Been eating here for years but today will be the last time. Called in our order, payed and went to set down. Big (there was 2girl behind the counter said we couldnt eat inside because we called in. Didnt mind taking our money though! Place was empty minus one table too. So just a heads up, they wont tell you until they take your money you cant eat there(being they didnt mention it on phone but had a sign on door ). Also they only have one row of tables with the bathroom 2 foot from one table and the front door 2 foot from the other end of tables. If you want better bbq, cheaper and be able to set down? Do yourself a favor and go to Blue Ridge BBQ or Georges seed and feed. Way better bbq and the people wont make you leave after they take your money.

Great staff and excellent food! Daily specials that have never missed the mark, and consistent menu items. They make you feel like youre a part of their journey.

Staff and owner was incredibly friendly. Food was phenomenal my husband had the burnt ends of the brisket and I had the southwest chicken wrap with fries and they even put homemade pimento cheese on them for me it was the best. Definitely recommend this place we will visit again if we are ever in the area again. God Bless😊

This place is beyond epic. The food is magical, the staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is chill. The best thing is the six shooter fries, it literally is an orgasm in your mouth.

After seeing a post about Pok-E-Joes BBQ Yesterday and all the rave reviews, we decided to head over there this evening to grab dinner and check it out!Tonight‘s special was burnt ends, and my husband was thrilled about that news! He said they were by far the BEST he’s ever had, and his side dishes were also excellent! The brisket award winning for sure, grilled mixed vegetables, greens, hush puppies, fries, pinto beans, and okra were all absolutely delicious. Oh, and the sauces!!! We tried them all, and had a very hard time deciding which was our favorite!Our server was Tammy, and she was absolutely lovely! So efficient, and we never had to ask for a thing!The owner (Corycame out and introduced himself and was talking to us and greeted the other customers as well. Extremely nice small business owner, with customer service and customer satisfaction clearly a priority. Definitely makes you feel like an invited guest to his restaurant!It was obvious many of the customers there for dinner were regulars, and it was just such a friendly environment.It was clear to see why they have won so many awards for their bbq,  we will definitely be putting this place in our rotations for the best bbq in the area!  I’m ready to go back on a Friday to try the fish tacos for lunch!⭐️Highly recommend this place for bbq!

Really good food and our server was really sweet and was able to answer any questions. Im not sure the prices are reasonable for the quality of the food but it was pretty good just not $15 good. However, there are other options on the menu that are cheaper.

Me and my boyfriend stopped in for lunch today and we will definitely be back! The staff was so polite and attentive we had the door opened for us when we walked in. The food was amazing i am so excited to come back to try something else. Definitely a new favorite spot to eat

All the food tasted good. The brisket was amazing! Possibly the best I’ve ever had. And I want to give a shout-out to the coleslaw, it was flavorful.Everyone in my family liked what they got.The staff were very helpful and nice, but there were multiple problems with our order. Two main dishes had to be sent back because it was not what we ordered, and we were not given sauce the sauce until we asked again.

We visited today for Lynchburg Restaurant Week. Their food was delicious, the outdoor seating was pretty, and the customer service was amazing! Our waitress noticed we were ordering an appetizer and entree and splitting them, so she cut the entree in half. And we told her "no onions" on the entree, but didnt know the appetizer often has onions too. So she double-checked with us to see if she should leave the onions off the appetizer too. Awesome service! Cheerful, prompt, detail-oriented.

Great little restaurant. Staff was very friendly food was fresh, hot, and fast. Buddy had the club I had a burger. Burger was great but the club was incredible. Fries were great. Definitely on my list of places to eat when I am in the area.

My wife and I took a leisurely two hour drive to historic Lynchburg hoping to include Pokey Joe’s for lunch. Don’t be deceived by it’s location in a shopping center; the Texas Destroyer brisket sandwich was the best bbq sandwich I’ve ever had, hands down. Definitely worth the drive. Waite staff, owner were more than accommodating. Will most assuredly visit again soon.

The food and staff are excellent. The brisket and chicken are awesome. The sides are great Mac and cheese, collard greens and the fried okra cooked to perfection. If youre in the area check out their unique tacos they are terrific. You have to get their Texas mud pie it the perfect sweetness my wife said that its better than cheese cake.

This place is amazing! I dont go to this part of town very often but I ended up at the nearby UPS Store and the manager nearly insisted that I eat dinner at Pok-E-Joes. I asked him what hed recommend and he told me, without hesitating, The Texas Destroyer. Im REALLY glad I listened to him! The Texas Destroyer is, quite possibly, the best sandwich Ive EVER eaten. I was so effusive in my praise that the server sent the owner over. The owner, Corey, explained that hes owned the restaurant since 2019. He obviously takes great pride in his restaurant, staff, and especially the food he serves. Ill be back soon!

The food was amazing! The owner is super nice and friendly. The food is fresh, hot, and served quickly. If you’re looking for smoked meats, this is the place to go. We had the smoked pork BBQ Burrito and Texas Destroyer brisket sandwich, followed by banana pudding. You can also buy by the pound.

