Politia - Gyro restaurant in Irakleion, Greece
Great food, great service, great price! Highly recommended 😋
Had to come again obviously being the best gyros in town. Absolutely delicious and the staff is friendly. Chicken gyros cone costs 4.5€.
Yes, tasty food it is. Prices bit higher, and staff not allowing order of pita -gyro or souvlaki, with excuse that is only for take away. This is only for tourists, yet locals are allowed to buy, sit and eat it at the table.
Prices are ok, Service a bit slow, but not like comments here suggest(but it was busy as well), food actually good. Does not deserve the quite bad rating. It’s fast food with a posh terrace but you get what you pay for.
Disgusting restaurant long service really not clean do not come .
As a greek person visiting this City and Bistro I have to tell you to not come here to eat. Especially as a tourist you are being served like a second class human! You have to wait for ages and the greek people living here getting there food next to you in not even 5 minutes. Even if they came after you… the food is alright but not worth the money to be honest. I would not recommend you to eat at „Politia“! The staff is arguing if you complain about the long serving time.
The cheese burger was very good and the fries tasted delicious. The only thing that they could do better is give you ketchup and mayonnaise without you having to ask.
Food below average, slow service, dirty fork
Best gyros Ive tasted in Crete so far. The second time I ordered chicken gyros on a plate, which was also good, but I wish there was more yoghurt. The plate had so much chicken I wasnt able to eat it all. Took a long time before I could place my order, since the waiters seemed busy with other guests. A fork is provided with the gyros and you can ask for a knife if you want.
Approach with caution - my son had a very severe case of gastroenteritis, having eaten a doner chicken here at around 5pm he woke up throughout the night throwing up repeatedly and with chronic diarrhoea. Other than this we only had our regular breakfast that day which is two slices of bread and butter so we can only pin it down to the doner chicken. Within less than 24 hours of my son being sick both me and my elderly mother were horrifically and dangerously sick. We sat down here as there is an inviting outdoor sitting area and it says “home made” it also seems to be a popular eating joint with locals. The food on the surface tasted fine, I was slightly apprehensive about eating doner chicken but we’d already sat down and saw locals happily eating away - the doner chicken is only 4 euros and there were quite a few people ordering it whilst we were there - the food is delivered relatively fast too - it’s really important not to take unnecessary risks when on holiday especially when eating poultry.
Liked everything about this place. Beer was cold, food was delicious. Staff was friendly and we got served quickly. Good prices!
We accidentally sat at this place instead of the one next to it with a higher review. Well, the reviews are true. The food is not super (also not horrible), but for the quality you pay too much. Service is also bad and they tried to charge us more than what we ordered. Fortunately, I read that in another review and asked for a printed bill after which they charged the normal price and acted like nothing happened. Do not recommend this place.
tasty chicken souvlaki!slightly expensive
Worst experience had in a while... The prices were decent but the food was really bad. From the first bite i found hair in the food...The serving was also deplorable... we ordered 2 large lagers, he came with two small ones. I told him that and he just said "yes I know" and made a last second excuse telling us he had only bottled beer...but he did not bring any bottle to pour from at the table...From the first look the place looks decent, they even have the audacity to claim the food is freshly home-made... Everything is a better choice than this place.
Fries softSolvaki dryGyros nothing SpecialPizza was goodWould avoid next time!
Maybe we visited during rush hour, but the food quality was unfortunately, bad. Its a pity because it was recommended by locals and we expected better.
SCAMMERS! charges too much and claims to be the best place in town with its ad in the yard. watch out for this place. They charged us twice as much money and the food was also much more expensive than anywhere else + none of us liked the taste of the food...
We ordered pork belly portion and when we got the bill, we got charged for mixed grill. We got charged 3 euros extra… Fortunately, we caught the error and fixed the bill, but we almost paid for the wrong bill. After that incident, the waiter had the audacity to ask for a tip lol
Prices have increased to tourist level expensive, fries were sour and not fried enough, service and hospitality rating: low.Nothing special.
Not great, but not bad either. The service was very nice. The gyro was OK. It is fine for a quick byte, the prices are normal for the location. They do have a variety of styles for serving the gyro, like portion, pita, arab style etc., so if you like such choices check it out.
