Poke Market, LLC - Seafood restaurant in Hilo, United States
Ambiance: no much there as you have to eat outside. It’s walk up.Customer experience: very interaction and explanations of the food.Food: very well done. Portion are regular.Hint(s): located on side street. It’s a solid 4.5.
Delightful, fresh, and flavorful, Poke Market is perhaps the only poke place in Hilo that’s better than Suisan! I alway thought it was a tourist trap, so I’d never stopped by before, but now I’ve already gone back for more! The pickled daikon and cucumber make for an amazing companion to your choice of poke, and the sushi rice is well cooked and flavored. I’m told the other sides are excellent as well~ The prices are fair for the portions and quality; I highly recommend it!
Ordered the All Star with Cabbage instead of rice! It was excellent!Definitely a don’t miss stop for poke.Every time I am in Hawaii, I am always In search of the best and this is up at the top of my list. There is no where to eat inside or outside, so it is definitely a take-away place.Staff is super friendly and helpful.
One of my favorite pokes I had on the big island! This is all takeout from a walk up window so there’s no real good place to eat your poke other than the car or taking it somewhere. However, it is DELICIOUS. I had an all star bowl with all of their best items. Also I love the sweet potato salad!
Excellent poke bowls, quickly served with friendly service.
Quite simply the best poke bowl on Earth. The All Star bowl was perfect, fresh, tasty beyond belief. Ordered with spicy garlic ahi,, outrageous!!
I got the Local Favourite bowl, and it was delicious (that sweet potato tho - I wish there was more!). Also the containers are super cute, really liked the presentation of the bowl.
A little pricey for a poke bowl. BUT it was really, really good, making it worth the "splurge". The Okinawan sweet potato salad was the best part. Sooo good. I didnt see it on the menu by itself, but if you can order a larger serving than the little scoop they give you as a side dish in the poke bowl, DO IT 😜
Visiting from Belgium. My two star review is from the customer service side mostly. My bowl was very tasty and fresh, I ordered the Aburi bowl. (Portions are a bit small My husband wanted the spicy dynamite bowl but they refused to do it without the rice. My husband doesn’t like rice and he woudlve thrown it away. First he asked if they could just add in a bit more cabbage and they said no. So he then asked just do it without the rice and was also told no. A guy was taking the order and had to ask the lady in the back constantly about the changes. She then came up a little aggressively and said no the chef says the rice has to be in the dish and no changes can be made. ( she was the one making the bowls). She was not apologetic and over spoke with little room for listening. My husband then decided to just do a custom bowl which he was not pleased with at all.We travel allll over and never came across a poke place that would not accommodate their customers especially when it comes to food waste. This for us is unacceptable. Shame really, I hate leaving these reviews especially when I found my bowl to be good. I would’ve came back.
So delicious! Generous portions. Delicious fresh. Loved their daikon and sweet potato salad too!
Somewhat pricey but don’t let that deter you. Possibly the best in town. The hours throw me off, but for a local pro tip: if they’re closed, walk down the street to The Locavore, who often keeps some of their pre-made (varietyrolls stocked. We eat here whenever we get a chance. Big servings too!
Love their salmon! And their ginger ahi was also great! The staff was always nice and helpful. I would recommend the All Star Bowl, it gives you a good variety.
Da best poke on da island. If you know you know. Fresh fish incredible flavors. Chef Ernie delivers.
Chef Ernie is the originator of the poke cake! The fish is always super fresh and super ono. Best poke spot on the Big Island!
Not only was the staff super sweet but the food is top tier amazing. We had a build your own and an all star bowl. It was fresh quick and flavorful. Definitely a most good when here!
Absolutely yummy after walking and hiking thru the trees. Park on the street or near by and order at the window. They take cards. Quick and gone. Veggies were great rice was perfect and the portions were great. Not soggy or hard.
One of the best Poke on the big island. Great taste and quality and a good amount to fill you up. The folks were nice at the stand up window and we were able to find a nice picnic table in a park to eat. Would definitely go back
Best poke ever on the big Island. Parking is on the right side of the shop.
Tiny little place. Easy to miss. Absolute shame if you do. I got the Spicy Ahi with sweet potato and pickled daikon and it was sublime. I drove an hour to eat here, and it was worth the effort.
Good fresh poke bowl. Great price for the portion size. Ordered the Joe Bowl. They were out of avacado. It would have been nice to have it, but the bowl was still great. I was safisfied and full after eating it. When in Hilo again, I will stop again.
I came near the end of the day and got a Hawaiian bowl. The rice felt like it was al dente, I don’t know if they left it uncovered for awhile to cause it to get hard or if it was undercooked.Their sunomono was too acidic, like it didn’t taste like there was any ginger or sugar to soften the flavor, and it tasted like it was marinated in white vinegar instead of rice vinegar. I liked their taro side. Their poke was good.
Nice and friendly service making it easy to order. Quick turnaround time and good prices. Enjoyed our meal at a nearby bay!
This place is awesome! Friendly staff, quick service! Their poke comes with an option for greens (dry slawinstead of rice, their bowls also come with a little scoop of purple sweet potato mash. The toppings were great too! Highly recommend it!
It’s different from all the poke I tried in Honolulu and mainland US. Delicious!!!
