Poet's Corner Bar - Restaurant in Sionainn, Ireland
Never fails to come up trumps
A joyful settled vibe to the place. Always professional but with a warmth that almost makes you feel youve been invited to eat at a friends house. Whiskey selection is excellent!Aug 3It is without a doubt magical what they do here. Never before has the word succulent rolled out of my mouth do easily.
Good food friendly staff not expensive
Excellent chicken & ham vol au vents. Great Guinness. Lovely service
Great place to eat and have a beverage, great music
Food was excellent - fresh and tasty. Service was very friendly and helpful.
Have the chicken and ham with a pint. Great atmosphere! The staff is very attentive.
Lovely hotel. Food and service first class, very happy celebration there and will definitely be booking up again
Busy place for a Wednesday night- very pleasant and efficient staff from the hostess, barman to waitress - ordered salmon with a crab crust which came with an assortment of fresh vegetables- very tasty and filling for €21. There was a limited menu from 3pm which included items for all budgets - Would definitely recommend
Good menu, efficient service, reasonably priced, no complaints, a good dine out experience in a pub environment...within a hotel setting
Lovely staff and great food.
This is one of the more vibrant places to eat in Ennis (especially during the weekend, its seems chaotic and busy but its actually a very well ran restaurant / Pub .. its efficient and fast. The chicken and ham vol-au-vant is the classic, but the rest of the menu will give everyone something to find, Curry , Burger, fish its all there. One thing, you cannot book in advance, turn up and wait enjoy the scenery and atmosphere get a drink and wait for a bit.. ( big groups might be a struggle 6+ just to note but you might be luckyrush hour is around 6 - 7 .. its gets quite around 8.
Great food, well prepared, very tasty and it came fairly quick. Fresh and gorgeous mocktails (driving!). I got a "San Francisco" and it was just amazing. The service was cordial, cheerful and efficient. The ambiance was a traditional Irish pub, which is quite loud, but inviting and cosy, like a big family gathering.
Beautiful place, amazing food and drinks, super friendly service
Excellent food and friendly service. The vibe is classy with wood paneling, and it’s also very welcoming. It’s definitely worth a stop.
Had a great meal here today. Steak on ciabatta with lovely salad and chips. Always happy eating here.
Had Sea food Chowder and very little fish in it and the bit in it was overcooked.
Bar of the Old Ground Hotel , Ennis , Co clare, cosy bar that is a busy spot day time early evening
Always love going here ,great service and lovely food.
Good food great staff love the place
Great spot.....lovely food
Excellent food, large portions with very friendly staff and a great atmosphere. One of my favourite spots while visiting this fine country!
Lovely staff, decent food. Ordered a rare steak and it was brought out rare, often places will over cook rare steaks from my experience.
Very good lunch experience with sandwiches and coffee. Very friendly service. Has a cosy feel. Food was good.
Wish I lived here so I could make it my local. Seafood chowder was exceptional, dessert was fantastic.
It’s been a while, but I’ve always enjoyed having a bit of food and drink here!
Great food. Great atmosphere
Best food in ennis, and with attentive staff , couldnt be better
Nice space, amazing dessert, sound staff
Very good food and efficient service.
Food here is always great and the staff are prompt and friendly.
Delicious food. Great service.
If the chef is aspiring towards mediocrity, he/she is certainly succeeding. The food was dire.
Old worldly character that serves lovely food and a decent pint at affordable prices! Been a long time favourite for a bite to eat.
Great food great atmosphere and very friendly staff
Efficient & friendly service & varied menu of great tasting food.
Popped in for lunch with my 3 daughters. The staff were friendly but thats where the positives stopped. Extremely slow service, even though I counted 12 serving staff. The food was so bland, dry and overcooked + a wrong order. I could go on but suffice to say it was a very long and torturous experience and simply cannot recommend anything about this restaurant. A sad waste of my time and money.
