Museum with displays dedicated to Polish cultural heritage & immigration history, plus a gift shop.
This is THE location for Polish cultural history. A fantastic resource for anyone looking for information on the Polish influence in America.
Amazing collection, makes me even more proud to be Polish!
Great vibes. We had our quinces party here at their ballroom and they were very kind and accommodating. The museum is a real treasure too. A must visit in Winona.
Really interesting and informative regarding Polish influence in the area. Small gift shop also.
Learned a lot about my roots in the Winona area. My polish roots couldnt feel closer. The tour guide was knowledgeable and able to answer all of my questions. He was able to locate files on 3rd and 4th grand parents. AMAZING cant wait to bring my dad.
Makes you want to explore the history of Winona and its heritage
Unique place for American heritage, not necessarily of Polish decent. A large part of the museum is given to Catholic church exhibits from Winona diocese.
Great Museum !!
Its a great place to learn and look at the history!
When my Polish mother lived up North, she loved visiting this museum as she loves getting in touch with her Polish heritage. She now lives in Texas, so she doesnt get to visit, so I did the next best thing, and ordered some Christmas gifts from this museum. We had a mix up, and stuff happens, especially during a pandemic, so after not receiving the package after the scheduled arrival, they informed me it got lost in shipment. So they made it right and, in fact, they made it better! I cant wait to give these gifts to my mother on Christmas!Museums dont specialize in customer service like other establishments do, so you wouldnt expect a museum to excel at customer service, but this museum rocks at customer service!Keep it up!
FANTASTIC!
One of a kind. .spent a couple hours there, could have spent a couple days! So many Polish artifacts, historical items, documents, paraphrenilia, clothes, vestiture, etc. A nust see no matter your ancestry.
a surprising amount of polish artifacts and history inside. our tour guide was a very relaxed, passionate, and knowledgable person that helped me and my girlfriend learn more about both polish and kashubian culture around winona and in poland. we highly recommend checking out the museum for an hour or two and donating to help maintain the vast collection
Outstanding. A must see
Great, very informative
This place was so much more than we were expecting - including being greeted by Adam and Paul. They shared a great deal of information with us, and even personal stories of their own Polish families and experiences. The greatest point of interest for us was the amazing collection of Catholic church pieces and information, located on the top floor. I want to say we stayed a good two hours - there was so much to see. Will definitely stop in again next time we are in town. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Winona!
Small museum but very nicely done with some neat collections. It is designed to remember the country from which many Winona came. I was there for Apple Fest (1st Sunday in Octoberwhen they all gather for Polish food, dance, music, games, etc. Delightful event!!
Wonderful place to experience Polish heritage.
This is a wonderful collection of Polish heritage and easy to see in a couple hours. The curators are knowledgeable and helpful in answering questions.
I am so glad we spent time at the Polish Cultural Institute. Connecting with history is important to me and the PCI does an excellent job. The employee we met was very welcoming and spoke to the history as a connected part of it. I really enjoyed viewing the Hussar light cavalry armor. The enlarged pictures of everyday life were a close second. I truly recommend spending time here.
What an unexpected treasure! We had never been before and decided to stop in. It was absolutely amazing and our guide was wonderful. Were not Polish and wasnt sure if it would be that interesting, but it was fascinating, especially the history of how and why the first Polish immigrants came to Winona.
Very interesting. Great polish history of Winona.
Very cool. I learned a lot! A good place to bring kids, maybe older kids (theres some fragile stuff). The doll room is creepy but fascinating.
Amazing place to learn about the history of the culture of Winona
I didnt get a chance to do much reading odd the wall. Ill go back. Just went for a xmas sale.
So enlightening
Great ! More to see than you might expect and very helpful and knowledgable guides ! I am so happy I visited !
Interesting
This place is a one of kind gem, very interesting, learned a lot. Please go and support this effort to maintain this important history. It is not airconditioned so be mindful of that
While visiting here with my brother I was shocked with the amount of information and artifacts available which told the story of the Polish settlement in the Winona area. Dont hesitate to ask questions of the curators because they are very well informed folks!
Great polish history
Nice place.
very poor signage, only says who donated what. i want to know the story behind the objects.
I always learn something new every time I visit the Polish Cultural Institute. Father Breza is a walking wealth of information regarding anything Kashubian or Polish. The gift shop also stocks a nice selection of Boleslaw pottery and Lubiana plate sets. Friendly folks and of course the rich and vibrant culture of Kashubian Polish on display is always a treat! If you visit Winona, you have to stop here!
A treasure trove of information and historical artifacts for anyone of Polish background or anyone that has an interest in the American immigrant experience of the 19th and 20th centuries. Make sure to ask for Father Paul Breza and stop by the gift shop! When you are done here, try out the Winona Historical Society down the street.
The artifacts
We enjoyed our visit, but it really is set up more for Polish people themselves, not really for outsiders. As Im not from the area, it was more a weird window into what Winona is.
