Stone obelisk topped with a bronze eagle commemorating the 2165 Polish airmen who died during WWII.
Not only a war memorial but also tells the history of our alliance during the 2nd World War in the remembrance Garden
Always will remember
Went there to on the celebration of the memory of the polish pilots who fight in battle of Britain. It was great to see last living pilot and pilots fom Poland England Chechia and other countries. The moment the hurricane flow over my head was unforgettable.
So proud that my Grandfathers memorial is a place of peace, remembrance and calm.It has been a historic landmark for many important dignitaries and meeting place for prime ministers. He would have loved that.
Great place to have a quick stop if driving back into London on the A40.
Such a Beautif Respful and Tranquil Setting .Felt very moved by this Beautiful Place.
Great place with memorial about second world war polish soldiers who were fighting for freedom.
Polish War Memorial, erected to commemorate Polish airmen who helped the Allies during World War II.A very nicely kept place.
We visited Ruislip for the day and checked out a few tourist spots!A nice memorial for those that sadly lost their lives during the war.The water fountain was empty unfortunately but still was a pleasant sight to see.God bless them all. x
Beautiful memorial and had some information about the place too. Such a beautiful dedication. A great place to reflect and be thankful for the sacrifices made by others for our benefit.
It has a nice park at the side. Peace and quiet and read a book. 👍
A very poignant and moving memorial to the Polish air force pilots who lost lives in ww2. Recently (last 2 years?)renovated and rear garden of rememberance too.Parking spots always available, the only downsize is it is located next to the busiest roundabout/turnoff in the borough!
A small car park for a small memorial and garden. So many Polish Airmen names behind the memorial itself.
I feel sad for the Poles. I have sympathy.
What a fantastic memorial dedicated to the brave Polish forces. Beautiful enclosed garden with free parking for a few cars, definitely worth a visit.
Very nice and interesting place to see. Especially if someone is interested in WW2 history. Nice small park next to the monument.
It is a calm tranquil place with inspiring stories of the Polish Air Personnel who participated in the WWII from the RAF.
Seen this marked on the A40 for many years and finally decided to go and have a look. Had no idea it would be such a spectacular and respectful memorial.
Nicely kept memorial and nice gardens too. Not many parking paces outside . Worth a visit if you are nearby
Fantastic to have this in my bough, well looked after, as it should be the men it commemorates allowed us the freedoms we take for granted they are heroes
Nice area to pay respects to polish airmen. Thank you for your service. Also a good meeting spot for various groups like cyclists etc.
Well maintainedNice memorial for the brave Polish airmen who gave their lives
A wonderful peaceful Memorial and memorial garden - even if its on the side of a busy road and roundabout! Well maintained by Hillingdon Council. WE must never forget the great sacrifice of those Polish lads who escaped from their occupied country to come and fight alongside us for our freedom today
Memorial to WW2 Polish airmen who operated out of UK 1939-45. The lost airmen are named on plaques. There is also a small garden at the back with interpretation boards. The memorial is hard to access, owing to very busy roundabout; there is a small layby for short visits.
Beautiful Memorial - a place to remember the brave airmen from Poland who helped in the Battle of Britain WW2.It’s clean and well maintained, has a couple of benches, a lovely small park behind the memorial and a few parking spaces. It’s a MUST for a visit
Enjoyed the garden. Great respect for Polish Allies.
An interesting place, it recalls the much needed help of the polish pilots during the Battle of Britain. There is a polish trail to follow. First time i went there i found out about the Battle of Britain Bunker. That is worth a visit.
A beautiful place to remember the people that gave everything for us! Please visit this amazing place. We owe them everything.....thank.you! ♥️♥️
Well kept memorial to these brave men and women, exiled from their own country who fought so bravely with the allies. A very poignant reminder of the sacrifices made.
Traffics always crazy but this is a lovely testiment to how people should be, absulote devotion to one another and the growth of our kind as a whole. God bless you brave soldiers 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Beautiful tribute and memorial to all our Polish friends. Always grateful for the help given in such terrible times.
