Buffet restaurant for Indian chicken, lamb, fish and vegetarian dishes, plus a bar and takeaway.
Nice restaurant food was good and service excellent👍
Splendid food. Highly recommendable!
Excellant experience at the Poppadom! The maitre d was outstanding as was the wait staff. Food was very good! Will definitely return
My partner and I were looking to try a new Indian curry place and came across the recently renovated Poppodam. The food and the service was amazing, we had starters, main and a dessert. I would absolutely go for a date night. The lamb rogan was fantastic and the star of the night were the rose dumpling balls with vanilla ice cream. Theres also a bowling place round the corner so, if youre looking for a great date night, end it here!
I was expecting a buffet as per the reviews. They no longer offer a buffet.
Excellent food and the staff were fantastic. Will definitely come back.
Great food, excellent staff and lovely ambience. We had fun. Thank you Mr Sandesh, Ms Nushrat, Mr Patel and kitchen staff.
Excellent food; great value for such high quality food. Great choice for authentic food
Disappointed- samosa came smashed up with too much yoghurt over the top second course was tasteless - dont order the vege paneer or the vege kofta - pappadom was stale definitely wont be back I was looking forward to it
Food was good enough, however charging £5 for a side bowl of rice is a jokeThe waiter is lucky I didn’t throw my plate at him when he came over and said “you should eat your food hot” because we were having a conversation and the waiter clearly wanted to go home early.
I visited tonight for dinner by myself as I am on a work trip. I was made to feel very welcome by excellent service staff. I was offered water immediately while I read the menu. The menu was filled with options. I chose the Kashmiri Rogan Josh, rice and garlic naan. It was beautiful - so flavoursome, presented so well, and just spicy enough for me to still be able to eat it all. I was then offered a dessert and went with a recommendation - a milk-based dessert (I think ras malaiand it was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend and will visit again time-permitting. Thank you!
Surprisingly good food. Probably my best ever rogan.
As a restaurant in a hotel I was surprised that they offered such a well priced lunch time buffet and would certainly come here again given the value. On the Thursday we visited there were no other diners and even when we came to leave there were only a handful of others. If these volumes are normal then it’s not surprising that the range of food on offer is more limited than other buffet options nearby, but fortunately every dish which was present was of great quality and very tasty. There was a choice of around four starters and five curries, but only one rice option. The fish was particularly delightful and hot breads could be ordered to the table. There were plenty of sauces and accompaniments for the popadoms, all again really tasty. Each dish was kept replenished and was fresh despite the few people dining. What was disappointing was the service from the staff. It took an age for drinks orders to be taken and subsequently for them to arrive, plus it was really hard getting the attention of anyone when needed. The interior of the dining area was nice and modern though and certainly felt clean.I’d certainly consider here again and it offers great value for what can be a really filling and delicious lunch!
One of the worst meals of my entire life. I came here, as many others have, due to the relatively good online reviews. It was a grave mistake to trust those. I have been to many many restaurants in my life and not once have I thus felt so compelled to give a poor review for a meal as this one. I will note before my negative comments that the staff were wonderful, being kind, polite, and helpful. Onto the food. The buffet was limited. And the food at the buffet bland, uninspiring, and lacking in flavor. The naan, to begin, was quite dry. The rice, not even cooked properly. The curries and other things, disappointing as all ever, an anglicized disappointment without a shadow of resemblance of what it could be. As a big fan of Indian food from the United States, I was quite disappointed. I feel like I wasted the 15 or so pounds this evening, please take my words as earnest and as a warning.
Decent Indian buffet. Casual setting and price seems reasonable for what you get.People encountered were kind.
Nice selection of authentic tasting Indian food. Staff were friendly and attentive
Just awful. Staff were very nice but the food was unappetising. We had a small child with us who eats pretty much anything but even he turned his nose up at what was on offer except for the rice pudding desert. The main problem was they don’t cater for dinners who don’t like actual curries (though my husband does, and still didn’t like the food). A few chips, some tandoori chicken and a few none curry based dishes would have gone a long way!!
Totally underestimated. Seems to have been refurbished.Nearly empty at least at 6 and 7 pm. Nice indian buffet. Tasty and worth its money.Extremely nice staff.
Good selection of curries, fresh salads and a choice of two puddings. Staff are lovely and very welcoming.
Very poor selection of food. Most of the curries were finished and there was no rice or nan bread. Staff were notified about the lack of food but made no effort to replace it. It was included as part of a booking at Royal National Hotel but wasn’t worth having.
Welcoming and comfortable restaurant. Lunch buffet is tasty and great value, with plenty of meat and veg dishes to choose from.
Fantastic curry house, great value for money £9:95 for four plates of the best buffet in town. Fabulous
Please do not go there just for halal/asian buffet or for any food, staffs are very nice polite but my goodness this place should’t be advertised the way it was! Look plenty of good places to eat from in Kings cross station, if not just visit M&S, maybe a nice bag of crisp with some dip and you’ll feel happy. This place was £14.99 per adult my husband was so angry with me for picking the place he left, I made my family walk so much and because of little children I didn’t move but honestly it was so bad I kept tearing up, even the kids hated it but they just couldn’t walk anymore. Also this place is below hotel so really you can say hotel food, I am sad that I didn’t listen to the negative reviews on google map for sometimes they actually speak the truth😢 no amount of positivity was going to shine this experience😣😣 Sorry again to the lovely kind staff😟
This is one of my favorite restaurants in London. At the lunch buffet, for a fair fixed price, the food is incredibly good, tasty, well prepared and full of options. For dessert, the best lemon pie Ive ever eaten in my life. The staff is also attentive and kind, especially Yvan. Overall, its a great place to go: beautiful, quiet, nice, clean, with great food and great staff!
