks for the staff and the chef .
Best Indian in town! The staff are so friendly and nice. The food is always amazing.
Had a great experience, lovely food, excellent service, would come back again...
After a very tiring day, we went here to have a good meal to end our day, but we ended up waiting for so long for the food. And the food didnt taste great either.
Shocking food worst curry I have ever had in my life they are just heating frozen food I would say the chicken was cooked days ago
We had an incredibly bad experience at this restaurant. Forget about the food, I think they should first of all learn how to provide kind and cordial treatment to their customers. Ladies toilet was fetid and the attitude of the people were so insolent.
You might have tasted the most delicious yummy biriyani in your life , have you ever experienced the worst ? If not , here is the restaurant i would recommend.Instead of a fork and spoon they should have probably provided a "machete" as i had tough time finding rice and a few pieces of miniature chicken in middle of the jungle they served on my plate called chicken biriyani with salad. Am I cow or a goat ? You can find all sorts of vegetation known to mankind on that plate. Except biriyani.Coming to taste, Ive no clue how to explain. Was it salty or sweet ? Ah lets see its something like a solid version of ORS.Coming to Service, we were a group of 20 and we had already booked our seats. Yeah we know all these people coming together will definitely build some tensions in the kitchen but after waiting for a decade my colleague went and asked the status of the food and this is what they replied (with attitude, "it will come, why so hurry?". Roots would have grown if we had waiting for another 10 more minutes and his response, why so hurry ? I do not want to mention that we had to ask for water after the glasses in front of us started to collect dust nor that one of the waiters spilled water over two of my friends nor did the waiter literally push food towards us as if we were dogs and i definitely do not want to explain the mess i saw when the kitchen door was accidentally left open for few minutes. You might need Google maps to navigate from one end to the other through all that messy , unhygienic kitchen.Summary, the people of poppadam if you are reading this, pls send your chef to a good restaurant and tell him to get some good biriyani from there , probably that might give him some ideas and please install some lights in the restaurant or you should have told us to bring some torches or emergency lamps if we had to have food from your restaurant.Other than these , everything else is perfecttttttttt..
Pathetic service from an Indian restaurant to indians😖. It was really hell : the place, the chair assets everything. The food was horrible in taste. Even the welcome papad have taste of rotten oil😞. Total disappointment and waste of money
The portion sizes where little, slow service, the curry too spicy my friend got a nose bleed. The ambiance is disappointing nd really need a makeover. The only good thing was that the waiter was fine as hell!
They made us wait for a very long time to serve the food.We did not have a great experienceWe came in as 20people after calling. Still it was delayed
The service is very pathetic. The area was not clean , a foul smell was coming all the time. The attendees weren’t interested for service. Also the food was not good . The welcome papad they served was smelling like hell. The waiter was not careful .
Cleanliness was very poor, entrance carpet is so dirty and smells bad, Served with a dirty saucer, dishes are having Indian names but they are not at all authentic Indian dishes.
Best indian in sligo .The ambiance is great. Interior is stunningand elegant, hospitality is good, staff members are polite and friendly. I like they pay attention to details, warm plates . Decent Indian food with some modern twist. Enjoyed most dishes. The spices were flavourful yet by no means intrusive. A perfect spot for any occasion.
Worst Indian restaurant I have ever visited. Smell from staircase, dirty carpets & chairs etc.... Dirty toilet.... Staff were not nice as well. Price is comparatively higher. Regret visited. Will never visit again...
Average food. Our curry was very dry and when asked if we could have more sauce to finish our rice, we were told we would have to wait an additional 15/20mins 👎🏼
My favourite place to eat love the food workers very nice. 100 percent reccomend👌
Didnt get to order. This place leaves a lot to be desired. Need to take a hard look at their offering
The best kebab weve had in Ireland. We made an order by phone and by the time we arrived it was ready, we were even given free drinks, which was very nice. The staff is very friendly, the restaurant is very cozy, beautifully furnished. We will definitely come back again!
Fantastic location and the food is amazing. Authentic and flavorful. The meat is tender and cooked perfectly. GOC naan cant be missed! best indian in sligo town !5*
Absolutely disgrace if I could I would give them zero star, they don’t allow kids. I never encountered like this anywhere, they should wrap up the business.
Fantastic service and even better food! Would highly recommend all the staff are so welcoming and helpful. Will definitely be coming back! Can also bring your own bottle of alcohol for a small charge! Very warm and cozy restaurant. Wholesome Indian food.
Very bland much nicer eating in store they make extra effort.I dont know if it is me but all Indian takeaway in Sligo is disappointing
Had a wonderful dinner… really enjoyed the warm ambience ..😍
Nice to be able to order takeaway that is Premium quality food. Really good meat used.Im addicted to their chicken tikka masala.
