Poke It - Hawaiian restaurant in Santa Cruz, United States
THIS PLACE CLOSED A YEAR AGO
I have been to many poke places, this place was the worst experience, the portions are the tiniest, definitely will not go back.
I keep my GPS on at all times just in case my phone ever gets stolen lot of times itll tell me that Ive been to a place that Ive never even heard of or been to so when that happens rate it one star
The fish was fresh, but the portion of fish was small. I really like all the toppings though! Overall it tastes really fresh, but isn’t necessarily authentic
Accidentally went here instead of poke house. Either way Im not down with this whole poke movement.
Good food
Not much fish in the bowl but lots of rice... many choices but the fish quality was not great. Neither was the seaweed salad
Best place to get poke!!
ok
I have tried this place 3 times because I want to love it but unfortunately it is just not good. Having had good poke over the hill and even other places in Santa Cruz there is just better options. The portions are really tiny. I got the tiniest spoonful of Avocado, 2 types of fish and my poke bowl was over $15. I came when they first opened and was hoping they would take the constructive feedback from others but it seems like they are just ignoring it because it hasnt gotten any better in fact the portion sizes seem to have gotten smaller.
Fish was good quality as was salad and seaweed salad and crab. The worker didn’t know what ponzu sauce was so the poke was not tossed in it, we found it after. Because of this it didn’t taste good. Otherwise all ingredients were good. I will try it again
Food poisoning - Had some poke before our flight out, vomited on the plane - worst experience ever.
I have been to MANY poke bowl places around the bay area and this is by FAR the worst. The portions are terrible and the toppings are minimal. The owners of this place need to visit some places around the area and see what makes a good bowl. Save your dollars.
Expensive for what youre getting: a large amount of rice relative to other ingredients. Not as tasty as many poke places Ive been to, and there is not a lot of variety of ingredients.
The poke bowl was okay. It is fresh food, and you can choose what you want in your bowl and the bowl had a lot of veggies and fish in it. However, they were out of both white rice and sesame dressing......and possibly more options that I didnt ask about (I heard another customer complaining about them not having another item). It would be nice if they had some suggestions on how to make certain poke bowls (Hawaiian style spicy style etc).
Ive been to a couple of Poke "bars" in the Bay Area, and this one is pretty good. Choose your bass of rice or spring mix, choose 2 scoops of protein (ahi, hamachi, salmon, or tofuand choose a dozen different veggie toppings and sauces. Not as varied as other Poke joints, but they are just getting started. $14 for a bowl is pretty close to the price point Ive seen elsewhere for the same amount of food. I like it.
The flavors were delicious, but its extremely over priced and the fish quality was mediocre. Both my friend and I left feeling hungry, because the portions were so small. I was super stoked to check this place out, but unfortunately I dont think I would return in the future. This spot doesnt come close to comparing with Poke Lab in Monterey, for anyone that is familar.