I travel to Lynchburg for work, visited this restaurant for lunch and dinner. The service was fast and friendly! The food deserves 10 stars! It is truly unparalleled. The place is small but cheery and friendly. I would eat here everyday if I lived in Lynchburg! The Texas brisket is to die for, the macaroni and cheese is delightfully cheesy, the brisket beans are smoky and sweet and the sauces are hands down the best around! Do yourself a favor and try it out, you wont be sorry!

Public Enemy was wrong!! You can believe the hype! This place serves some very scrumptious food. I can see why a previous reviewer ate here 3 days in a row. I had the Texas brisket sandwich. Perfect brisket. Wife had sliced brisket sandwich. Fries and fried pickles excellent as well. Good selection of local craft beer to wash it all down. We’ll be back

My son graduated from Liberty University this past weekend and we used Pok-e-Joes to cater his graduation party. I am a huge bar-b-q fan and have eaten a lot of it. The food was fantastic! Pok-e-Joes just took the NUMBER 1 spot in my book! The portions were huge! The customer service was 5-star and Cory, the owner, is GREAT! It will now be THE place go on future trips to Lynchburg, VA.

I would have to say this is my favorite independent BBQ place for brisket so far around here . Food tastes amazing with so many options and they have no problem with custom orders !

Hands down, THE best bbq restaurant in all of Lynchburg and the surrounding towns. I have never had a bad plate there! I have been a loyal customer for over 8 years, and currently, my work is about a 15-minute drive over , so I eat here 3 to 4 times a month during lunch. My wife and I will not eat ochra anywhere but here! The meat is always tender and tasty! An amazing original restaurant that is Lynchburgs alone!

My first visit was a great experience; the sliced brisket was on point. It melted in your mouth. With their homemade sauces, flavor was a taste adventure. The staff were friendly and welcoming. One of Lynchburgs hidden gems.

Hands down the best. I met the owner at the Regional Alliance meeting last week and everyone in the room including the city officials discussed how amazing this place was so i texted my wife and said we had to try this place. Everyone raved over the pork butt. I had the Texas Destroyer with Mac and cheese ranch style pintos and homemade banana Pudding. Absolutely delicious and hands down the most tender meat. This place is well worth your time. My staff loved everything they got as well.

We came here based on the reviews and they held up! My wife got the brisket and fries and said they are fantastic. The brisket is very tender and not at all fatty. My son got the chicken tenders and fries and he said they were really good. I got the tacos and they were good but there was a little too much cheese for my liking but the flavor was good! My other son got the brisket plate with fries and hush puppies and he liked it a lot. We would come here again!

Omg....their BBQ burrito is to die for!!! The waitress was a doll!!! I wish we lived closer than 9 hours away, so I could have it every week!!

Excellent beef brisket, we get take out when we can because they have some great take out deals and youll have plenty of leftovers. The sliced brisket is melt in your mouth delicious and you cant go wrong with anything on their menu I highly recommend this place if you want quality barbecue.

Out of Towner, ate here 3 times in a row. Really good food, grilled chicken wrap awesome. The wings very good. Pulled pork nachos very good. Gouda hamburger was good. And they hamburger was really good. I would also recommend the fired pickles.

We went here during the taste of Lynchburg week. For an app, entree and dessert, it was a great value! We preferred the brisket to the pulled pork but both were pretty good. The coleslaw on the messy pig had too much mayonnaise for my liking and the sandwich could have had more sauce.Overall we liked the BBQ and sauces here more than Smoak House and plan to be back to Pok E Joes to try other items on the menu.

YESSS! Fine BBQ spot! The Messy pig was the pulled pork sandwich my eyes picked off the menu for me....and they chose well! Lil mac & cheese on the side. Duh-rishous! Trust the name...she makes a mess...but oh so worth it!

Read a lot on great reviews online and decided to check them out for ourselves. I can say you won’t be disappointed. My boyfriend order the hot dogs and he was amazed at the flavor. I ordered the pulled pork and the meat melted in my mouth. Redskin potato salad, hush puppies, Mac and cheese, fries and banana pudding were amazing. Great flavor! They went above and beyond to make my boyfriend’s bday and our first time experience wonderful. Will be back again! Worth the hour drive we made.

Food is absolutely delicious. Loved everything about it (coming from someone thats a tad picky).Customer service was excellent. We phoned in a large to go order right around lunch time. They were super patient, made us feel better about the complicated order.So much food, good prices!

Best turkey Ive ever had. Salad was fresh, Nachos were delicious. My kids said the burgers were amazing and love how they grill their tortilla wraps. Friendly staff, fast service. So glad I finally got to go to this little gem. Bought 1 lb. of smoked turkey to take home and will definitely be back. Spread the word!

I ordered the two meat combo with pulled pork and sliced brisket. The food had good flavor. The pulled pork was a little dry. The sauces were all good, although I preferred the Original Texas and the Sweet and Spicy mixed together. The coleslaw was good and the straight cut fries were so-so. The service here was also adequate. I would recommend this place and will go back if Im in the area again.

Had a Philly cheese steak taco special, both tacos had a lot of smoked brisket meat in them and were really good. With coleslaw and a drink for $7.99. Got my moneys worth.Went back again. Had the Philly cheese steak taco again. It was a great meal again. Lots for great food , you have to try the crispy fries and the Sweet potato fries, really good. The service was fast and friendly. The order was correct and hot. Will be coming back for more.