Didnt meet expectations. Could have been more life to the place to cheer up.And clean carpets. Maybe they would go for small number of menu items and deliver the best n original indian smell n taste. The place really need a wake up call.
Food ok but restaurant needs a serious make over. The de CB or is tired looking and the carpet on the stairs has sern better days.
Lamb chettinad is amazing here and its halal. Its tough to find halal food in Sligo however this place hit the spot! A little pricey. Looking at £30 roughly for a starter a main and 2 naans!
Very nice food, all fresh, and home made. no artificial coloring or taste
Had poor experiences in this restaurant. If I remember correctly I had visited this place 2 times , Im giving it 2 stars for the Simple fact that one of the meals were average, my last meal here was quite a few years back and it was grotisque. I got nausea within minutes of consuming my food. I absolutely adore Indian food but I wouldnt recommend this restaurant at all.
Very good ambience. Tori was awesome in her service to us and our 2 year old. She went to and fro to the chef to check for our customized order. The taste was very good. Lamb Seekh kabab is a must try.
Spoiler: The food is good but the place need some love.Unfortunately very dirty and smelly stairs welcome you when you arrive. When you are upstairs you ask this question, is this a restaurant or a takeaway.I and my wife waited for 5 mins even though we have reservation because there were many people there for collection. Luckly the guy said we can sit any table we want. We picked one. After waiting for another 15 mins, my wife went to the till ask if someone will look after us. Yayyy finally a waitress came to get our orders however we did not have the menu. They were too busy with the deliveries and nobody gave us the menu. FYI we also had to light the candle on the table since they did not give so much attention. Without a candle we couldn’t call it a romantic dinner :)Anyway, the food arrived. It was tasty I must say. Better than our exception after the first impression. We order 1 starter, 1 curry, 1 biryani and 1 naan bread. It was more than enough for 2.Not sure if we go there again..
I highly recommend popadoms best Indian food in town great staff friendly Atmosphere. Delivery driver Fast and efficient and friendly
Waited approx. 2 hours for our order to arrive and inevitably the food was cold. The quality of the food was okay as we’ve ordered from here before but we did find a small bone in one of the pieces of chicken.A poor experience overall, we will be reluctant to order from here in future.
Had to wait two hours 4 the food - I rang the restaurant twice to which they told me the delivery driver was on the way the 1st time -more than half an hour later I was still waiting. I rang back 2nd time to which I received “the driver is really busy to night “ Reply I waited over TWO HOURS ! For an order ! - very very very annoyed.
Went out for an Indian meal last Tues around 7.30.I thought someone had died in restaurant. No cheer or welcomes. Just shown to table. No banter or any friendly conversation. All 2 staff looked so sad. 4 tables with customers. No checking of Covid certs or contact details.Front stairs carpet was very worn and appeared dirty. However food was very very good.No complaints at all.But come on lads put a little bit of heat on and cheer up.
Amazing food... home away from home food... very nice spice. The food came in large quantities and the quality was excellent. I was surprised by seeing thisnplace having all the indian foods and spice. Highly recommended and surely if i make it back here i will be back!
The food here is amazing! Chaudhary sahab is a great host and truly made us feel at home during our travels to Ireland (were South Asians). The best South Asian food Ive had in this part of Ireland! A special callout to the papad with the mango chutney and the Keema Kulcha. He also gave us some extra food to keep us satiated during the rest of our road trip on the Wild Atlantic Way.Pro-tip: Ask for desi spicy food, if you really wanna taste the food!
Excellent friendly service 10 stars if I couldLovely foodEthan on the phone was very polite and helpful with recommendations, the nann bread he suggested with the goats cheese was delicious.Delivery driver was very efficient and friendlyWill order again very soonBest Indian ever
I have ordered a mixed kebab from Poppadom on the 13th February 2021. The meat smells and tastes like sour or rotten. I called the restaurant and the staff told me that the lamb was fresh. I requested my money back and he told me he would give me a discount on my next order. I am not ordering from there again. I hope I will not get sick. Awful experience
Had dinner with a friend here in Sept 2020. Wasnt expecing much, given the overall look of the place.Food was excellent. Tasty, fresh, succulent meat, and generous servings.Service was good.
The patty starter was reasonable, and the waitress friendly. However there was a long wait for the main courses and when they arrived they were awful. Have had Indian food all over Ireland, UK, India, East Asia and the US and this was the worst. Ordered lamb and beef was sent out instead- the chef denied this. If I paid 3 euro for a ready meal this poor I’d be disappointed, never mind €15.
The service was sincere but very very slow. The food was fine. It was not the best Indian I have ever had. The chairs were really stained and dirty they certainly made a mistake when they upholstered. But everything else seemed fairly clean. It is not a definite repeat for me.