Awful. No onion chutney for poppadoms no starters two choices of chicken curry tikka masala or tikka which they managed to get every bit of moisture out of. Had to ask three times for naan bread.Sweet???? Three cakes??? Save your money and go elsewhere Looks nothing like the photos on website
Great selection for a lunch buffet in a hotel. 9 quid :)
Very enjoyable! Good food, nice service, calm and elegant atmosphere.
great and lovely food with low pricing. Eat all you can and decent food. enjoyed the samosas and indian food.
Foods was good. Buffet lunch on weekends was very reasonable £8.99. For children half price.
Really nice food and friendly staff. Some of the nicest and most tender lamb that I have had. Me and my partner had the buffet, and two meals and two drinks came to only 31 quid, bargain for a hotel in central London.
Some of the dishes were nice. Disappointed that chicken tikka was stone cold. Rice pudding bowl was empty in the dessert menu.
Very nice, clean and light restaurant. Food was served in buffet style and although there wasnt a massive choice, it was very tasteful. Seating area very comfortable. Enjoyed our meal there.
This place is a complete gem in central London. I have been visiting for the best part of a year whilst teaching at the universities and the food is always really good, very reasonably priced for central london and the place is really nice to sit in for a meal (new, clean and modern). Youre hard pressed to find a better deal in this part of town!
Excellent food! Very kind and helpful personnel. The chef even prepared Mango lassi even though it was not on the menu!
Highly recommended for halal Indian food. I confirmed the halal status by asking in person as well as emailing to management. Great value for money for lunch buffet. The spices are well and food is tasty. Above all, the ambience and environment is fantastic
Best place for lunch. The food is super cheap at only £9 and you get an all you can eat Indian buffet with deserts in a classy restaurant. Well worth the price
Had lunch buffet at this place for 9 pounds. Havent come across such good food at this price. I would definitely recommend.
They have delicious buffet including both vegetarian and non-vegetarian cuisine. Prices are decent. Lunch time between 12:30 PM and 3:30 PM
Worth the money for the buffet, food is very simple (no spicyand unique Indian taste. You can definitely give a try.Only down side not much options for desert and limited menu!
Not enough selection of curries on buffet. Only seemed to be one choice of desert too and drinks were a case of get them yourself from hotel bar. Lacked passion and purpose so Id suggest finding somewhere else.
Very busic buffet..hardly any variety.Tasted good though.Dessert very poor.Food halaal which is a plus point
Went there for Lunch buffet, although the food and service was good but what really lacked was Indian Bread as that is a must in any Indian food. Hwnce the rating
Nice buffet for a low price. You can choose from various starters, mains, salad ("deconstructed"and desserts. Definitely didnt leave the place hungry! Staff was very friendly, the waiter helped us very patiently. Minus 1 Star because it was very cold inside (ac was on).
Recently updated their restaurant and the buffet remains as good as before and at the same price (at lunch time). You get about four items for starters such as Onion Bhajis and Pakoras and also a Chicken / Lamb / Vegetable / Prawn dish for main along with a selection of salad and pickles. The desserts were not as good as before with only rice pudding and cake (no fruit / melon etc - really hope they bring those back). The dishes were not listed well (though you can tell the difference between lamb and chicken and prawn, some dishes are not so obvious). The food itself tasted fine and was perfect for the lunch time meal. You have to pay for additional drinks such as diet pepsi and tea etc but at 8.95 (as of May 2018it was very decent. Staff were pleasant and helpful. The new decor was an improvement on the old but only a little.
Menu seems to have gone down hill since they moved to this new location. The waiters just stand there like security guards staring at you eating your food. Feels very intimidating at times. The food is overly stuffed with salt so you become thirsty and drink tons of water and feel filled up quicker....and leave.I wont be going there again.Seems like good value but you cant get through much food.I would rather pay for a single tasty dish and buy a carrot cake from Tescos afterwards!
Nice selection and quality for a good price.Takeaway is not really worth it, the box is really small.I went near closing time (20 mins beforewith the intention to take away. This was my first time there and didnt know how it worked. I was treated with great disinterest.
We had a tour at the British Museum and popped to the restaurant before. The distance to the restaurant is minimal, do it was very convenient. The place is nice, the staff was very friendly. The food was of good quality and quantity-wise was OK as well. Good price. Highly recommend it.
Good starters, mains, choice of deserts and chutneys (with salads). Will definitely come back here again. Kudos to the chef! Spacious seating and good ambience. Much better than other buffets Ive been to.
Total waste of money, awful food, as a vegetarian options they had only 1-2 options and even that were not prepared and cooked nicely. If anybody is looking for authentic Indian dishes, never go for this restaurant.
Well...I am not of Indian nor Asian origin, therefore I do not confess to be an Indian food expert, however I do appreciate good, well prepared and caring food. This place was the worst Indian food I have ever tasted, the chicken korma was salty and the chicken had been pre-blanched, the tikka massala was the same taste as the korma, just a different colour. Nothing else was worth trying! Now lets not be mistaken, it was a buffet but no excuse, good Indian buffets are a fantastic way of trying those dishes you would not normally select; do not try this place, seriously. At least now I have the satisfaction of knowing that I have tried the worst "Indian" food of my life. Please close down!!! (or just buy some ready made jars from Pataks)Hey, Poppadom Express, a secret....trying using some fantastic Indian spices, Korma is not a coconut gravy!!!! Agghhh