Feeling hungry, I found a parking space near the Poke Market and the water. I do not remember what I ordered, but I do remember returning to Poke Market on another day. I enjoyed sitting on a park bench facing the waves of the water, watching a surfer balance her weight on a surf board. On my left and right, groups of people communicating, playing or fishing. Enjoying the outdoor scenery made my meal feel more rewarding to my senses.Vhuntermassage LLC
I saw the rate is good, so decide to have a try1. The meat feels not fresh, I can taste the deforest ice inside2. My stomach feel uncomfortable, and kind of nausea after finish it3. The purple side taste good4. I think Safeway’s Poke bowl with sushi rice and sides taste better
The best poke spot in a little hole-in-the-wall place. I’ve had poke at many different restaurants, but these bowls beat out the $30+ ones I’ve had by a mile. Absolutely delicious and quick service. Would recommend as a must-go for anyone on the BI
The best poke in Hawaii. (yes, better than susian and Ono). The service is fast and friendly. The poke bowls were delicious, i really like the all star bowl. The salmon for the place taste so fresh and rich. The potatoe side is amazing too. I ordered 4 different bowls on the 2 days we were in hilo.
The best poke in Hilo hands down!! Amazing fresh fish and sides 😍 amazing service and very fast
Best poke in Hilo! Very non-assuming shop window with a select amount of options but done very well! High quality ingredients and unbelievably fresh! Since of the poke make for a great mouth feel and the sweet potato salad as a side is a must! Also such friendly service. Suggest walking across the street to eat it at the oceanfront!
Great Poke, lots of parking next door and some on the street. No dining inside, just pickup and order outside
Delicious poke for good prices. I made this bowl from their choices and it was great, $14.
Delicious and such good quality of fish! I placed my order online very easily and picked up at the time specified. It was exactly what I expected, though the fish quality by far blew me away.I wasn’t quite sure what the “Action” add-on was, but it sounded fun and since everything was delicious, it was a good choice. ;I think it adds on a few toppings (slices of marinated tofu, crunchy little rice? ballsand amps up the textures in your bowl.Definitely get that sweet potato salad on the side - yummy!!
Poke Market is always worth a stop in Hilo! I got a 2 choice bowl with spicy garlic marlin and shitake salmon, pickled daikon and FAMOUS Okinawan sweet potato salad.
Best fish we had on our weeklong trip. They were nearly out of options, but was able to get have spicy/half Hawaiian. The two guys behind the counter were so nice and enthusiastic. Be sure to go if you’re in Hilo and go early!
Was recommended by the coffee shop barista and my husband and I really enjoyed the poke bowls here. First time ordered spicy poke & Hawaiian style and came back for the second time. Sides are awesome too! My favorites are crab salad and sweet potato.
REALLLYY enjoyed this poke. Was a little disappointed they were out of their famous salmon but their Hawaiian and spicy ahi were incredible. There is a line outside this place for a reason, but the service is fast and the line goes quick. There is no seating in the area, but it’s a short walk to the beach if you wanted to eat it there. If you are in Hilo, this is a must to eat at!
One of the best poke spots on the island! We arrived at the end of the day right after they sold out of their fish provisions for that day but were incredibly accommodating and made us two extra bowls using their supply allocated for the next day — we were lucky to say the least (thanks again!)Spicy poke with sweet potato and crab... unbeaten.
Apologies for taking the photo after I already dug into it but it looked so ono that taking a photo was not on my mind at the time.It tasted as good as it looked. Even though it might seem a little pricey, this would be my pick for this type of "next level" poke bowl. Need to also mention the whole team there making walk up ordering a breeze and a short wait time to get my bowl ready!
Spicy Ahi was delicious! Perfect size portion . Doing scenic drivefrom Kona to Hilo...This hit the spot
The food here in amazing! Incredibly delicious poke bowls. My friends and I eat here almost every day when we visit Hilo. The fish is fresh and tasty, and the toppings are extremely well-done.
Came across this place after reading some good reviews. Friendly people and good selection. I ordered 2 types of poke, spicy and spicy garlic both good but the flavors didn’t live upto the hype. The fish however is locally bought Hawaiian fish, so it’s great quality. I loved the vibe and freshness so would def recommend it. Aloha!
The magnum opus of poke on the island. Superior fish, creative poke. Just delicious. We come here from the Kona side monthly because the poke is unrivaled, and the people are real. Every encounter is genuine. Today we were introduced to the Garlic Marlin poke, so outrageously good.
Delicious fresh poke bowl! You choose your favorite fish and some veggies from the showcase! There is no table in the store so you take out the bowl and eat it in the park near it or somewhere else.
Some of the best Poke we had in Hawaii. We were visiting Akaka falls so we decided to stop into Hilo for some lunch. Fresh seafood with great flavors.
The best poke I ever tried. All fresh, great choices and the guys running the place are awesome. If you are in Hilo, looking for something to eat during their open hours, definitely give them a try!
Definitely come check out Poke Market if youre in Hilo. Its not like Suisan or KTA, the flavours here are quite different and its come with really great side dishes that other places dont have. The ahi tuna and the Tako were marinated really well. We opted in for the sweet potato which was really creamy and smooth, as well as the crab salad which was sweet and creamy in texture.
Really good Poke, made and owned by a Hawaiian former sushi chef. Fish was fresh and super tasty. Sweet potato salad was SO good and tomato salad was also amazing. So glad we were recommended this place. You have to eat here if youre in Hilo!
I wanted to give more then 5 stars to this poke restaurant! Their fish is so delicious and very fresh! It was the best poke I had in Hawaii. The ones I had in Honolulu have no comparison to this. I tried all of their poke, salmon, ahi, and tako, all of them are not too salty and taste very fresh. Their sweet potato salad is really good. Must try their poke pockets! Price is very reasonable and their staff are very friendly. A must go place when you visit Hilo!
MUST TRY! Spicy ahi on sushi rice with sides of both imitation crab & sweet potato is the BEST!!! But all the others are excellant too! Poke bombs are visually appealing & delicious.