A well maintained monument of huge historical interest. It does give an insight to the massive contribution that these heroic men and women made to the allied cause in WWII.Certainly worth a visit as its easy to get to and complimentary....
Very well maintained memorial with lovely little park. Good place to learn about the contribution of Polish Air Force and reflect on the cost of war.
Well maintained place, with small remembrance garden to remember “the few” that You own soooo much. Now this is part of Polish Heritage trial
It is a very important part of Polish history cementing their association with the RAF in WW2 in the battle against Hitlers luftwaffe. The poles were very brave & most deserving of this memorial near the RAF Base at Northolt
This quiet corner of West London where those thousands of Poles who made the ultimate sacrifice whilst standing at Britains side throughout WW11 are commemorated.
As a war memorial it is impressive. When you look at the number of names who are remembered it gives you a sense of the sacrifice of the Poles who fought for the Allies to free Europe. Im privileged to have worked on the airfield where these brave men flew from.
Well kept memorial. Good information for those who dont know brave the contribution made
Lovely memorial of the fallen Polish airmen. Attended for the Cursed Soldiers National Remembrance Day today.Cześć i chwała Bohaterom! 🇵🇱
The Polish War Memorial is more than just a landmark for traffic directions! Behind the memorial is a gate through to a garden of rememberance that is well worth a look.
Quiet on most days. Only real noise is traffic from the A40 and West End Road. Clean. Nice memorial garden adjacent to the war memorial itself, which is locked at certain times in the evening.
Thanks to these airmen the Battle of Britain was won and their sacrifice continued to the end of the war. Despite fighting with the allies from day one to the end, those who survived had no home to return to, Poland having been invaded and occupied after 1945 by an ally, namely the Soviet Union.
This is a famous and very important place as a memorial to the Polish people in WW2. Recently noticed that this area has been kept very nice and clean. Well done to Hillingdon Council. Often get visitors. Carpark area is also clean and tidy. Area surrounding the Polish War Memorial, like on the A40 is also regularly kept clean. I pass this area nearly every day on my way to work and have done for many, many years.
Quite special place-dedicated to all Polish Pilots who died during WWII fighting for our freedom.
A well kept and quite stunning monument to pay tribute to the brave men who were evacuated from Poland and away from their homes and families flew hand in hand with Allied troops in the Battle of Britain and then onto reclaiming Europe. From their sacrifice with live in peace. Lest we forget.
Nice colour water 💦 and the water fountain ⛲ jets are pretty. Quite nice quiet little park next door. The memorial is nice and important too. 🛩️
Honor and glory to the heroes. One of the most famous places commemorating Polish pilots from the period of the Second World War.
Place when you have to stop and contemplate the history. The place is dedicated to them who gave their lives for peace
Polish War Memorial was erected by the London Borough of Hillingdon in 1948 to commemorate the contribution of airmen from Poland who aided the allies in the Second World War. It records the names of the 1,241 Polish people who died in operational sorties during the course of the war. The monument is made partly of Portland stone and polish granite comprising large stone obelisk with bronze eagle (symbol of the Polish Air Forceon top and bronze lettering text surrounded by low stone walls bearing names.A Remembrance Garden was created in the field adjacent to the memorial in 2015 to mark the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. It was officially opened by the representatives from Hillingdon Council, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in London, the Polish Air Force Memorial Committee and RAF Northolt. The garden was designed and created by Hillingdon with a contribution from the Polish Embassy. The Memorial is situated besides the A40/A4180 roundabout near RAF Northolt, West End Road, South Ruislip, HA5 6QX and well connected by public transport (bus). Pedestrian access to the memorial is available via slip road off West End Road. The memorial and the garden are well maintained and visits are free of charge. Please note that there is however no shelter for bad weather conditions or public convenience facility at the memorial.
Take time to reflect the brave Polish forces who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Theres a new memorial garden opened in 2015 take time to think what might have happened if we lost the war.