Good food, friendly staff and great service
Always a delight to visit the OG (as it is know locally)Completely compliant with current C-19 regulations.Food is always excellent (and locally sourced where possiblebut it is the staff that make it extra special at this time of year, especially during this pandemic.I know it can be difficult to get a table at times, simply because of the H&S regulations, but it is worth it when you do get a seat.
We have eaten here the last 4 days. Food consistently very good and the staff excellent. All guidelines re covid were adhered to diligently. I would highly recommend
Best food i got in Ennis gorgeous.the staff go on another level to help you out.they are so friendly.pub itself is very clean and up to date.5 out of 5 for this pub
Food was amazing with large portions and the waiting staff was equally brilliant, however what looked like a male manager unnecessarily lost his temper at a number of staff who were doing their jobs perfectly on a couple of occasions. He seemed unable to handle stress and took it out at his well mannered staff members. By the way some staff members reacted showed this unfortunatly was the norm for him. All other staff members were genuinely friendly and applaud them for staying so calm and collected while working with him.
A very busy spot here. Very old and quaint building in the centre of town. Can be usually a wait for food on the weekend nights but well worth it. Very friendly and helpful staff and the boss has no hesitation in helping out also. A great selection of food, from starters to dinner to desserts. Also a great selection of beer, spirits and coffees and teas. Not too expensive here also. Definitely well worth a visit.
Very good little spot we stopped at for dinner after some car trouble delayed us from getting back to limerick. The atmosphere was very Irish pub like and perfect for tourist looking for that. The food was mostly good and plenty of whiskeys behind the bar.Four of us had the the bisque like seafood chowder that was rich and cream. I loved the presentation with the pubs on version of soda bread and whatever random roll made your plate. The chowder (truly more of a bisquewas really very good. The chicken vol au vent was quite delicious. I was actually a bit jealous of my friend who ordered it (three of them). As was the spring rolls which were warm and definitely not like any spring roll back in the states. However, the chili sauce served with was great and these (more like an egg rollare fantastic. My friend and I shared the seafood platter. The cooked salmon was honestly bland and underwhelming. Neither of us finished our portion. The smoked salmon was great though. The crab claws fine but not special. However, the salmon and crab “pâté” was exception. We both agreed we could have happily had a whole bowl of that. I put pâté in quotes as it was more like a salad than a pâté imo.The desserts were plentiful. We opted for the strawberry ice cream and poached pear (yum!!!), the coconut panacotta which was absolutely delicious, and the apple fudge cake (meh). The cocktail menu was nothing to write home about so don’t come here for that. Come here instead for the pub food, beer, and whiskey.Overall it was a nice experience and a great spot for anyone in Ennis.
I do know that the bar can become very busy, but it would be very helpful if the many staff could guide people to vacant tables. Had lunch here today and was rather disappointed with the open sandwich I received. The wilted, dry mixed lettuce lacked even a slight dressing. Lovely young and courteous waiting staff, but not the usual OG food standard, this occasion.
Food Ok-ish. Lunchtime its a meat n 2 veg affair, the sort of food which raised a pasty faced nation of taste-budless heros. What more could you ask for..? Bar layout lends to a claustrophobic feeling when busy, which is most of the time. Beer garden outstanding, with immense potential, but under utilized for some reason - might be as its the main guest vehicle entrance.
Great food Excellent service very pleasant staff love going there for a meal
Tasty food. One of the best places in Ennis to eat Friendly staff. Can get very busy. Relaxing place for a Pint
First Irish pub my boyfriend and I have ever been to and it did not disappoint! Beer was fantastic, everyone was incredibly friendly, delicious food (the fish and chips are massive! You can definitely share them!), amazing atmosphere and live music. The only complaint I have is that there isnt any room while you are waiting for your table, other than near the entrance, which can be a bit of a pain. The bar was full, but, luckily opened up quickly enough for us to snag some seats while we waited. For two entrees and four drinks, it was just under €60, which is a little over $60 USD at the time of our visit. But, well worth it! ❤
Busy spot. Friendly staff. Lovely food and very accommodating there. Highly recommended