Service: 1/5Food: 3/5Price: 4/5
Best Gyros in town, thats what I call this place. They have a wonderful place with fantastic services. I really like the old man who served us the first time we went there. So funny and friendly. The quality of food ofc has nothing to comment, juicy and delicious. I am highly recommend to try the pork stick or fried chicken. We went there two times and really want to go back more times in the future. 10 out of 10Remember to try the “Drakki”!
Good food and great serviceHave dinner and lunch here and have great experience in both times
Excellent qualityMeat was juicy and tender. Friendly staffWe even had to come back a second timeBest in town !
Very good pita gyros and service ok. Good prices.
From where do I start. The gyros is small and expensive for what they’re offering: the meat was dry, potatoes were soggy, the bread tasteless. I asked for some sauce and almost none was put. They put the potatoes in the pita with their bare hands, so yeah, definitely not recommended. Just don’t eat there, there are other superior places in town.
The food was good and also the service. Little bit pricey 😉
If you visit heraklion, make sure to reserve half an hour for a great pita gyros!
Service was great, I ordered takeaway food, they provided more details on the menu and helped with the choice, i’m also impressed by the speed, my order was ready in just a few minutes. The food was okay, considering the price It’s a great choice!
Service and food were fair, prices reasonable
The perfect place for american and English tourists. Food with no taste and very bad service.
The food was delicious and the service was perfectLoved it!
Food was okay, Service was horrible. Managed to get out order wrong 3 times, Burger came without enough Lettuce to cover the burger. They brought out the food for me first my girlfriend had to wait and they then brought another wrong dish. Very disappointed not recommend unless you want to go there as a bistro
Great place with really delicious greek food. Very large portions with reasonable prices considering the location.
Tourist trapExpensive staffed souvlaki with so manyUntastefull potatoes and thin slices of gyros.Small size pita souvlaki for 3.6€Stay away
Ok place but no more. We ate pork gyros and pork souvlaki. Meat in both was just meat, no spices/marinade at all. Portions are smaller than in other places of same type and prices are higher. Best you try gyros other place.
I had Souvlaki and Tsatsiki. Both not even average. Ill not come again.
Overcrowded and very unpleasant to eat when the people crossing near you keep hitting you in the head. The staff rushes you in and the only thing they care about is bringing in as many people as posible. They forget to bring you some things you ordered. The cheeseburger is tastless. The frappé was mostly water. Be careful with the check. Calculate the prices from the menu. Avoid it and try something else.
Terrible food, made worse by the rude and disrespectful service. We found a cockroach in one of our gyro platters and they had the nerve to call us fussy! They also then calculated the bill free hand without a register or calculator.. I added up the bill and came up to €32.50, the two waiters each individually added it up and came up with €34.40 and €36.60...they ended up charging €34.40 and threatened to call the police if I didnt pay, and refused to check my €32.50. Seriously avoid!
I ordered with my friend a pork gyros pita. They forgot about our order. We waited about 20 minutes. Then a guy has noticed that we did not get anything. The pita was not tasty. If you want to eat a good food go to another place.
Delicious huge portions and worth the price! You have to check this place out!
Food is big portion - very heavy. Service was slow - hard to get bills sorted because they were too busy receiving new customers.
You can wait for hours sitting there where the people having it for take away is not waiting. The cooker is smoking while serving the gyros and the service is awful. Not recommended, go somewhere else.
What they offer pretending to be Greek souvlaki while it is just bread with chips. Poor quality, really unhappy.
Worse pita gyros I have ever tried. Dry, over cooked gyros, a ton of French fries just to fill up the big pita in an attempt to justify the high price. I wouldnt eat there again even if it was for free.Exactly the same experience next door at Platia. Both to be avoided.
Food was good. Large portion. Could not eat most of it as only wanted a snack, average cost for a meal is €10, but if you go for the gyro in pitta its only €3.50, cheap but filling.
The worst gyros and fries Ive ever had. And I was not alone. Many people tried one or two forks before they left. The TripAdvisor sign is no longer a quality sign to me.
Greatest Gyros in town 👌🏼
The meat of the pork gyros was not high quality and the price was expensive. I havent tried anything else, but to be fair, others ordered the pita and it was huge.
Wanted to End the Crete trip with good Gyros. At first glance the meal looked good, but it was one of my worst Gyros.. And for 9,5 Euro not cheap as it gets served by a location looking like a Kebab Place..
